Description

“Kit for safe deposit box and method of use”
Description Field of the art
The present invention regards security systems for transporting money and valuables in general. More in detail, the safe deposit box, the kit associated thereto and the method of use thereof are specifically designated for use in the private, business and transportation sectors. Prior art
In the common language, the expression safe deposit box is used to indicate a safe keeping service offered by banking institutions, usually under the responsibility of the institution in question.
Such service allows the owner of safe deposit box to keep the valuables, documents or precious objects thereof under high privacy standards and high security level. Access to the service usually occurs in armoured rooms, at times present in bank vaults, in which the customer is left alone to introduce or remove objects/valuables into/from the safe deposit box under full privacy conditions.
Also available in the market are safe deposit boxes that protect the anonymity of the owner, others that are not bound to a bank account, and other types of services. However, an efficient system for handling the security of the money and valuables to be physically transferred from a private place or business/store to a banking institution or any other place seems not to have been developed yet.
There are various private valuables transportation companies and their employees, especially drivers of transportation means, complain about being targets of attacks aimed at stealing the content of the safe deposit boxes.
The same problem is raised by all transporters who receive payments in cheques and thus are often victims of theft attempts. Some international patents regard innovative safe deposit boxes, such as for example, the recently published Chinese patent n° CN 107 42 4343. This regards a smart system of safe deposit boxes connected to the internet and manageable by a user by means of an“App”. The system comprises computing platforms of the cloud type. The security systems for obtaining the certainty that the person accessing the content of the safe box is actually the authorised person, comprise, among other equipment, even central control processors, solar cells, surveillance video cameras, displays, touch screens, identity card readers, Union Pay card readers, fingerprint scanners, high definition video cameras and optical fibre or wireless communication means. The system also comprises a procedure for obtaining the delivery of the safe deposit boxes by means of courier service but, just like the other patents operating in the market, it does not describe a means for protecting both the content of the safe box and the safety of the transporter during the transportation.
Thus, an object of the present invention is to claim a kit and a method of use capable of guaranteeing the security of the valuables contained in a safe deposit box and the personnel transporting them from one safe place to another.
Description of the invention
According to the present invention, a kit for safe deposit boxes is provided and a method of use associated thereto that effectively overcomes the aforementioned drawbacks is described.
The elements constituting the kit are substantially of three types, replicable in series to meet greater needs of space for storing money, documents and other valuables.
They are: a fixed container, the safe deposit box associated thereto and reversibly removable from said container and a plurality of blisters that can be possibly used for inserting the money into the safe deposit box, having previously sealed it in these small flexible containers.
But now let us describe the various components of each element of the kit.
The kit consists of a parallelepiped-shaped metal structure, with size comprised between 15 cm X 20 cm X 30 cm in height 150 cm X 200 cm X 300 cm in height. It is advantageously fixedly installed in the business/store or in the vehicle that uses the present system. Said container is connected to a source of electrical power supply connected to an electrical connector arranged inside the compartment of said container which is suitable to contain said safe deposit box.
Said safe deposit box is advantageously secured to the respective container by means of a mechanical lock.
In the preferred embodiment, said lock consists of at least one pair of projections arranged on two juxtaposed sides of the compartment of said container. At least one of said projections is provided with at least one fissure suitable to be engaged with at least one corresponding lock bar which, actuated by the keys, reversibly projects from at least one of the two recesses arranged on the outer sides of said safe deposit box, in a position corresponding to the projections of the container.
The safe deposit box, which constitutes the central component and most important of the present invention, it is provided, on the outer surface thereof, with a handle for facilitating the transportation thereof and with an electrical connector suitable to be engaged with the electrical connector of the container when the safe deposit box is inserted into the container. Such electrical connection advantageously power-suppliers a plurality of electronic equipment contained in the safe deposit box in one of the two compartments into which it is divided internally.
Such equipment comprises, at least:
o one rechargeable battery, suitable to power-supply all the electronic equipment even when the safe deposit box is positioned remotely with respect to its container;
o a plurality of inertial sensors which detects possible attempts to break into the safe deposit box;
o a geolocation sensor, suitable to detect, at each instant, the geographic coordinates of the safe deposit box;
o a control device of the CPU type, suitable to receive the data from said geolocation sensor and from said inertial sensors in order to determine possible danger situations, according to pre-set parameters, and consequently activate the alarm signals.
Possibly, also contained in the compartment dedicated to the electronics of said safe deposit box is a timer suitable to be pre-set to establish the time span available for a user who is transporting the safe deposit box (which was previously disconnected from a container), so as to connect it to the same or to a further container again. Advantageously, said CPU activates said alarm signals should said time span be exceeded.
Advantageously, said alarm signals use at least one of the following devices, arranged on the outer surface of the safe deposit box, which can enter into function alone or simultaneously: an acoustic signal, suitable to emit a sound alarm that can be heard at a distance to help in the identification of the thief;
a smoke bomb suitable to emit a predetermined amount of smoke in order to signal the thief and obstruct the escape thereof;
a possible staining device, arranged in the first compartment of the safe deposit box, suitable to enter into function when said CPU is in a state of alarm for a time interval exceeding a pre-set value. Said staining device is advantageously suitable to stain the valuables contained in the stolen safe deposit box so as to render them non-usable.
Said compartment containing the aforementioned equipment is accessible by means of a door, a mechanical lock too, in turn accessible from a first compartment which is the one that contains the valuables.
Thus, the access to the electronic compartment is advantageously more difficult.
Preferably and advantageously, said compartment containing the electronics is airtight.
Said first compartment, or the one dedicated to containing the money and the other valuables, can be accessed by means of a first door arranged on the outer surface of the safe deposit box. Said first door is also advantageously provided with at least one slot with curved section, through which a user inserts the money, preferably kept in the special blisters. The object inserted into the slot falls into the first compartment and, thanks to the curved configuration of the slot, it is impossible for it to be recovered without opening the first door using the relative keys.
In a preferred embodiment, also contained in said first compartment is a money-counter device suitable to communicate, to said CPU, the total amount of money deposited in the first compartment and thus allow the owner of the safe deposit box to check whether the entire amount of money reached the pre-selected safe place intact.
Advantageously, said CPU may communicate with a further electronic device, for example a smartphone, connected thereto and allow the user managing the safe deposit box to know the amount of money possibly counted by the money-counter and adjust the security parameters that could regard:
- a geographic area within which the safe deposit box can be moved freely, without triggering the alarm of the system, even when disconnected from the relative container;
- the admissible time intervals for the movement of said safe deposit box when disconnected from the relative container;
- the hours within which it is allowed to disconnect the safe deposit box from the relative container.
Advantageously, the violation of at least one of the aforementioned security parameters is sufficient condition for the activation of the alarms by said CPU.
In a further version, more accessorised ad even more advantageous in terms of difficulty of theft, the safe deposit box is provided with a further compartment, accessible through a common mechanical lock mechanism, suitable to be reversibly ballasted to weigh down the safe box during transportation. Suitably, the compartment that can be weighed down may also be of the telescopic type, or reversibly expandable. More in detail, when the safe deposit box is inside the container thereof, the compartment that can be ballasted will be empty and reduced to its smallest dimensions possible. When one decides to remove the safe deposit box from the container thereof, by accessing using the keys or other mechanical lock systems, the user will feel the compartment that can ballasted with water, sand, lead blocks, or any other weigh down material, thus increasing the overall weight of the safe deposit box. Said safe deposit box has weight comprised between 5 kg and 12 kg, preferably 7 kg, which can be increased at will if the compartment that can be ballasted is present. Thus, even though the transporter will have more difficulty in handling the safe deposit box the one hand, for a thief it will be advantageously considerably more difficult to escape given that the thief will be obstructed not only by the aforementioned alarm systems but also by the weight of the stolen object.
Lastly, the kit also comprises a plurality of blisters, suitable to contain a determined amount of money, documents or other valuables inserted by a user thereinto. Said blisters will advantageously be provided with an upper closure suitable to reversibly seal the content thereof. The material of each of said blisters is advantageously flexible so that it can be inserted into the first compartment of the safe deposit box passing through said curved slot. The usefulness of inserting the valuables into the blisters could for example lie in distinguishing different payments or money inserted by various operators who have access to the safe box.
Given that this invention is specifically conceived for businesses/stores and transportation services, the scope of protection outlined by the attached claims includes the method for using the kit described above, which comprises the steps of:
- installing at least one container at a safe place of said business/store, preferably in proximity to the counter/cash register;
- inserting the relative safe deposit box into the container and closing the lock;
- possible insertion of the banknotes received as payment from customers into the special blisters that have been provided and closing by means of said upper closure;
- inserting the blisters or the banknotes in the slot of the safe deposit box, with possible calculation of the amount introduced by means of said money-counter device (if present). The count will possibly be displayed on the electronic device connected to the CPU;
- opening the lock, removing the safe deposit box and handing the latter over to a user designated to transfer to a predetermined place where the money is kept; - possible insertion of the safe deposit box into a further container arranged in the vehicle designated for transportation. As a matter of fact, the present invention also includes the use of the kit in vehicles that transport values or that receive payments as cheques;
- possible monitoring of the route taken by said user by sharing the data detected by the geolocation sensor using the electronic device connected to said CPU;
- reaching the place designated for opening the safe deposit box and possible insertion thereof into a further container previously installed at said place;
- opening the first door in order to access the content of the first compartment and removing the valuables; counting the money, possibly in a place under surveillance by a video camera; communicating the amount to the business/store;
- returning the safe deposit box to the business/store.
As previously mentioned, the kit and its method of use described above, can be used both in vehicles suitable for transporting safe deposit boxes and in goods transportation vehicles which receive payments in cheques, for the security of the operators.
The advantages provided by the present invention will be clear in light of the description outlined up to now. Furthermore, they will be more apparent due to the attached figures and relative detailed description. Description of the figures
The invention will be described hereinafter in at least one preferred embodiment, provided by way of non-limiting example, with reference to the attached figures, wherein:

With reference to FIG. 3 shown is a vertical section of the object, part of the kit subject of the invention, which represents the fundamental core thereof, i.e., the safe deposit box 2. It is provided with a first compartment 2.1 and with a second compartment 2.5 accessible in this sequence. The first compartment 2.1 which, as observable from the reference figure, is superimposed to the second compartment 2.5, is the one dedicated to containing the valuables and it is accessible through a first door 2.1’ provided with a mechanical lock and at least one slot 2.1” with curved section. Said slot 2.1” is curved to prevent possible attempts to draw out the content of the first compartment 2.1 without opening the door 2.1’. In the most complete and accessorised embodiment, said first compartment 2.1 also comprises at least one common money-counter device and a staining device. The former communicates, with a CPU control device 2.9 (contained in the second compartment 2.5 described in detail hereinafter), the amount of money deposited in said first compartment 2.1. The staining device is instead suitable to stain the content of the first compartment 2.1 of the safe deposit box 2 with ink under determined conditions described hereinafter.
Arranged on the bottom of the first compartment 2.1 is a second door 2.5’, also provided with a mechanical lock, suitable to allow access to said second compartment 2.5, which is airtight and housed in which, in the preferred embodiment, are at least:
o a rechargeable battery 2.6, suitable to power-supply all the electronic equipment when the safe deposit box 2 is disconnected from the electrical connection provided by the container 1 thereof;
o a plurality of inertial sensors 7 suitable to detect possible attempts to break into the safe deposit box 2;
o a geolocation sensor 2.7 suitable to detect, at each instant, the geographic coordinates of the safe deposit box 2;
o a timer 2.8 suitable to be pre-set to establish the time span available for a user who is transporting the safe deposit box 2, to connect it to any container 1 again.
All this equipment is suitable to communicate with a CPU control device 2.9, also contained in the second compartment 2.5, connected with an external electronic device, for example a smartphone, of the owner of the kit subject of the present invention.
More in detail, by acting using the smartphone, the user may set some security parameters which determine the activation or non-activation of the alarm by the CPU 2.9 in given occasions. Such parameters may regard:
- a geographical area in which the safe deposit box 2 can be freely moved without triggering alarms in any case;
- admissible time intervals for the movement of said safe deposit box 2 from one container 1 to the other, which will trigger the alarm of the system once exceeded; - hours within which it is allowed to disconnect the safe deposit box 2 from the relative container 1. In case of disconnection at different hours the system will automatically trigger alarm.
Thanks to the communication of the CPU 2.9 with the inertial sensors 7, besides the events mentioned above, the system enters into a state of alarm even should said inertial sensors 7 detect an attempt to break into the safe deposit box 2.
Through the electronic device connected to the CPU 2.9, the user can also display the amount of money contained in the safe deposit box 2 detected by the money-counter and the geographic position of the safe deposit box 2 thereof.
When the CPU 2.9 enters into alarm state, this can lead to one or more of the following situations:
the activation of an acoustic signal 3 arranged on said safe deposit box 2, suitable to emit a sound alarm that can be heard at a great distance in order to signal the thief; the activation of a smoke bomb 3.1 also arranged on said safe deposit box 2, suitable to emit a predetermined amount of smoke in order to signal the thief and obstruct the escape thereof;
the activation of the staining device to render the valuables contained in the safe deposit box 2 non-usable, after a predetermined time interval within which none of the situations that triggered the alarm does not return within the pre-established security parameters.
The other objects constituting the kit are the blisters 4 and the container 1.
The blisters 4 are flexible bags, provided with an upper closure 4.1, suitable tom seal a predetermined amount of money or other valuables and insert it into the slot 2.1” of the door 2.1’ of the safe deposit box 2. Using them could be particularly useful for distinguishing the money inserted by different operators.
On the contrary, the container 1 is suitably dimensioned to contain the safe deposit box 2 in a compartment 1.1 thereof arranged in which is the electrical connector 1.2 which, when the safe deposit box 2 is inserted into the container 1 thereof, it is engaged with the corresponding electrical connector 2.2 of the safe deposit box 2 so as to power-supply the technological equipment contained in the second compartment 2.5.
The lock mechanism, strictly mechanical, in the embodiment currently deemed the best, consists of at least one pair of projections 1.3 arranged on two juxtaposed sides of the compartment 1.1 of said container 1 (visible in FIG. 1) so as to be engaged with a corresponding pair of recesses 2.3 provided on two juxtaposed sides of the safe deposit box 2 (as observable in FIG. 2). Said projections 1.3 will be provided with at least one fissure 1.4 suitable to be engaged with at least one corresponding lock bar 2.4 which, when actuated by the keys, reversibly projects from each recess 2.3 of the safe deposit box 2.
After installing the container 1 containing the safe deposit box 2 in a safe place of any business/store, preferably near the counter/cash register, the method associated to the use of the kit comprises the insertion of the valuables to be kept in the special blisters 4 (represented in FIG. 4) and the closure of the latter by means of the upper closure 4.1 which seals them. Said blisters 4 are subsequently inserted into the slot 2.1”.
When the first compartment 2.1 is full, or at time intervals pre-established by the manager of the business/store, the safe deposit box 2 is removed from the container 1 thereof (being keen on possible set hours or pre-set security restrictions) and handed over to a transporter. The safe deposit box 2 will be provided with a handle 5 so as to facilitate the movement.
At least one container 1 according to the present invention into which the transporter inserts safe deposit box 2 during the trip will preferably be provided in the vehicle suitable to transport the safe deposit box 2.
The manager of the business/store can monitor the trip thanks to the electronic device connected to the CPU 2.9.
Upon reaching the place designated for opening the safe deposit box 2, the transporter removes it from the container 1 designated in the vehicle and takes it to a place under surveillance by video cameras designated for opening the safe deposit box 2, in which a further container 1 is installed.
At this point the money is removed and a confirmation communication occurs between the user who counts the money contained in the safe deposit box 2 and the manager of the business/store who uses the kit in question.
The safe deposit box 2 is returned to the shop at the end of the verification.
Lastly, it is clear that the invention described up to now may be subjected to modifications, additions or variants obvious to a man skilled in the art, without departing from the scope of protection outlined by the attached claims.
