Abstract

The disclosure relates to a safety mask (100) comprising: a head band (110) for supporting the safety mask (100) on the head of a user; and a shield (120) rotatably coupled to the head band (110) for allowing the shield (120) to be raised up from the front of the face of the user and lowered down to the front of the face of the user, when the safety mask (100) is worn by the user; wherein the safety mask (100) comprises a first part (130) connected unrotatably to the head band (110); the safety mask (100) comprises a second part (140) arranged rotatably in relation to the first part (130) about a rotation axis (A); the first part (130) is connected to the shield (120) by a connecting means (150) for allowing rotation of the shield (120) in relation to the first part (130) about the rotation axis (A); the second part (140) is connected to the shield (120) by the connecting means (150) for allowing rotation of the shield (120) in relation to the second part (140) about the rotation axis (A); the safety mask (100) comprises a rotation limiting means (160) for limiting the rotation angle of the second part (140) in relation to the first part (130) about the rotation axis (A); and the safety mask (100) comprises angle adjustment means (170) for adjusting the rotation angle of the shield (120) in relation to the second part (140).

Description

SAFETY MASK
FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
The present disclosure relates to safety equipment, and particularly to a safety mask.
BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE
Safety masks are used for example when the user wants to protect from a certain health hazard during working. Examples of this kind of tasks include grinding and welding, where glowing hot particles would otherwise cause injures, if no mask was used.
Traditional safety mask comprises a head band and a shield, which may be rotatably connected to the head band. The shield can be raised up, when the shield is temporarily not needed, and lowered down, when the user wants to protect from a hazardous work.
A problem with the traditional safety mask is that there may be reflections etc. in the shield hindering the vision of the user and thus disturbing the work.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DISCLOSURE
An object of the present disclosure is to provide a safety mask so as to overcome the above problems.
The objects of the disclosure are achieved by a safety mask which is characterized by what is stated in the independent claims. The preferred embodiments of the disclosure are disclosed in the dependent claims.
The disclosure is based on the idea of providing a safety mask comprising
a head band for supporting the safety mask on the head of a user;
a shield rotatably coupled to the head band for allowing the shield to be raised up from the front of the face of the user and lowered down to the front of the face of the user, when the safety mask is worn by the user;
a first part connected unrotatably to the head band;
a second part arranged rotatably in relation to the first part about a rotation axis;
a rotation limiting means for limiting the rotation angle of the second part in relation to the first part about the rotation axis; and
a angle adjustment means for adjusting the rotation angle of the shield in relation to the second part;
wherein the first part is connected to the shield by a connecting means for allowing rotation of the shield in relation to the first part about the rotation axis; and
the second part is connected to the shield by the connecting means for allowing rotation of the shield in relation to the second part about the rotation axis.
An advantage of the safety mask of the disclosure is that it allows adjustment of the angle of the shield for reducing disturbing reflections etc. Also, in some tasks, such as in welding when reaching up or down the welder may want to have more protection for his/her chest from splatter or heat. The mask of the current disclosure allows bringing the mask temporarily closer to the chest of the user. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Figure 2 is a partial enlargement of Figure 1 . DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DISCLOSURE
The disclosure relates to a safety mask 100. For example the safety mask 100 is a welding mask. The safety mask 100 comprises a head band 1 10 for supporting the safety mask 100 on the head of a user. In other words the head band 1 10 is arranged to be worn around the head of the user.
The safety mask 100 comprises a shield 120. The shield 120 is rotatably coupled to the head band 1 10 for allowing the shield 120 to be raised up from the front of the face of the user and lowered down to the front of the face of the user, when the safety mask 100 is worn by the user. In other words the shield 120 can be rotated in relation to the head band 1 10 so that it is raised up from the front of the face of the user and lowered down to the front of the face of the user, when the safety mask 100 is worn by the user.
The safety mask 100 comprises a first part 130 connected unrotatably to the head band 1 10. According to an embodiment the first part 130 is fixed to the head band 1 10. For example the first part 130 is integral part of the head band 1 10. According to an alternative embodiment the first part 130 is arranged movably to the head band 1 10. For example, the first part 130 comprises an arm 132 for connecting the first part 130 to the head band 1 10 and a first disc shaped part 133. The safety mask 100 comprises a second part 140 arranged rotatably in relation to the first part 130 about a rotation axis A. For example the second part 140 comprises a second disc shaped part 142.
The first part 130 is connected to the shield 120 by a connecting means 150 for allowing rotation of the shield 120 in relation to the first part 130 about the rotation axis A. The second part 140 is connected to the shield 120 by the connecting means 150 for allowing rotation of the shield 120 in relation to the second part 140 about the rotation axis A. Preferably the connecting means 150 define the rotation axis A. According to an embodiment the connecting means 150 comprises a pin 151 arranged in connection with the shield 120. In this case the pin 151 defines the rotation axis A. Preferably the pin 151 is attached to the shield 120.
According to an embodiment the first part 130 comprises a first circular hole 131 and the second part 140 comprises a second circular hole 141 , wherein the pin 151 is arranged through the first circular hole 131 and the second circular hole 141 . Preferably the first circular hole 131 is arranged to the first disc shaped part 133 and the second circular hole 141 is arranged to the second disc shaped part 142. According to an embodiment the first part 130, the second part 140 and the shield 120 are held together by the pin 151 .
The safety mask 100 comprises a rotation limiting means 160 for limiting the rotation angle of the second part 140 in relation to the first part 130 about the rotation axis A. In other words the rotation limiting means 160 define an angle of allowed rotation of the second part 140 in relation to the first part 130 about the rotation axis A. The purpose of the rotation limiting means 160 is to prevent the shield from rotating too low in front of the face of the user, and correspondingly to prevent the shield from rotating too far to the back of the head of the user. For example the rotation limiting means is arranged at the first part 130 and the second part 140. For example the rotation limiting means 160 comprise a protrusion
161 arranged to the second part disc shaped part 142 at a distance from the second circular hole 141 and a groove 162 having an arc shape arranged to the first disc shaped part 133 for receiving the protrusion 161 . The centre point of the arc shape of the groove
162 is aligned with the rotation axis A.
According to an embodiment the rotation limiting means 160 define extreme rotation angles of the second part 140 in relation to the first part 130 about the rotation axis A. The first part 130 and the second part 140 are arranged to snap fasten to each other at positions of the extreme rotation angles of the second part 140 in relation to the first part 130 about the rotation axis A for inhibiting rotation of the second part 140 in relation to the first part 130 about the rotation axis A. The snap fastening of the first part 130 and the second part 140 at the positions of the extreme rotation angles locks the shield 120 to the desired position either in front of the face of the user or over the head of the user, so that a threshold force is required to release the locking. For example the snap fastening is realised by arranging narrow parts in the groove 162 near the ends of the groove 162. Instead of snap fastening, the first part 130 and the second part 140 could be arranged to friction lock for inhibiting rotation of the first part 130 in relation to the second part 140 about the rotation axis A.
The safety mask 100 comprises an angle adjustment means 170 for adjusting the rotation angle of the shield 120 in relation to the second part 140 about the rotation axis A. The angle adjustment means 170 allows fine adjustment of the angle of the shield 120 in relation to the head band 1 10 and thus to the face of the user. The angle adjustment means 170 is arranged to control the rotation of the shield 120 in relation to the second part 140 about the rotation axis A so that preferably the shield 120 can be rotated in relation to the second part 140 only by the angle adjustment means 170. The angle adjustment means 170 is arranged to allow continuous adjustment of the rotation angle of the shield 120, i.e. there are no predetermined steps for the rotation angle of the shield 120. According to an embodiment the angle adjustment means 170 comprises a worm drive arrangement comprising a worm gear and a worm screw meshing with each other. The worm drive arrangement comprises a geared part 171 acting as the worm gear arranged at the second part 140 and a spiral gear 172 acting as the worm screw connected to the shield 120.
Preferably the geared part 171 is attached to the second disc shaped part 142. The spiral gear 172 is connected rotatably to the shield 120. The worm gear arrangement is arranged to rotate the shield 120 in relation to the second part 140 when the spiral gear 172 is rotated. In other words the spiral gear 172 connected to the shield 120 is arranged to move in relation to the geared part 171 connected to the second part 140, resulting in rotation of the shield 120 in relation to the second part 140 about the rotation axis A. This in turn results in change in the orientation of the angle of allowed rotation. For example, if the user has rotated the shield 120 to all the way to the front, so that the shield 120 in front of the face of the user and the rotation angle of the shield 120 about the rotation axis A is at the extreme end allowed by the rotation limiting means 160, the spiral gear 172 can be used for adjusting the angle of the shield 120 in front of the face of the user by rotating the spiral gear 172. A safety mask 100 provided with the angle adjustment means 170 as described above allows the user to adjust of the rotation angle of the shield 120 while still wearing the safety mask 100, i.e. without removing it first.

Claims

A safety mask (100) comprising
a head band (1 10) for supporting the safety mask (100) on the head of a user;
a shield (120) rotatably coupled to the head band (1 10) for allowing the shield (120) to be raised up from the front of the face of the user and lowered down to the front of the face of the user, when the safety mask (100) is worn by the user;
a first part (130) connected unrotatably to the head band (1 10); and
a second part (140) arranged rotatably in relation to the first part (130) about a rotation axis (A) ;
wherein
the first part (130) is connected to the shield (120) by a connecting means (150) for allowing rotation of the shield (120) in relation to the first part (130) about the rotation axis (A) ;
the second part (140) is connected to the shield (120) by the connecting means (150) for allowing rotation of the shield (120) in relation to the second part (140) about the rotation axis (A); and
the safety mask (100) comprises a rotation limiting means (160) for limiting the rotation angle of the second part (140) in relation to the first part (130) about the rotation axis (A) ;
characterized in that
the safety mask (100) comprises an angle adjustment means (170) for adjusting the rotation angle of the shield (120) continuously in relation to the second part (140).
A safety mask (100) according to claim 1 , characterized in that the connecting means (150) comprises a pin (151 ) arranged in connection with the shield (120).
A safety mask (100) according to claim 2, characterized in that the first part (130) comprises a first circular hole (131 ) and the second part (140) comprises a second circular hole (141 ), wherein the pin (151 ) is arranged through the first circular hole (131 ) and the second circular hole (141 ).
4. A safety mask (100) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the angle adjustment means (170) comprises a worm drive arrangement comprising a worm gear and a worm screw meshing with each other,
wherein
the worm drive arrangement comprises a geared part (171 ) acting as the worm gear arranged at the second part (140) and a spiral gear (172) acting as the worm screw connected to the shield (120) ; and
the worm gear arrangement is arranged to rotate the shield (120) in relation to the second part (140) when the spiral gear (172) is rotated.

A safety mask (100) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the rotation limiting means (160) define extreme rotation angles of the second part (140) in relation to the first part (130) about the rotation axis (A), wherein the first part (130) and the second part (140) are arranged to snap fasten to each other at positions of the extreme rotation angles of the second part (140) in relation to the first part (130) about the rotation axis (A) for inhibiting rotation of the second part (140) in relation to the first part (130) about the rotation axis (A).
