Abstract
This invention relates to a method of determining the optimal positioning of the glenoid and humeral component. The method is a preplanned surgery on a specific software design an electronic model of patient specific instruments perform the correct and accurate position of the glenoid and humeral component for the patient going to total shoulder replacement surgery. This method identifies in a clear manner the center of the glenoid component; that gives the surgeons an easy way to orientate the glenoid component in the correct location over the densest area of bone and relative to a medial point of the patient's scapula and aligned with the coracoid bone level. Another goal of this method is to identify the retroversion and the location and slope of cutting level over the humeral head with a specific angle according to the diagnosis of the case based on the CT-Scan. The 3D printing technologies will carry out producing of these patient specific templates.
Claims
1. A patient specific device used in total shoulder arthroplasty surgeries based on the CT scan data of the patient and the anatomical structure of the shoulder joint based on software pre-operative planning; wherein the device is characterized by a glenoid part and a humeral part; wherein the humeral part is used for cutting the humeral bone and the glenoid part is used for making openings on the glenoid cavity.
2. The device mentioned in claim (1), whereas the humeral part (6, 12) is
characterized by cutting plane surface (3, 11) which is used for cutting humeral bone.
3. The device mentioned in claim (1), whereas the humeral part (6, 12) is
characterized by the seating surface (8, 13) which is matched with surface of the bone and is used to seat the device on the bone.
4. The device mentioned in claim (1), whereas the humeral part (6, 12) is
characterized by a fixing hook (4) which is seated onto the bicipital groove (1) to prevent the device displacement.
5. The device mentioned in claim (1), whereas the glenoid component (18, 24, 27, 31) is characterized by openings (15, 20) which are used for making paths for inserting the glenoid component.
6. The device mentioned in claim (1), whereas the glenoid component (18, 24, 27, 31) is characterized by seating surface (17, 23, 26, 30) which is matched with the surface of the bone and is used to seat the device on the bone.
7. The device mentioned in claim (1), whereas the glenoid component (18, 24, 27, 31) is characterized by the ability to be seated on the coracoid process via the wing (29).
