  • the present invention relates to a baby bed.
  • the length of baby beds In order to enable a comfortable use, the length of baby beds must allow the baby a certain degree of movement and the possibility of stretching out completely, while maintaining a fairly compact structure so that they can be easily positioned and moved within an already furnished home environment and/or with limited available space, for example next to a bed.
  • Baby beds sufficiently long to accommodate the baby for the first years of life are known. However, they are inevitably cumbersome, and thus inconvenient and hard to manage within the home environment.
  • Baby beds endowed with a modular structure that enables the length of the bed to be modified compatibly with the baby's growth are also known.
  • This operation takes a long time and/or is complex to carry out and therefore not within the ability of all users.
  • the additional structural components necessary to lengthen the structure are cumbersome also when not in use and must be bought separately, resulting in an increase in costs for the user.
  • the Applicant thus set out to solve the problem of providing a baby bed whose length may be varied in such a way as to be suitable for providing the baby with a comfortable support surface throughout the entire period of growth from birth to three years of age.

  • the invention relates to a baby bed having a main longitudinal direction of extension, the bed comprising a platform.
  • the platform preferably comprises a first portion and a second portion that are mutually distinct and interpenetrating, wherein an interpenetration length along the longitudinal direction is variable so that said platform is able to assume at least a first and a second configuration, the platform in said second configuration having a longitudinal length that is greater than the longitudinal length in said first configuration, wherein in each of said first and second configurations, said platform has a horizontal support surface for a baby.
  • Longitudinal length means the length along the longitudinal direction.
  • Interpenetration length means the longitudinal length of the mutually interpenetrating sections of the platform portions.

Description

DESCRIPTION
"BABY BED"
The present invention relates to a baby bed.
In order to enable a comfortable use, the length of baby beds must allow the baby a certain degree of movement and the possibility of stretching out completely, while maintaining a fairly compact structure so that they can be easily positioned and moved within an already furnished home environment and/or with limited available space, for example next to a bed.
During the first years of life after birth, babies undergo considerable physical development, substantially doubling in height. It is thus necessary to change the bed depending on the baby's growth.
Baby beds sufficiently long to accommodate the baby for the first years of life are known. However, they are inevitably cumbersome, and thus inconvenient and hard to manage within the home environment.
Baby beds endowed with a modular structure that enables the length of the bed to be modified compatibly with the baby's growth are also known. In this case, in order to increase the length of the bed, it is envisaged to disassemble a substantial part of its structure and then reassemble the bed, typically using further structural components. The Applicant has noted that this operation takes a long time and/or is complex to carry out and therefore not within the ability of all users. Furthermore, the additional structural components necessary to lengthen the structure are cumbersome also when not in use and must be bought separately, resulting in an increase in costs for the user. Finally, in order to bring the bed back to a shorter length, it is necessary to repeat the operations of disassembling the structure and reassembling it, with all the above-described problems of complex and time-consuming operations.
The Applicant thus set out to solve the problem of providing a baby bed whose length may be varied in such a way as to be suitable for providing the baby with a comfortable support surface throughout the entire period of growth from birth to three years of age. A further problem solved by the present invention is that of providing a baby bed whose length can be easily and rapidly modified in both ways, while at the same time limiting the number of necessary additional components.
According to one aspect, the invention relates to a baby bed having a main longitudinal direction of extension, the bed comprising a platform.
The platform preferably comprises a first portion and a second portion that are mutually distinct and interpenetrating, wherein an interpenetration length along the longitudinal direction is variable so that said platform is able to assume at least a first and a second configuration, the platform in said second configuration having a longitudinal length that is greater than the longitudinal length in said first configuration, wherein in each of said first and second configurations, said platform has a horizontal support surface for a baby.
Longitudinal length means the length along the longitudinal direction.
Interpenetration length means the longitudinal length of the mutually interpenetrating sections of the platform portions.
According to the Applicant, the aforesaid features, in particular the interpenetration between the two platform portions is longitudinally variable so that that the platform is able to assume at least two configurations having a different longitudinal length, enable the user to vary the length of the bed simply by moving the two platform portions away from/closer to each other. Furthermore, as the two platform portions remain interpenetrating in the two configurations, they can perform structural support functions in both configurations, making additional structural elements unnecessary. In this manner, the user can adjust the length of the bed so as to provide the baby with a support surface consistent with the baby's height during the initial period of his or her growth, with a simple movement and without laborious operations of assembling/disassembling additional structural components.
The present invention can offer one or more of the following preferred features.
The platform preferably comprises a resting board comprising at least a respective first portion supported by, and preferably integral with, said first platform portion.
In one embodiment said first portion of the resting board fully forms, in said first configuration of the platform, said horizontal support surface.
The resting board preferably comprises a respective second portion, distinct from said first portion of the resting board and supported by, and preferably integral with, said second platform portion.
In said first configuration of the platform, said first and second portions of the resting board preferably fully form said horizontal support surface. In this manner, the resting board can be designed in such a way as to have advantageous characteristics of convenience and lightness, leaving the structural function up to the platform portions. In said second configuration of the platform, the resting board preferably comprises a further portion, distinct from said first portion of the resting board. Said further portion is typically not part of the bed when the platform is in the first configuration.
In one embodiment, wherein the resting board consists in said first portion, said further portion is adjacent to said first portion of the resting board and removably supported by said first portion of the resting board and/or by at least one of said platform portions, said first portion and said further portion of the resting board fully forming said horizontal support surface.
In a preferred embodiment, wherein the resting board comprises the first and second portions, said further portion is also distinct from said second portion of the resting board and is interposed between, and adjacent to, said first and second portions of the resting board and removably supported by at least one between said first and second portions of the resting board, more preferably by both, and/or by at least one of said platform portions, said first, second and further portions of the resting board fully forming said horizontal support surface.
Advantageously, said further removable portion of the resting board enables the support surface for the baby to be formed simply and rapidly in the second configuration and at the same time enables the platform to be reconfigured in the first configuration simply by removing the further portion and repositioning the two platform portions.
Said first and/or said second portion(s) of the resting board preferably comprise, more preferably at mutually facing respective ends, respective protruding elements and/or respective seats, more preferably integral with the rest of the respective portion of the resting board, shaped so as to support said further portion of the resting board in said second configuration. More preferably, in the first configuration said protruding elements of the first portion of the resting board are alternated with and/or fitted to said protruding elements of the second portion of the resting board. In this manner, the resting board forms the horizontal support surface in a simple and structurally sound manner.
Said further portion of the resting board preferably comprises, at its ends facing, respectively, said first and said second portion of the resting board, protruding elements, more preferably integral with the rest of said further portion of the resting board, countershaped to, and in said second configuration housed in, said seats of said first and second portions of the resting board in said second configuration. In this manner, in the second configuration of the platform the further portion of the resting board will be removably supported in a secure fashion (as movements of the further portion in a transversal direction are also precluded), while at the same time maintaining the platform structurally simple, compact and rational.
In one embodiment, said first and second portions of the resting board are mutually interpenetrating, where the degree of interpenetration along the longitudinal direction varies according to said degree of interpenetration of said two platform portions, and where said first and second portions of the resting board form, for every degree of interpenetration, said horizontal support surface. In such a case, no further removable element is necessary to form the support surface in the second configuration. Furthermore, it is possible to configure the bed along a continuum of longitudinal lengths comprised between the lengths of the first and second configurations. For example, said first and second portions of the resting board have respective portions of facing ends shaped like a comb and mutually interposed. In this manner, a flat, sufficiently robust rest surface is formed for every degree of interpenetration.
Said first, second and further portions of the resting board are preferably each a single undeformable body, more preferably made of plastic material, even more preferably obtained by moulding. In such a manner, the resting board will be simple and economical to produce.
Each of said two platform portions preferably comprises a respective longitudinal support, more preferably tubular, wherein said respective longitudinal supports are mutually interpenetrating, more preferably in a telescopic manner. The possibility for the longitudinal supports to interpenetrate telescopically enables the platform to support a baby in each of the configurations thereof in a simple, compact and rational manner. Each of said two platform portions preferably comprises a respective transversal support, more preferably tubular, even more preferably rigidly coupled to the respective longitudinal support. In such a manner, it is possible to assure a sufficient support of a baby's weight in every point of the surface, while limiting the amount, and thus the weight and costs, of the material.
In said first configuration, the longitudinal length of said horizontal support surface is preferably greater than or equal to 70 cm, more preferably greater than or equal to 80 cm and/or less than or equal to 120 cm, more preferably less than or equal to 1 10 cm. In this manner, the length of the bed will be suitable for a baby in about the first six months of life.
A difference between the longitudinal length of said horizontal support surface in said second configuration and in said first configuration is preferably greater than or equal to 15 cm, more preferably greater than or equal to 20 cm and/or less than or equal to 40 cm, more preferably less than or equal to 30 cm. In this manner, in the second configuration of the platform the length will be suitable for the baby's sleep from about six months to about three years of age.
The interpenetration length in the second configuration is preferably greater than or equal to 10 cm, more preferably greater than or equal to 15 cm. In this manner, the structural continuity of the platform and the structural strength thereof will be ensured. The platform preferably comprises a mattress resting on said support surface, in order to offer a comfortable surface for the baby to sleep on.
Said bed preferably comprises two vertical uprights positioned on longitudinally opposite sides of said platform, the platform being fixed to, and supported by, said uprights. The two uprights are preferably set in a central position along the transversal direction along a vertical median plane of the bed parallel to the longitudinal direction.
Each of said uprights preferably has a variable height, more preferably each of said uprights has a telescopic structure, comprising a respective upper portion and a respective lower portion. In this manner, it is possible to adjust the height of the bed in such a way as to make its use convenient for users. For example, it is possible to adjust the height of the bed in such a way that the rest surface of the bed is at the same height as a normal bed, so that there a substantial continuity between the two.
Said bed preferably comprises a frame mechanically connected to said platform and set in a position above said platform.
The bed preferably comprises one or more sides suitable for being (removably) anchored at the top to said frame and being (removably) anchored at the bottom to said platform. Said side is typically made of soft and flexible material, for example fabric or plastic. In this manner, the bed can be provided with one or more sides which reduce the risk of the baby falling out and the frame further acts as a handrail of the bed.
Said frame preferably comprises two portions that are mutually distinct and symmetric relative to said median plane.
Preferably, said frame, more preferably each portion of said frame, is fixed by longitudinally opposite parts of the frame to respective upper ends of said vertical uprights.
Preferably, said frame, more preferably each portion of said frame, has a (respective) longitudinally telescopic structure, such that its longitudinal length can be varied according to the length of the platform. In this manner, the frame, too, can be lengthened or shortened, following the variation in the length of the frame, by means of a simple operation by the user.
Preferably, at least one, more preferably each, of said two frame portions is configured to rotate (more preferably independently of each other) around a respective rotation axis having a direction parallel to the longitudinal direction and passing through said upper end of said vertical upright.
Preferably, the frame, more preferably each frame portion, has a tubular structure (with a circular cross section).
Each frame portion preferably comprises a respective first and second section, typically rectilinear, longitudinally opposite and disposed, in a first configuration of said each frame portion, substantially vertically, wherein said first and second sections extend from the respective rotation axis to a respective top end height of said each frame portion. In this manner, the position of the side can be advantageously modified with ease in order to be adapted to the baby's height and/or the use desired by the user. In a second configuration of said each frame portion, said each frame portion is preferably rotated around the respective rotation axis by 90° relative to the first configuration, in such a way that the respective first and second sections have a substantially horizontal extension. The possibility of rotation of the first and second sections of the two frame portions acts in synergy with the possibility of easily adjusting the length of the bed, since it is possible to adapt the height of the sides according to the length of the bed. For example, in the first configuration of the platform (short bed) the sides are preferably in the lowered configuration (i.e. the two frame portions are rotated into their second configuration), whereas in the second configuration of the platform (long bed) the sides are preferably in the raised configuration (i.e. the two frame portions are disposed in their first configuration). In this manner, the sides are adapted to the needs arising from the respective age of the baby.
Each first and second section of the frame portion preferably has a length that is substantially equal to a half-width of said platform. 'Width' means the extent along a direction orthogonal to said longitudinal direction. In this manner, in the second configuration of the frame portion, the ends of the first and second sections will be on the vertical of the respective longitudinal side of the platform, and offer a support to the sides, so that the latter have a substantially vertical extension.
Each frame portion preferably comprises a respective third section continuously linking said respective first section with said respective second section and whose extent, in said first configuration of said each frame portion, corresponds to a perimetral extent of said platform and lies substantially horizontally, and in said second configuration of said each frame portion, lies substantially vertically. In this manner, in the first configuration of the respective frame portion the third section provides a support to the side, such as to enable it to extend substantially vertically.
Each rotation axis of the frame portions is preferably spaced vertically apart from said platform (typically from said resting board) by a distance substantially equal to said half- width of the platform. In this manner, in the second configuration of the respective frame portion, an intermediate section of each third section is substantially at the same height as the platform at a longitudinal perimetral side thereof, thus forming, in synergy with the fact that each first and second section are as long as said half-width, a cot with the possibility of eliminating a longitudinal side (so-called co-bedding function).
Each third section preferably comprises said respective longitudinally telescopic structure. In this manner, the third section will enable an adjustment to be made to the length of the bed in each of the configurations of the platform.
The bed preferably comprises a frame covering made of a material selected from among the group: fabric (more preferably padded), polymeric material (more preferably expanded), elastomeric material (more preferably expanded) and silicone foam. More preferably, said covering is made of fabric. In this manner, a soft handrail is formed, one that is comfortable to the touch and moreover limits the safety risks for the baby in the event of an impact with the frame.
Said platform portions and/or said frame and/or said uprights are preferably made of a material selected from among the following group: iron and iron alloys, aluminium and aluminium alloys, hard plastic (for example, thermosetting), composite material, carbon fibre. More preferably, said platform portions are made of aluminium alloy and said frame is made of iron alloy. In this manner, a lightweight, sturdy material is used to make the supporting structure of the bed.
Said resting board is preferably made of a material selected from among the following group: thermosetting polymers, thermoplastic polymers, composite materials, wood and metal alloys. More preferably, said resting board is made of polypropylene.
In one aspect, the invention relates to a baby bed having a main longitudinal direction of extension, the bed comprising a platform (with a fixed length or, alternatively, according to any one of the aforesaid embodiments) and a frame according to any one of the aforesaid embodiments.
Said bed preferably comprises one or more sides according to any one of the aforesaid embodiments.
Said bed preferably comprises two vertical uprights according to any one of the aforesaid embodiments.
The features and advantages of the present invention will be further clarified in the following detailed description of some embodiments of the present invention, presented by way of non-limiting example.
The detailed description that follows refers to the appended figures, wherein:
- figure 1 shows a perspective view of a bed according to the present invention in a second configuration of the platform and in a first configuration of the frame;
- figures 2-4 show respective perspective views of the bed of figure 1 , configured as in figure 1 , with some parts progressively exploded and/or removed;
- figures 5 and 6 show respective perspective views of the bed of figure 1 in a first configuration of the platform and in a second configuration of the frame;
- figure 7 shows a perspective view of a detail of the bed in the configuration of use of figures 5 and 6, partially exploded and with some parts removed.
With reference to the appended figures, the reference number 1 indicates a baby bed, having a main longitudinal direction of extension 2.
The bed comprises a platform 10, in turn comprising a first portion 1 1 and a second portion 12 that are mutually distinct and interpenetrating.
The interpenetration length Lc along the longitudinal direction is preferably variable so that the platform is able to assume at least a first configuration, shown by way of example in figures 5 and 6, and a second configuration, shown by way of example in figures 1 -4, where interpenetration length means the length along the longitudinal direction 2 of the mutually interpenetrating sections of the platform portions 1 1 and 12. In each of its configurations, the platform has a horizontal support surface 6 for a baby.
The platform preferably comprises a mattress 61 made of soft material resting on the support surface. The mattress is preferably made up of distinct elements countershaped, respectively, to each portion of the resting board and which are configured to rest removably on the respective portion of the resting board present in the bed, as illustrated by way of example in the figures. The mattress typically comprises a fabric covering that encloses a foam rubber filling.
In the embodiment shown in the figures, for example, the longitudinal length of the support surface in the first configuration of the platform is about 89 cm and in the second configuration of the platform it is about 1 15 cm. Consequently, the difference in the interpenetration length is, for example, equal to 26 cm. The interpenetration length Lc in the second configuration is, for example, equal to about 27 cm.
As shown by way of example in the figure, the platform 10 comprises a resting board 20 comprising a first portion 21 integral with the first platform portion 1 1 and a second portion 22, distinct from the first portion 21 and integral with the second platform portion 12.
In the first configuration of the platform (figures 5 and 6), said first 21 and second 22 portions of the resting board preferably form the entire horizontal support surface 6.
In the second configuration of the platform 10, the resting board 20 preferably comprises a further portion 23 distinct from the first 21 and second 22 portions of the resting board. The further portion 23 of the resting board is interposed between the first 21 and second 22 portions of the resting board and is removably supported by the first 21 and second 22 portions of the resting board and by at least one portion of the platform (in the example shown, the second platform portion 12 external to the first portion 1 1 ).
As may be seen in figures 5 and 6, the further portion 23 is not part of the bed when the platform 10 is in its first configuration.
In this manner, in the second configuration of the platform 10, the first 21 , second 22 and further 23 portions of the resting board fully form the horizontal support surface 6. The first 21 and second 22 portions of the resting board comprise, at respective mutually facing ends, respective protruding elements 24 (typically disposed below the respective portion of the resting board) and respective seats 25 (typically disposed above), integral with the rest of the respective portion of the resting board, and configured to support the further portion 23 of the resting board in the second configuration.
Each of the first 21 and second 22 portions of the resting board preferably comprises cavities 27 countershaped to the protruding elements of the other portion so that the protruding elements 24 and the cavity 27 mutually fit together in the first configuration. In unillustrated embodiments, the protruding elements of the first portion of the resting board in the first configuration are simply alternated with those of the second portion of the resting board, without the need for countershaped cavities.
The further portion 23 of the resting board preferably comprises, at ends thereof respectively facing the first 21 and second 22 portions of the resting board, protruding elements 26, for example in the form of transversely extending fins, integral with the rest of the further portion 23 of the resting board and shaped so as to engage the seats 25 of the first 21 and second 22 portions of the resting board in the second configuration. The first 21 , second 22 and further 23 portions of the resting board are preferably each a single undeformable body made of plastic material and obtained by moulding.
In an alternative embodiment (not shown), the first portion of the resting board fully forms, in the first configuration of the platform, the horizontal support surface. In other words, the resting board in the first configuration consists in a single piece coinciding with the first portion. In this embodiment, the further portion (distinct from the first portion of the resting board), in the second configuration, is adjacent to the first portion of the resting board and removably supported by the first portion of the resting board and at least one of the platform portions. In this manner, the first portion and further portion of the resting board fully form the horizontal support surface in the second configuration of the platform.
In a further embodiment (not shown), the first and second portions of the resting board are likewise mutually interpenetrating, wherein the degree of interpenetration along the longitudinal direction varies according to the degree of interpenetration of the two platform portions 1 1 and 12, and wherein the first and second portions of the resting board form, for each degree of interpenetration, the horizontal support surface. For example, the first and second portions of the resting board can have facing ends shaped like a comb and mutually interposed. In such a case no further removable element is necessary in order to form the support surface in the second configuration. In a further embodiment (not shown), the first and second portions of the platform also form the resting board. For example, the first and second portions of the platform are shaped like a board with the facing ends shaped like a comb and mutually interposed and are provided with a mechanical coupling means that renders the board self- supporting. For example, the coupling means can comprise, in the section of interpenetration Lc, longitudinally extending slots (for example along the teeth of the combs) and sturdy transversely extending pins that pass through the slots and slide inside them as the degree of interpenetration varies.
Each platform portion preferably comprises a respective longitudinal tubular support 13 and 14 (for example with a square cross section). The respective longitudinal supports achieve the telescopic interpenetration of the platform 10 in such a way as to support a baby's weight in each of the configurations of the platform.
The telescopic movement of the longitudinal supports 13 and 14 is aided by a suitable means for adjusting and/or locking the position; for example, as shown in figure 4 and 6, the longitudinal support 13 is endowed with a longitudinal slot 17 in which a pin 18 integral with the longitudinal support 14 slides. By actuating an eccentric lever 19 engaged on one end of the pin 18, it is possible to enable or prevent the mutual sliding of the two longitudinal supports.
In the embodiment shown by way of example in the figures, each platform portion comprises a respective tubular (square) transversal support 15 and 16, preferably rigidly coupled to the respective longitudinal support 13 and 14.
In one embodiment, not shown, the bed can comprise four uprights at the vertices of its layout.
As shown, the bed preferably comprises two vertical uprights 9 disposed on the median plane 3 on sides longitudinally opposite the platform 10, the platform being fixed to, and supported by, the uprights. Each upright 9 preferably has a variable height, obtained by means of a telescopic structure, comprising a respective upper portion 8 and a respective lower portion 7. Each upright 9 typically comprises a respective adjustment means 70 for adjusting the height of the upright, configured to be activated by the user. By way of example, as shown, the respective adjustment means comprises a pin, integral with the platform and the upper portion of the upright, activated by a pushbutton situated under the platform. During use, the pin occupies one of the seats fashioned on the lower portion 7 of the respective upright, which are preferably distributed along a vertical direction at various heights. In a locked configuration, a spring keeps the pin in place inside a seat, whereas in an unlocked configuration, the user, by pressing the pushbutton, disengages the pin from the seat and enables the reciprocal movement of the upright portions 7 and 8.
The platform, in particular the two platform portions 1 1 and 12, are preferably fixed to the (lower ends of the) upper portions 8. In the embodiment shown by way of example in the figures, each upright 9 comprises, on a surface thereof turned towards the inside of the bed 1 , a covering 62 made of soft material.
The bed 1 preferably comprises a frame 30, which is mechanically connected to the platform 10 and is set in a position above the platform. The frame 30 comprises two frame portions 31 and 32 which are mutually distinct and symmetric relative to a median plane 3 of the bed that is vertical and parallel to the longitudinal direction 2. The bed preferably comprises, for each first and second configuration of the platform, a respective covering 36, 37 for the frame 30. Each covering 36, 37 preferably comprises two respective portions countershaped to the two frame portions 31 and 32. By way of example, each covering portion is a single piece made of fabric padded with soft material (for example, foam rubber).
Each frame portion 31 and 32 is preferably fixed by respective longitudinally opposite parts to respective upper ends of the upper portions 8 of the vertical uprights 9.
Each frame portion 31 and 32 preferably has a respective longitudinally telescopic structure, so that its longitudinal length can be varied according to the length of the platform 10. For example, each frame portion is composed of two hollow tubes with a circular cross section, inserted slidingly one inside in the other.
Each frame portion is configured to rotate, independently of the other, around a respective rotation axis 4, 5, having a direction parallel to the longitudinal direction 2 and passing through the anchorage of each frame portion at the upper end of the vertical upright 9.
Each frame portion 31 and 32 preferably comprises a respective first 33 and second 34 rectilinear section, longitudinally opposite and substantially vertically disposed in the first configuration of each frame portion 1 1 and 12.
The first 33 and second 34 sections extend between the respective rotation axes 4 and 5 and the respective heights of the upper end of each frame portion.
Each frame portion 31 and 32 is able to assume a second configuration shown in figures 5 and 6, where each frame portion 31 and 32 is rotated around the respective rotation axis by 90° relative to the first configuration. In the second configuration, the respective first 33 and second 34 sections have a substantially horizontal extension. The length of each first 33 and second 34 section of the frame portion is preferably substantially equal to a half-width of the platform.
The first sections 33 of the platform portion are preferably both fixed to one of the uprights 9 (typically to the upper end thereof) by means of a first rotation mechanism 100. The second sections 34 are preferably both fixed to the other upright in an analogous manner by means of a second rotation mechanism, typically identical to the first.
By way of example, as shown in fig. 7, each rotation mechanism 100 comprises a coupling plate 101 (integral with the respective upright and L shaped) to which each first section 33 is hinged so as to rotate around the respective rotation axis 4 and 5. The rotation mechanism comprises, for each first section 33, a release plate 103 having a slot hinged to the respective rotation axis 4, 5 and a peg 102. The peg engages a respective guide 105 fashioned in the plate 101 . A spring 106 (typically a compression spring) is interposed between the release plate 103 and the first section 33 so as to keep the release plate 103 pushed away from the first section 33. In this manner, the corresponding peg 102 is kept in place against, alternatively, one of two limit stops of the respective guide 105, the limit stops corresponding, respectively, to the first and second configurations of the frame. As shown, the upper portion (horizontal) of the coupling plate 101 is provided with holes 1 10 which, in the first configuration of the frame, are engaged by pins 1 1 1 integral with the release plates in order to stabilise the frame. A pushbutton 107 is integral with the release plate 103 so that it can be activated by the user.
Each frame portion 31 and 32 comprises a respective third section 35 continuously linking the respective first 33 section and respective second 34 section and whose extent, in the first configuration of each frame portion 31 and 32, corresponds to the perimetral extent of the underlying platform.
Each third section 35 preferably comprises the respective longitudinally telescopic structure of the respective frame portion.
In the example shown in the figures, each third section 35 extends with a C shape, but in other embodiments, not shown, it is able to assume, for example, a shape with right- angled rectilinear segments.
Consequently, the third section 35 of each frame portion 31 and 32 extends in a substantially horizontal plane in the first configuration, and extends in a substantially vertical plane in the second configuration of each frame portion.
Each rotation axis 4 and 5 of the frame portions is preferably spaced apart from the platform 10 (for example from the support surface 6) by a distance substantially equal to the half-width of the platform.
In use, the rotation of the two frame portions 31 and 32 acts in synergy with the adjustment of the length of the bed: in fact, it is possible to adapt the height of the sides according to the length of the bed.
For example, in the first configuration of the platform 10 (short bed 1 , figures 5 and 6), each frame portion is preferably rotated in its second configuration, thus constituting a support for the respective side (not shown), whose height is substantially determined by the vertical height of the third section 35 in the second configuration. In the second configuration of the platform 10 (long bed 1 , figures 1 -4), each frame portion is preferably disposed in its first configuration, thus constituting a support for the respective side of greater height.
By way of example, the platform portions and uprights are made of aluminium alloy, the frame of iron alloy and the resting board of polypropylene.
The bed 1 preferably comprises a set of sides (typically made of fabric mesh), each suitable for a specific configuration of use of the bed.
For example, the set of sides comprises a first side conformed so as to be adapted to the configuration of use of the bed shown in figs. 1 -4. The first side preferably comprises two semi-portions 63, 64 each suitable for being removably anchored at the top to the respective frame portion 31 and 32 (by way of example, along the whole first, second and third sections), typically by means of a series of zip fasteners (not shown) applied on the respective covering of each frame portion, and removably anchored at the bottom to the platform 10, typically by means of snap fasteners (not shown) applied along the whole perimeter of the horizontal support surface 6.
For example, the set of sides comprises a second side (not shown) conformed so as to be adapted to the configuration of use of the bed shown in figs. 5-6. The second side is preferably suitable for being removably anchored at the top to the first and second sections of the frame portions 31 and 32, typically by means of a series of zip fasteners (not shown) applied on the respective covering of the first and second sections of the frame portions, and removably anchored at the bottom to the platform 10, typically by means of the aforesaid snap fasteners. In this configuration of use, the second side can be lowered on at least one longitudinal side (for example, by means of suitable hinges) in order to obtain the configuration commonly called co-bedding, which provides for the bed 1 to be placed next to a bed where the side is lowered, thus offering a substantially continuous horizontal surface and allowing the user easy access to the inside of the bed in order to interact with the baby.
In one configuration of use (not shown), one frame portion is in its first configuration, whereas the other frame portion is in its second configuration, thus obtaining a sofa-like structure (obtainable with the platform in both the first and second configurations).
As shown in the figures, the bed comprises two supporting feet 50, one per upright, each endowed with a tilting wing 51 that is able to assume a first position, shown in the figure, in which it offers the bed a flat surface for resting stably on the floor, and a second position (not shown), rotated relative to the first, wherein it offers a curved surface for resting on the floor so as to enable the rocking of the bed.
