Abstract

A method for representing text on a reproduction display (19), using the following steps during the capture of the text: creating or conserving a text window (16) containing text with characters that are separated from one another by separating characters, identifying each word contained in the text window by means of the separating characters and storing the words as a word bitmap image in a composite bitmap image, storing a source description file comprising, for each word bitmap, a word ID used to reference each word in the composite bitmap image, an associated frame size and its position in the composite bitmap image, the access to each word bitmap being controlled via the word ID, creating a target description file which contains the word ID and the target position of each word bitmap in the reproduction window, so that the text is reproduced in the reproduction window in exactly the same way as in the text window, and to a method for representing text on a reproduction display. The method also uses a sequence of the following steps during the reproduction of the text in a reproduction window (18): using the data from the source description file and the target description file, determining the size of the reproduction window, scaling and displaying the reproduction bitmap.
