Provided herein are methods relating to the use of DNA methylation as a biomarker for metabolic syndrome; methods of diagnosing metabolic syndrome in a subject; methods of selecting a subject for treatment to reduce one or more signs or symptoms of metabolic syndrome; and methods of treating a subject having metabolic syndrome.
