Description
PORTABLE SOLAR PANEL CLEANING SYSTEM
Technical Field
The invention is related to a solar panel cleaning system which can be mounted onto the solar panels or which is integrated onto the panel frame at the manufacturing stage.
The invention is more particularly related to a solar panel cleaning system having a wiper which moves in the horizontal direction and which increases the efficiency of the solar panels converting the sunlight into electrical energy.
Prior Art
Solar energy is a renewable type of energy which does not run out. Nowadays it is frequently preferred because it is clean energy, and is easy-to-store and cost- efficient.
Solar panels are modular structures which convert the sun light falling upon it directly into electrical energy thanks to the silicon cells it contains. When sun light falls upon the solar panels working according to the photovoltaic principal, current is produced towards the panel ends. The efficiency rate of each solar panel is determined by the power it generates during usage. The output of the solar panels which may have mono -crystalline, polycrystal or amorphous structure varies between 5% to 20%. This efficiency rate decreases when dust, dirt, pollens and various particles accumulate on the panels and adhere thereon. With solar panels which are placed in a dirty and dusty environment and which remain constantly in an open area, such reasons may reduce the power capacity up to 30%.
With the aim of increasing the efficiency of solar panels, cleaning systems have been devised.
In the United States patent document filed on 03.05.2011 with the application number US2012120641A1 in the known state of the art, the cleaning system of a solar panel which provides energy for a street lamp working on solar energy is mentioned. The subject panel cleaning system comprises a storage reservoir in which water or detergent is placed, water injection openings, wiper, a motor providing for the wiper to work and a valve controlling the water flow. This automatic cleaning system makes the energy being generated efficiently by working automatically with the sensors it contains.
In the Chinese patent document filed on 23.06.2011 with the application number CN202145459U in the known state of the art, the cleaning system for a solar panel used for a street lamp is mentioned. A wiper and a washing system are provided in the panel. The washing system comprises an injection nozzle, a hydraulic cylinder and a liquid storage reservoir.
In the Japanese patent document filed on 03.07.2016 with the application number JP2016030255 A in the known state of the art, the panel cleaning device which operates automatically is mentioned. This wiper system moves parallel on the guiding rails set on the panel and contains both a sponge and a wiper. By this means, the dust on the panels and snow, during the winter, could be cleaned.
However, as the use of the above mentioned documents is not practical, as the wipers in the wiper systems operate at a certain angle and as they cannot clean the panel thoroughly, the need for developing a portable solar panel cleaning system subject to the invention has presented itself.
Purposes and Brief Description of the Invention
The purpose of the invention is to provide a cleaning system which increases the efficiency of the panels.
Another purpose of the invention is to provide a solar panel cleaning system which enables a more efficient cleaning of the panels by means of the wiper it comprises, wherein the wiper is oriented vertically and it moves practically horizontally.
The subject solar panel cleaning system operates with the motor and faucet which start to operate at the same time. The water entering the solar panel system from the faucet is transferred to the water spraying apertures by means of the hose and sprayed onto the exterior surface of the panel from the water spraying apertures, the sprayed water cleans the solar panel from dirt and dust with the help of the vertical wiper moving in a horizontal direction. Through this, the efficiency of the solar panel will increase.
Detailed Description of the Invention
The solar panel cleaning system realized for the purposes of this invention has been illustrated in the figures.
These figures depict;
Figure-1 Top view of the solar panel cleaning system of the invention as mounted on the solar panel.
Figure-2 Perspective view of the solar panel cleaning system of the invention mounted on the solar panel.
Figure-3 Perspective view of the portable version of the solar panel cleaning system of the invention without the solar panel.
Figure-4 Schematic view of the solar panel cleaning system of the invention from the top.
The parts in the figures are numbered one by one and the references of these numbers are given below.
1. Water inlet
2. Hose
3. Water spraying apertures
4. Parallel water outlet
5. Motor
6. Socket
7. Plug
8. Wiper
9. Box
10. Parallel moving wiper arms
The solar panel cleaning system of the invention comprises; a hose (2) whose one end is connected to the water inlet (1), and the other end to the parallel water outlet (4), where the inlets on the body of the hose are connected to water spraying apertures (3) and which transfers the water required by the cleaning system and which is located inside the box (9), a motor (5) which is placed in the box (9) and which enables the operation of the cleaning system, where the required energy for the motor is provided by the plug (7) plugged into the socket (6) where the socket (6) is located outside the box (9),
a wiper (8) which cleans the dust and the dirt on the solar panel by wiping, which is positioned vertically and moves in a horizontal direction by means of the two parallel moving wiper arms (10) it comprises.
The faucet turned on at regular intervals with the mechanical or computer- operated clock supplies the water required by the solar panel cleaning system. The required water enters from the water inlet (1) and it is transferred to the water spraying apertures (3) by means of the hose (2) to which the water inlet (1) is connected within the box (9). The excess water exits from the parallel water outlet (4). This parallel water outlet (4) can supply the water required by additional cleaning
systems by being connected to the water inlets (1) of the other panels in a serial fashion if desired.
The motor, for which the required energy is provided by the socket (6) and the plug
(7) that is plugged into the socket (6), starts to operate at the same time with the faucets.
The motor (5) starting to operate sprays the water from the water spraying apertures (3) to the external surface of the solar panel and activates the wiper (8). The wiper
(8) that is positioned vertically moves in a practically horizontal direction by means of the parallel moving wiper arms (10) it comprises and it cleans the solar panel with the water sprayed onto the panel.
By this means, the solar panels are cleansed from the dirt and the dust and the efficiency of the solar panels which convert the sun light into electrical energy is increased.
