  • the composition of the gasket-forming material may be chosen such that the non-scavenger particle components of the gasket-forming material have a synergistic effect with the scavenger particles that are added to the gasket-forming material, imparting onto the incorporated scavenger particles a higher capacity to absorb water, and thereby enhancing the activation of the scavenger particles. Accordingly, in such embodiment a lesser amount of scavenger materials may be required to be added to the gasket-forming material to provide the gasket with the desired scavenging effect, which may not only reduced cost, but may also allow for easier and more flexible processing.
  • a gasket-forming material configured to provide both barrier and scavenging properties may be formed only from a thermoplastic polymer having a suitable hardness (e.g. HDPE) and a butyl rubber, wherein the only other components of the gasket-forming material comprise a scavenger and conventional additives (e.g. pigments, antioxidants, etc.).

Abstract

La présente invention concerne une fermeture métallique dotée de multiples pattes de blocage filetées conçues pour réduire la pression exercée par les pattes de la fermeture sur le col d'un récipient. Dans divers modes de réalisation, la fermeture métallique comprend une paroi supérieure, une jupe qui s'étend vers le bas depuis un bord périphérique de la paroi supérieure, un bord inférieur intégré sur la jupe, et une pluralité de pattes formées au niveau du bord inférieur de la jupe. Il est possible de réduire la pression de la fermeture en ajoutant des pattes et/ou en utilisant des pattes plus grosses par rapport aux autres fermetures métalliques. La fermeture est pourvue d'un joint d'étanchéité configuré pour assurer des propriétés d'étanchéité améliorées lorsque la fermeture est fixée sur un récipient.
