Abstract

Description
本発明は、変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレン、成形物、および、延伸多孔体の製造方法に関する。
ポリテトラフルオロエチレンは、その優れた性質のため種々の用途に用いられている。
中でも、テトラフルオロエチレンと他の単量体とを用いた変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンに関しては、種々検討されている(特許文献1)。
中でも、テトラフルオロエチレンと他の単量体とを用いた変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンに関しては、種々検討されている(特許文献1)。
近年、破断強度に優れる変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンが求められている。
なお、一般的に、変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンの製造の際には、フッ素系界面活性剤が使用されている。しかし、近年、環境問題の観点から、フッ素系界面活性剤の使用が制限されつつある。そのため、フッ素系界面活性剤を用いずに製造可能である、変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンが望ましい。
なお、一般的に、変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンの製造の際には、フッ素系界面活性剤が使用されている。しかし、近年、環境問題の観点から、フッ素系界面活性剤の使用が制限されつつある。そのため、フッ素系界面活性剤を用いずに製造可能である、変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンが望ましい。
本発明は、破断強度に優れる変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンの提供を目的とする。
また、本発明は、成形物、および、延伸多孔体の製造方法の提供も目的とする。

本発明者らは、上記目的を達成すべく鋭意検討した結果、以下の構成により上記目的を達成できることを見出した。
(1) テトラフルオロエチレンに基づく単位を有する重合体と、式(1)で表される単量体に基づく単位を有する重合体とを含む変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンであって、
前記式(1)で表される単量体に基づく単位の含有量が、前記変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンの全単位に対して、10~500質量ppmであり、
標準比重が2.155~2.175である、変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレン。

R1は、水素原子またはアルキル基を表す。Lは、単結合、-CO-O-*、-O-CO-*または-O-を表す。*はR2との結合位置を表す。R2は、水素原子、アルキル基またはニトリル基を表す。

(6) ペースト押出成形用である、(1)~(5)のいずれかに記載の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレン。
(7) (1)~(6)のいずれかに記載の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンがペースト押出成形されてなる成形物。
(8) (1)~(6)のいずれかに記載の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンをペースト押出して押出ビードを得て、前記押出ビードを延伸して延伸多孔体を得る、延伸多孔体の製造方法。
(6) ペースト押出成形用である、(1)~(5)のいずれかに記載の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレン。
(7) (1)~(6)のいずれかに記載の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンがペースト押出成形されてなる成形物。
(8) (1)~(6)のいずれかに記載の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンをペースト押出して押出ビードを得て、前記押出ビードを延伸して延伸多孔体を得る、延伸多孔体の製造方法。
本発明によれば、破断強度に優れる変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンを提供できる。
また、本発明によれば、前記変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンを用いた成形物、および、延伸多孔体の製造方法を提供できる。

本発明における用語の意味は以下の通りである。
「単位」とは、単量体が重合して直接形成された、単量体1分子に由来する原子団の総称である。重合体が含む全単位に対する、それぞれの単位の含有量(質量%)は、重合体を固体核磁気共鳴スペクトル(NMR)法により分析して求められるが、各単量体の仕込み量から推算できる。通常、各単量体の仕込み量から計算される各単位の含有量は、実際の各単位の含有量と略一致している。
「単位」とは、単量体が重合して直接形成された、単量体1分子に由来する原子団の総称である。重合体が含む全単位に対する、それぞれの単位の含有量(質量%)は、重合体を固体核磁気共鳴スペクトル(NMR)法により分析して求められるが、各単量体の仕込み量から推算できる。通常、各単量体の仕込み量から計算される各単位の含有量は、実際の各単位の含有量と略一致している。
本発明の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレン(以下、「変性PTFE」ともいう。)の特徴点としては、テトラフルオロエチレン(以下、「TFE」ともいう。)に基づく単位(以後、「TFE単位」ともいう)を有する重合体と、所定量含まれる後述する式(1)で表される単量体(以下、「単量体A」ともいう。)に基づく単位(以後、「A単位」ともいう。)を有する重合体とを含む点が挙げられる。驚くべきことに、上記組成の変性PTFEは、破断強度に優れる。
また、後述するように、本発明の変性PTFEは、フッ素系界面活性剤を用いることなく製造可能である。
なお、以下、A単位を有する重合体を「重合体A」ともいう。

<変性PTFE>
本発明の変性PTFEは、TFE単位を有する重合体と、A単位を有する重合体とを含む。
本発明の変性PTFEは、TFE単位を有する重合体とA単位を有する重合体との混合物であってもよく、さらにTFE単位とA単位を有する共重合体を含む混合物であってもよい。後述の好ましい変性PTFEの製法が示唆するように、本発明の変性PTFEは、TFE単位を有する重合体とA単位を有する重合体のそれぞれ独立した重合体の混合物のみからなるばかりでなく、TFE単位とA単位とを有する共重合体も含まれている場合があると推測される。
本発明の変性PTFEは、TFE単位を有する重合体と、A単位を有する重合体とを含む。
本発明の変性PTFEは、TFE単位を有する重合体とA単位を有する重合体との混合物であってもよく、さらにTFE単位とA単位を有する共重合体を含む混合物であってもよい。後述の好ましい変性PTFEの製法が示唆するように、本発明の変性PTFEは、TFE単位を有する重合体とA単位を有する重合体のそれぞれ独立した重合体の混合物のみからなるばかりでなく、TFE単位とA単位とを有する共重合体も含まれている場合があると推測される。

変性PTFEは、TFE単位を有する重合体を含む。
変性PTFEは、通常、TFE単位を有する重合体を主成分として含む。主成分とは、変性PTFEの全単位に対して、TFE単位を有する重合体の含有量が99.700質量%以上を意図し、99.900質量%以上が好ましい。

室温で2時間以上放置された試料(変性PTFE)(100g)を内容量500mLのガラス瓶に入れ、潤滑油(アイソパーH(登録商標)、エクソン社製)の21.7gを添加し、3分間混合して混合物を得る。得られた混合物を25℃恒温槽に2時間放置した後に、リダクションレシオ(ダイスの入り口の断面積と出口の断面積の比)100、押出速度51cm/分の条件で、25℃にて、直径2.5cm、ランド長1.1cm、導入角30°のオリフィスを通して、ペースト押出し押出ビード(ひも状物)を得る。このときの押出に要する圧力を測定し、押出圧力(単位:MPa)とする。
押出圧力の測定は、以下の通りである。
室温で2時間以上放置された試料(変性PTFE)(100g)を内容量500mLのガラス瓶に入れ、潤滑油(アイソパーH(登録商標)、エクソン社製)の21.7gを添加し、3分間混合して混合物を得る。得られた混合物を25℃恒温槽に2時間放置した後に、リダクションレシオ(ダイスの入り口の断面積と出口の断面積の比)100、押出速度51cm/分の条件で、25℃にて、直径2.5cm、ランド長1.1cm、導入角30°のオリフィスを通して、ペースト押出し押出ビード(ひも状物)を得る。このときの押出に要する圧力を測定し、押出圧力(単位:MPa)とする。
変性PTFEの破断強度Aは、5.0N以上が好ましく、8.0N以上がより好ましい。変性PTFEの破断強度Aは、通常、50N以下である。
破断強度Aの測定は、以下の通りである。
押出圧力の測定方法と同様にして押出ビードを得て、これを230℃で30分間乾燥し、潤滑剤を除去する。次に、押出ビードを適当な長さに切断し、クランプ間隔5.1cmとなるように両方の末端を固定し、空気循環炉中で300℃に加熱した。続いて、延伸速度100%/秒、延伸倍率2400%の条件で延伸して、変性PTFE延伸多孔体(以下、延伸ビードという。)を得る。
延伸ビードの各末端から得られるサンプル(クランプの範囲においてネックダウンがあればそれを除く)、および、延伸ビードの中心部から得られるサンプルの計3個について、引張り試験機(エイアンドディ社製)を用いて引張り破断負荷力をそれぞれ測定し、最小の値を破断強度Aとする。
引張り試験機での測定では、サンプルを、5.0cmのゲージ長である可動ジョーにおいて挟んで固定し、室温(24℃)にて、可動ジョーを300mm/分のスピードで駆動させて、引張り応力を付加する。
破断強度Aの測定は、以下の通りである。
押出圧力の測定方法と同様にして押出ビードを得て、これを230℃で30分間乾燥し、潤滑剤を除去する。次に、押出ビードを適当な長さに切断し、クランプ間隔5.1cmとなるように両方の末端を固定し、空気循環炉中で300℃に加熱した。続いて、延伸速度100%/秒、延伸倍率2400%の条件で延伸して、変性PTFE延伸多孔体(以下、延伸ビードという。)を得る。

後述する方法で測定される、変性PTFEの破断強度Bは、21.0N以上が好ましく、23.0N以上がより好ましい。変性PTFEの破断強度Bは、通常、70N以下である。

上記変性PTFEの製造方法は、公知の方法を採用できる。ただし、公知の方法、特に乳化重合法を用いた公知の製造方法においては、通常、フッ素系界面活性剤が使用されている。しかし、前記のように、環境問題の観点から、フッ素系界面活性剤を使用することなく変性PTFEを製造することが好ましい。
本発明の変性PTFEは、フッ素系界面活性剤を使用することなく製造された変性PTFEであること、すなわち、フッ素系界面活性剤の不存在下でTFEを重合して得られた変性PTFEであることが好ましい。
さらには、フッ素系界面活性剤を含まない本発明の変性PTFEとしては、A単位を含む重合体Aが存在する水性媒体中で、TFEを重合することによって得られた変性PTFEが好ましい。
上記重合体Aが存在する水性媒体は、水性媒体中で単量体Aを重合して得られた、重合体Aが存在する水性媒体であることが好ましい。水性媒体中での単量体Aを重合および重合体Aが存在する水性媒体中でのTFEの重合のいずれにおいてもフッ素系界面活性剤の不存在下に重合を行うことにより、フッ素系界面活性剤を含まない変性PTFEを製造することができる。
本発明の変性PTFEは、フッ素系界面活性剤を使用することなく製造された変性PTFEであること、すなわち、フッ素系界面活性剤の不存在下でTFEを重合して得られた変性PTFEであることが好ましい。
さらには、フッ素系界面活性剤を含まない本発明の変性PTFEとしては、A単位を含む重合体Aが存在する水性媒体中で、TFEを重合することによって得られた変性PTFEが好ましい。
上記重合体Aが存在する水性媒体は、水性媒体中で単量体Aを重合して得られた、重合体Aが存在する水性媒体であることが好ましい。水性媒体中での単量体Aを重合および重合体Aが存在する水性媒体中でのTFEの重合のいずれにおいてもフッ素系界面活性剤の不存在下に重合を行うことにより、フッ素系界面活性剤を含まない変性PTFEを製造することができる。
変性PTFEの製造方法の好適態様の一つとしては、以下の2つの工程を有する態様が挙げられる。
工程1:水性媒体中にて、単量体Aの重合を行い、重合体Aを含む水性媒体を得る工程

水溶性酸化還元系触媒としては、臭素酸またはその塩、塩素酸またはその塩、過硫酸またはその塩、過マンガン酸またはその塩、過酸化水素などの酸化剤と、亜硫酸またはその塩、亜硫酸水素またはその塩、チオ硫酸またはその塩、有機酸などの還元剤、との組み合わせが好ましい。中でも、臭素酸またはその塩と、亜硫酸またはその塩、亜硫酸アンモニウムとの組み合わせ、過マンガン酸またはその塩、過マンガン酸カリウムと、シュウ酸との組み合わせがより好ましい。

重合時の圧力条件は、減圧条件または常圧条件が好ましい。
また、重合時の雰囲気をTFE雰囲気として、重合を行ってもよい。なお、通常、水性媒体中での単量体Aの重合が、TFEの重合よりも優先して進行する。

上記工程1により、重合体Aの粒子が水性媒体中で分散している、重合体Aを含む水性媒体が得られる。後述する工程2のTFEの重合の際に、重合体Aの粒子は乳化剤ではないが、水性媒体および重合途中の変性PTFE粒子双方に対する界面張力のバランスにより重合体Aの粒子が双方の境界に存在して、変性PTFE粒子の水性媒体中における分散安定化に寄与すると推測される。工程2により得られた変性PTFEの粒子は重合体Aの粒子を含む粒子である。

炭化水素系アニオン系界面活性剤としては、例えば、ドデシル硫酸ナトリウム、ラウリル硫酸ナトリウム、ラウリル硫酸アンモニウム、ポリオキシエチレンラウリルエーテル硫酸ナトリウム、ポリオキシエチレンラウリルエーテル硫酸アンモニウム、ドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸ナトリウム、ジ(2-エチルヘキシル)スルホコハク酸ナトリウム、ラウリン酸ナトリウム、ラウリン酸アンモニウムが挙げられる。

(水性媒体)
工程2における重合体Aを含む水性媒体としては、工程1で得られた重合体Aを含む水性媒体、または、工程1で得られた重合体Aを含む水性媒体を水性媒体で希釈して得られる重合体Aを含む水性媒体、を使用する。希釈用の水性媒体は、工程1で使用した水性媒体と同じ水性媒体であってもよく、異なる水性媒体であってもよい。
工程2における重合体Aを含む水性媒体としては、工程1で得られた重合体Aを含む水性媒体、または、工程1で得られた重合体Aを含む水性媒体を水性媒体で希釈して得られる重合体Aを含む水性媒体、を使用する。希釈用の水性媒体は、工程1で使用した水性媒体と同じ水性媒体であってもよく、異なる水性媒体であってもよい。

また、工程2では、本発明の効果を損なわない範囲で、TFE以外の単量体を使用してもよいが、変性PTFEの各種特性がより優れる点で、TFEの合計使用量が、工程2で使用される単量体の合計使用量に対して、99.5質量%以上が好ましい。中でも、工程2では単量体としてTFEのみを用いるのがより好ましい。
また、工程2では、本発明の効果を損なわない範囲で、TFE以外の単量体を使用してもよいが、変性PTFEの各種特性がより優れる点で、TFEの合計使用量が、工程2で使用される単量体の合計使用量に対して、99.5質量%以上が好ましい。中でも、工程2では単量体としてTFEのみを用いるのがより好ましい。
(工程の手順)
TFEは、常法により、重合系(つまり、重合反応容器)に投入される。具体的には、重合圧力が所定の圧力となるように、TFEは連続的または断続的に重合系に投入される。
重合開始剤を用いる場合、重合開始剤は重合系に一括して添加されてもよいし、分割して添加されてもよい。

なお、工程1および工程2は、同一の重合反応容器内で連続的に行ってもよい。
また、本発明の製造方法においては、工程1において重合体Aの粒子が形成されればよく、工程1において完全に単量体Aが消費される前に、工程2を実施してもよい。

上記手順によって、変性PTFEが粒子状に分散した水性分散液(変性PTFE粒子を含む水性分散液)が得られる。水性分散液中での変性PTFE粒子の濃度は、10~45質量%が好ましく、15~45質量%がより好ましく、20~43質量%がさらに好ましい。上記範囲内であれば、水性分散液中の変性PTFE粒子をより容易に凝析でき、かつ、凝析液の白濁を抑制できる。
変性PTFE粒子の平均一次粒子径の好適範囲は、上述した通りである。

上記では工程1を実施する態様について述べたが、水性媒体中にて、重合体Aの粒子の存在下、TFEの重合を行えれば、他の方法でもよい。例えば、別途用意した重合体Aの粒子を水性媒体中に添加して、その後、その水性媒体中にてTFEの重合を行う方法でもよい。
<変性PTFE粉末>
上記製造方法の手順によって、変性PTFEを含む水性分散液が得られる。
なお、変性PTFE粒子を含む水性分散液から、変性PTFE粒子からなる変性PTFE粉末(変性PTFEファインパウダー)を得る方法としては、例えば、変性PTFE粒子を凝集させる方法が挙げられる。
具体的には、変性PTFE粒子を含む水性分散液の変性PTFEの濃度が8~25質量%になるように水で希釈するなどして、水性分散液の温度を5~35℃に調整した後、水性分散液を激しく撹拌して変性PTFE粒子を凝集させる。この際、必要に応じてpHを調節してもよい。また、電解質や水溶性の有機溶剤などの凝集助剤を水性分散液に加えてもよい。
その後、適度な撹拌を行い、凝集した変性PTFE粒子を水から分離し、得られた湿潤粉末(ウェットファインパウダー)を必要に応じて造粒および整粒し、次いで、必要に応じて乾燥する。これにより変性PTFE粉末が得られる。
上記製造方法の手順によって、変性PTFEを含む水性分散液が得られる。

なかでも、未乾燥の変性PTFE粉末の乾燥は、アンモニアを含む雰囲気下で行うのが好ましい。ここで、アンモニアを含む雰囲気とは、未乾燥の変性PTFE粉末にアンモニアガスが接触し得る雰囲気を意味する。例えば、アンモニアガスを含む雰囲気や、未乾燥の変性PTFE粉末を含む水分中にアンモニアまたはアンモニアを発生する化合物が溶解していて、加熱等によってアンモニアガスが発生する雰囲気などを意味する。
アンモニアを発生する化合物としては、例えば、アンモニウム塩、尿素が挙げられる。これらの化合物は、加熱により分解してアンモニアガスを発生する。
アンモニアを含む雰囲気下で未乾燥の変性PTFE粉末を乾燥すると、物性を損なうこと無く、変性PTFE粉末のペースト押出圧力を下げられる。
アンモニアを発生する化合物としては、例えば、アンモニウム塩、尿素が挙げられる。これらの化合物は、加熱により分解してアンモニアガスを発生する。
アンモニアを含む雰囲気下で未乾燥の変性PTFE粉末を乾燥すると、物性を損なうこと無く、変性PTFE粉末のペースト押出圧力を下げられる。
<成形物>
上述した変性PTFEは、ペースト押出成形用に好適に適用できる。
変性PTFE(特に、変性PTFE粉末)をペースト押出成形し、所望の成形品が得られる。
ペースト押出成形とは、変性PTFE粉末と潤滑剤とを混合し、変性PTFE粉末に流動性を持たせ、これを押出成形して、例えば、フィルム、チューブの成形物を成形する方法である。
潤滑剤の混合割合は、変性PTFE粉末が流動性を有するように適宜選定すればよく、例えば、変性PTFE粉末と潤滑剤との合計量を100質量%とした場合、10~30質量%が好ましく、15~20質量%がより好ましい。
潤滑剤としては、例えば、ナフサ、乾点が100℃以上の石油系炭化水素が好ましい。
混合物には、着色を目的として顔料等の添加剤を添加してもよく、強度および導電性等の付与を目的として各種充填剤を添加してもよい。
上述した変性PTFEは、ペースト押出成形用に好適に適用できる。

延伸多孔体で構成される物品の形状としては、例えば、チューブ状、シート状、フィルム状、繊維状が挙げられる。
また、変性PTFE粉末をペースト押出して押出ビードを得て、押出ビードを延伸し、変性PTFEの延伸多孔体が得られる。延伸条件としては、例えば、5~1000%/秒の速度で、500%以上の延伸倍率が挙げられる。
延伸多孔体で構成される物品の形状としては、例えば、チューブ状、シート状、フィルム状、繊維状が挙げられる。
以下に、実施例および比較例により本発明をより詳細に説明するが、本発明はこれらに限定されない。
各種測定方法および評価方法は下記のとおりである。
(A)変性PTFE粒子の平均一次粒子径(nm)(以下、「PPS」ともいう。)
変性PTFE粒子の水性分散液を試料とし、レーザー散乱法粒子径分布分析計(堀場製作所製、商品名「LA-920」)を用いて測定した。

(B)標準比重(SSG)
ASTM D4895-04に準拠して測定した。
12.0gの試料(変性PTFE粉末)を計量し、内径28.6mmの円筒金型で34.5MPaで2分間保持した。これを290℃のオーブンへ入れて120℃/hrで昇温した。さらに、380℃で30分間保持した後、60℃/hrで降温して294℃で24分間保持した。試料を23℃のデシケーター中で12時間保持した後、23℃での試料の水に対する比重値を測定し、これを標準比重とした。SSGの値が小さいほど、分子量が大きい。
ASTM D4895-04に準拠して測定した。
12.0gの試料(変性PTFE粉末)を計量し、内径28.6mmの円筒金型で34.5MPaで2分間保持した。これを290℃のオーブンへ入れて120℃/hrで昇温した。さらに、380℃で30分間保持した後、60℃/hrで降温して294℃で24分間保持した。試料を23℃のデシケーター中で12時間保持した後、23℃での試料の水に対する比重値を測定し、これを標準比重とした。SSGの値が小さいほど、分子量が大きい。
(C)押出圧力の測定
室温で2時間以上放置された変性PTFE粉末(100g)を内容量500mLのガラス瓶に入れ、潤滑油(アイソパーH(登録商標)、エクソン社製)(21.7g)を添加し、3分間混合して混合物を得た。得られた混合物を25℃恒温槽に2時間放置した後に、リダクションレシオ(ダイスの入り口の断面積と出口の断面積の比)100、押出速度51cm/分の条件で、25℃にて、直径2.5cm、ランド長1.1cm、導入角30°のオリフィスを通して、ペースト押出を行い、押出ビード(ひも状物)を得た。このときの押出に要する圧力を測定し、押出圧力(単位:MPa)とした。
室温で2時間以上放置された変性PTFE粉末(100g)を内容量500mLのガラス瓶に入れ、潤滑油(アイソパーH(登録商標)、エクソン社製)(21.7g)を添加し、3分間混合して混合物を得た。得られた混合物を25℃恒温槽に2時間放置した後に、リダクションレシオ(ダイスの入り口の断面積と出口の断面積の比)100、押出速度51cm/分の条件で、25℃にて、直径2.5cm、ランド長1.1cm、導入角30°のオリフィスを通して、ペースト押出を行い、押出ビード(ひも状物)を得た。このときの押出に要する圧力を測定し、押出圧力(単位:MPa)とした。
(D)破断強度Aの測定
押出圧力の測定と同様にして押出ビードを得て、これを230℃で30分間乾燥し、潤滑剤を除去した。次に、押出ビードを適当な長さに切断し、クランプ間隔5.1cmとなるように両方の末端を固定し、空気循環炉中で300℃に加熱した。続いて、延伸速度100%/秒、延伸倍率2400%の条件で延伸して、変性PTFE延伸多孔体(以下、延伸ビードという。)を得た。
延伸ビードの各末端から得られるサンプル(クランプの範囲においてネックダウンがあればそれを除く)、および、延伸ビードの中心部から得られるサンプルの計3個について、引張り試験機(エイアンドディ社製)を用いて引張り破断負荷力をそれぞれ測定し、最小の値を破断強度Aとした。
引張り試験機での測定では、サンプルを、5.0cmのゲージ長である可動ジョーにおいて挟んで固定し、室温(24℃)にて、可動ジョーを300mm/分のスピードで駆動させて、引張り応力を付加した。
押出圧力の測定と同様にして押出ビードを得て、これを230℃で30分間乾燥し、潤滑剤を除去した。次に、押出ビードを適当な長さに切断し、クランプ間隔5.1cmとなるように両方の末端を固定し、空気循環炉中で300℃に加熱した。続いて、延伸速度100%/秒、延伸倍率2400%の条件で延伸して、変性PTFE延伸多孔体(以下、延伸ビードという。)を得た。
延伸ビードの各末端から得られるサンプル(クランプの範囲においてネックダウンがあればそれを除く)、および、延伸ビードの中心部から得られるサンプルの計3個について、引張り試験機(エイアンドディ社製)を用いて引張り破断負荷力をそれぞれ測定し、最小の値を破断強度Aとした。
引張り試験機での測定では、サンプルを、5.0cmのゲージ長である可動ジョーにおいて挟んで固定し、室温(24℃)にて、可動ジョーを300mm/分のスピードで駆動させて、引張り応力を付加した。
(E)応力緩和時間の測定
クランプ間隔3.8cm、延伸速度1000%/秒、総延伸2400%の条件で、破断強度の測定と同様にして、押出ビードを延伸し、応力緩和時間の測定用のサンプルを作製した。このサンプルの両方の末端を固定具で固定し、ぴんと張り全長25cmとした。応力緩和時間は、このサンプルを390℃のオーブン中に放置したときに破断するのに要する時間を求めた。
クランプ間隔3.8cm、延伸速度1000%/秒、総延伸2400%の条件で、破断強度の測定と同様にして、押出ビードを延伸し、応力緩和時間の測定用のサンプルを作製した。このサンプルの両方の末端を固定具で固定し、ぴんと張り全長25cmとした。応力緩和時間は、このサンプルを390℃のオーブン中に放置したときに破断するのに要する時間を求めた。
(F)破断強度Bの測定
応力緩和時間の評価と同様にして、押出ビードを延伸し、応力緩和時間の測定用のサンプルと同じサンプルを作製した。次に、破断強度の測定と同様の測定を行い、破断強度Bの値を得た。

(実施例1)
100Lのステンレス鋼製オートクレーブに、パラフィンワックス(1500g)、脱イオン(60L)を仕込んだ。オートクレーブを窒素置換した後、減圧にして、n-ブチルメタクリレート(1g)と脱イオン水(0.5L)とを、オートクレーブ内に注ぎながら仕込んだ。なお、n-ブチルメタクリレートに基づく単位の含有量が、得られる変性PTFEの全単位に対して、48質量ppmとなるように、n-ブチルメタクリレートを仕込んだ。
次に、オートクレーブ内を大気圧以下の状態として、オートクレーブ内の溶液を撹拌しながら75℃に昇温した。その後、重合開始剤である過硫酸アンモニウム(0.11g)を脱イオン水(1L)に溶解させた溶液を、オートクレーブ内に注入し、n-ブチルメタクリレートを重合させた。
100Lのステンレス鋼製オートクレーブに、パラフィンワックス(1500g)、脱イオン(60L)を仕込んだ。オートクレーブを窒素置換した後、減圧にして、n-ブチルメタクリレート(1g)と脱イオン水(0.5L)とを、オートクレーブ内に注ぎながら仕込んだ。なお、n-ブチルメタクリレートに基づく単位の含有量が、得られる変性PTFEの全単位に対して、48質量ppmとなるように、n-ブチルメタクリレートを仕込んだ。
次に、オートクレーブ内を大気圧以下の状態として、オートクレーブ内の溶液を撹拌しながら75℃に昇温した。その後、重合開始剤である過硫酸アンモニウム(0.11g)を脱イオン水(1L)に溶解させた溶液を、オートクレーブ内に注入し、n-ブチルメタクリレートを重合させた。
10分後に、TFEで1.96MPaまで加圧し、過硫酸アンモニウム(0.54g)およびジコハク酸過酸化物(濃度80質量%、残り水)(53g)を約70℃の温水(1L)に溶解させた溶液を、オートクレーブ内に注入した。1379秒後には、オートクレーブ内の内圧が1.89MPaまで降下した。なお、上記重合開始剤(過硫酸アンモニウムおよびジコハク酸過酸化物)の使用量は、TFEの全使用量に対して、0.26質量%であった。
次に、オートクレーブ内の内圧を1.96MPaに保つようにTFEを添加し、TFEの重合を進行させた。TFEを1kg添加した後、ドデシル硫酸ナトリウム(44g)を脱イオン水(3L)に溶解させた溶液を、供給されるTFE1kgに対して、ドデシル硫酸ナトリウムが1.5~1.6gとなるように、供給されるTFE量を流量計で確認しながら、ドデシル硫酸ナトリウムの供給を行った。
TFEの添加量が21kgになったところで反応を終了させ、オートクレーブ内のTFEを大気放出した。重合時間は226分だった。

得られた変性PTFEの水性分散液を冷却し、上澄みのパラフィンワックスを除去した。水性分散液の固形分濃度(変性PTFEの濃度)は約23質量%であった。また、水性分散液中の変性PTFEの平均一次粒子径は260nmだった。
水性分散液を純水で固形分濃度10質量%に希釈し、20℃に調整して撹拌し、変性PTFE粒子を凝集させ、変性PTFE粉末を取得した。次に、この変性PTFE粉末を250℃で乾燥した。
得られた変性PTFE粉末のSSGは2.162だった。押出圧力は21.6MPaだった。破断強度は21.1Nだった。応力緩和時間は、180秒だった。
水性分散液を純水で固形分濃度10質量%に希釈し、20℃に調整して撹拌し、変性PTFE粒子を凝集させ、変性PTFE粉末を取得した。次に、この変性PTFE粉末を250℃で乾燥した。
得られた変性PTFE粉末のSSGは2.162だった。押出圧力は21.6MPaだった。破断強度は21.1Nだった。応力緩和時間は、180秒だった。
(実施例2)
オートクレーブ内を大気圧以下の状態として、オートクレーブ内の溶液を撹拌しながら75℃に昇温した処理の代わりに、オートクレーブ内をTFEで0.15MPaまで昇圧し、オートクレーブ内の溶液を撹拌しながら75℃に昇温する処理を実施した以外は、上記(実施例1)と同様の手順に従って、変性PTFEの水性分散液を得た。
各種評価は、表1にまとめて示す。
オートクレーブ内を大気圧以下の状態として、オートクレーブ内の溶液を撹拌しながら75℃に昇温した処理の代わりに、オートクレーブ内をTFEで0.15MPaまで昇圧し、オートクレーブ内の溶液を撹拌しながら75℃に昇温する処理を実施した以外は、上記(実施例1)と同様の手順に従って、変性PTFEの水性分散液を得た。
各種評価は、表1にまとめて示す。
(実施例3)
n-ブチルメタクリレートに基づく単位の含有量が、得られる変性PTFEの全単位に対して、56質量ppmとなるように、n-ブチルメタクリレートを仕込み、TFEの使用量を21kgから18kgに変更した以外は、実施例1と同様の手順に従って、変性PTFE粉末を得た。
各種評価は、表1にまとめて示す。
n-ブチルメタクリレートに基づく単位の含有量が、得られる変性PTFEの全単位に対して、56質量ppmとなるように、n-ブチルメタクリレートを仕込み、TFEの使用量を21kgから18kgに変更した以外は、実施例1と同様の手順に従って、変性PTFE粉末を得た。
各種評価は、表1にまとめて示す。

n-ブチルメタクリレートを酢酸ビニルに変更した以外は、実施例3と同様の手順に従って、変性PTFE粉末を得た。

n-ブチルメタクリレートに基づく単位の含有量が、得られる変性PTFEの全単位に対して、83質量ppmとなるように、n-ブチルメタクリレートを仕込み、TFEの使用量を21kgから12kgに変更した以外は、実施例1と同様の手順に従って、変性PTFE粉末を得た。
各種評価は、表1にまとめて示す。

n-ブチルメタクリレートをアクリル酸に変更し、アクリル酸に基づく単位の含有量が、得られる変性PTFEの全単位に対して、100質量ppmとなるように、アクリル酸を仕込み、TFEの使用量を21kgから10kgに変更した以外は、実施例1と同様の手順に従って、変性PTFE粉末を得た。
各種評価は、表1にまとめて示す。

(実施例8)
実施例2の変性PTFEの水性乳化液を純水で濃度10質量%に希釈し、20℃に調整して、撹拌し凝集をさせる際に、凝集槽内の変性PTFEに対して、5質量%の炭酸アンモニウムを仕込んで凝集を行った。次に、得られた未乾燥変性PTFEファインパウダーの含水率を測定し、その値を基に、乾燥用トレイに、未乾燥変性PTFEファインパウダーと、変性PTFEに対して5質量%となる炭酸アンモニウム水溶液(炭酸アンモニウム濃度:20質量%)とを同時に盛り付け、得られた乾燥用トレイを285℃で乾燥した。
得られた試料を用いて、破断強度および応力緩和時間の測定を行った。破断強度Aは28.2N、破断強度Bは33.8Nであった。応力緩和時間は、176秒であった。
実施例2の変性PTFEの水性乳化液を純水で濃度10質量%に希釈し、20℃に調整して、撹拌し凝集をさせる際に、凝集槽内の変性PTFEに対して、5質量%の炭酸アンモニウムを仕込んで凝集を行った。次に、得られた未乾燥変性PTFEファインパウダーの含水率を測定し、その値を基に、乾燥用トレイに、未乾燥変性PTFEファインパウダーと、変性PTFEに対して5質量%となる炭酸アンモニウム水溶液(炭酸アンモニウム濃度:20質量%)とを同時に盛り付け、得られた乾燥用トレイを285℃で乾燥した。
得られた試料を用いて、破断強度および応力緩和時間の測定を行った。破断強度Aは28.2N、破断強度Bは33.8Nであった。応力緩和時間は、176秒であった。

n-ブチルメタクリレートをビニルスルホン酸に変更した以外は、実施例5と同様の手順に従って、変性PTFE粉末を得た。

表1中、「BMA」はn-ブチルメタクリレートを、「VAc」は酢酸ビニルを、「AA」はアクリル酸を、「VSa」はビニルスルホン酸を、表す。
「含有量(質量ppm)」は、得られる変性PTFEの全単位に対するA単位の含有量を表す。
「固形分(質量%)」は、水性分散液の固形分濃度(変性PTFEの濃度)を表す。
「含有量(質量ppm)」は、得られる変性PTFEの全単位に対するA単位の含有量を表す。
「固形分(質量%)」は、水性分散液の固形分濃度(変性PTFEの濃度)を表す。
表1に示すように、本発明の変性PTFEは、破断強度に優れていた。

Claims (8)
- テトラフルオロエチレンに基づく単位を有する重合体と、式(1)で表される単量体に基づく単位を有する重合体とを含む変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンであって、
前記式(1)で表される単量体に基づく単位の含有量が、前記変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンの全単位に対して、10~500質量ppmであり、
標準比重が2.155~2.175である、変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレン。
式(1) CH2=CR1-L-R2
R1は、水素原子またはアルキル基を表す。Lは、単結合、-CO-O-*、-O-CO-*または-O-を表す。*はR2との結合位置を表す。R2は、水素原子、アルキル基またはニトリル基を表す。 - 前記式(1)で表される単量体に基づく単位の含有量が、前記変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンの全単位に対して、30~100質量ppmである、請求項1に記載の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレン。
- 前記式(1)で表される単量体が、式(1-1)で表される単量体、式(1-2)で表される単量体、式(1-3)で表される単量体、および、式(1-4)で表される単量体からなる群から選択される単量体である、請求項1または2に記載の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレン。
式(1-1) CH2=CR1-CO-O-R3
式(1-2) CH2=CR1-O-CO-R4
式(1-3) CH2=CR1-O-R5
式(1-4) CH2=CR1-R6
R1は、水素原子またはアルキル基を表す。R3は、水素原子またはアルキル基を表す。R4は、アルキル基を表す。R5は、アルキル基を表す。R6は、ニトリル基を表す。 - 前記式(1)で表される化合物が前記式(1-1)で表される単量体である、請求項1~3のいずれか1項に記載の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレン。
- 前記変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンが粒子状であり、その平均一次粒子径が0.20~0.30μmである、請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレン。
- ペースト押出成形用である、請求項1~5のいずれか1項に記載の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレン。
- 請求項1~6のいずれか1項に記載の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンがペースト押出成形されてなる成形物。
- 請求項1~6のいずれか1項に記載の変性ポリテトラフルオロエチレンをペースト押出して押出ビードを得て、前記押出ビードを延伸して延伸多孔体を得る、延伸多孔体の製造方法。
