Abstract

The present invention relates to a smoking pipe comprising a built-in tobacco lighting device therein. Said pipe comprises a tobacco container, a vertical ferrocerium rod affixed internally to one end of said container, and a rough metal rod located perpendicular to the vertical ferrocerium rod, the ends of which are located in two rectangular openings situated in opposite sides of the tobacco container. Said rod can be moved manually along the two openings comprising the ends thereof, thus rubbing against the ferrocerium rod, which produces the spark needed to light the tobacco comprised in the tobacco container.

Description

SMOKING PIPE WITH BUILT-IN LIGHTER
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The present invention can be included in the field of smoking pipes, and in particular, in the field of smoking pipes coupled to tobacco lighters. More specifically, the object of the invention relates to a smoking pipe comprising a built-in tobacco lighting device inside the tobacco container such that the user does not need to have and handle tobacco lighting means separately, such as lighters or matches. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
It is well known that pipes for smoking tobacco require the use of another additional and independent tool for lighting the tobacco, such as a gas lighter, which must be carried and handled separately and generally tends to get lost or stops working due to lack of gas. Without a traditional lighter available, it is almost impossible to light the tobacco inside a pipe.
Therefore, the idea of combining the pipe with a tobacco lighting device has been implemented in several occasions. Thus, for example, patent document US2549726 describes a pipe combined with a mechanical lighter incorporated on the outside of the tobacco compartment. Said lighter can be coupled and uncoupled from the pipe. The main disadvantage of this lighting mechanism is that it must further comprise a compartment to hold the fuel needed for lighting and a wick.
Moreover, US2588034 describes a pipe combined with a conventional lighter. However, said lighter is externally coupled to the pipe, which requires the user to use his or her hand to protect the flame in order to light the contents of the pipe under adverse environmental conditions such as wind or rain. This lighter can move towards the upper part of the compartment comprising the tobacco in order to cause the lighting thereof.
Document US5417227 discloses a pipe comprising a combustion chamber and a movable lighter so that the flame is introduced or directed towards the inside of the pipe.
Lastly, patent document US20040187879 describes a pipe comprising a lighter and a fuel tank for generating a flame in response to the actuation of a device located on one of the sides. The flame extends into the combustion chamber to light the material located in the tobacco container.
However, all these pipes require either cumbersome mechanisms for their lighting or complex designs to attach the lighter to the body thereof. That is why there is still a need to have smoking pipes that incorporate a tobacco lighter that can be used easily, directly and quickly, is safe, simple from a structural point of view, does not require a fuel tank coupled to the pipe and also makes it possible to light the flame even in adverse environmental conditions such as wind or rain.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a smoking pipe comprising a built-in tobacco lighting device therein. Said pipe comprises a tobacco container, a vertical ferrocerium rod affixed internally to one end of said container and a rough metal rod located perpendicular to the vertical ferrocerium rod, the ends of which are located or coupled in two rectangular openings located vertically in opposite sides of the tobacco container. Since the ends of the rough metal rod protrude from both openings, said rod can be moved manually along the two openings comprising the ends thereof, thus rubbing against the ferrocerium rod, which produces the spark necessary for lighting the tobacco comprised in the tobacco container.
Therefore, the object of the invention relates to a smoking pipe, also referred to as "pipe of the invention", comprising a tobacco bowl or container characterized in that it comprises a tobacco lighting device therein, wherein said tobacco lighting device comprises:
- a fixed vertical ferrocerium rod affixed internally to one end of said tobacco container;
- a movable rough metal rod located perpendicular to and in contact with the vertical ferrocerium rod; and
- two openings located in opposite sides of the tobacco container, wherein the movable rod is moved such that the friction with the fixed rod produces a spark.
Preferably, the tobacco lighting device is arranged at one of the inner ends of the tobacco container, preferably at the end opposite the opening of the stem, such that it does not interfere with the filling of said container with tobacco or with the cleaning thereof.
In the present invention, the vertical ferrocerium rod is fixed and the rough metal rod is movable and the two rods have the same inclination in order to allow friction to occur between them.
Preferably, the tobacco container further comprises a fastening element configured to accommodate the ferrocerium rod.
Preferably, the rough metal rod is made of iron.
Preferably, both the vertical ferrocerium rod and the rough metal rod are removable or replaceable, that is, they can be removed from their location and replaced easily and comfortably with new ones. Preferably, the vertical ferrocerium rod is affixed internally to the tobacco container at the end opposite the opening of the stem.
Preferably, the ends of the rough metal rod located inside the two vertical rectangular openings protrude from said openings. This way, both ends can be handled from the outside of the body of the pipe by the user in order to move them along the openings and thus cause friction with the vertical ferrocerium rod as required for the spark needed to light the tobacco to occur.
Thus, the present invention provides a tobacco lighting device comprised inside the pipe itself and which therefore facilitates the direct, quick, easy and safe combustion of tobacco, thus reducing the time and efforts required for light. In addition, this internal arrangement of the lighting device inside the body of the pipe prevents the wind, or adverse environmental factors in general, from making said lighting difficult. This is a device with a configuration that makes it possible to easily and quickly achieve the friction necessary to generate sparks, without the need to have and handle additional and independent lighting means such as lighters or matches, or to comprise a built-in fuel tank also incorporated in the body of the pipe.
The present invention thus represents a solution to the need for lighting tobacco contained in a pipe directly and comfortably, without requiring any additional tool such as a gas lighter.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The following figures are provided in an illustrative rather than limiting manner.
FIG. 1 shows a complete side view of the pipe of the invention comprising the lighting device inside the tobacco container.
FIG. 2 shows a front view of the pipe of the invention
PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
A preferred embodiment of the invention is described below based on the figures provided.
FIG. 1 shows a side view of the pipe of the invention wherein the tobacco container (1 ) comprises, at the end opposite the opening of the stem, a vertical ferrocerium rod (3) affixed internally to said container by means of a fastening element (6) configured to accommodate said rod. The rough metal rod (2), preferably made of iron, can be moved along the openings (4) comprising the ends thereof at a 90° angle with respect to the ferrocerium rod (3). The tobacco (5) is located inside the tobacco container or bowl (1 ).
FIG. 2 shows a front view of the pipe of the invention, wherein the ferrocerium rod (3) is in a fixed and vertical position inside the tobacco container (1 ), and the rough metal rod (2) is located perpendicular to the ferrocerium rod (3) and can be moved along the openings (4) located vertically in each side of the tobacco container (1 ), thus rubbing against the ferrocerium rod (3).
Therefore, the present invention relates to a device that allows the contents of a pipe to be lighted, particularly the tobacco comprised inside the pipe, due to a rough metal rod (2) and a ferrocerium rod (3) which, when rubbed against each other, generate the initial spark needed to light the tobacco. The ferrocerium rod (3) is embedded, affixed or held by a fastening element (6) inside the tobacco container (1 ) of the pipe. This rod is removable, that is, it can be replaced in case of wear. The tobacco container (1 ) further has two rectangular openings (4) located vertically in opposite sides of said container configured to house the two ends of the rough metal rod (2). Said ends protrude from the openings (4) in order to be manually moved from the outside of the pipe and thus generate friction perpendicular to the other ferrocerium rod (3).
