Description

COMPOSITION
The object of the present invention is a cleaning composition and dosing device for same.
Certain colours used in household items, particularly in the textile industry have the tendency to degrade during use and / or during the cleaning process.
Coloured articles may become lighter or the colour may change as a result of wear / laundering, thus changing the appearance and shortening the useful life of the articles.
There is a continuous need for improved compositions, products, and methods that provide useful benefits to fabrics, especially clothing, such as maintaining and/or improving a good appearance, especially fabric colour, especially for fabric that have been worn, through a simple and convenient application of a product. It is an object of the invention to address these issues.
According to a first aspect of the invention there is provided a cleaning composition which comprises:
between 0 and 15%wt of an ester RC02R1 wherein R comprises a C8-C20 hydrocarbyl and Rl comprises a C1-C6 hydrocarbyl;
between 0 and 40 wt of ester R2C02R3 wherein R2 comprises a C10-C26 hydrocarbyl and R3 comprises a C5-C15 hydrocarbyl;
between 0 and 40%wt of R4C02R5 wherein R4 comprises a C4-C12 hydrocarbyl and R5 comprises a C8-C20 hydrocarbyl;
and, further optionally one or more further optional constituents which may impart a further aesthetic or technical benefit to the said compositions.
A hydrocarbyl group shall be understood to be a chemical group which comprises a carbon backbone and which may be substituted. Preferred examples of hydrocarbyl groups include alkyl, alkenyl and aryl groups (which may be substituted). The hydrocarbyl group may be branched or may comprise a straight chain group.
It has been found the composition of the invention displays excellent colour renewal ability.
In a preferred aspect, the cleaning composition is for treating a textile fabric. In this regard it has been observed that a major benefit of the cleaning composition to restore/revive darks and colors after fading.
Indeed fabrics treated with the composition of the invention have been found to be "Like new", revitalized and brilliant/revived/revitalized/shining, especially 'colours' and 'darks'. Preferably RC02 comprises myristate and Rl comprises isopropyl. Preferably R2C02 comprises oleate and R3 comprises decyl. Preferably R4C02 comprises Caprylate and R5 comprises coco.
Generally the composition is non-aqueous. By non- aqueous it is intended to mean that the water content is less than 5wt%, more preferably less than 4wt%, more preferably less than 3wt%, more preferably less than 2wt%, more preferably less than lwt% and most preferably less than 0.5wt%,
A preferred non-limiting example of a composition according to the invention is shown below.
Figure imgf000003_0001
According to a second aspect of the invention there is provided a dispensing device which comprises a quantity of a cleaning composition according to the first aspect of the invention, which dispensing device comprises an aerosol dispenser.
It will be appreciated that the features of the first aspect of the invention shall be taken to apply to the second aspect of the invention mutatis mutandis. Preferably the device comprises a propellant. Preferably the propellant comprises an admixture of propane and butane.
In the device preferably the propellant make up around 30 - 80wt% of the contained composition (with the remainder being in accordance with the first aspect of the invention).
Preferably the device comprises a corrosion inhibitor/preservative.
According to a third aspect of the invention there is provided a method for treating a fabric comprising the steps of:
applying a cleaning composition according to the first aspect of the invention or a device according to the second aspect of the invention to fabric.
Preferably the product applied (sprayed) directly on clean, dry and ironed fabrics. It has been found that there is no need to rinse/dry/iron fabrics after product application. Surfaces other than fabrics could be treated thus according to a fourth aspect of the invention there is provided a method for treating a surface comprising the steps of: applying a cleaning composition according to the first aspect of the invention or a device according to the second aspect of the invention to a surface.
Such surfaces include automotive (seats and internal plastic parts) and leather/shoe care and upholstery
It will be appreciated that the features of the first and / or second aspect of the invention shall be taken to apply to the third and fourth aspect of the invention mutatis mutandis.
