A helmet cover system comprising: a flexible cover (202) configured to cover at least a portion of a helmet outer surface; an elongated rigid bar (204) attached to the cover; a first fastener component (206) positioned on the elongated bar, the first fastener component being configured to removably attach to a second, complementary fastener component (226) positioned on an exterior of the helmet (200).
