Abstract
Buttbag made of a flexible plastic film where the bottom edge is folded or welded to the bottom of the bag (3), both side edges (4) are welded together and the top edges (5), which can be opened, are fitted with a zipseal or adhesive, characterised by, that the both inner sides of the bag has close to the opening resisting /isolating plates (6), that on the outsides of the bag and outside the plates there are plastic loops (8) on the outside of the bag, in line with the plates, with the loops ends (9) fixed and the loops shaped to allow a thumb/finger to hook into each one such that the bag zipseal can be opened by spreading the thumb/finger; the finished cigarette can be extinguished by placing the glowing tip between the plates (6) and pressing them together with the thumb/finger.
Description
CIGARETTE BUTT BAG WITH EXTINGUISHING DEVICE AND STRIPS FOR SIMPLE USE
Once a person has finished smoking a cigarette, he or she is left with the cigarettebutt. In some places, finding an environmentally-friendly means for disposing of cigarette butts can be a problem and far too many are discarded in the street or in public places which is an unwelcome consequence from both an environmental and aesthetical viewpoint. Nowadays, carrying a pocket-ashtray is considered awkward and/or inconvenient.
The invention described herein is a bag for disposing of cigarette butts- a buttbag.
This invention has the characteristics needed to fulfil the requirements.
The salient features described below are illustrated by drawings.
Drawing 1 shows the side view of the buttbag.
Drawing 2 shows the section A- A of the side view (drawing 1).
Drawing 3 shows the open view of the buttbag as per drawing 1 looking towards the opening
Points 1 and 2 in the drawings identify the two sides of the buttbag which are joined together at the side edges 4 and with the bottom of the bag 3. The buttbag is made from a flexible plastic film that can be metalised and have a thickness of 0.05 millimetres. The butt-bag's fourth edges are joined to a plastic zipcloser 5 of the type commonly used in re-sealable plastic bags. As an alternative to the zipcloser an adhesive could be applied to one or both inner sides of the opening, however the buttbag sealer must be suitable for repeated opening and secure closing. Point 6 indicates two heatresistant/insulating plates attached to the inner surfaces of the sides of the bag indicated by the broken line 7 in drawing 1. The plates could be 0.3 - 1.5 millimetres thick, made from cardboard with an optional bonded layer of thin aluminium. Point 8 indicates two plasticfoil loops, their ends 9 attached to the outside of the bag. An appropriate means of attachment would be to weld the pair of plates 6 and the pair of loops 8 simultaneously to each side of the bag. The loops fold flat against the outsides of the bag until used. Point 10 indicates an adhesive strip with a removable protective tape allowing the bag to be attached to the outside of a pack of cigarettes. When stored, the bag can be folded in half to save space.
When the smoker has finished a cigarette he or she would use the buttbag by inserting the thumb and forefinger of, for example, the left hand into the loops 8 and spreading them apart thus opening the zipseal. Using the other hand the smoker places the glowing tip of the cigarette between the plates 6 before
pressing together the thumb and forefinger holding the loops, thus extinguishing the cigarette between the plates 6.
When the thumb and forefinger are spread apart again the butt drops into the bag following which the thumb and forefinger are pressed together once more and the zipseal is closed in the normal way, avoiding the spread of odour from the stubs.
When about eight butts have been placed in the bag it can be rolled up and placed in the part- empty cigarette pack, saving space on the outside of the pack. As more cigarettes are smoked there will be more space for the buttbag in the cigarette pack. After smoking all the cigarettes the empty pack and the buttbag can be disposed of appropriately.
The butt-bag can be made in a range of sizes, does not need to be placed in or on a cigarette pack and can be disposed of before it is completely full.
The butt-bag can have images and text printed on the outside.
It should be pointed out that the butt-bag does not in any way promote smoking, is simply a way to allow responsible smokers to avoid littering.
