Abstract

A gel, mainly consisting of Agarose, is doted with substances, which allow the indication of different physiological parameters on the skin of humans, animals and plants immediately and allow for dynamic analysis.

Description

SYSTEM OF INSTANTLY AND CONTINUOUSLY INDICATING PHYSIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS ON THE SURFACE OF PLANTS, ANIMALS AND HUMANS
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to the indication of physical parameters on the skin by an application of specific gels.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The indicator of health related physiological data is usually determined by measuring body temperature, blood pressure and similar parameters with specific measuring devices.
These measure body fluids or excretions in laboratory analyzes, or body functions on the skin or in body openings with pressure, humidity and temperature sensors.
For giving patients more freedom and releasing them from being wired up, methods are increasingly being used in which sensors on the skin in collars or headbands are connected to radio systems and thus give the patient some freedom of movement, but their application and use is still perceived as a burden and reduces the patient's compliance.
TASK OF THE INVENTION
It is therefore the object of the invention disclosed herein to find a method which would be applied quickly, not be stressful to the patient and cost-effective, but displays selected parameters quickly and safely.
Furthermore, the observation of variable metabolic activities is to be displayed in real time.
SOLUTION
The solution to this task is in a chemico-physical indicator material for application to the skin, which indicates and instantly allows conclusions on metabolic functions by the change in light permeability (including transparency).
This material was synthesized from an agarose gel using appropriate additives.
PRIOR ART
Indicators directly applied to the skin are known, e.g. by DE 199 50 516 A1 , also registered as WO 00 2001 029524 A1. Therein a gel is suggested, which indicates the skin temperature by coloring.
Disregard the disadvantage that the colors are only well identifiable in transparent material against a white background, and not over the basic colors of human skin, there is a problem with the patient's compliance, who is forced to walk with intensive color spots on the skin.
However, DE 601 04 364 T2 describes an organic / inorganic hybrid hydrogel which is based on the temperature-graded change in the transparency of the hydrogel.
The hydrogels described there, however, have low reaction rates so that no dynamic changes in the parameters are to be followed.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
An interactive indicator material which is applied to the skin of an organism (human, animal, plant) in various forms and changes its light transmittance (transparency and related physical quantities absorption, extinction, reflection, optical density, etc.) as a function of the underlying body reaction.
Thus the change in the transparency of the material leads to conclusions on various reactions of the organism and shows local differences in temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, ion concentration, water content, etc.
This is indicated in reversible or irreversible manner directly on the surface of the organism in real time without any further aids.
An appropriate indicator material is a substance or a chemical compound which is applied to the skin (surface) of an organism as a cream, spray, plaster or bandage or other form, and represents the metabolic reactions of the organism - which are caused by the changes of suitable physical quantities (e.g. transparency, transmission, absorption, etc.) of the indicator gel.
The novelty is that the indicator material reversibly transmits a dynamic process of metabolic activities in real time, allowing interpretation of the metabolic activities.
This allows e.g. conclusions about diseases and disturbed physiological processes of the organism, leading to a first diagnosis.
By means of a suitable combination of different indicator materials, it is also possible to indicate different changes, e.g. in the pH and the temperature at the same time.
A solid indicator material could contain several different layers of different indicator materials (pavement bandage, tape), while the indicator material is e.g. in a cream or a spray in the form of different indicator materials and / or different concentrations in a carrier matrix. DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
FIG. 1 shows an upper arm (1 ), dressed with a surgical plaster (2) with the indicator material of the invented kind (it could as well be applied as a cream or in a bandage).
Two patterns are displayed according to the radiated heat of the skin:
While the longitudinal stripes (3) indicate a normal distribution of transparency, the cross- strips (4) indicate changes and deviations from the normal physiological distribution - for example, increased heat radiation (5) or extreme fluctuations in the pH-value (6), that can be identified by appropriate selection of the indicator material.
Since the transparency of the indicator material is reversible, monitoring of e.g. inflammation processes under the skin is as well possible as is a quick first diagnosis.
