Description

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING AN INFORMATION TO A PERSON BELONGING TO A TARGETED COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a method and a system for providing an information to a person belonging to a targeted community of people.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
Finding educational material on patients suffering a chronical disease, like diabetes, is very easy today, one can just make generic search on the internet or connect to some dedicated websites.
The problem with this educational material is that it is very general, often accurate and exhaustive, and thus does not match with the unmet needs of patients.
Indeed, when a patient is left on his own (in between 2 doctor's visit), he is often wondering whether a given unknown feeling is linked to his condition or is just "normal" (belly pain, sensation of dryness,...etc).
The puipose of the invention is to provide a method and a system to assist every day life a patient suffering a chronical disease by answering specific question raised by him on his disease to improve his comfort and daily quality of life.

The invention allows a patient having a given set of questions to be promptly provided with a literature of relevance to the questions raised and to have a feedback by other patients of the same community raising similar questions so that they can exchange their point of view and experience.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
Preferred embodiments of the invention are hereinbelow described with reference to enclosed drawing where:
Figs. 1 to 9 show in a smartphone screen views of a web application launched according to an embodiment of the invention.
The method for providing information to a person belonging to targeted community of people, in particular a community of people sharing a chronical disease like for instance but not exclusively diabetes, comprises the steps of choosing a community of people, providing a search apparatus comprising an artificial intelligence engine and a searcheable database by the artificial intelligence engine, providing an online communication platform to the community of people, providing each person of said community with an electronic device comprising a request system in communication both with said search apparatus and said online communication platform, and training the artificial intelligence engine to search the database based on questions by the community to be answered.
According to an important aspect of the invention when a person of said community asks a question through said request system, the request system in real time asks said artificial intelligence engine to automatically search the database to retrieve any information answering the question and at the same time the request system automatically makes available the same question to the community on the online communication platform where an exchange of information with any interested people of the community is established.
The artificial intelligence engine in real time automatically makes available to the patient any information retrieved.
The patient can access such an information directly on his electronic device.
It might be possible that such an information, at least in parts, is crowdsourced from other users of the application.
The search apparatus may be part of a computer system or a cloud system.
The online communication platform may be selected from the group consisting of message boards and/or chat rooms and/or life online audio or video communication.
The electronic device may be a computer or a PDA, or preferably a mobile telephone and in more detail a smartphone.
In the best embodiment the request system is comprised in a web application installed on said smartphone.
This web application provides educational material on the chronical disease in a "semi-customised" mode.
The purpose is not to diagnose patients on a smartphone, but to link a patient having a given set of questions to a literature of relevance to the questions raised and other patients of the same community raising similar questions so that they can exchange.
This exchange can be moderated or not.
The questions from the patient as said can be formulated in writing or in plain language, to a voice recognition software installed on the smartphone that connects to the artificial intelligence engine educated with a given approved educational material. The artificial intelligence software engine has the capacity to analyse the question, and bring some relevant responses in a given format: list of articles or also voice response in plain language.
Examples of suitable artificial intelligence software are Cortana from Microsoft, Google AI or IBM Watson.
These engines have to be supplied with educational material already existing also in an unusual format (for instance on some excellent websites for diabetics, the educational content is only available as PDF "chapters"... not very useful when having just a question on a sudden belly pain...) and have to be trained to be capable of interpreting this educational material and link it to external questions.
The originality of this approach is thus not to create a given new educational material, but to make it available in a user friendly and real time fashion on an object, the smartphone, that people have always with them.
This approach therefore is suitable to fulfill the need of a community of patients suffering a same type of chronic disease which are left on their own most of the time, and have limited possibility to get in touch with their doctor for every day life management.
Furthermore the online information platform makes available to the community of people through said request system at least one course created by at least one person of the community, at least another person of the community through said request system includes himself in the course, and progress of all participants to the course is made available to the online information platform.
For a better understanding of the above and other features we make now reference to the appended drawings.
Figure 1 shows the web application installed on a smartphone of a patient through which the patient is in communication with the online communication platform. The smartphone displays on the top of the screen the progress the patient did in a program of courses he is involved in.
The web application also displays on the screen of the smartphone any personal goal created by the patient and/or other goals shared with other members of the community and the number of people sharing these goals.
The web application also displays on the bottom of the screen the list of courses, ("The Essentials", "Medecine", ...) where the patient is involved in.
Figure 2 shows screen of figure 1 scrolled to display the remaining courses the patient is involved in, and a new course available together with the number of members of the community doing the new course.
Questions and answers from patients and also experts on the online communication platform contribute to evolution in the number of courses as depending on the interest of a certain amount of people of the community in a similar subject, then that will be turned into a new course.
Figure 3 shows screen of figure 1 further scrolled to display a new course that can be rated by the patient to add to his program.
Figure 4 shows screen of figure 1 after having selected the icon relating to one specific course.
The application displays the progress of the patient doing the course and a representation of his progress against other members of the community doing the same course.
As shown in figure 5, representing the screen of figure 4 scrolled, the application also makes available on the screen comments and questions put on the online communication platform from the same patient and other patients doing the same course. As shown in figure 6, the web application may also allow the patient to create his personal goal and display on the screen of the smartphone goals set by him and by the other members of the community to join those latter to achieve the same goal together.
With reference to figure 7, the application may also display on the screen of the smartphone courses that might help the patient to achieve his goal.
With reference to figure 8, the application displays on the screen of the smartphone the input means being in the form of a virtual keyboard for the patient to type a question to be answered by the search apparatus. Of course, input means may be in form of a microphone of the smartphone so the patient may talk to the microphone to ask a question to be answered by the search apparatus.
With reference to figure 9, the application displays on the screen of the smartphone both the answer from the search apparatus and from the community to which the patient can be directly in touch.
As said, in the online communication platform accessed by each patient via the web application installed on his smartphone, each patient can communicate directly with other patients for example to exchange experiences, gain or give support.
In this particular online communication platform there is further the option of life audio or video streaming that may assist the patient.
In addition to contact with other patients the online communication platform may be open to medical professionals that might provide their advice to help ameliorate patient condition.
