Abstract

The plumbing accessory is for facilitating the unblocking of pipe through an inspection opening of a T piece of pipe connector using a high pressure fluid feed pipe, the plumbing accessory comprising of a body configured for a snug insertion into the inspection hatch. The body defining an internal passage configured for receiving a flued feed pipe through it, the internal passage being configured to present an internal surface with out sharp edges to thereby prevent abrasion of the external surface of the fluid feed pipe.

Description

Description
Title of invention, plumbing accessory
The plumbing accessory is an insert that is placed into an opening in a pipe to facilitate the cleaning of the pipe with a high pressure flued feed hose or a mechanical spring. The insert bypasses edges and surfaces in the opening that may impede the movement of hoses and springs designed for cleaning such pipe. The plumbing accessory facilitates movement with a smooth rounded internal surface designed to provide clear axes to the pipe and avoid damage to the hose, spring and pipe opening itself. The plumbing accessory is designed to fit into such openings with a snug fit. The invention is not limited to this particular field of use and may facilitate objects entering and exiting openings.

Claims

Claims

1 ) A plumbing accessory for facilitating the unblocking of a pipe through an inspection hatch of a T piece pipe connector using a high pressure fluid feed pipe, the plumbing accessory comprising: a) a body configured for snug insertion into said inspection hatch; b) the body defining an internal passage configured for receiving a fluid feed pipe through it, the internal passage being configured to present an internal surface without sharp edges to thereby prevent abrasion of the external surface of the fluid feed pipe.
2) A plumbing accessory as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the body defines an outer surface configured for insertion into said inspection hatch.
3) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the shape of the outer surface of the body is substantially cylindrical.
4) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the shape of the outer surface of the body is substantially frustoconical.
5) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the outer surface of the body defines a staggered edge.
6) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein in cross- section the shape of the body substantially defines a pair of circle segments.
7) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the length of the body is dimensioned to extend into the inspection hatch past the internal corners of the T piece in operation.
8) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the length of the body is dimensioned to extend into the inspection hatch to substantially align with the internal corners of the T piece in operation.
9) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the plumbing accessory further comprises a holding formation configured for holding the body in position in an inspection hatch in operation.
10) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the securing formation comprises a collar formation and a securing formation.
1 1 ) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the collar formation is substantially circular. 12) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the collar formation is a broken circular formation defining two adjacent ends.
13) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the securing formations configured for securing the adjacent ends of the collar formation together.
14) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the securing formations configured for reducing the diameter of the collar formation.
15) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the body defines a slot extending substantially around its circumference on an outer surface.
16) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the collar formation is configured for extending substantially around the circumference of the body to engage with the body.
17) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the collar formation is configured for engaging with the slot to secure the body in place relative to the T piece pipe connector.
18) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the body comprises ventilation passages configured for facilitating the venting of gas from the pipe being unblocked.
19) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the ventilation passages are configured to extend between an inlet located within an internal cavity in the T piece connector in operation, and an outlet to the environment.
20) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the ventilation passages extend from an upper surface of the body to a lower surface of the body.
21 ) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the narrowest portion of the internal passage is dimensioned to be slightly larger than the largest dimensions of the fluid feed pipe.
22) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the fluid feed pipe comprises a connector and nozzle, and the narrowest portion of the internal passage is dimensioned to be slightly larger than one or more selected from the connector and nozzle.
23) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the internal passage is configured for snugly receiving one or more selected from the connector, the nozzle and the fluid feed pipe.
24) A plumbing accessory as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the plumbing accessory further comprises connector formations configured for connecting pipes to the outlet of the ventilation passages to guide fluids passing through the ventilation passages. accessory comprises a series of ribs, the ribs being configured for being snugly received within the inspection hatch of the T piece pipe connector in operation.
