  • the present invention provides for a embodiment made up of rigid and stiff elements that can be manufactured from metallic elements like stainless steel, aluminum, copper and other metals or alloys or polymer materials.
  • Polymers like polyethylene or polypropylene, nylon, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), polyether ether ketone (PEEK) a combination thereof are also preferred.
  • More preferable materials include polymers like polyethylene, polypropylene, poly olefins, cyclic olefins, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), or a combination thereof.
  • Flexible polymers like natural rubbers, silicone rubber, neoprene or a combination thereof can also be used to manufacture the flexible items of the embodiment like the seal and flexible tubing and microbore tubing and narrow bore tubing.

  • TYPE A device has a filling port that is closed with a cap(Fig.l).
  • the FILLING PORT CAP can be removed (Fig.lA) and a syringe or a similar device can be used to inject (Fig.l B) the adhesive to fill the interior ADHESIVE CHAMBER.
  • TYPE B is a pre-loaded device that has a built in ADHESIVE filled chamber in the form of a COLLAPSIBLE CARTRIDGE (Fig.7).
  • Both TYPE A and TYPE B forms of the devices, one one end, include a TURNING KNOB (Fig.1 & Fig.2) that is heavily knurled to present a firm grip to the fingers.
  • the TURNING KNOB on the other end has a pointed threaded rod, THREADED PLUNGER (Fig.5A).
  • the THREADED PLUNGER is threaded into the ADHESIVE CHAMBER via a THREADED NUT (Fig.5A).
  • a SQUEEZING STUB (Fig.7, Fig.9B).
  • the SQUEEZING STUB has a slotted middle that accommodates the sealed narrow end of the ADHESIVE CARTRIDGE.
  • the SQUEEZING STUB is made up a strong polymer material like nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene, or a combination thereof.
  • the lips of the SQUEEZING STUB are rounded (Fig.9A) so as to ride the collapsible tube smoothly as the stup compress the collapsible tube lengthwise from the bottom to the top, thus expressing out the adhesive inside of the collapsing tube from the pierced end on the top.
  • ADHESIVE CARTRIDGE has a thin perforable film on the top (Fig.9A).
  • the ADHESIVE CARTRIDGE is made of a laminated plastic collapsible tube or preferably collapsible aluminum tube. The adhesive is filled in from the bottom and then the bottom is heat sealed in case of a plastic laminate tube or crimped in case of aluminum collapsible tube (Fig.9A).
  • Both TYPE A and TYPE B forms of the device include, on the other end, a STIFF TUBING (Fig.1 , Fig.2), of about thirty to forty centimeters length and four to seven millimeters diameter and about one to two millimeter thickness, made up of a stiff material like nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), or a combination thereof or metallic material like preferably stainless steel, copper, aluminum or alloys thereof.
  • FLEXIBLE TUBE (Fig.3) is of longer length (about five to ten centimeters more) than STIFF TUBING and runs along the length of STIFF TUBING.
  • FLEXIBLE TUBE is preferably made out of silicone rubber. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), polyether ether ketone (PEEK) material can also 1 be considered.
  • the diameter of the FLEXIBLE tube is less than the diameter of the STIFF TUBING so that it can be easily inserted along the length of the STIFF TUBE.
  • FLEXIBLE TUBE needs to be of narrow bore so as to decrease the dead volume in the adhesive path. A bore diameter of quarter a millimeter to one millimeter is preferable.
  • FLEXIBLE TUBE is fixed tight within the STIFF TUBE using HOLDING PLUGs on both ends of STIFF TUBE (Fig.3).
  • the open end of the FLEXIBLE TUBE carries a small MICROBORE TIP.
  • the material of MICROBORE TIP is preferably made out of silicone rubber, Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), polyether ether ketone (PEEK) material can also be considered.
  • MICROBORE TIP is about quarter millimeter in diameter and length of about five millimeters with about three millimeters inserted into the FLEXIBLE TUBE. Silicone rubber is prefered material due to its softness.
  • FILLING PORT CAP is removed (Fig. 5A) revealing the FILLING PORT.
  • ADHESIVE is injected into the ADHESIVE CHAMBER via the FILLING PORT (Fig.5 B and C).
  • FILLING PORT is plugged back using the FILLING PORT CAP (Fig.5D).
  • the TURNING KNOB is twisted clockwise using thumb and forefinger (Fig.6A), causing the THREADED PLUNGER thread through the THREADED NUT embedded at one end of the ADHESIVE CHAMBER (Fig.5A) thus pushing the SEAL forward (Fig.6B).
  • the TURNING KNOB is twisted clockwise using thumb and forefinger, causing the THREADED PLUNGER thread through the THREADED NUT embedded at one end of the ADHESIVE CHAMBER thus pushing the SQUEEZING STUB forward (Fig.8A).
  • the adhesive exits out from the MICROBORE TIP as fine drops.
  • the application device is inserted into one of the laparoscopic port (preferably right most one).
  • the MICROBORE TIP is taken near the mesh edge and the TURNING KNOB is twisted firmly and slowly so as to deposit a very small microdrop of adhesive over the mesh.
  • the adhesive adheares within seconds to the tissue thus binding the mesh to the tissue.
  • FLEXIBLE TUBE in conjunction with MICROBORE TIP at the end of the affixation device can offer the doctor or a surgeon, great degree of maneuverability regarding application of adhesive while affixing the mesh during the procedure.
  • the FLEXIBLE TUBE can be moved full 360 degrees using the help of a forceps that is introduced via a laparoscopic port.
  • the MICROBORE TIP being a soft material does not cause any trauma even when touching or pushing or grazing against various tissues or skin during the procedure.
  • the MICROBORE TIP can reach various places and deposit the adhesive accordingly.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif médical à administration précise d'adhésif comprenant : une chambre d'adhésif ; un orifice de remplissage conçu pour l'introduction de l'adhésif dans ladite chambre ; un bouton tournant conçu pour l'administration de micro-gouttes régulées à partir de ladite chambre ; un tube rigide ; et un tube flexible présentant un trou étroit qui est pourvu d'une pointe microbore souple.
