Definitions

  • the present application relates to post-surgical care devices and, more particularly, to a compression dressing.
  • incisions allow access for repair, treatment, and/or replacement of deep anatomic structures.
  • making an incision allows access for bacteria and causes iatrogenic damage that results in surrounding edema.
  • Significant care and attention are typically given to the incisions to minimize swelling, limit bacterial or environmental contamination, and provide a clean environment to allow for healing.
  • This is typically accomplished by application of various types of dressings and/or therapy.
  • Conventional dressing is applied immediately post- operatively in the operating room to minimize the potential for contamination.
  • Rest, elevation, and in some cases immobilization are also prescribed post- operatively to help create a healing environment, decrease swelling, and minimize pain.
