Description
A compact retractable connectors charger for mobile devices BACKGROUND
1. Field of the Invention
This invention relates to power backup units for mobile communication, computing devices and similar devices. Particularly, the invention relates to portable battery chargers for use with mobile communication devices.
2. Description of Related Art
With the advancement of technology, and day by day change in user's lifestyle, smart electronic devices such as a smart phone, a porttable music player like an iPod or an MP3 player, a tablet, a portable gaming unit, a camera, and other electronic products have been widely accepted in the market. These smart devices are gradually replacing the conventional electronic devices. For example, the conventional cellular mobile phones are being replaced by smart phones, conventional digital cameras with high quality smart cameras, and the like. These smart devices are equipped with larger screenwith higher resolutions and one or more processors which consume more power than conventional electronic devices wherein, arises the problem of drainage of power.
As most of these devices work on flat cellular battery with limited power retention, hence, these smart devices shall become non functional after a short time. To overcome this deficiency, there is a need for a cportable mobile phone charger, that can charge or power the mobile phone anywhere and at anytime without the need of having to scramble for electrical out lets, having to deal with wires, or caught by flat batteries of mobile batteries. Further, due to different types of mobile phones provided by different mobile phone companies, as well as wide range of other battery-powered electronic devices, there is also a long felt need for a portabkgim D|b l¾i^hen¾fhai(gej that can universally charge or power all types of mobile

Another element of a modern day power backup unit is the presence of wires for the various battery chargers which makes it cumbersome to carry and operate different chargers for different gadgets PRIOR ART
US 8,465,306 B2 discloses a power supplying apparatus, comprising of two cabinets, one of which houses circuits which converts an alternative-current input into a direct-current output and the second cabinet houses circuit which converts the direct-current output into another direct-current output.
US 2013/0334883 discloses a method that involves providing power from a battery to an external device using a first circuit; and receiving power from a first power source to provide power to the battery using a second circuit while providing power to the external device.
US 8,343,670 B2 discloses a rechargeable battery pack which is suitable for both internal and external charging/ output operations.
US 7,777,449 B2 discloses a portable direct current power supply that can be used to supply electric current to a handheld electronic device, such as a cellular phone, which utilizes a battery that has a unique size and shape.
In the disclosed prior arts, there are complete absence of portable battery chargers that completely eliminates the need of wires. In case, almost similar devices are available, those are one-piece operable battery chargers, without wires and covers needed indispensably for protecting the bare connectors or like-wise parts. Such an arrangement reduces the risk of either loosing the covers in the long run and/or damaging the connectors later, if separate covers are provided or absolutely no covers at all. Furthermore, available similar devices having wires (either detachable or built-in)are susceptible to short and long term glitches arising during charging of the battery or mobile devices on account of the positioning of the device in a dangling non-stable position. Such a position entails extreme level of dis-comfortability in the movement of the device in the short
run besides, high chances of tearing of the wires and dysfunctionality of the charger in the long run.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
It is an object of the present invention to rectify the disadvantages in the above-described related art.
It is another object of the prevent invention to provide a cportable power backup unit that conveniently provides battery-based power to a mobile communication and computing device.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a portable power backup unit that conveniently charges any mobile and /or similar devices, like a smart camera, i-pods, tablets, etc.
A further object of the present invention is to provide for a portable power backup/ battery charger without wires. A still further object of the present invention is to provide a portable power backup/battery charger without having any coverings or caps for the connectors, yet protecting them from damage.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a portable backup/battery charger, which can itself be charged directly via electric power or even by other gadgets like a laptop.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a battery charger for mobile devices, where the mobile devices do not dangle from the USB connector of the battery charger. One example for achieving the above object is to provide a compact USB retractable charger for mobile devices, having a retractable input connector and an output connector, without having the requirement of any cables or cords for charging either the mobile devices or the battery of the charger itself and without having any removable covers or caps for protecting the output and input connectors.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
A compact "retractable connectors charger" (100) for mobile devices, comprises a housing (101), a battery (13), a PCBA (14), a slider switch for input connector (3), a slider switch for output connector (12). The housing (101) of the battery charger (100), includes a top (1) and a bottom (2) housing, a front panel (15) and a rear panel (16).
Through front panel (15), the input connector (5) is extended for use during charging of the battery (13). The top housing (1) has an opening on its surface, for housing the slide switch (3) for input connector. This slide switch is connected with a sleeve (4), wherein one end of the sleeve (4) incorporates the input connector (5) and the other end incorporates the slide switch (3) for sliding purpose.
At the junction of the top (1) and bottom (2) housing; a groove is formed, where the output connector for iPhone, micro USB or another connector(7) sits when not in use. The unit of output connector (7) comprises of an output hinge (6) and a sleeve for output port (8) wherein the output hinge (6) is connected with the sleeve for output connector (8) which in turn is connected with the input connector(7). The bottom housing (2) has an opening on its surface for incorporation of the slide switch (12) for output connector for the operation of micro USB, iPhone or other connector (7).
The unit of micro USB, iPhone or other connectors (7) comprising of output hinge (6) and a sleeve for output connector (8), together are held in place and are operated by 3 other components namely the output sleeve part (9), the positioning part for output sleeve (10) and the geared part for output sleeve (11).
The output sleeve part (9) integrates with the sleeve for output connector (8) of the micro USB connector (7). The component (10) of figure (1) which is the positioning part of the
output sleeve, secures the position of the output sleeve part (9) thereby holding the output connector fixed in its position.
The output connector (7) when not in use remains embedded in the groove of the housing and when required for use, is extended at 90degrees to be used for charging. This operation is possible due to the slider mechanism which has been incorporated with the battery charger which includes a slider switch (12), which is geared by the component (1 1) integrated with the output hinge (6).
