Abstract

The present invention relates to a subsurface irrigation device for perennial trees, such as date palms, which comprises two parts. The first part comprises: (1) a device base in the form of a cup having a hole at the bottom for releasing water to the plants, and a lateral hole for water to enter the device; (2) an outer casing of the device; (3) an optional extension containing an electronic sensor; (4) an upper lid of the device; (5) a transparent part for viewing the movement of a float; and (6) a coloured float, which has three colours for monitoring the movement of the irrigation water. The second part comprises a flow regulator, and is connected to a main water source and to the lateral hole in the device base.
