Description
DESCRIPTION
A TONGUE DEPRESSOR ONE END OF WHICH IS COATED WITH
SUGAR
Technical Field
This invention, is related to a tongue depressor having one end coated with a sweetener such as sugar used in intraoral examination. The invention is particularly related to a tongue depressor having one end coated with a sweetener such as sugar wherein the depressor has locking openings for the sugar to be locked into the tongue depressor.
Prior Art
Nowadays, tongue depressors are frequently used in intraoral examinations. These tongue depressors which are usually produced from wood or plastic leave an undesirable taste in the mouth. Moreover they are disliked by children.
In order to eliminate these problems, applications in which the ends of said tongue depressors are coated with sweeteners such as sugar is known from the prior art.
The European Patent document numbered EP0920834 within the known state of the art, describes a tongue depressor where one end of the depressor is sheathed with a sweetener with aroma. The Japanese Patent document numbered JP 2002 2727 46 within the state of the art describes a tongue depressor where one end is coated with a sweetener and the other end is made of wood.
Usually the fixing of the sugar onto the tongue depressor is carried out by applying the sugar onto the tongue depressor in dough consistency and then by hardening this sugar in a soaking pit. However problems such as the sugar falling
off or breaking off from the tongue depressor are faced following such an application.
In order to eliminate this problem a solution has been described in the international patent document numbered WO2014129986. The tongue depressor mentioned in this document comprises a body end at the end part of the depressor, a hole is provided at the body end and sugar is filled into this hole, therefore locking the sugar into the tongue depressor.
The aim and brief description of the Invention The aim of the invention is to provide a tongue depressor having one end coated with a sweetening agent such as sugar, where the sugar is prevented from being separated from the body of the depressor.
Another aim of the invention is to provide a tongue depressor comprising locking openings which prevents the separate of the sugar after it has been solidified.
The tongue depressor provided in order reach the aims of the present invention comprises locking openings which extend by widening towards the inner section of the body, wherein said locking opening is located at the end of the body of the depressor. Sugar in the consistency of dough is filled inside the locking opening and the sugar is cooled and frozen inside this locking opening. As the volume and width of the sugar that has been solidified inside the locking opening is larger than the section starting from the external side of the body, it is impossible for sugar to fall back out from this external edge of the body.
Detailed Description of the Invention
The tongue depressor provided in order to reach the aims of the invention has been illustrated in the figures.
According to the Figures;
Figure-1 Is the top view of an embodiment of the tongue depressor.
Figure-2 Is the perspective view of an embodiment of the tongue depressor. Figure-3 Is the perspective view of an embodiment of the tongue depressor where the bottom and top parts of the locking opening is enclosed with the wall of the body.
Figure-4 Is the A-A section view of an embodiment of the tongue depressor, where the bottom and top parts of the locking opening is closed off by means of the wall of the body.
Figure-5 Is the perspective view of the tongue depressor comprising an auricle channel on the inner surface of the auricle.
Figure-6 Is the B-B section view of the embodiment of the tongue depressor comprising an auricle channel on the inner surface of the auricle.
The parts forming the tongue depressor of the present invention have been numbered as follows, in the attached figures:
1. Tongue depressor
2. Body
3. Auricle
4. Body end
5. Auricle inner surface
6. Auricle channel
7. Body wall
8. Inner wall of the body
9. Locking opening
10. Outer wall of the Body
The tongue depressor (1) subject to the invention comprises a locking opening (9) located at the end of the body (2) that is to be coated with sugar and which widens and extends towards the inner section of the body (2). The tongue depressor (1) subject to the invention comprises auricles (3) located opposite each other at the end of the body (2) to be coated with sugar, which form the edges of the locking opening (9).
The tongue depressor (1) subject to the invention comprises a body wall (7) which covers the bottom and top part of the locking opening (9).
The tongue depressor (1) subject to the invention comprises auricle channels (6) which recess on the inner surfaces of the auricles (5). The tongue depressor (1) subject to the invention comprises a body end fixed onto the inner wall (8) of the body.
The tongue depressor (1) subject to the invention comprises two auricles (3) at the end of the body (2) that is to be coated with sugar. The auricle inner surfaces (5) of these auricles (3) extend towards the edges of the body (2) into the body starting from the outer wall (10) of the body.
Following this the inner surfaces (5) of the auricles is coupled with the inner wall (8) of the body.
By means of this structure of the auricles (3), a locking opening (9) is formed which widens and extends into the body (2).
In the embodiment where the body end (4) is provided, the two locking openings (9) are formed between the body end (4) and the inner surfaces (5) of the auricles, at both sides of the body end (4).
Due to the locking opening (9) widening and extending into the body (2), the part of the locking opening (9) at the end section of the body (2) is narrower and the width of the locking opening (9) widens as it extends into the body (2).
According to an embodiment of the invention the bottom and top of the locking opening (9) is covered with the body wall (7) (Figure-3, Figure-4, Figure-5 and Figure-6). By this means, the circumference of the locking opening (9) is encircled with the inner surface of the auricle (5), the inner wall (8) of the body and the body walls (7).
According to another embodiment of the invention, the inner surfaces (5) of the auricles comprise auricle channels (6) which recess onto the auricle inner surfaces.
Sugar in the form of soft dough shall be filled into the locking opening (9) of the tongue depressor (1) subject to the invention and said sugar will be cooled and hardened inside said opening. The volume and width of the sugar which hardens inside the locking opening (9) shall be larger than the section starting from the outer edge (10) of the body of the locking opening; therefore it shall not be possible for the sugar to fall back out of this opening.
By means of the locking openings (9) while, it has been prevented for the sugar to move horizontally, in the embodiment where the body walls (7) are present, as the bottom and top sections of the locking opening (9) shall be sealed off, the locking shall be more reliable in both the horizontal axis and the vertical axis. As the sugar in the form of dough shall also be filled into the auricle channels (6) located on the inner surfaces (5) of the auricles, said auricle channels (6) shall also provide locking at both the horizontal axis and the vertical axis together with the locking opening (9).
