Description

ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR RECEIVING DATA IN REAL TIME FROM ANOTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICE
DESCRIPTION
TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an electronic device for receiving data in real time from at least one further electronic device.
PRIOR ART
There are known applications run on smartphones equipped with cameras for making video calls between two smartphones of a network of users who have installed the application, e.g. WhatsApp, on their respective smartphones: in this manner, the user of a local smartphone can see an image of the user of a remote smartphone (and vice versa) and, moreover, he or she can also see images of the environment surrounding the remote user.
The Applicant has observed that one disadvantage of this prior art technique is that of enabling the local user to have a limited perception of the environment in which the remote user is located, since the local user can only view the part of the environment surrounding the remote user.
It is further known that it is possible to connect to a webcam by means of a browser of a personal computer in order to view the scene captured by the webcam, such as, for example, a landscape to check the current weather conditions or a stretch of motorway to monitor traffic.
The Applicant has observed that a disadvantage of a webcam is that it is always on and thus continuously transmits images via a telecommunications network, thus wasting resources in terms of occupied bandwidth and electricity consumption.
US 2015/0101064 discloses a system 10 (see Figure 1 ) comprising a content provision terminal 100, a server 200 and a content reference terminal 300.
The content provision terminal 100 is for example (par. 46) a digital camera, a smartphone or a head mounted display (HMD).
The content reference terminal 300 is for example (par. 48) a television, a digital camera, a portable media player or a head mounted display.
The content provision terminal 100 comprises a unit 125 for acquisition of the position information of the same terminal 100 (see Figure 3) and a condition information generation unit 126 (see Figure 4).
US 2015/0101064 discloses that the content provision terminal 100 (see Figure 13) acquires and displays an image of a scene and shares this image with the content reference terminal 300, which displays an image of the same scene on its own display screen (see Figure 14).
The content reference terminal 300 sharing the scene can be selected according to the following three possible criteria (see Figure 12 and par. 120): friends in a social network, users of the terminal 300 who are placed around the present location of the content provision terminal 100, a photographic advisor with the terminal 300.
US 2015/0101064 further discloses (see Figure 16 and par. 126-128) that the content reference terminal 300 displays a map on the screen 3200, the map comprising a plurality of content provision terminals 100 which have set the second criterion of being in a position around the location of the content reference terminal 300: in thisway the user of the content reference terminal 300 displays and selects from the map (for example, by clicking on the icon 3201 a) one of the content provision terminals 100 and then the user of the content reference terminal 300 displays on the display screen 3200 of the terminal 300 the image acquired from the corresponding selected terminal 100, which is in the proximity of the terminal 300 at the time when the content provision terminal 100 was selected.
The content provision terminals 100 displayed on the display screen of the content reference terminal 300 can be those placed inside or outside a defined area (see par. 72-73) at a determined time instant or can be those placed within a determined distance at a determined time instant.
EP 2094001 discloses a system (see Figs. 3-5) comprising at least one image pickup apparatus 1 or 30 and at least another display apparatus 1 or 40, so that a user of the other display apparatus 1 or 40 can see the scene acquired by the image pickup apparatus 1 or 30.
EP 2094001 further discloses (see par. 220-226) that a map of a region or a certain district (see Figs. 17(a) and 17(b)) including a plurality of image pickup apparatus (indicated by CA in Fig.17(b)) is displayed on the display apparatus, wherein said plurality of image pickup apparatus are displayed on the map according to a positional criterion at a determined time instant (see par. 223, 315 and 317), such as, for example, a position in which the image pickup apparatus is near the image display apparatus at a determined time instant (see par. 226).
EP 3169063 discloses (see Fig.1 ) an information processing system comprising a plurality of cameras 2 (indicated as 2A-1 , 2A-2, 2A-3, 2B-1 , 2B-2, 2B-3) connected via a network 3.
The plurality of cameras 2 are, for example, fixed cameras installed on a road (see Fig.13) and acquire images of vehicles M2, M3 and of persons M1 , M4 moving in the considered road area.
The acquired images are then processed with the aim of detecting a situation posing a hazard to the persons M1 , M4, who are warned of the hazardous situation (for example, the possibility of a collision with a vehicle M2, M3) by means of an alert signal (see par. 98-102).

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
It should be observed that, in the following description, identical or analogous blocks, components or modules are indicated in the figures with the same numerical references, even if they are shown in different embodiments of the invention. With reference to Figure 1 , it shows an electronic system 1 for receiving data in real time according to the invention.
The electronic system 1 comprises:
a local electronic device 2 belonging to a user 10;
a first remote electronic device 4;
a second remote electronic device 5;
a network element 3-1 of a telecommunications network 3.
The electronic system 1 has the function of "virtually teleporting" the user 10 into the place in which the first remote electronic device 4 or the second remote electronic device 5 is positioned.
The term "virtual teleportation" means the possibility for the local electronic device 2 (and thus for the user 10) to receive, alternatively or in combination:
sounds picked up from the environment of the place in which the remote electronic device 4 or the second remote electronic device 5 is positioned;
one or more images representative of the environment of the place in which the remote electronic device 4 or the second remote electronic device 5 is positioned;
a video stream representative of the environment of the place in which the remote electronic device 4 or the second remote electronic device 5 is positioned;
data acquired in the place in which the remote electronic device 4 (or 5) is positioned, such as, for example, geographical location of the remote electronic device, temperature values, humidity levels, wind speeds, elevation above sea level, water temperature.
For the purpose of explaining the invention, the term "local" has been used in reference to the electronic device 2 of the user 10 who receives images and/or video and/or audio streams and/or data of a different type acquired by means of the electronic devices 4, 5, whereas the term "remote" has been used in reference to the electronic devices 4, 5 which acquire and transmit said images and/or video and/or audio streams and/or data of a different type: therefore, in this case the virtual teleportation is carried out in the direction from the electronic devices 4, 5 to the electronic device 2.
It should be observed that it is possible to carry out the virtual teleportation in the opposite direction as well, i.e. from the electronic device 2 to the electronic device 4 and/or 5: in this case the electronic device 2 is of a "remote" type, as it is such as to acquire and transmit images and/or video and/or audio streams and/or data of a different type acquired by means of the electronic device 2, whereas the electronic devices 4, 5 are "local" electronic devices, as they are such as to receive said images and/or video and/or audio streams and/or data of a different type acquired by the electronic device 2.
The local electronic device 2 comprises:
a transceiver of medium-long range signals S1_r, configured to exchange data with the first remote electronic device 4 and with the second remote electronic device 5;

Alternatively, the local electronic device 2 is of a mobile type, such as, for example, a smartphone or a tablet: in this case the medium-long range signal S1_r of the transceiver is of the wireless type, for example mobile radio of the 2G (GSM/GPRS), 3G (UMTS/EDGE), 4G (LTE). 5G type or higher.
Alternatively, the local electronic device 2 can be selected from the following list:
augmented reality glasses;
a smart TV provided with a network interface for accessing the Internet;
a projector for a private home or cinema]
a headset with a transceiver interface of the wireless type (for example, short-range WiFi or Bluetooth).
The processing unit (for example, a microprocessor) of the mobile electronic device 2 is configured to run a software application (indicated below as "client application") having the function of establishing, for a defined interval of time, an association between the local electronic device 2 and one of the remote electronic devices 4, 5 according to suitable criteria, having the function of establishing a data connection between the local electronic device 2 and the associated remote electronic device via the telecommunications network 3 and having the function of receiving data acquired by means of the associated remote electronic device, as will be explained in greater detail below.
Advantageously, the client application of the local electronic device 2 has the further function of enabling the user 10 to configure at least one topic he or she is interested in receiving related content about when it is available and/or at least one event he or she is interested in receiving related content about when it takes place, as will be explained in greater detail below in relation to the description of the first variant of the invention; in this case the local electronic device 2 further comprises a memory for storing the at least one topic and/or event configured by the user 10.
The graphical user interface 2-1 has the function of displaying text and/or graphic messages to the user 10 and has the function of receiving appropriate commands from the user 10, so as to enable interaction of the user 10 with the mobile electronic device 2.
Furthermore, the graphical user interface 2-1 has the function of displaying an image representative of a geographical map of the planet Earth (planisphere or spherical Earth Globe), overlaid on which there is a graphic and/or textual representation of a plurality of remote electronic devices selected according to a position search criteria and/or event and/or topic search criteria, as will be explained in greater detail below.
Said graphic representation of the plurality of remote electronic devices can be for example a respective icon or else it can be a respective image of a preview of images of the environment of the place in which the corresponding remote electronic device is positioned.
For example, the graphical user interface 2-1 is a display screen and hence the mobile electronic device 2 comprises a display screen 2-1 for displaying said text and/or graphic messages to the user 10.
Advantageously, the display screen is of the touchscreen type and is such as to receive commands given by the user 10 by touching a portion of the touchscreen with his or her finger.
The first remote electronic device 4 has the function of providing a point of access to the environment of the place in which the first remote electronic device 4 is positioned.
In particular, the first remote electronic device 4 comprises a camera 4-1 configured to acquire a sequence of a plurality of real-time images representative of the environment of the place in which the first remote electronic device 4 is positioned and comprises a transceiver 4-3 configured to transmit to the electronic device 2 a signal S2 carrying the sequence of the plurality of real-time images acquired by the camera 4-1 .

Preferably, the first remote electronic device 4 further comprises a microphone 4-2 configured to pick up, in real time, sounds and noises generated in the environment of the place in which the first remote electronic device 4 is positioned; in this case the transceiver 4-3 is further configured to transmit to the electronic device 2 the signal S2 carrying audio data representative of the sounds and/or noises generated in the environment of the place in which the first remote electronic device 4 is positioned.
Advantageously, the transceiver 4-3 is configured to transmit to the electronic device 2 the signal S2 carrying a video stream containing the sequence of the plurality of real-time images of the environment of the place in which the first remote electronic device 4 is positioned and containing audio data of sounds and/or noises generated in the environment of the place in which the first remote electronic device 4 is positioned.
Advantageously, the first remote electronic device 4 has the further function of acquiring content related to a topic requested by the user 10 and/or content related to an event the user 10 is interested in and the further function of transmitting to the local electronic device 2 the acquired content related to the topic/event, as will be explained in greater detail below in relation to the description of the first variant of the invention.
The second remote electronic device 5 is constructed in a similar manner to the first remote electronic device 4 and thus the same considerations apply as before, the signal S2 being replaced with the signal S3.
It should be observed that, for the sake of simplicity, Figure 1 shows only two remote electronic devices 4, 5, but more in general the invention is applicable to two or more remote electronic devices.
The network element 3-1 is part of a telecommunications network 3 having the function of connecting to each other the local electronic device 2 and the first remote electronic device 4 and the second remote electronic device 5, so as to establish a data connection between the local electronic device 2 and a remote electronic device.
The network element 3-1 comprises a processing unit, a wireless signal transceiver and, optionally, a further medium/long-range signal transceiver.
The network element 3-1 is for example a computer server.
The telecommunications network 3 comprises for example an access network of a mobile radio type and a fixed network; the mobile radio network can be of the 2G (GSM/GPRS), 3G (UMTS/EDGE), 4G (LTE), 5G type or higher.
The processing unit (for example, a microprocessor) of the network element 3-1 is configured to run a software application (indicated below as "application server") having the function of processing image type data and/or audio and/or video streams transmitted by the first or second remote electronic device 4, 5 to the local electronic device 2.
Advantageously, the processing unit of the network element 3-1 is further configured to verify whether one or more conditions requested by the user 10 of the local electronic device 2 are met, so as to activate the data connection between the local electronic device 2 and one or more remote electronic devices in order to transfer images and/or audio and/or video streams and/or acquired data of a different type, as will be explained in greater detail below.
More in particular, the client application run on the local electronic device 2 establishes, for a defined time interval, an association between the local electronic device 2 and an electronic device selected between the first and second remote electronic devices 4, 5, according to the following possible search criterion.
Said association is performed as a function of the geographical location of the geolocalized remote electronic devices 4, 5 on the Earth, thus a criterion is used for a search by geographical location, which can be carried out by means of suitable commands on the touchscreen 2-1 of the local electronic device 2 and/or by means of suitable voice commands.
In this case the first remote electronic device 4 further comprises a geographic position receiver (for example of the GPS satellite type = Global Positioning System) for receiving the position of the first remote electronic device 4 (i.e. the first remote electronic device 4 is geolocalized); thus the graphical user interface 2-1 (for example, a display screen) of the electronic device 2 is configured to display an image representative of a geographical map of the planet Earth of a physical type (i.e. a map that shows the physical features of the Earth's surface, such as mountains, seas, rivers, lakes, or plains, without indicating the boundaries between countries) or political type (i.e. a map that shows the countries or states on the Earth with respective boundaries), wherein said geographical map of the Earth comprises a graphic and/or textual representation of the first remote electronic device 4.
Preferably, the image representative of a geographical map of the planet Earth is a planisphere of the planet Earth, that is a flat image of the Earth as shown in Figure 2, overlaid on which there is a graphic and/or textual representation of a plurality of remote electronic devices selected according to a position search criteria and/or event and/or topic search criteria; in this case the image representative of the planisphere of the Earth can be of a physical and/or political type.
Alternatively, the image representative of a geographical map of the Earth planet is a Earth Globe, that is a spherical image of the planet Earth as shown in Figures 3A-3B, overlaid on which there is a graphic and/or textual representation of a plurality of remote electronic devices selected according to a position search criteria and/or event and/or topic search criteria; in this case the image representative of the Earth Globe can be of a physical and/or political type.
The use of a geographical map of the Earth (in particular, an image of the planisphere or of the Earth Globe) displayed on the display screen 2-1 of the local electronic device 2 and the geolocalization of the plurality of remote electronic devices 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 displayed on the geographical map of the Earth allows the user 10 to make a more accurate and effective selection of one of the remote electronic devices 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
The first remote electronic device 4 is thus geolocalized, i.e. it is identified (or estimated) its geographical location in the real world on the planet Earth, for example by means of geographic coordinates such as the latitude and longitude on the Earth's surface and optionally the elevation relative to the Earth's surface, wherein said coordinates are calculated by means of geographic location systems such as for example of the satellite type (GPS).
The previous considerations relating to the first remote electronic device 4 are applicable in an analogous manner to the second remote electronic device 5, which likewise comprises a geographic location receiver (for example of the GPS type) for receiving the position of the second remote electronic device 5 (thus the second remote electronic device 5 is also geolocalized); therefore, the graphical user interface 2-1 of the electronic device 2 is such as to display a geographical map of the Earth (for example, a planisphere of the Earth as shown in Figure 2 or a spherical image of the Earth Globe as shown in Figure 3) which comprises a representation of the first and second geolocalized remote electronic devices 4, 5.
With reference to Figure 2, it shows a screenshot 50 displayed on the display screen 2-1 of a mobile local electronic device 2, in particular a smartphone or a tablet.
The screenshot 50 is an image representative of a flat geographical map or planisphere of the Earth, of a political type, on which a plurality of geolocalized remote electronic devices 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 are positioned.
For example, the screenshot 50 shows an icon 4 positioned on the State Italy and thus representative of the position of the remote electronic device 4 in the State Italy; in other words, the remote electronic device 4 is geolocalized and its geographical location is inside the territory of State Italy.
The shape of the icon 4 can be a dot or any other shape that the user 10 can select and also personalise. Analogous considerations can be made for the remote electronic device 5, which is likewise geolocalized, i.e. the screenshot 50 shows that the geographical location of the remote electronic device 5 is inside China.
The remote electronic device 6 is positioned in Australia, 7 in the USA, 8 in Brazil and 9 in Argentina.
With reference to Figures 3A-3B, they show the screenshots 70, 71 displayed, respectively, on the display screen 2-1 of the mobile local electronic device 2, in particular a smartphone or a tablet.
The screenshots 70, 71 are two images representative of respective different portions of a geographical map of the Earth Globe, on which the remote electronic devices 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9 are positioned.
The screenshots 70, 71 are generated by means of a command generated by the user 10 of the local electronic device 2, for example by means of a sideways sliding movement of the finger of the user 10 on the display screen 2-1 of a touchscreen type, so as to bring about a virtual rotation of the Earth Globe and display on the display screen 2-1 different portions of the territories on Earth with overlaid icons representative of the geolocalized remote electronic devices that are capable of providing remote audio and/or video information.
With reference, in greater detail, to Figure 3A, it shows the screenshot 70, which is an image representative of the Earth Globe, on which two geolocalized electronic devices 4, 5 are positioned.
It should be observed that the screenshot 70 displays only a portion of the territories on Earth, in particular the continents Europe, Africa and Asia (i.e. it does not include America and Australia).
The previous considerations relating to the electronic devices 4 and 5 of Figure 2 are applicable in an analogous manner to Figure 3A, the difference being that the display of an image representative of the Earth Globe on the display screen 2-1 of the local electronic device 2 allows the user 10 of the local electronic device 2 to make an even more accurate and even more effective selection of a remote electronic device from many remote electronic devices displayed on the map of the Earth Globe.
With reference, in greater detail, to Figure 3B, it shows the screenshot 71 , which is an image representative of the Earth Globe, on which three geolocalized electronic devices 7, 8 and 9 are positioned.
It should be observed that the screenshot 71 displays only a portion of the territories on Earth, in particular the continent America (i.e. it does not include Europe, Africa and Asia).
The previous considerations related to electronic devices 7, 8 and 9 of Figure 2 are applicable in an analogous manner to Figure 3B, with the difference that the display of an image representative of the Earth Globe on the display screen 2-1 of the local electronic device 2 allows the user 10 of the local electronic device 2 to make an even more accurate and even more effective selection of a remote electronic device from many remote electronic devices displayed on the map of the Earth Globe.
Preferably, the image 50 of the planisphere of the Earth and/or images 70, 71 of the Earth Globe further comprise a semi-transparent overlaid graphic representation of the current weather conditions, such as, for example, the presence of clouds, rain, snow, wind or sunshine.
The operation of the electronic system 1 will be described below, also making reference to Figures 1 , 2 and 3A.
The user 10 uses a position search criterion of the remote electronic devices, for example within a particular geographic area, within a nation (for example Italy), within one or more continents (for example in Europe) or within a hemisphere of the Earth Globe.
The user 10 starts the client application on the local electronic device 2 (for example, a smartphone or augmented reality glasses) and, similarly, the users of a plurality of remote electronic devices start a respective client application for the sharing of information associated with them.
After starting the client application on the local electronic device 2, the user 10 selects a particular position search criterion of the remote electronic devices and then the image of the geographical map of the Earth (for example, an image of the planisphere of the Earth as shown in Figure 2 or a spherical image of the Earth Globe as shown in Figure 3A) is displayed on the graphical user interface 2-1 (e.g. display screen) of the local electronic device 2; the image shows a textual and/or graphic representation of a plurality of remote electronic devices overlaid on the geographical map of the Earth and selected according to the position search criterion chosen by the user, included among which are the first and second remote electronic devices 4, 5 (see Figures 2 and 3A).
Subsequently the user 10 selects one of the remote electronic devices (for example, the user 10 selects the first remote electronic device 4 by touching, with a finger, the image of the geographical map of the Earth and an icon representing the remote electronic device 4 in the geographical location of interest); then a data connection is established, via the telecommunications network 3, between the local electronic device 2 and the first remote electronic device 4 which is in the selected geographical location: in this manner an association has been made between the local electronic device 2 and the first remote electronic device 4, according to the geographical location.
The first remote electronic device 4 second activates the acquisition (by means of the camera 4-1 and/or microphone 4-2) of image type data and/or audio and/or video streams of the environment of the place in which the first remote electronic device 4 is positioned; then the first remote electronic device 4 transmits to the local electronic device 2 the acquired data of the images and/or the audio and/or video streams of the environment of the place in which the first remote electronic device 4 is positioned. The activation of said data acquisition at the first remote electronic device 4 can take place manually or automatically.
The local electronic device 2 subsequently receives the acquired data of the images and/or audio and/or video streams of the environment of the place in which the first remote electronic device 4 is positioned and, finally, the display screen 2-1 of the local electronic device 2 displays to the user 10 images/video of the environment of the place in which the first remote electronic device 4 is positioned, while the speaker (if present) generates sounds of the environment of the place in which the first remote electronic device 4 is positioned: in this manner, the user 10 has been virtually teleported to the place in which the first remote electronic device 4 is positioned.
It should be observed that the data connection between the local electronic device 2 and the remote electronic device 4 is activated only after the user 10 has selected the first remote electronic device 4 from the map of the Earth displayed on the display screen 2-1 of the local electronic device 2.
Preferably, the processing unit of the network element 3-1 is further configured to modify the image type data and/or video streams transmitted by the associated remote electronic devices so as to create an artificial virtual environment (virtual reality) of the place in which the associated remote electronic device is positioned.
Alternatively, the processing unit of the network element 3-1 is further configured to overlay virtual objects on the images and/or video transmitted by the associated remote electronic devices, so as to create an augmented reality of the place in which the associated remote electronic device is positioned.
Alternatively, the processing unit of the network element 3-1 is further configured to generate and combine the images and/or video transmitted by the associated remote electronic devices with virtual objects, so as to create a mixed reality of the place in which the associated remote electronic device is positioned.
It should further be observed that, for the purpose of explaining the invention, the case of virtual teleportation between the local electronic device 2 and the remote electronic device 4, associated according to a position and/or topic/event search criterion, has been illustrated, but it is possible to have simultaneously activated the virtual teleportation between the same local electronic device 2 and the remote electronic device 5 associated according to a position and/or topic/event search criterion: in this case the local electronic device 2 receives both the acquired data of the images and/or audio and/or video streams of the environment of the place in which the remote electronic device 4 is positioned, and the acquired data of the images and/or audio and/or video streams of the environment of the place in which the associated remote electronic device 5 is positioned.
More in general, it is possible to activate (following the search by geographical location and/or topic/event) the virtual teleportation between the local electronic device 2 and a plurality of remote electronic devices: in this case the local electronic device 2 receives a plurality of acquired data of the images and/or audio and/or video streams of the environment of the places in which the plurality of associated remote electronic devices are positioned.
Furthermore, for the sake of simplicity the case of virtual teleportation between the remote electronic device 4 and the local electronic device 2 has been illustrated, but it is possible have a plurality of electronic devices 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, ....2n analogous to the local electronic device 2, which are all associated (according to the position and/or topic/event search criterion) with the same remote electronic device 4: in this case, each of the plurality of electronic devices 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, ....2n receives the acquired data of the images and/or audio and/or video streams of the environment of the place in which the remote electronic device 4 is positioned, i.e. there is a point- to-multipoint transmission from the remote electronic device 4 to the electronic devices 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, ....2n.
It should further be observed that the acquisition of the data of the remote device 4 and the subsequent transmission of the data to the local device 2 can be set automatically or manually.
Advantageously, according to a first variant of the invention the association between the local electronic device 2 and the selected remote electronic device 4 (or 5) is made taking further into account at least one topic and/or at least one event, in addition to the search by geographical location previously illustrated, wherein the content of said topic is provided by means of the remote electronic device 4 (or 5) and wherein said event is associated with the remote electronic device 4 (or 5).
The topic and/or event search criterion can be set by suitable commands on the touchscreen 2-1 of the local electronic device 2 and/or by means of appropriate voice commands.
For example, the search by geographical location provides a sub-set of the plurality of remote electronic devices and a further search is conducted among them according to the topic or event; then a remote electronic device capable of providing the topic searched for by the user 10 and/or the remote electronic device associated with the event searched for by the user 10 is selected (from the subset of the remote electronic devices).
In other words, according to the first variant, the display screen 2-1 of the local electronic device 2 displays an image representative of a geographical map of the Earth (of the planisphere or Earth Globe type), on which only the remote geolocalized electronic devices that satisfy both the geographical location search criterion, and the given topic or event search criterion requested by the user 10, such as, for example, all and solely the remote electronic devices that are on the crater of a volcano in a given geographical area (which can be the whole world or only a part of it) are displayed in overlay (for example by means of respective icons): in this manner the user 10 can filter, on the geographical map of the Earth, for only the remote electronic devices that satisfy a particular search criterion relating to geographical location and also to the availability of a particular event and/or topic, i.e. the remote electronic devices that satisfy the geographical location search criterion but do not satisfy the criterion relating to the availability of a particular event and/or topic are no longer displayed. According to the first variant of the invention, the remote electronic device 4 (or 5) comprises a memory configured to store a table indicated below as "Device name", which comprises two columns, wherein:
the first column identifies the possible type of topics and/or events;
the second column comprises a free text that describes one or more respective events associated with the remote electronic device 4 (or 5) and/or describes one or more respective topics made available by means of the remote electronic device 4 (or 5).
A possible "Device name" table is the following Table 1 :

Table 2
For example, Table 2 shows (see the row "Travel") that the remote electronic device 4 is acquiring real-time images of a beach in Cuba, by means of one or more cameras of the remote electronic device 4, which is on the beach in Cuba.
Another example in Table 2 is the one (see the row "Performing arts") in which the remote electronic device 4 is acquiring real-time images of a concert by the Italian singer Vasco Rossi.
With reference once again to Figure 2, it shows a plurality of text boxes, each associated with a respective remote electronic device represented on the political geographical map of the planisphere of the Earth, in which each text box is displayed after the icon of the corresponding remote electronic device has been touched with a finger.
Each text box includes a "Device name" table as illustrated above with regard to Tables 1 and 2, that is, a string identifying the device considered, a particular type of topic or event and optionally a corresponding free text description of the type of topic or event.
In particular, the screenshot 50 displayed on the display screen 2-1 of the local mobile electronic device 2 includes a text box 60 (shown small and also enlarged) associated with the remote electronic device 5, wherein said text box 60 is displayed after the user 10 of the local mobile electronic device 2 has touched, with a finger, the icon 5 on the display screen 2-1 , which is representative of the remote electronic device 5.
The text box 60 comprises a row in which the topic is "Industry" and the free text description is "Inauguration of new XYZ company factory".
Therefore, the user 10 of the local mobile electronic device 2 is notified of the fact that the remote mobile electronic device 5 is capable of providing images of the topic "Industry", in particular ones relating to the inauguration of a new factory of a company XYZ located in the state territory of China.
It should be observed that, for the sake of simplicity, the text box 60 comprises only one row for an event or topic, but more in general it is possible to have two or more rows of particular events/topics and optionally a corresponding free text description.
Advantageously, according to the first variant an association of an "on-demand" type is made between the local electronic device 2 and the remote electronic device 4 (and/or 5) according to one or more configured topics or events, so that when the event configured by the user 10 takes place and/or the topic configured by the user 10 is available, the remote electronic device 4 (and/or 5) transmits to the local electronic device 2 a notification message indicating that the configured event has taken place and/or that the configured topic is available: in this manner the user 10 is aware of the fact that the remote electronic device 4 (and/or 5) is capable of transmitting to the local electronic device 2 data related to the topic/event configured by the user 10.
In this case the local electronic device 2 comprises a memory for storing the configured values of at least one topic/event in the "Device name" Table and optionally the corresponding configured descriptions in the free text.
In fact, according to the first variant, the user 10 configures, by means of the client application run on the processing unit of the local electronic device 2, one or more events that can be associated with the remote electronic device 4 (and/or 5) and/or selects one or more topics that can be made available by means of the remote electronic device 4 (and/or 5).
The following three examples of topics/events can be configured by the user 10:
a particular geographical location wherein the remote electronic device 4 (and/or 5) have to be present;
occurrence of a particular event associated with the remote electronic device 4 (and/or 5); availability of a particular topic via the remote electronic device 4 (and/or 5).
It should be observed that combinations of two or more of the above-specified conditions are possible, for example:
occurrence of a particular event and availability of a particular topic;
a particular geographical location in which a particular event takes place;
a particular geographical location in which a particular topic is available.
For example, said configuration is implemented by means of the graphical user interface 2-1 (e.g. display screen) of the local electronic device 2, which shows the list of topics/events indicated in the first column of the "Device name" Table; the user 10 of the local electronic device 2 then selects one of the topics/events and optionally the user 10 enters (by means of appropriate gesture or voice commands) one or more descriptions of the particular selected topic/event in the second column: the user 10 is thus waiting for the remote electronic device 4 (or 5) to transmit to the local electronic device 2 data related to the topic/event configured by the user 10, wherein said data can be images and/or audio and/or video streams and/or other data acquired by the remote electronic device 4 (or 5).
For example, the first column is implemented with a drop-down menu, so the user 10 touches, with a finger, an area of a touchscreen 2-1 of the local electronic device 2 and selects a topic/event from the drop-down menu; the display screen 2-1 subsequently displays an empty field in which the user 10 can enter one or more descriptions of the particular topic or event_desired.
When the event configured by the user 10 takes place and/or the topic configured by the user 10 is available, the remote electronic device 4 (or 5) transmits to the local electronic device 2 a notification message that indicates that the configured event has taken place and/or that the configured topic is available: in this manner the user 10 is aware of the fact that the remote electronic device 4 (or 5) is capable of transmitting to the local electronic device 2 data related to the topic/event configured by the user 10.
The local electronic device 2 receives said notification message and, in response to it and as a function of the previously configured topic/event, a data connection is activated between the local electronic device 2 and the remote electronic device 4 (or 5): in this manner an association is made between the local electronic device 2 and the remote electronic device 4 (or 5), according to the geographical location and also according to the configured topic/event.
Finally, the user 10 activates the reception of data at the local electronic device 2 and the associated remote electronic device 4 (or 5) thus transmits the data related to the particular event or topic configured by the user 10 to the local electronic device 2, wherein said data can be images and/or audio and/or video streams and/or other data acquired by the remote electronic device 4 (or 5).
It should be observed that the data connection between the local electronic device 2 and the remote electronic device 4 is activated after the configured event has taken place and/or the configured topic is available and after the local electronic device 2 has received the notification message transmitted by the remote electronic device 4 (or 5); in other words, the association between the local electronic device 2 and the remote electronic device 4 is of the "on-demand" type.
In the three examples indicated above the notification message is transmitted (and thus the data connection is activated) when:
a remote electronic device (for example, 4) is actually present in the geographical location previously requested by the user 10: the user 10 receives (by means of the local electronic device 2) images and/or audio acquired by the remote electronic device 4 in the requested geographical location;
a particular event previously configured on the local electronic device 2 actually takes place: the user 10 receives, by transmission of the data acquired by the remote electronic device 4 and transmitted to the local electronic device 2, information associated with the requested event;
the content of a particular topic previously configured on the local electronic device 2 is presently available: the user 10 receives, by transmission of the data acquired by the remote electronic device 4 and transmitted to the local electronic device 2, the content associated with the requested topic.
An example of the operation of the electronic system 1 according to the first variant of the invention is the following.
The user 10 configures "Travel" as the topic on the local electronic device 2 (in particular, a smartphone) and moreover enters the string "volcano" as the free text: this means that the user 10 is interested in receiving content associated with a volcano, such as, for example, images acquired in real time above a volcano.
The user 10 is thus waiting to receive data associated with the topic volcano.
A user 1 1 of the remote electronic device 4 (in particular, a smartphone) subsequently takes a walk along the crater of a volcano; in this case the user 1 1 enables the availability of content associated with a volcano on the remote smartphone 4 and then the remote smartphone 4 transmits to the local smartphone 2 the notification message indicating that the topic volcano previously configured by the user 10 is available.
The user 10 receives the notification message and starts the client application on the local smartphone 2; a map containing an icon which identifies the remote smartphone 4 is then displayed on the display screen 2-1 of the local smartphone 2; the user 10 selects the remote smartphone 4 (for example, by touching the icon that identifies the remote smartphone 4 on the display screen 2- 1 ) and the topic "Travel" and the corresponding description "volcano" is displayed on the display screen 2-1 , since the user 1 1 of the smartphone 4 is taking a walk along the crater of a volcano.
The user 10 activates (by means of the client application of the local smartphone 2) the reception of data from the remote smartphone 4; the remote smartphone 4 thus acquires (by means of its camera) images of the crater of the volcano during the walk taken by the user 1 1 along the crater of the volcano, the acquired images of the crater of the volcano are then transmitted from the remote smartphone 4 to the local smartphone 2, the local smartphone 2 then receives the images representative of the crater of the volcano and, finally, the acquired images of the crater of the volcano are displayed on the display screen 2-1 of the local smartphone 2; preferably, the speaker of the local smartphone 2 reproduces the sounds acquired by the microphone of the remote smartphone 4 during the walk taken by the user 1 1 along the crater of the volcano.
A further criterion for associating the local electronic device 2 with one or more remote electronic devices is that of a random cyclical connection, on the basis of places and/or topics and/or events.
In this case the connection between the local electronic device 2 and one or more remote electronic devices 4, 5 is automatically and randomly activated.
After the end or voluntary interruption of the display of one item, the cyclicity enables a subsequent item to be displayed immediately.
Preferably, according to a second variant of the invention, the association between the local electronic device 2 and the selected remote electronic device 4 (or 5) is made by taking further into account a defined point in time (for example, every day at a certain hour, for example 9:00 a.m.), in addition to the search by geographical location and the occurrence of a particular event at a defined point in time and/or the availability of a particular topic at a defined point in time.
In other words, the user 10 can configure (by means of the client application on the local electronic device 2) the following conditions:
occurrence of a particular event at a defined point in time; availability of a particular topic at a defined point in time;
occurrence of a particular event and availability of a particular topic at a defined point in time.
