Abstract
Protective cover for displays of electronic devices, consisting of at least three layers: a carrier foil, a basic protective layer and a layer protecting glue on the basic layer is characterised by that the carrier foil (1) has an element (2) with a hole (3) allowing its threading on USB plug, protruding from electronic device shape such that the hole (3) coincides with USB socket and the foil perfectly covers the display after threading the plug and inserting the plug in the USB socket of the electronic device, and the carrier foil (1) has additional element (4) to be grasped, wherein a piece of the carrier foil (1) with the hole (3) is covered neither by the basic foil, nor by the protecting layer glue on the basic foil.
Description
Protective cover for displays of electronic devices
The subject of the invention is a protective cover (of foil, tempered glass or foil combined with glass called elastic or hybrid glass) for displays of electronic devices such as smartphones, mobile phones, palmtops, tablets, digital cameras and so on.
Most of modem electronic devices are equipped with touch-sensitive displays (screens), which are prone to scraping, cracking, dirtying. On the one hand, maintaining them in a good condition poses a problem, on the other hand it keeps a comfort usage of the device. Therefore, for years there are applied protective covers affixed to displays, protecting the displays from scraping, dirtying and cracking. They can also protect against reflections, excessive blue glare or unwanted peeping on the display by outsiders. Manual, precise applying of a display cover is really inconvenient. Therefore many manufacturers provide different type of stabilisers adjusting properly the protective covers of displays. The protective covers are provided to clients in two- layer form: a basic protective foil (protective glass or glass-foil combination) and a foil protecting glue on the basic foil (protective glass).
Description of utility model application PL 123170 reveals a stabilising device for applying a protective foil on LCD screen of a mobile phone, consisting of a fixing cube in form of a strip, of USB connector placed on the fixing cube which fit to USB sockets of the mobile phone, and of bolts on the fixing cube, which position and numbers correspond to mounting holes in the protective foil of the screen. In that solution there is necessary applying of an additional, upper carrier layer and additional element for adjusting the protective foil, while the carrier foil needs preparation of at least two holes fitting to the bolts of the stabilising device.
There is known a solution presented on tutorial video available on YouTube at the following location htps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-AjooZfb5I. In the solution adjusting is achieved by use of a label affixed by a user to the proper side of a foil and to an electronic device case. In this solution, the quality of protective foil affixing depends mainly on manual abilities of a person.
Unexpectedly, much simpler solution without additional stabilising elements provide demanded precise application of a protective foil, tempered glass or elastic glass. Protective cover according to this invention for displays of electronic devices, consisting of at least three layers: a carrier foil, a basic protective layer and a layer protecting glue on the basic layer is characterised by that the carrier foil has an element with a hole allowing its threading on USB plug, protruding from electronic device shape such that the hole coincides with USB socket and the foil perfectly covers the display after threading the plug and inserting the plug in the USB
socket of the electronic device. The carrier foil is equipped with additional element to be grasped with fingers during manipulation. The piece of the carrier foil with the hole is covered neither by the basic foil, nor by the protecting layer glue on the basic foil. The basic layer comprises either of elastic glass, of tempered glass or of polymeric foil.
The solution according to the invention does not require any additional elements for stabilisation during applying of the cover on a display, and maintains precision of affixing of the protective foil, tempered glass or elastic glass. It significantly decreases price of a cover, and - contrary to competitive solutions - there is no need to buy any additional devices for application. Thanks to rigidity of the carrier foil and fixing the element with the hole with a standard wire for USB socket (in most cases being a standard equipment of device) there is achieved precise positioning over display. For each model of an electronic device, it shall be produced (cut) adequately profiled protective cover with a carrier foil with two processes - an element with the hole and element for grasping which are adjusted to a model.
The subject of the invention is presented in exemplary embodiments in drawings on which Fig. 1 illustrates the protective cover in a bottom view (from side adjacent to a display of an electronic device), Fig. 2 - plan view, Fig. 3 - scheme of application on a display, Fig. 4 shows examples of possible shapes of protective covers, and more precisely - of a carrier foil integrated with other layers of the protective cover.
As it is presented on Fig. 1 of the drawings, on the carrier foil there are: a basic protective layer and a layer protecting glue which do not cover element 2 with a hole 3 and an element for grasping 4, Fig. 2 shows the same embodiment seen from the other plane. On the Fig. 3 there are presented steps of application of the basic protective foil: threading of the hole 3 on USB plug, placing the USB plug inside USB socket and unsticking the layer protecting glue, pressing on a display to remove air bubbles and removing the USB plug and finally - unsticking of the carrier foil, leaving the basic protective foil affixed to the display. Fig. 4 shows non-comprehensive embodiments of the protective cover corresponding to display shape and to its holes of sensors, speakers and so on differing by the shape of the element with hole and the element for grasping located in the carrier foil.
In addition, reduction of wastes down to necessary minimum is an advantage of this solution.
