Abstract
A method for improved Bluetooth connectivity for a portable electronic device including steps of: identifying each device paired with the portable electronic device through Bluetooth connectivity; blocking any second Bluetooth connection to each identified device; and securing each Bluetooth connection to the portable electronic device to ensure that no other electronic device is paired to any identified device. The portable electronic device is preferably a smartphone or a tablet. The method is integrated onto the portable electronic device through a software application, where the software application is accessed by the portable electronic device through a network connection.
Description
METHOD FOR IMPROVED BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY
CROSS- REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
The present PCT patent application claims priority benefit of the U.S. Utility patent application 15/008,958 filed on 28-JAN-2016 entitled "METHOD FOR IMPROVED BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY under 35 USC 111(a). The contents of this related Utility application are incorporated herein by reference for all purposes to the extent that such subject matter is not inconsistent herewith or limiting hereof. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of Invention
The present invention relates to method for improved Bluetooth connectivity for a portable electronic device.
Description of Related Art
Many individuals use portable electronic devices on a daily basis. The most common portable electronic devices are smartphones and tablets. Each smart phone and tablet includes applications that are placed on the memory of the smart phone or tablet for use by the user. The smart phone or tablet normally includes various connectivity options for a user. Network connectivity options include mobile data network connections through a cellular connection or alternatively a user may connect to WIFI connection for interaction by the user. Many of these portable electronic devices may be paired with other electronic devices for various purposes. Typically, when a portable electronic device such as a smart phone or tablet is paired to another electronic device through a Bluetooth connection. The Bluetooth connection enables the user to integrate the portable electronic device with another electronic device such as a speaker, a monitor or printer in order for a user to integrate use of the portable electronic device with the connected electronic device. One drawback to Bluetooth connectivity is interference may occur with other
paired devices either intentionally or unintentionally. As a result, the connectivity interference may block or disable the intended user. It would therefore be advantageous to have a application available on a portable electronic device that limited Bluetooth connectivity to diminish or avoid any intentional or unintentional third-party connections.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method for improved Bluetooth connectivity for a portable electronic device including steps of: identifying each device paired with the portable electronic device through Bluetooth connectivity; blocking any second Bluetooth connection to each identified device; and securing each Bluetooth connection to the portable electronic device to ensure that no other electronic device is paired to any identified device. The portable electronic device is preferably a smartphone or a tablet. The method is integrated onto the portable electronic device through a software application, where the software application is accessed by the portable electronic device through a network connection.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
Figure 1 depicts a portable electronic device that includes a Bluetooth connectivity application according to the present invention installed thereon. DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a method and system that is used on a portable electronic device, in particular a smart phone or a tablet that is integrated through a software application installed thereon. The method includes instructions that identify each paired electronic device with the portable electronic device. Secondly after identifying each paired electronic device, the method blocks any second Bluetooth connection with each identified electronic device. After blocking any second connection through to the paired electronic device the method that secures each Bluetooth
connection to the portable electronic device insuring that no other electronic device is paired with any identified device. This method is accomplished through a software application installed on the portable electronic device. The software application is available through a network connection and installed thereon as other applications may be on the subject portable electronic device.
In reference to Figure 1, a portable electronic device 100 is depicted. Portable electronic device 100 may be a smart phone or tablet, which has available processing and memory capabilities to integrate software saved onto the memory of the electronic device 100. An icon 20 is shown on the portable electronic device 100, where this icon 20 represents the software application that implements the method according to the present invention. The method according to the present invention identifies each device that may be paired with the portable electronic device 100 through Bluetooth connectivity. Secondly, the method blocks any second Bluetooth connection to each identified electronic device preventing any other Bluetooth connection to each identified device. It further secures these connections such that no other portable electronic device is paired to any identified device. As stated, the portable electronic device 100 may be a smart phone or a tablet and this method is integrated through the software that his downloaded through a network connection. The network connection may be accomplished through a mobile data service available through a cellular network or through a Wi-Fi network connection. The instant invention has been shown and described in what it considers to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made there from within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
