- the Applicant unexpectedly and surprisingly found that the headgear according to this disclosure had use in the treatment and/or prevention of epilepsy by providing a blood shunt to intracranial tissues.
- the Applicant has surprisingly found that use of the headgear 10 in epilepsy sufferers successfully treats and/prevents the symptoms of epilepsy, including for example treating and/or preventing epileptic attack or seizure. Furthermore, the Applicant has found that when an epilepsy sufferer uses the headgear 10 at the onset of aura (a known warning sign of a possible epileptic attack or seizure), the attack or seizure typically does not occur. Use of the headgear 10 in epilepsy sufferers has significantly improved their day to day lives and reduced or even stopped systems associated with epilepsy.

Abstract
La présente invention concerne un couvre-chef gonflable, en particulier un couvre-chef gonflable destiné à être utilisé dans la prévention et/ou le traitement de l'épilepsie, et s'étend à un procédé de prévention et/ou de traitement de l'épilepsie. Le couvre-chef gonflable comprend un bandeau allongé gonflable prévu pour constituer un agencement gonflable annulaire, au moins une majeure partie de l'agencement gonflable annulaire étant gonflable d'un seul tenant. L'agencement gonflable annulaire définit un diamètre de dimension réglable pour s'ajuster fermement autour de têtes humaines de différentes dimensions. Le couvre-chef est destiné à être positionné autour de la tête d'un humain souffrant d'épilepsie, de telle façon que le gonflage du couvre-chef exerce une force contre le système vasculaire extra-crânien de la tête, ce qui entraîne une constriction dudit système vasculaire extra-crânien, ce qui a pour effet de rediriger le sang vers un tissu intracrânien et, par voie de conséquence, de prévenir et/ou de traiter l'épilepsie.
