Definitions
- the thread to be scheduled for execution has its different tasks or jobs classified into different types depending upon the time unit required for its execution.
- the scheduler here maintains a table of entries consisting of thread identifier as the key and the value consists of all the information of the corresponding thread including the pointer to the job type for the current cycle of scheduling, depending upon which the quantum of time is decided by the scheduler to allocate to the thread to execute its job for the current cycle of scheduling. Additionally the thread maintains the job type for the current task or job and updates the job type for the new task on completion of the current task and before beginning the new task.
- Major advantage of this technique is that we can tune the performance of the thread according to its different kind of workloads.

Abstract
In this invention the thread to be scheduled for execution has its different tasks or jobs classified into different types depending upon the time unit required for their execution and correspondingly the scheduler allocates a quantum of time to the thread for its execution in current and subsequent cycles of scheduling depending upon the job type of the task the thread is executing.
Description
Weighted Job Scheduler
In this invention, the thread to be scheduled for execution has its different tasks or jobs classified into different types depending upon the time unit required for its execution. The scheduler here maintains a table of entries consisting of thread identifier as the key and the value consists of all the information of the corresponding thread including the pointer to the job type for the current cycle of scheduling, depending upon which the quantum of time is decided by the scheduler to allocate to the thread to execute its job for the current cycle of scheduling. Additionally the thread maintains the job type for the current task or job and updates the job type for the new task on completion of the current task and before beginning the new task. Major advantage of this technique is that we can tune the performance of the thread according to its different kind of workloads.
Claims
Following is the claim for this invention: -
1> The novel technique by which we decide the quantum of time for a thread which is to be scheduled for execution by the scheduler in a cycle of scheduling.
