Description
DESCRIPTION
AN ADJUSTABLE REAR UNDERRUN PROTECTION BRACKET Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to an adjustable rear underrun protection bracket which is developed for compliance with the homologation standards and which enables the rear underrun protection to be connected to the vehicle chassis at different heights.
Background of the Invention
The procedures carried out for registration of compliance of production of motor vehicles, trailers, forest vehicles and mopeds to legal legislation is named as homologation. Underrun protection heights of heavy commercial vehicles are determined according to legal legislation and the underrun protection height varies according to the vehicle size and tire diameter. The rear underrun protections used in the state of the art are connected on a bracket and the bracket is connected onto the vehicle chassis. In order to adjust the height of the bracket on the chassis, metal sheets are incorporated between the bracket and the chassis. Heights of the rear underrun protection connection brackets in the state of the art vary and differ depending on the area of use of the vehicles, spring heights and tire sizes. Therefore, in order to keep the height of the rear underrun protection fixed according to the homologation standards, different mounting brackets or intermediate height adjustment metal sheets are used. This situation causes extra cost and weight on the vehicle. Additionally, it also causes production problems and errors in the assembly line.
Problems Solved by the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to provide a rear underrun protection bracket which enables to adjust the height of the rear underrun protection according to the homologation standards for commercial vehicles having different spring heights or tire sizes.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide an adjustable rear underrun protection bracket which does not require use of adjustment metal sheets and has low cost and weight.
Detailed Description of the Invention An adjustable rear underrun protection bracket developed to fulfill the objective of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, in which:
Figure 1. is a perspective view of the adjustable rear underrun protection bracket.
Figure 2. is a side view of the adjustable rear underrun protection bracket.
The components shown in the figures are given reference numbers as follows:
1. Rear underrun protection bracket
2. Body
3. Connecting member
4. First channel
5. Second channel
6. Joining member
S. Chassis
T. Underrun protection
An adjustable rear underrun protection bracket (1), which is developed for compliance with the homologation standards, and which enables the underrun protection (T) to be connected to the vehicle chassis (S) at different heights, basically comprises
at least one body (2),
at least one connecting member (3) which is located on the body (2) and has a concave form, and on which an underrun protection (T) is connected,
- at least one first channel (4) which is drilled on the body (2),
at least one second channel (5) which is drilled on the body (2) and is perpendicular to the first channel (4),
at least one joining member (6) which passes through the second channel (5) and enables the body (2) to be connected on the chassis (S).
The adjustable rear underrun protection bracket (1) of the present invention includes a body (2) comprised of a flat plate. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, there are two bodies (2) on the chassis (S). On the body (2), the cylindrical underrun protection (T) is placed on the connecting member (3) which is the form of a plate that is bent in a concave form. In other words, the underrun protection (T) is placed into the concave form of the connecting member (3) and it is fastened. A first channel (4) is drilled on the body (2) and a second channel (5) is drilled on the body (2) such that it will be perpendicular to the first channel (4). In a preferred embodiment of the invention, at least two second channels (5), which are parallel to each other, are drilled on the body (2). A joining member (6), which passes through the second channel (5) and enables the body (2) to be connected on the chassis (S), is used. When the height of the rear underrun bracket (1) connected onto the chassis (S) by the help of the joining members (6) is desired to be changed, the desired height is adjusted by the help of a plurality of second channels (5) provided on the body (2), and the body (2) is connected onto the chassis (S) at a desired height by the help of the joining member (6). Thus, a
rear underrun protection bracket (1), which enables to adjust height of the rear underrun protection (T) according to the homologation standards for commercial vehicles having different spring heights or tire sizes, is realized. Moreover, an adjustable rear underrun protection bracket (1), which does not require use of adjustment metal sheets and which has low cost and weight, is provided.
