This passenger seat airbag 1 is obtained by sewing a top panel 20 and a bottom panel 30 to a main panel 10 as shown in FIGS.
The main panel 10 has a substantially trapezoidal shape having an upper side 11, a left side 12, a right side 13, and a lower side 14. A central portion 11a in the left-right direction of the upper side 11 extends linearly in the left-right direction. L 11 in FIG. 2 indicates the length of the linear portion of the central portion 11a.
The left end side portion 11b and the right end side portion 11c on the upper side are slightly inclined so as to become lower as the distance from the center portion 11a increases. The total length of the lower side 14 in the left-right direction is smaller than the total length of the upper side 11 in the left-right direction. The lower side 14 extends linearly in the left-right direction except for the left and right ends. L 14 in FIG. 2 indicates the length of the linear portion.
The left side 12 and the right side 13 are closer to each other toward the lower side 14 side. The left side 12 and the right side 13 are curved so that the middle part in the longitudinal direction enters the center side in the left-right direction of the main panel 10.
The top panel 20 is a substantially trapezoidal panel having a rear side 21, a left side 22, a right side 23, and a front side 24. The interval between the left side 22 and the right side 23 gradually increases toward the rear side 21. In this embodiment, the intersection of the left side 22 and the right side 23 and the rear side 21 is rounded.
The rear side 21 extends linearly in the left-right direction except for the rounded left and right ends. L 21 in FIG. 2 indicates the length of the linear portion.
The front side 24 extends linearly in the left-right direction.
The bottom panel 30 is a substantially trapezoidal panel having a rear side 31, a left side 32, a right side 33, and a front side 34. The interval between the left side 32 and the right side 33 gradually increases toward the rear side 31 side. In this embodiment, the intersection of the left side 32 and the right side 33 and the rear side 31 is rounded.
The rear side 31 extends linearly in the left-right direction except for the rounded left and right ends. L 31 in FIG. 2 indicates the length of the linear portion.
The front side 34 extends linearly in the left-right direction.
An inflator opening 35 is provided on the front side of the bottom panel 30. Around the inflator opening 35, a plurality of (four in this embodiment) small holes 36 are provided for inserting the inflator mounting bolts.
The left side 22, the rear side 21 and the right side 23 of the top panel 20 are sewn on the upper side 11 of the main panel 10. The rear side 21 is sewn to the central portion 11a of the upper side 11, the left side 22 is sewn to the left end side portion 11b, and the right side 23 is sewn to the right end side portion 11c.
The rear side 31 of the bottom panel 30 is sewn to the lower side 14 of the main panel 10, the left side 32 of the bottom panel 30 is sewn to the left side 12, and the right side 33 of the bottom panel 30 is sewn to the left side 13.
The main panel 10 constitutes an occupant-facing surface 1 f and left and right side surfaces 1 s of the airbag 1, the top panel 20 constitutes the upper surface of the airbag 1, and the bottom panel 30 constitutes the lower surface of the airbag 1. At the front edge of the airbag 1, the main panel 10 does not exist, and the front side 24 of the top panel 20 and the front side 34 of the bottom panel 30 are sewn.
Reference numerals 10S, 20S, and 30S in FIG. 2 indicate stitching planned lines between the panels 10, 20, and 30.
After the panels 10, 20, and 30 are sewn together as described above, the airbag 1 is turned upside down through the inflator opening 35, so that the seam allowance is arranged in the airbag 1 so that the airbag 1 is in the form of a product. And
The airbag 1 is attached with an inflator, folded, installed in a box-like case 5 (FIG. 3), and attached to the case 5 with the inflator mounting bolt. The instrument panel 2 is provided with a lid (not shown) so as to cover the folded body of the airbag 1. The folded airbag 1, inflator, and case 5 constitute a passenger seat airbag device. This lid may be provided as a part of the instrument panel 2 or may be provided as a lid-like member separate from the instrument panel 2. In the latter case, the lid is connected to the case 5.
When the inflator is activated, the airbag 1 pushes open the lid and deploys between the instrument panel 2 and the windshield 3 in front of the passenger on the passenger seat as shown in FIG. 3 to restrain the passenger.
The airbag 1 is provided with the linear portions of the lengths L 11 , L 14 , L 21 , and L 31 on the panels 10, 20, and 30. As shown in FIGS. 1 a, 1 b, and 3, 1 f has a substantially planar shape that is close to a plane in the vertical and horizontal directions. The passenger-facing surface 1f is substantially rectangular in the rear view of the passenger seat airbag 1. For this reason, in the airbag 1, the occupant has a left-side edge or a right-side edge of the occupant-facing surface 1 f when the vehicle obliquely strikes (a collision mode in which an impact is applied obliquely to the vehicle, including offset collision). Accepted by the department. Therefore, it is possible to restrain the occupant at the time of the oblique collision without increasing the volume of the airbag 1.
Since the passenger airbag 1 is inflated so that the rear view of the passenger-facing surface 1f is substantially square, the airbag inflated between the instrument panel 2 and the windshield 3 is only at the center in the left-right direction on the bottom. Instead, the left side and the right side of the bottom surface are also supported by the instrument panel 2. Thereby, the posture of the passenger seat airbag 1 inflated between the instrument panel 2 and the windshield 3 becomes more stable.
The passenger seat airbag 1 shown in FIGS. 1a to 3 is symmetrical, and all the panels 10, 20, and 30 are symmetrical. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and the left or right side of the occupant facing surface 1f. However, it may be configured to project to the side of FIG.
The passenger seat airbags 1A and 1B shown in FIGS. 4, 5 and 6 show an example of this.
4 and 5 are a perspective view and a panel configuration diagram of the passenger seat airbag 1A, similarly to FIGS. 1a and 2. FIG.
The passenger seat airbag 1A is provided with an overhanging portion 7 projecting leftward on the passenger side. The overhang portion 7 extends from the upper part to the lower part of the passenger seat airbag 1A.
As shown in FIG. 5, the top panel 20A and the bottom panel 30A constituting the passenger seat airbag 1A are provided with protrusions 27 and 37 so that the left sides 22 and 32 protrude to the left in the vicinity of the rear sides 21 and 31. It has been.
In the main panel 10A, the left half side of the linear central portion 11a is longer than the length in FIG. That is, in FIG. 5, the length L 11 of the linear central portion 11a is longer by Q than the case of FIG.
In the passenger seat airbag 1A, the overhanging portion 7 is inflated between the steering or the left A-pillar and the occupant when the left-side obliquely projects. Since the volume of the overhang portion 7 is smaller than the entire volume of the passenger airbag 1A, the passenger airbag 1A is quickly inflated without increasing or slightly increasing the inflator output.
4 and 5 are the same as those of the passenger seat airbag 1 shown in FIGS. 1a, 1b, and 2, and the same reference numerals denote the same parts.
The passenger seat airbag 1B of FIG. 6a is configured such that the occupant facing surface 1f projects laterally by attaching the sub-chamber 40 to the bag body 1 ′ having the same shape as the passenger seat airbag 1 of FIGS. The passenger seat airbag 1B is shown. 6a is a perspective view of the passenger seat airbag 1B, FIG. 6b is a perspective view of the bag body 1 'and the sub-chamber 40 separated from each other, and FIG. 6c is a sectional view taken along the line CC of FIG. 6a.
The bag body 1 ′ is provided with an opening 1 h at the rear side of the left side portion of the passenger seat airbag 1, and the other configuration is the same as that of the passenger seat airbag 1. This opening 1 h is provided in the main panel 10.
The sub-chamber 40 has an outer curved surface 41, an inner curved surface 42, an upper end surface 43 and a lower end surface 44. An opening 45 is provided in the inner curved surface 42. The sub-chamber 40 is manufactured by sewing a panel, and the peripheral edge portion of the inner curved surface 42 is sewn to the bag body 1 '. Moreover, the opening 1h and the opening 45 are the same size, and those peripheral parts are sewn together.
The openings 1h and 45 are circular, but may be other shapes such as an ellipse. Two or more openings 1h and 45 may be provided. Other configurations of the passenger seat airbag 1B are the same as those of the passenger seat airbag 1, and the same reference numerals denote the same parts.
When the passenger seat airbag 1B is inflated, the bag body 1 'is first inflated, and then the gas flows into the subchamber 40 through the openings 1h and 45, so that the subchamber 40 is inflated. The subchamber 40 expands between the occupant and the steering or left A pillar. Since the volume of the sub-chamber 40 is smaller than that of the bag body 1 ', the passenger seat airbag 1B is quickly inflated without increasing the output of the inflator at all or almost.
In the passenger seat airbag 1B, a single panel (main panel 10) is formed from the occupant facing surface 1f to the bag side portion. Therefore, the stitching portions in the vertical direction are formed on the left side and the right side of the occupant facing surface 1f. And the degree of freedom of arrangement of the sub-chamber 40 is high.
4 to 6c, the overhanging portion is arranged on the left side of the occupant facing surface 1f, but may be arranged on the right side. Moreover, you may provide an overhang | projection part in both the left side and the right side.
7 and 8 show a passenger seat airbag 1C provided with a through hole in order to reduce the volume of the airbag. 7 is a perspective view similar to FIG. 1a, and FIG. 8 is a side view similar to FIG.
The top panel 20 constituting the passenger seat airbag 1C is provided with an opening 28, the bottom panel 30 is provided with an opening 38, and the cylindrical panel 8 is provided so as to connect the openings 28 and 38. The upper end of the cylindrical panel 8 is sewn to the peripheral edge of the opening 28, and the lower end of the cylindrical panel 8 is sewn to the peripheral edge of the opening 38. The tubular panel 8 and the openings 28 and 38 form a through-hole penetrating the passenger seat airbag 1C vertically.
Other configurations of the passenger seat airbag 1C are the same as those of the passenger seat airbag 1, and the same reference numerals denote the same parts.
This passenger seat airbag 1C has a smaller internal volume than the passenger seat airbag 1 due to the provision of through holes. Therefore, even if the inflator output is reduced, the expansion is completed quickly.
Since the tubular panel 8 connects the top panel 20 and the bottom panel 30, the passenger seat airbag 1 </ b> C is higher than the passenger seat airbag 1 in the free inflation completed state, and the lowest point. The distance from the point is small. For this reason, in the rear view of the passenger seat airbag 1 </ b> C, the upper side and the lower side have an inflated complete shape extending linearly in the left-right direction.
The through hole may be provided so as to penetrate the passenger seat airbag in the left-right direction. Two or more through holes may be provided.
The above embodiment is an example of the present invention, and the present invention may be other than illustrated. For example, in the above-described embodiment, the main panels 10 and 10A are configured by a single panel that is continuous from the left end side to the right end side, but two or more panels are joined together by stitching or the like to form the main panel. May be. Specifically, a main panel in which a left half panel and a right half panel having a shape obtained by dividing the main panel at the center may be used.
In the present invention, a tether for regulating the shape of the inflated state of the passenger airbag may be provided.
