Abstract
[Problem] To provide a processing device and a processing method with which a workpiece formed from a sintered alloy, in which a carbide is fixed using a metal binder, can be efficiently processed with high accuracy and high quality. [Solution] A processing device comprising: a rotary tool K that can perform mechanical removal processing on a workpiece W formed from a sintered alloy in which a carbide is fixed using a metal binder; a rotation means M1 for rotating the rotary tool K about an axis; a moving means M2 that can move the rotary tool K relative to the workpiece W; and a power supply device A that can supply current between the rotary tool K and the workpiece W via an electrolyte solution D. The rotary tool K is equipped with: a body part Ka with which, by using a voltage applied by the power supply device A, current can flow to and from the workpiece W via the electrolyte solution D; and a processing part Kb that comprises an insulation material mounted to the body part Ka, and can perform cutting processing on the workpiece W.
