Definitions
- the present invention relates to a motorized recessed spotlight for rotation about at least a vertical axis.
- Such a feature is basically incompatible with the need to provide the spotlight with movement means which are able to allow rotations about several axes, but which at the same time cannot be seen by the user during use.
- the technical problem which is posed therefore is that of providing a recessed spotlight able to rotate about at least one axis of rotation, preferably two axes, and that of limiting the overall size of the drive system to dimensions such that it may be contained within the spotlight and is preferably invisible from the exterior.
- Figure 1 shows an exploded perspective view of a spotlight according to the present invention
- Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the assembled spotlight according to Fig. 1 with details of the means for rotation about a vertical axis;
- Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the assembled spotlight according to Fig. 1 with details of the means for rotation about a longitudinal axis;
- Figure 4 shows a schematic vertical cross-section through the spotlight according to the invention
- Figure 5 shows a schematic, perspective, vertically cross-sectioned view of the spotlight according to the invention
- Figure 6 shows a perspective view of a spotlight according to the present invention during initial rotation about a vertical axis
- Figure 7 shows a perspective view of the spotlight according to Fig. 5 during rotation about a vertical axis
- Figure 8 shows a perspective view of the spotlight according to the invention during rotation about a longitudinal axis
- Figures 9, 10 show partially cross-sectioned perspective views of the spotlight rotated about a longitudinal axis.
- a set of three reference axes have been assumed, i.e. in a longitudinal direction X-X, corresponding to the widthwise dimension of the spotlight; in a transverse direction Y-Y, corresponding to the depthwise dimension of the spotlight; and in a vertical direction Z-Z, at right angles to the other two directions and corresponding to the height of the spotlight; for easier description and with reference to the orientation shown in the figures, the vertical axis Z-Z is arranged coinciding with a first, vertical, axis of rotation and the longitudinal axis X-X is arranged coinciding with a second axis of rotation of the first transmission means.
- a motorized recessed spotlight according to the invention comprises essentially:
- a light unit 1 (Fig. 2) having, arranged inside it, the electrical power supply devices and the lamp for emission of the light beam, these being components which are conventional per se and therefore are not further described;
- a base 2 with only preferably a hollow cylindrical shape, as in the example shown, and with opposite top and bottom bases which are open in the vertical direction Z-Z;
- the base 2 has a side surface 3 inside which an annular seat 3a is formed;
- first spherical cap 12 with edge 1 1 which is annular in the example, extending radially outwards so as to form an annular step 1 1 a of suitable width;
- annular rack 50 arranged along a plane X-Y, coaxially resting on the annular step 1 1 a of the first cap and on the seat 3a of the base 2 to which it is fastened and fixed; the teeth 51 of the rack facing in the opposite direction to the support step 1 1 a;
- first motor 70 the shaft 71 of which extends parallel to the vertical axis of rotation Z-Z of the spotlight; the motor is mounted on a first bracket 72 in the form of an overturned "L" which has a surface 72a in the longitudinal direction X-Y and a surface 72b in the vertical direction Y-Z; the said surfaces are provided with respective vertical-axis or longitudinal-axis through-holes for receiving the shaft 71 of the motor 70 and for allowing fixing to the first support means 13 of the first cap 12 and to the feet 63 of a frame 60, if present;
- first bevel gear 73 coaxial with the shaft 71 , arranged on the opposite side of the longitudinal-transverse surface 72a of the bracket 72 to the motor 70, and keyed onto said shaft 71 ;
- the first bevel gear is designed to mesh with corresponding teeth of the first transmission means 20, as will become clearer below;
- a second motor 80 the shaft 81 of which extends parallel to the vertical axis of rotation Z-Z of the spotlight; the motor is mounted on a second bracket 82 in the form of an overturned "L" which has a surface 82a in the longitudinal direction Y-X and a surface 82b in the vertical direction X-Z; said surfaces are provided with respective vertical-axis or longitudinal-axis through-holes for receiving the shaft 81 of the motor 80 and for allowing fixing to the second support means 14 of the first cap 12 and to the feet 64 of a frame 60, if present;
- the second bevel gear is designed to mesh with corresponding teeth of second transmission means 30 mounted on the first cap 12 and rotationally integral with the light unit 1 about the inclined axis S-S, as will emerge more clearly below;
- first outer gear wheel 21 which is coaxial with the longitudinal axis X-X and the radial teeth 21 a of which are designed to mesh with the first bevel gear 73;
- this double gear wheel configuration is not strictly necessary, a single gear wheel being sufficient for transmission of the movement from the bevel gear to the rack; - the two gear wheels 21 ,22 are mounted on the first support 13 of the first cap 12 by means of a pin 23 which physically defines the longitudinal axis X-X;
- gear wheel 31 provided with front teeth 31 a designed to mesh with the second bevel gear 83;
- the gear wheel 31 is mounted on the second support 14 of the first cap 12 by means of a pin or similar fixing means; as shown the second support 14 has a surface 14a inclined from the bottom upwards and from the outside inwards and with a through-hole 14b inside which the pin 33 is locked, thus defining a corresponding inclined axis of rotation S-S of the transmission 30, realized by the pin 33;
- a second spherical cap 90 which is provided with a cylindrical extension 91 for engagement with the light unit 1 and the spherical surface 92 of which has a sleeve 92a projecting radially in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation S-S of the second transmission 30 and designed for stable engagement with the pin 33 of the second transmission, in particular such that the cap rotates integrally with the pin 33 about the inclined axis S-S.
- the free end of one upright (60b in Fig. 1 ) of the two uprights of the bridge 60 has a fork 62, the opposite arms 62a of which in the transverse direction Y-Y have a foot 63 extending longitudinally outwards and provided with a respective through-hole 63a in the vertical direction Z-Z; similarly the other arm 60a has a foot 64 extending longitudinally outwards and provided with a respective through-hole 64a in the vertical direction Z- Z;
- - electronic means for receiving radio signals emitted remotely by means of a remote control and designed to control the operation of the motors 70,80 so as to allow the user easy variation of the direction of the light beam without having to physically access the spotlight;
- the spotlight is also formed by parts which are easy and inexpensive to produce and assemble and which may be easily installed at any user location by means of normal standardized connection means.
