- RRC Connection Request a connection request
- Establishment Cause a connection establishment reason
- the base station apparatus executes connection establishment processing based on the establishment reason.
- the base station apparatus can perform connection processing by treating the establishment reason as another establishment reason. For example, the base station apparatus handles an unsupported establishment reason as data transmission (mo-Data) from the terminal apparatus. This allows the base station apparatus to establish a connection even for an establishment reason not supported.
- Mo-Data data transmission
- the incoming voice call at the terminal device is not currently defined as the establishment reason, but it is assumed that this is defined as the establishment reason, while the base station apparatus does not support this establishment reason. Do.
- the MME notifies (through the base station apparatus) the terminal apparatus that there is an incoming voice call by a paging message (PCH, Paging Channel).

- the MME does not determine that the connection notified by the base station apparatus and established with the establishment reason “mo-Data” is a connection by a paging message. That is, the MME is waiting for establishment of a connection for incoming call in the terminal device, and even if the connection for call origination by the terminal device is established, the connection is caused by the paging message transmitted earlier. Can not be judged. Therefore, for example, a time-out may occur in the MME, or an error may occur by receiving a service request message of an incoming call from a terminal device for which a connection for an incoming call should not be established in the MME.
- the configuration of the establishment reason is changed so that such an error does not occur.
- the values indicating the current state and the reason for establishment include values for which the corresponding reason for establishment is not defined for future function expansion and the like. Therefore, these establishment reasons are also classified into the first group and the second group, respectively. That is, a group including the already defined establishment reason and the undefined establishment reason is configured for each of the outgoing and incoming of the terminal device.
- the base station apparatus when the base station apparatus does not support the establishment reason set in the connection request, the base station apparatus itself in the group including the establishment reason is supported by the predetermined reason supported by the terminal apparatus. Treat as the establishment reason and establish the connection. According to this, when the terminal apparatus sets a new establishment reason and transmits a connection request, the base station apparatus can respond to the establishment reason corresponding to the transmission by the terminal apparatus even if the base station apparatus does not support the establishment reason. For the establishment reason corresponding to the incoming call to the terminal apparatus, the connection process can be performed for the establishment reason corresponding to the other incoming call.
- the MME recognizes that at least the connection for the call reception has been established in the terminal device in order to receive the Initial UE message in which the establishment reason for the call reception in the terminal device is set. Can.
- the MME strictly recognizes that the connection having a reason different from the establishment reason transmitted in the paging message has been established.
- the MME recognizes that the established connection is due to a paging message. it can. As a result, it is possible to prevent the occurrence of an error as described above.

- the establishment reason currently has only a value of 0 to 7, it may be expanded in the future and may have more values. That is, there may be many values for which the establishment reason is undefined. Therefore, the establishment reasons are classified into a plurality of groups so as to correspond to a large number of establishment reasons to be defined in the future, and the base station apparatus not supporting the establishment reasons is also suitable for the group It is beneficial to keep the connection established.

- the terminal can use the mo-spare's detailed establishment reason (for example, a terminal originating voice call) when it is newly defined in the future.
- the base station apparatus When the base station apparatus receives a connection request for an establishment reason not supported by the own apparatus newly defined for mo-spare, the establishment reason is assumed to be mo-Data belonging to the same group It can be handled and proceeded. In this case, the base station apparatus transmits, to the MME, an Initial UE message including mo-Data as the establishment reason. Further, in FIG. 3A, mt-Access exists as the existing establishment reason for receiving a call at the terminal device. On the other hand, mt-spare is defined as an item related to an incoming call at a terminal whose establishment reason is not defined, and a group including mt-Access and mt-spare is formed.

In a wireless communication system, a base station apparatus performs processing for establishing a connection with a terminal apparatus in a radio resource control (RRC) layer. For example, the terminal device transmits a connection request (RRC Connection Request), and the base station device establishes an RRC connection with the terminal device accordingly. Note that a connection establishment reason (Establishment Cause) is set in the connection request, and the base station apparatus executes connection establishment processing based on the establishment reason.
When the base station apparatus does not support the establishment reason established in the connection request, the base station apparatus can perform connection processing by treating the establishment reason as another establishment reason. For example, the base station apparatus handles an unsupported establishment reason as data transmission (mo-Data) from the terminal apparatus. This allows the base station apparatus to establish a connection even for an establishment reason not supported. However, in this case, disadvantages may arise if, for example, a new establishment reason for an incoming call to a terminal is used.
For example, the incoming voice call at the terminal device is not currently defined as the establishment reason, but it is assumed that this is defined as the establishment reason, while the base station apparatus does not support this establishment reason. Do. In this case, as shown in FIG. 2, first, the MME notifies (through the base station apparatus) the terminal apparatus that there is an incoming voice call by a paging message (PCH, Paging Channel). After that, the MME waits for the connection for the incoming call at the terminal device to be established between the terminal device and the base station device. When receiving the PCH message, the terminal device transmits, to the base station device, a connection request (RRC Connection Request) in which a voice incoming call (mt-VoiceCall) in the own device is set as the establishment reason. Since the base station apparatus does not support this establishment reason, it is treated as data transmission (mo-Data) by the terminal and proceeds with the process, and finally, by the Initial UE message, the establishment reason is "mo-Data" and RRC Notify that a connection has been established. On the other hand, the MME does not determine that the connection notified by the base station apparatus and established with the establishment reason “mo-Data” is a connection by a paging message.
In the present embodiment, the configuration of the establishment reason is changed so that such an error does not occur. That is, the values indicating the current state and the reason for establishment include values for which the corresponding reason for establishment is not defined for future function expansion and the like. This value is assigned in advance to the first group regarding the transmission of the terminal device and the second group regarding the incoming call in the terminal device. That is, under the present circumstances, the value indicating the establishment reason takes eight values from 0 to 7, and while the establishment reason is not defined in 6 and 7, the value "6" is assigned to the first group concerning transmission, Assign the value "7" to the second group for incoming calls. In addition, part of the values are already defined in establishment reasons (mo-Signalling, mo-Data) for origination of the terminal device and establishment reason (mt-Access) for arrival at the terminal device. Therefore, these establishment reasons are also classified into the first group and the second group, respectively. That is, a group including the already defined establishment reason and the undefined establishment reason is configured for each of the outgoing and incoming of the terminal device.
Then, when the base station apparatus does not support the establishment reason set in the connection request, the base station apparatus itself in the group including the establishment reason is supported by the predetermined reason supported by the terminal apparatus. As a result, in response to the paging message, the MME recognizes that at least the connection for the call reception has been established in the terminal device in order to receive the Initial UE message in which the establishment reason for the call reception in the terminal device is set. Can. At this time, the MME strictly recognizes that the connection having a reason different from the establishment reason transmitted in the paging message has been established. However, for example, by negotiating processing when the establishment reason is changed between the base station apparatus and the MME, the MME recognizes that the established connection is due to a paging message. it can. As a result, it is possible to prevent the occurrence of an error as described above.
In addition, when a new establishment reason is defined, according to these groups, for example, regarding the establishment reason for an incoming call at the terminal device, a value whose corresponding establishment reason for the second group is undefined is the new To be associated with the reason for establishing Here, it should be noted that although the establishment reason currently has only a value of 0 to 7, it may be expanded in the future and may have more values.
An example configuration of the establishment reason in the case of defining the group for outgoing call and the group for incoming call is shown in FIG. FIGS. 3A and 3B respectively show an example where the establishment reason is represented by 3 bits as in the present case and a case where the establishment reason is expanded to 4 bits. In addition, the element which is not underlined is an item currently defined as the establishment reason, and the item which is underlined shows the item for adapting to grouping by this embodiment.
In FIG. 3A, for example, mo-Data exists as an existing establishment reason when transmitting from a terminal device. On the other hand, mo-spare is defined as an item related to transmission from a terminal apparatus whose establishment reason is undefined. Although mo-spare is defined to be an establishment reason for transmission from a terminal device, the detailed establishment reason is an item for which the definition is not defined. In this embodiment, a group including mo-Data and mo-spare, which are establishment reasons for transmission from these terminal devices, is formed. The terminal can use the mo-spare's detailed establishment reason (for example, a terminal originating voice call) when it is newly defined in the future. When the base station apparatus receives a connection request for an establishment reason not supported by the own apparatus newly defined for mo-spare, the establishment reason is assumed to be mo-Data belonging to the same group It can be handled and proceeded. Thus, when the base station apparatus receives a connection request for an establishment reason not supported by the own apparatus newly defined for mt-spare, the establishment reason is mt-Access belonging to the same group It can be treated as a thing and processing can proceed. In this case, the base station apparatus transmits, to the MME, an Initial UE message including mt-Access as the establishment reason.
FIG. 3B is an example in which the establishment reason is expressed by 4 bits. In this case, ten reasons can be expressed in addition to the existing six reasons. In the example of FIG. 3B, the values corresponding to these ten reasons are five reasons each of which are undefined reasons (mo-spare) for origination by the terminal device and reasons for undefined termination at the terminal device ( mt-spare) and assigned. Note that the number of values to be assigned to the undefined reasons of each group may not be equal, and may be appropriately set according to the future availability. Also, values may be assigned to undefined reasons other than for outgoing and incoming calls. Furthermore, although FIGS. 3A and 3B show an example where the existing establishment reasons remain, it should be noted that these reasons may be deleted. That is, even in the case of FIG. 3A, three or more reasons which are undefined may be included. However, in this case as well, grouping is performed such that at least a part of the values indicating the undefined reasons belong to the same group as the values corresponding to the defined reasons.
Note that multiple groups do not have to be classified into outgoing and incoming groups, and classification may be performed on other measures. For example, as shown in FIG. 3C, the plurality of groups may include one or more groups classified according to connection priority. That is, for example, a plurality of first groups with high connection priority, a second group with low connection priorities, and a third group regarding the priorities not belonging to the first group and the second group are plural. It may be included in the group of In the example of FIG. 3C, “High-Priority-spare”, “Low-Priority-spare”, and “Mid−,” for the undefined reasons for the first group, the second group, and the third group, respectively. “Priority-spare” is shown. Note that the priorities may be determined, for example, in two or four or more steps, and the number of undefined reasons for each of the plurality of priorities may be different from one another.
Also, as shown in FIG. 3D, the plurality of groups may include, for example, one or more groups classified according to the application of communication. For example, for each application such as high-speed, large-capacity communication (for example, eMBB, enhanced mobile broad band), connection with multiple terminals (mMTC, massive machine type communication), ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC, ultra-reliable and low latency communication) , Groups may be formed. In the example of FIG. 3D, “eMBB-spare”, “mMTC-spare” and “mTC-spare” are undefined reasons for the group of high-speed large-capacity communication, the group of connections by multiple terminals, and the group of ultra-reliable low-delay communication, respectively. And “URLLC-spare”. As applications, other applications may be used, and the number of undefined reasons for each of a plurality of applications may be different from each other.
Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 3E, the plurality of groups may include one or more groups classified according to the type of terminal to which a connection is to be established. For example, a group such as a group related to smartphones, a group related to wireless LAN routers, and a group related to subscriber premises equipment may be formed. In the example of FIG. 3E, “SP-spare”, “wRouter-spare”, and “CPE-spare” are the reasons for undefined regarding the group of smartphones, the group of wireless LAN routers, and the group of subscriber premises equipment, respectively. It shows by. In addition, the form of a terminal device may be classified into forms other than these, and the number of undefined reasons for each of a plurality of forms may be different from each other.
In addition, the above-mentioned various groups may coexist. For example, connection reasons where incoming and outgoing should be clearly distinguished are classified into groups regarding either outgoing or incoming, and connection reasons where incoming and outgoing do not need to be distinguished are classified into groups regarding priority etc. May be In addition, for example, only a group with high priority may be formed as the group regarding priority, and other connection reasons with low priority may be classified into groups not based on priority. Similarly, the group relating to the application of the communication and the form of the terminal device does not necessarily have to form a plurality of groups relating to the viewpoint if the viewpoint is used, but it is sufficient if one or more groups are formed.
Even if any group configuration is used, the value indicating the establishment reason is classified such that the value for which the establishment reason is not defined belongs to at least some of the groups. Then, when the base station apparatus receives a connection request in which a value for which the establishment reason is not defined is set, the base station apparatus receives it as a connection request for a predetermined reason supported by the base station apparatus itself in the group to which the value belongs. Handle the connection request and execute connection establishment processing. Thus, even if the base station does not support the establishment reason set by the terminal device, the connection is established for a predetermined reason corresponding to the establishment reason.
Although the reason for establishment has been described above, for example, the same method can be used for Slice Service Type (SST). That is, the network transmits, for example, a paging message in which SST is set to the terminal apparatus via the base station apparatus. Thereafter, RRC connection processing is performed between the terminal device and the base station device, and in the processing, the terminal device transmits, for example, the value of SST set in the paging message in an RRC Connection Setup Complete message . At this time, if the base station apparatus supports the SST in the message, it transmits an Initial UE message in which the SST is configured, but if the SST is not supported, the other supported apparatuses are supported. It is possible to transmit an Initial UE message in which SST is configured. However, if the SST set in the Initial UE message at this time is unrelated to the SST set in the paging message, an error may occur because a conflict with the SST managed by the network occurs.
Therefore, as in the case of the above-mentioned establishment reason, the values indicating the SST are classified into a plurality of groups relating to the same or related SSTs. When the base station apparatus receives a message in which the value of SST not supported is set, the message assumes that another SST supported by the apparatus is set in the group to which the value of SST belongs. Handle and continue the connection process. SST may, for example, relate to the above-mentioned communication application. In this case, as shown in FIG. 3F, for example, SSTs can be classified into high-speed large-capacity communication, connection by multiple terminals, ultra-reliable low-delay communication, etc., and can be grouped by classification. Also, SSTs may be classified, for example, by services such as voice calls, streaming of video and music, and grouped by classification. Note that various measures other than these measures can form a plurality of groups, each corresponding to at least one SST.
According to this, when the terminal apparatus sets up a new SST and transmits a message, the base station apparatus handles it as another SST corresponding to that SST, even if it does not support that SST, Connection processing can be performed. As a result, the network receives the Initial UE message in which the SST corresponding to the SST set in the paging message is set. At this time, the network strictly recognizes that a connection for an SST different from the SST transmitted in the paging message has been established. However, the network can recognize that the established connection is due to a paging message, for example, by negotiating processing when the SST is changed between the base station apparatus and the network. .
The establishment reason and the SST may be associated with each other. In this case, when a terminal apparatus requests connection in a certain SST, the terminal apparatus transmits, to the base station apparatus, a connection request in which an establishment reason corresponding to the SST is set. For example, SST related to voice call service may correspond to a high priority establishment reason, and SST related to video streaming service may correspond to a low priority establishment reason. Note that this association may be performed, for example, for each network operator. Thereby, the network operator can customize the relationship between the service and the connection establishment reason, and for example, it is possible to realize service differentiation such as facilitating the use of communication for a predetermined service. . In addition, for example, in a mixed situation such as a concert venue, the priority of the voice call service may be lowered to increase the priority of the messaging service, or the relationship between the establishment reason and the SST may be changed according to the situation. . The association information between the establishment reason and the SST is notified to the terminal device, for example, by broadcast transmission from the base station device. Thereby, the terminal device sets the establishment reason and the SST based on the notified association information. The base station apparatus can select whether to accept or reject the connection request according to, for example, the degree of priority indicated by the establishment reason and the degree of congestion of the network.
Moreover, although application of the above-mentioned method to SST was described, it is also possible to apply this method to Call type, and it is also possible to associate an establishment reason with Call Type. In this case, when connecting with a certain Call type, the terminal apparatus transmits, to the base station apparatus, a connection request in which an establishment reason corresponding to that Call type is set. The association of the call type and the establishment reason may be performed, for example, for each network operator. In that case, the association information between the establishment reason and the Call type can be notified to the terminal device, for example, by being broadcasted from the base station device, as in the case of the above-mentioned SST.

In one example, the base station apparatus has a hardware configuration as shown in FIG. 4 and includes, for example, aCPU 401, a ROM 402, a RAM 403, an external storage device 404, and a communication device 405. In the base station apparatus, a program for realizing the functions of the base station apparatus as described above, which is recorded, for example, in any of the ROM 402, the RAM 403, and the external storage device 404, is executed by the CPU 401. The CPU 401 may be replaced by one or more processors such as an ASIC (application specific integrated circuit), an FPGA (field programmable gate array), and a DSP (digital signal processor).

Subsequently, a configuration of a base station apparatus that performs connection processing with a terminal apparatus based on the establishment reason and the like configured as described above will be described. FIG. 4 shows an example of the hardware configuration of the base station apparatus. In one example, the base station apparatus has a hardware configuration as shown in FIG. 4 and includes, for example, a
And a base station apparatus controls the communication apparatus 405, for example by CPU401, and communicates between a terminal device and a network node. In addition, in FIG. 4, although the base station apparatus has shown the schematic as it has one communication apparatus 405, it is not restricted to this. For example, the base station apparatus may have a communication device for communication with the terminal device and a communication device for communication with the network node.
The base station apparatus may be provided with dedicated hardware for executing each function, or may execute a part of the hardware and a computer that operates a program to execute the other part. Also, all functions may be performed by a computer and a program.
Subsequently, a functional configuration example of the base station apparatus will be described using FIG. The base station apparatus includes, in one example, a wireless communication unit 501, a determination unit 502, and a connection processing unit 503. The wireless communication unit 501 performs wireless communication for establishing a wireless connection with at least a terminal device. The determination unit 502 determines whether the base station apparatus itself supports the establishment reason set in the RRC Connection Request received from the terminal apparatus or the SST set in the RRC Connection Setup Complete. Based on the determination result of determination unit 502, connection processing unit 503 belongs to the same group as the establishment reason or SST and supports the base station apparatus itself as necessary as described above. Treat it as another establishment reason or SST, and execute the wireless connection process with the terminal device. For example, the connection processing unit 503 holds a value indicating the establishment reason or SST in the message received from the terminal device by the wireless communication unit 501. Then, if the determination unit 502 determines that the establishment reason or the SST is not supported, the connection processing unit 503 belongs to the same group as the unsupported establishment reason or the value of the SST by the base station apparatus while belonging to the same group. Replace with a value indicating other supported establishment reasons or SST. In addition, the base station apparatus is, for example, a correspondence table of a value corresponding to an unsupported establishment reason or SST and a value indicating a supported establishment reason and SST to be replaced when the value is received. May be held, and conversion processing may be performed according to the received establishment reason or the value indicating the SST. In this case, as in the determination unit 502, the function of determining whether the establishment reason or the SST is supported may be omitted.
(Flow of processing)
The example of the flow of the process which a base station apparatus performs to FIG. 6 is demonstrated. The base station apparatus first obtains, from the terminal apparatus, for example, an establishment reason in RRC Connection Request, and SST in RRC Connection Setup Complete (S601). Here, the base station apparatus may acquire both the establishment reason and the SST, or may acquire only one. Note that the terminal device can, for example, obtain and hold, in advance, information on the association between the establishment reason and the SST from the network. In this case, the terminal apparatus can notify both the establishment reason and the SST to the base station apparatus by being notified of one of the SST and the establishment reason, for example, by a paging message from the network.

After that, the base station apparatus determines whether the own apparatus supports the establishment reason or SST acquired in S601 (S602). Then, when the acquired establishment reason or SST is not supported (NO in S602), the base station apparatus belongs to the same group as the establishment reason or SST and the establishment reason supported by the base station apparatus itself or SST Execute / continue the corresponding connection process (S603). For example, it is assumed that the establishment reason is classified into a group regarding origination by the terminal device and a group regarding termination. In this case, if the base station apparatus does not support a new establishment reason for origination by the terminal apparatus, the base station apparatus performs connection processing based on another establishment reason for origination by the terminal apparatus supported by the own apparatus. sell. On the other hand, if the establishment reason or SST acquired in S601 is supported (YES in S602), the base station apparatus can execute / continue the connection process based on the acquired establishment reason or SST (S604).
