  • United States Patent Application numberUS2013145547 and PCT application WO 2016/005626 disclose a Baby Crib which can be placed at one side of sleeping bed of parents where parents can easily access baby.
  • the disclosed baby crib can serve only two functions i.e. as a crib and as a co-sleeper, It also requires more space for storing at home and during travelling and cannot be used once the baby grows.
  • United States Patent Application numbers US2002/0002741 and U.S6470516 B2 disclose a cradle and rocking bassinet having similar limitations as it can't be used for multiple functions such as like a play gym, car seat etc.
  • Majority of baby sleeping products suffer from a common drawback i.e. they cause disturbance to the baby as he needs to be lifted from one place such as a cradle to the other such as a bed which results in the baby waking up and starting to crying, It is, therefore, desirable to have bassinet or baby carrier that can be readily unfolded so as not to cause any disturbance to baby while carrying, transferringand placing him. It would be further advantageous if a product could be used even when the child has grown.
  • a bassinet or crib which is used during initial few months could continue to be used for some other functional requirement as the child grows. Therefore, it is desirable to have a single device with multiple functional uses for multiple scenarios, for example like a baby carrier, bassinet, play gym, co-sleeper etc.

  • Cutouts 806 can be made in bottom base 813 for passing and accommodating nylon fabric strap 703 in assembly.
  • Cutout 807 can be made in right and left side panels 803/804 for passing car seat attachment fabric strap.
  • Magnet cut-outs 808 can be made in bottom base 813 for fixing the magnets in bottom base for locking the bottom flaps.
  • FIG. 8B illustrates an exploded view of plastic base assembly 800. Resting & gluing slots are made in all plastic panels for gluing & fixing the thin flexible plastic sheet 805. Male locators 810 can be made on the resting and gluing slots of all plastic panels and female locators 811 are made in thin plastic sheet for guiding the thin plastic sheet during assembly.
  • FIG. 9 illustrates exemplary working of bottom flaps in assembly.
  • flaps and/or legs can be fitted at bottom side of the bassinet for keeping whole system above the ground. This configuration can help keep the bassinet dust and dirt free.
  • one part of plastic hinge 902 can be attached with the plastic base 800 using screws, and other part of the plastic hinge can be fixed with the bottom flap 901. Both the parts of the plastic hinge 902 can be pivotally joined with each other using cylindrical pin for providing a rotational movement to the bottom flaps 901. Cut out 903 for magnets can be made in bottom flap901 for locking the bottom flaps during non-working condition.
  • bottom flaps When bottom flaps are in closed condition, magnets of bottom flaps 901 can be attracted and locked with the magnets provided in plastic bottom base panel 813.

All the side panels are connected using soft cord from extreme outer edges for its shape transformation, wherein soft cord is freely passed inside the piping/bidding between first stitch line and second stitch line.
  • Cord lock 1002 is provided on front side where two ends of soft cord are passed inside the cord lock.
  • Cord lock 1002 is spring operated and used to lock & unlock the soft cord.
  • top button 1004 of cord lock For transforming the bassinet from the open position (co-sleeper) into close position (bassinet / car seater) user needs to press the top button 1004 of cord lock and pull the soft cord in outward direction, when user simultaneously pulls the two ends of soft cord 1001 all panels start to raise in vertical direction. User needs to pull the soft cord till all the side panels are in proper vertically raised [position and touch each other. During the process of cord pulling, top button 1004 should be continuously kept in pressed condition, and after all the side panels are properly raised user can release the spring loaded button to locks the cord at that position. Thereafter, side flaps (left & right corner panels) of front and back panels can be manually bend towards the left and right-side panels and locked using stretchable cord lock.

  • Rocker Base 01 and 02 (1310, 1312) are made in curved shape from plastic material and can provide support to the rocker assembly on a level ground.
  • the support pipes 01,02, 03 and 04 (1302, 1304, 1306, 1308) can be made out of galvanized ferrous metal.
  • One end of the support pipe 01(1302) and support pipe 02(1304) can be fixed inside the rocker base 01(1310) and rocker base 02 (1312) respectively from front side, and the other ends can be fixed to the left and right support lead (1316, 1314) respectively.
  • One end of the support pipe 03(1306) and support pipe 04(1308) can be fixed with the rocker base 01(1310) and rocker base 02 (1312) respectively from rear side and their other ends can be fixed to the left and right support leads (1316, 1314) respectively.
  • Support pipe 01(1302) and support pipe 02 (1304) can be connected with each other by front side pipe hinge (1320), and support pipe 03(1306) and support pipe 04 (1308) can be connected with each other by rear side pipe hinge (1318) such that both the front and rear side pipe assemblies act as a scissor mechanism to adjust the height of the bassinet from ground.
  • Left support lead (1316) and right support lead (1314) can be made out of any one or combination of suitable materials such as but not limited to plastic and metallic materials. Both the leads provide support to the bassinet.

  • transformation of the disclosed bassinet to a play gym can help to engage them in physical activities. Transformation of Bassinet into co-sleeper is done by unlocking all side panel locks (1000). When all locks are opened, side panels lay down in same horizontal plane as bottom base. After removing the right and left support lead (1314andl316) whole rocking assembly structure (i.e. the bassinet as co-sleeper and the rocking assembly less the leads) can be used as a play gym.
  • rocking assembly needs to be inverted in such a way that both rocker base 01(1310) and rocker base 02(1312) comes on top as shown in FIG.14.
  • the rocker base can have hooks for hanging toys.
  • Inverted rocking assembly is located on top of the baby's sleeping bed in such a way that baby can easily access toys.
