이하, 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 본 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자가 본 발명을 용이하게 실시할 수 있도록 바람직한 실시예를 상세히 설명한다. 다만, 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예를 상세하게 설명함에 있어, 관련된 공지 기능 또는 구성에 대한 구체적인 설명이 본 발명의 요지를 불필요하게 흐릴 수 있다고 판단되는 경우에는 그 상세한 설명을 생략한다. 또한, 유사한 기능 및 작용을 하는 부분에 대해서는 도면 전체에 걸쳐 동일한 부호를 사용한다.
덧붙여, 명세서 전체에서, 어떤 부분이 다른 부분과 '연결'되어 있다고 할 때, 이는 '직접적으로 연결'되어 있는 경우뿐만 아니라, 그 중간에 다른 소자를 사이에 두고 '간접적으로 연결'되어 있는 경우도 포함한다. 또한, 어떤 구성요소를 '포함'한다는 것은, 특별히 반대되는 기재가 없는 한 다른 구성요소를 제외하는 것이 아니라 다른 구성요소를 더 포함할 수 있다는 것을 의미한다.
도 1은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기의 구성도이고, 도 2는 도 1에 도시된 탈이온 필터의 상세 구성도이다.
도 1을 참조하면, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기(100)는 탈이온 필터(110), 전원 공급부(120), 전도도계(130), 제어부(140) 및 복수의 밸브(V1~V4)를 포함하여 구성될 수 있다.
탈이온 필터(110)는 전기적 인력을 이용하여 유입되는 물에 포함된 이온물질 등을 제거하는 탈이온 동작을 수행할 수 있다.
일 실시예에 따르면, 탈이온 필터(110)는 도 2에 도시된 바와 같이 제1 전극(111) 및 제2 전극(112)과, 제1 전극(111) 및 제2 전극(112)의 사이에 위치하는 하나 이상의 바이폴라 이온교환시트(113)를 포함하며, 탈이온 필터(110)로의 물의 유출입을 위한 제1 통로(114) 및 제2 통로(115)를 포함하여 구성될 수 있다.
제1 전극(111) 및 제2 전극(112)에는 후술하는 전원 공급부(120)에 의해 전원이 인가될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 탈이온 동작 수행시에는 제1 전극(111) 및 제2 전극(112)에 탈이온 전압이 인가되고, 재생 동작 수행시에는 제1 전극(111) 및 제2 전극(112)에 재생 전압이 인가될 수 있다.
각각의 바이폴라 이온교환시트(113)는 양이온 교환막과 음이온 교환막이 서로 접합하여 구성되거나, 양이온 교환막과 음이온 교환막 사이에 형성된 물분해 촉매층을 더 포함하여 구성될 수도 있다.
제1 통로(114)를 통해 물이 유입되고, 제1 전극(111) 및 제2 전극(112)에 탈이온 전압이 인가되면, 탈이온 전압에 의한 인력에 의해 물 속에 포함된 양이온 및 음이온 성분이 분리되어 각각 음이온 교환막과 양이온 교환막에 흡착될 수 있다. 이와 반대로, 제1 전극(111) 및 제2 전극(112)에 재생 전압이 인가되면, 탈이온 동작에 의해 음이온 교환막 및 양이온 교환막에 흡착된 양이온 및 음이온 성분이 재생 전압에 의한 척력에 의해 음이온 교환막 및 양이온 교환막으로부터 분리될 수 있다.
도 3은 도 1에 도시된 탈이온 필터의 일 구현예를 도시하는 사시도이고, 도 4는 도 3에 도시된 탈이온 필터의 단면도이다.
도 3 및 도 4를 참조하면, 탈이온 필터(110)는 원통형으로 형성된 하우징 내에 포함되며, 하우징의 중심에 배치되는 제2 전극(112)을 중심으로 복수개의 바이폴라 이온교환시트(113)가 나선형으로 배치될 수 있다.
또한, 제1 전극(111)은 나선형으로 배치된 복수개의 바이폴라 이온교환시트(113)의 외주면을 나선형으로 둘러싸는 형태로 배치될 수 있다.
또한, 하우징의 측면과 상측에 각각 제1 통로(114) 및 제2 통로(115)가 형성될 수 있다.
일 실시예에 따르면, 측면에 형성된 제1 통로(114)를 통해 탈이온 필터(110)로 물이 유입되면, 나선형으로 배치된 바이폴라 이온교환시트(113)의 외측으로부터 내측으로 물이 통과하여 상측의 제2 통로(115)를 통해 배출될 수 있다.
다른 실시예에 따르면, 상측의 제2 통로(115)를 통해 탈이온 필터(110)로 물이 유입되고 바이폴라 이온교환시트(113)의 내측으로부터 외측으로 물이 통과하여 측면에 형성된 제1 통로(114)를 통해 배출될 수도 있다.
전원 공급부(120)는 제어부(140)의 제어에 따라 탈이온 필터(110)에 탈이온 전압 또는 재생 전압을 선택적으로 인가할 수도 있다.
예를 들어, 전원 공급부(120)는, 탈이온 필터(110)가 탈이온 동작을 수행하는 동안에는 탈이온 전압을 인가하고, 탈이온 필터(110)가 재생 동작을 수행하는 동안에는 재생 전압을 인가할 수 있다. 여기서, 탈이온 전압과 재생 전압은 서로 반대의 극성을 가질 수 있다. 다시 말해, 탈이온 전압 인가시에는 제1 전극(111) 및 제2 전극(112)은 각각 양(+) 전극 및 음(-) 전극이 되고, 재생 전압 인가시에는 제1 전극(111) 및 제2 전극(112)은 각각 음(-) 전극 및 양(+) 전극이 될 수 있다.
전도도계(130)는 탈이온 필터(110)의 입수단에 연결되는 유로 상에 구비되어 탈이온 필터(110)로 유입되는 물의 전도도를 측정할 수 있다.
전도도계(130)에 의해 측정된 전도도는 제어부(140)로 전달될 수 있다.
한편, 탈이온 필터(110)의 입수단에 연결되는 제1 유로(L1)는 전도도계(130)의 전단에서 분기될 수 있으며, 제1 유로(L1)에서 분기된 제2 유로(L2) 및 제3 유로(L3)는 각각 탈이온 필터(110)의 출수단에 연결되는 제4 유로(L4)에 연결될 수 있다. 이 경우, 각 유로(L1, L2, L3, L4) 상에는 밸브(V1, V2, V3, V4)가 구비되어 개폐 동작에 의해 각 유로(L1, L2, L3, L4)를 통과하는 물의 흐름을 제어할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 제2 유로(L2)는 제1 밸브(V1)의 전단에서 분기되어 제4 밸브(V4)의 전단에서 제4 유로(L4)와 연결될 수 있고, 제3 유로(L3)는 제1 밸브(V1)의 후단에서 분기되어 제4 밸브(V4)의 후단에서 제4 유로(L4)와 연결될 수 있다.
제어부(140)는 탈이온 필터(110)를 구비하는 정수기의 전반적인 동작을 제어하기 위한 것으로, 예를 들어, 중앙처리장치(CPU), 그래픽처리장치(GPU), 마이크로프로세서, 주문형 반도체(Application Specific Integrated Circuit, ASIC), Field Programmable Gate Arrays(FPGA) 등의 프로세서로 구현될 수 있으며, 정수기의 동작에 필요한 각종 데이터를 저장하기 위한 메모리를 구비할 수 있다.
구체적으로, 제어부(140)는 전원 공급부(120) 및 밸브(V1-V4)의 동작을 제어할 수 있다.
예를 들어, 제어부(140)는 전원 공급부(120)가 탈이온 필터(110)로 탈이온 전압을 인가하도록 제어하여 탈이온 필터(110)가 탈이온 동작을 수행하도록 할 수 있다.
이 경우, 제어부(140)는 밸브(V1-V4)의 개폐를 제어하여 탈이온 필터(110)에서 물이 흐르는 방향을 변경할 수 있다.
일 실시예에 따르면, 제어부(140)는 제1 및 제4 밸브(V1, V4)를 개방하고, 제2 및 제3 밸브(V2, V3)를 폐쇄할 수 있다. 이 경우, 도 5a에 도시된 바와 같이, 정수기(100)로 공급되는 물은 제1 유로(L1)의 제1 밸브(V1) 및 전도도계(130)를 거쳐 탈이온 필터(110)의 제1 통로(도 3의 114)로 유입될 수 있고, 탈이온 필터(110)를 통과한 정수는 제2 통로(도 3의 115)를 통해 배출되어 제4 유로(L4)의 제4 밸브(V4)를 거쳐 출수될 수 있다(제1 방향으로 유로 형성).
다른 실시예에 따르면, 제어부(140)는 제2 및 제3 밸브(V2, V3)를 개방하고, 제1 및 제4 밸브(V1, V4)를 폐쇄할 수 있다. 이 경우, 도 5b에 도시된 바와 같이, 정수기(100)로 공급되는 물은 제2 유로(L2)의 제2 밸브(V2)를 거쳐 탈이온 필터(110)의 제2 통로(도 3의 115)로 유입될 수 있고, 탈이온 필터(110)를 통과한 정수는 제1 통로(도 3의 114)를 통해 배출되어 제3 유로(L3)의 제4 밸브(V3)를 거쳐 출수될 수 있다(제1제2 방향으로 유로 형성).
제어부(140)는 통상적인 경우 탈이온 동작 수행시에 상술한 제1 방향으로 유로가 형성되도록 밸브(V1-V4)를 제어할 수 있으며, 정수 성능을 향상시킬 필요가 있는 경우에는 탈이온 동작 수행시에 상술한 제2 방향으로 유로를 형성하도록 밸브(V1-V4)를 제어할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 제어부(140)는 원수의 TDS 농도가 기 설정된 임계치 이상인 경우, 외부 입력에 의해 성능 강화 모드로 조작된 경우 등과 같이 정수 성능을 향상시킬 필요가 있는 경우 제2 방향으로 유로를 형성하도록 밸브(V1-V4)를 제어할 수 있다. 여기서, 원수의 TDS 농도는 전도도계(130)로부터 전달된 전도도값으로부터 산출될 수 있다. 구체적으로, 물의 TDS 농도가 증가할수록 전기 전도도가 증가하는 원리를 이용하여, 전도도값으로부터 TDS 농도를 산출할 수 있다. 전도도값을 TDS 농도로 변환하기 위한 변환 상수로 0.5~1.0 범위 내에서 선택된 상수를 사용할 수 있으며, 변환 상수는 수질에 따라서 달라질 수 있다.
또한, 제어부(140)는 통상적인 경우 탈이온 동작 수행시에 상술한 제1 방향으로 유로가 형성되도록 밸브(V1-V4)를 제어할 수 있으며, 정수 성능을 유지하면서 전력 소비를 감소시킬 필요가 있는 경우(예를 들어, 외부 입력에 의해 절전 모드로 조작된 경우 등)에도 탈이온 동작 수행시에 상술한 제2 방향으로 유로를 형성하도록 밸브(V1-V4)를 제어함과 더불어, 전원 공급부(120)가 탈이온 필터(110)로 인가하는 탈이온 전압의 세기를 줄여줄 수 있다.
도 6은 탈이온 필터 내에서의 유로 방향에 따른 물의 TDS 농도 분포를 도시하는 도면으로, 도 6의 (a)는 제1 방향으로 유로를 형성한 경우를 나타내고, 도 6의 (b)는 제2 방향으로 유로를 형성한 경우를 나타내며, 진하게 표시될수록 TDS 농도가 높은 것을 나타낸다.
도 6에 도시된 바와 같이, 제1 방향으로 유로를 형성한 경우, 바이폴라 이온교환시트의 외측으로부터 내측으로 물이 통과하므로, 외측에서 내측으로 갈수록 물의 TDS 농도가 낮아지게 된다. 반대로, 제2 방향으로 유로를 형성한 경우, 바이폴라 이온교환시트의 내측으로부터 외측으로 물이 통과하므로, 내측에서 외측으로 갈수록 물의 TDS 농도가 낮아지게 된다.
도 3 및 도 4를 참조하여 상술한 바와 같이 탈이온 필터가 구현된 경우 내측의 곡선반경이 짧으므로, 제2 방향으로 유로를 형성하여 TDS 농도가 비교적 높은 물이 탈이온 필터의 내측으로 유입되도록 하면, 동일 유량인 경우 탈이온 필터의 절단면 상에서 TDS 농도가 비교적 높은 물이 차지하는 비율이 높아지게 된다.
도 7은 탈이온 필터 내에서의 유로 방향에 따른 전해질 저항을 도시하는 그래프로, 71은 제1 방향으로 유로를 형성한 경우의 전해질 저항을 나타내고, 72는 제2 방향으로 유로를 형성한 경우의 전해질 저항을 나타낸다.
도 7에 도시된 바와 같이, 제2 방향으로 유로를 형성한 경우 전해질 저항이 낮아져서 전력 효율을 크게 증가시킬 수 있게 된다.
본 발명의 실시예에서는, 이와 같은 원리를 이용하여 탈이온 필터 내에서의 유로 방향을 변경할 수 있도록 함으로써, 소비 전력을 증가시키지 않고 정수 성능을 향상시킬 수 있으며, 더 나아가 정수 성능을 유지하면서 전력 소비를 감소시킬 수 있다.
도 8은 본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기의 제어 방법의 흐름도이다.
도 8을 참조하면, 탈이온 필터로 유입되는 원수의 전도도를 측정하고 이로부터 원수의 TDS 농도를 산출한 후(S81), 원수의 TDS 농도가 기 설정된 임계치 미만이면(S82), 제1 방향으로 유로를 형성한 상태에서(S83) 탈이온 필터로 제1 전원을 인가하여 탈이온 동작이 수행되도록 한 후(S84) 정수를 추출할 수 있다(S87). 여기서, 제1 전원은 기 설정된 탈이온 전압이다.
반면, 원수의 TDS 농도가 기 설정된 임계치 이상이면(S82), 제1 방향과 반대인 제2 방향으로 유로를 형성하고(S85) 탈이온 필터로 제1 전원 또는 제2 전원을 인가하여 탈이온 동작이 수행되도록 한 후(S86) 정수를 추출할 수 있다(S87). 여기서, 제1 전원 및 제2 전원은 기 설정된 탈이온 전압으로, 제2 전원은 제1 전원보다 낮은 값으로 설정될 수 있다. 이 경우, 탈이온 필터로 제1 전원을 인가하면 소비 전력을 증가시키지 않고 정수 성능을 향상시킬 수 있고, 탈이온 필터로 제2 전원을 인가하면 정수 성능을 유지하면서 전력 소비를 감소시킬 수 있다.
도 8에서는 원수의 전도도로부터 산출된 원수의 TDS 농도가 기 설정된 임계치 이상인 경우에 제2 방향으로 유로를 형성하는 것으로 도시하였으나, 본 발명이 반드시 이로 제한되는 것은 아니다. 예를 들어, 외부 입력에 의해 성능 강화 모드로 조작된 경우 등과 같이 정수 성능을 향상시킬 필요가 있는 경우, 또는 정수 성능을 유지하면서 전력 소비를 감소시킬 필요가 있는 경우에도 제2 방향으로 유로를 형성하도록 제어할 수 있다.
도 8을 참조하여 상술한 제어 방법은 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기에 구비된 프로세서에 의해 수행될 수 있다.
본 발명은 전술한 실시예 및 첨부된 도면에 의해 한정되는 것이 아니다. 본 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자에게 있어, 본 발명의 기술적 사상을 벗어나지 않는 범위 내에서 본 발명에 따른 구성요소를 치환, 변형 및 변경할 수 있다는 것이 명백할 것이다.

Claims (10)

  1. 인가되는 전원에 의해 유입되는 물에 포함된 이온물질을 제거하는 탈이온 동작을 수행하는 탈이온 필터;
    상기 탈이온 필터에 탈이온 전압 또는 재생 전압을 선택적으로 인가하는 전원 공급부;
    상기 탈이온 필터의 입수단에 연결되는 제1 유로;
    상기 제1 유로에서 각각 분기되는 제2 유로 및 제3 유로;
    상기 탈이온 필터의 출수단에 연결되는 제4 유로;
    상기 제1 유로 내지 상기 제4 유로 상에 각각 구비되어 각 유로를 통과하는 물의 흐름을 제어하는 제1 밸브 내지 제4 밸브; 및
    탈이온 동작 수행시에 상기 전원 공급부가 상기 탈이온 필터로 상기 탈이온 전압을 인가하도록 제어하고, 상기 제1 밸브 내지 제4 밸브의 개폐를 제어하여 상기 탈이온 필터를 통해 물이 흐르는 방향을 변경하는 제어부를 포함하며,
    상기 제2 유로는 일단이 상기 제1 밸브의 전단에서 분기되어 타단이 상기 제4 밸브의 전단에서 상기 제4 유로와 연결되고, 상기 제3 유로는 일단이 상기 제1 밸브의 후단에서 분기되어 타단이 상기 제4 밸브의 후단에서 상기 제4 유로와 연결되는 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 탈이온 필터는 제1 전극, 제2 전극, 상기 제1 전극과 상기 제2 전극의 사이에 위치하는 하나 이상의 바이폴라 이온교환시트를 포함하며,
    상기 탈이온 필터는 원통형으로 형성된 하우징 내에 포함되고, 상기 하우징의 측면 및 상측에 각각 상기 탈이온 필터로의 물의 유출입을 위한 제1 통로 및 제2 통로가 형성되며,
    상기 제2 전극은 상기 하우징의 중심부에 배치되고,
    상기 하나 이상의 바이폴라 이온교환시트는 상기 제2 전극을 중심으로 나선형으로 배치되고,
    상기 제1 전극은 나선형으로 배치된 상기 하나 이상의 바이폴라 이온교환시트의 외주면을 나선형으로 둘러싸는 형태로 배치되는 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기.
  3. 제 2 항에 있어서,
    상기 제어부는 상기 제1 밸브 및 상기 제4 밸브를 개방하고 제2 밸브 및 제3 밸브를 폐쇄하여, 상기 제1 통로를 통해 상기 탈이온 필터로 물이 유입되고, 상기 제2 통로를 통해 상기 탈이온 필터를 통과한 정수가 배출되도록 제어하는 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기.
  4. 제 3 항에 있어서,
    상기 제어부는 정수 성능이 향상될 필요가 있는 경우 제2 밸브 및 제3 밸브를 개방하고 상기 제1 밸브 및 상기 제4 밸브를 폐쇄하여, 상기 제2 통로를 통해 상기 탈이온 필터로 물이 유입되고, 상기 제1 통로를 통해 상기 탈이온 필터를 통과한 정수가 배출되도록 제어하는 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기.
  5. 제 4 항에 있어서,
    상기 제1 유로 상에 구비되어 상기 탈이온 필터로 유입되는 물의 전도도를 측정하는 전도도계를 더 포함하며,
    상기 제어부는 상기 전도도계에 의해 측정된 전도도값으로부터 산출된 TDS 농도가 기 설정된 임계치 이상인 경우 정수 성능이 향상될 필요가 있는 것으로 판단하는 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기.
  6. 제 3 항에 있어서,
    상기 제어부는 정수 성능을 유지하면서 전력 소비를 감소시킬 필요가 있는 경우 제2 밸브 및 제3 밸브를 개방하고 상기 제1 밸브 및 상기 제4 밸브를 폐쇄하여, 상기 제2 통로를 통해 상기 탈이온 필터로 물이 유입되고, 상기 제1 통로를 통해 상기 탈이온 필터를 통과한 정수가 배출되도록 제어하고, 상기 전원 공급부가 상기 탈이온 필터로 인가하는 상기 탈이온 전압의 세기를 줄이도록 제어하는 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기.
  7. 제 2 항에 있어서,
    상기 제어부는 제2 밸브 및 제3 밸브를 개방하고 상기 제1 밸브 및 상기 제4 밸브를 폐쇄하여, 상기 제2 통로를 통해 상기 탈이온 필터로 물이 유입되고, 상기 제1 통로를 통해 상기 탈이온 필터를 통과한 정수가 배출되도록 제어하는 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기.
  8. 제 7 항에 있어서,
    상기 제어부는 상기 전원 공급부가 상기 탈이온 필터로 인가하는 상기 탈이온 전압의 세기를 줄이도록 제어하는 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기.
  9. 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기에 탑재된 프로세서에 의해 상기 정수기의 동작을 제어하는 방법에 있어서,
    전도도계에 의해 상기 탈이온 필터로 유입되는 물의 전도도를 측정하고, 측정된 전도도값으로부터 TDS 농도를 산출하는 단계;
    상기 TDS 농도가 기 설정된 임계치 미만이면, 상기 탈이온 필터를 통해 물이 흐르는 방향이 제1 방향이 되도록 제어하는 단계; 및
    상기 탈이온 필터에 제1 전원을 인가하는 단계를 포함하는 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기의 제어 방법.
  10. 제 9 항에 있어서,
    상기 TDS 농도가 상기 임계치 이상이면, 상기 탈이온 필터를 통해 물이 흐르는 방향이 상기 제1 방향의 반대인 제2 방향이 되도록 제어하는 단계; 및
    상기 탈이온 필터에 제1 전원 또는 제2 전원을 인가하는 단계를 더 포함하며,
    상기 제2 전원은 상기 제1 전원보다 낮은 값으로 설정되는 탈이온 필터를 구비하는 정수기의 제어 방법.
