Abstract

The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, and provides a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, the positive electrode active material comprising: a lithium composite oxide core; and a surface part located on a surface of the core part, wherein the surface part contains an Al element and an M element; M is Mg, Ti, Ca, W, B, Ba, Zr, or a combination thereof; and the elements of the surface part satisfy the contents in equation 1 below: [Equation 1] Y = AX + C. In equation 1, Y is the total amount of Al and M in the surface part; X is a BET specific surface area value of the positive electrode active material; C is the minimum value of the total amount of Al, B, and M in the surface part; A is the slope for X and Y; 1500 < A < 1800; and 600 < C < 1000.
