Description

"Mounting Means for a Toilet Cleaner"
The invention concerns a mounting means for a toilet cleaner, and a toilet cleaner comprising such mounting means.
Toilet or WC cleaners are known for a long time. They deliver a chemical formulation to the inner of the toilet bowl, this formulation can have multiple functionalities such as cleaning, foaming, coloring and perfume delivery. In addition, some cleaners have also separate fragrances and/or malodor neutralizer delivery to the environment.
Toilet cleaners are also known as rim block devices because they are suspended over the toilet bowl's rim. Such cleaners are usually mounted on the rim by a hook, which is bendable and of a fixed size or has adjustable length.
One of such means for mounting is know from EP 1449969 A2. That document describes a holding device in the form of a hook for attaching a WC cleaner to a toilet's rim. The hook has an outer section which extends downwards at the outer face of the rim, an upper section which extends over the rim and a section which is vertical and extends downwards at the inner face of the rim. The upper and inner sections are each composed of slidable parts such that their length can be adjusted. By adjusting the length of the inner section it is possible to adjust the vertical position of the WC cleaner. By adjusting the upper section, it is possible to tighten the hook on rims of different width.
However, such a construction has disadvantages. It is made of multiple segmented parts, and several adjustment steps may be necessary before a consumer is able to correctly position the wc cleaner at its intended use position.
The present invention overcomes these disadvantages by providing a mounting means according to the features of claim 1 , and a toilet cleaner comprising such mounting means according to claim 10. The dependent claims related further developments of the invention.
The present invention concerns a mounting means for mounting a toilet cleaner on a toilet rim, the toilet rim comprising a top face, with a horizontal surface, an inner face, and an outer face; the mounting means comprising: a rigid section to be placed on the top face of the toilet rim; and a flexible section connected to the rigid section, and wherein at least one of the rigid section or the flexible section is able to support one toilet cleaner component and/or a fastening means. According to one aspect of the invention, it is provided, that the rigid section is an L-shaped section so that it can be placed on the top face of the toilet rim while also facing the inner face of the toilet rim.
According to another aspect of the invention, it is provided, that the rigid section is an L-shaped section so that it can be placed on the top face of the toilet rim while also facing the outer face of the toilet rim.
According to one aspect of the invention, it is provided, that the fastening means is attached to the flexible section. This aspect of the invention is preferably realized in connection with the flexible section configured to be facing the outer side of the toilet rim and the L-shaped section thus configured to be facing the inner face of the toilet rim. In the preferred case, the L-shaped section is able to support the toilet cleaner component which is adapted to face the inner side of the toilet rim, for example a basket to be flushed with water or a spray nozzle.
According to one aspect of the invention, it is provided, that the fastening means is attached to the rigid section. This aspect of the invention is preferably realized in connection with the L-shaped section configured to be facing the outer side of the toilet rim and the flexible section thus configured to facing the inner face of the toilet rim. In the preferred case, the flexible section is able to support the toilet cleaner component which is adapted to face the inner side of the toilet rim, for example a basket to be flushed with water or a spray nozzle.
According to one aspect of the invention, it is provided, that the flexible section is provided between the L-shaped section and the fastening means, so that the distance between the inner face of the toilet rim and the L-shaped section can be adjusted according to the position of the fastening means at the toilet rim, when fastened to a toilet rim. In this case, the flexible section is able to be accommodated along the outer side of the rim so that a user can choose a desired position for the fastening means at the outer side of the rim.
The term outer side of the rim means, for purposes of the present invention, the outer side of the toilet bowl, near the rim or at the rim area.
The formulation is a fluid, preferably a liquid under ambient temperature of 20°C and pressure of 1 atm. The mounting means preferably comprises a conduit for formulation, which conduit is provided within the rigid section and within the flexible section. The conduit provides a connection for formulation over the toilet rim, when the mounting means is fastened to the toilet rim. Thus, formulation can be transported, e.g. from a container external to the toilet to the inner side of the toilet.
The dispensing means is preferably fluidically connected to the reservoir via the conduit. The fluid connection may additionally comprise e.g. control means, valves, sensors, mechanical pipe adapters. According to one aspect of the invention, it is provided, that the rigid section has a higher elasticity constant than of the flexible section.
According to one aspect of the invention, it is provided, that the rigid section and the flexible section are configured such that the mounting means has a maximum span width of 700 mm. With this span width, it is possible to fit the mounting means, and toilet cleaner using such, to the majority of known toilet bowl types.
According to one aspect of the invention, it is provided a toilet cleaner for dispensing a formulation to a toilet bowl, comprising a mounting means as described above, wherein the dispensing means can be suspended on a toilet rim by the mounting means at an inner side of the toilet bowl.
According to one aspect of the invention the toilet cleaner further comprises a reservoir for storing formulation which reservoir can be suspended on a toilet rim by the mounting means at an outer side of the toilet bowl. It is an especial advantage of the invention, that it is possible to mount a toilet cleaner component inside the toilet bowl (facing the inner face of the toilet rim) while the respective reservoir, in fluid connection to the cleaner component, is mounted outside of the toilet rim (facing the outer face of the toilet rim), on the same mounting means and in a very stable manner.
The invention will be further described with the following embodiments and figures. The figures show:
Fig. 1 a cross-sectional view of the mounting means (1 ) and a toilet cleaner (2) using such on a toilet rim (3); the inner face (5) of the toilet rim (3) having a right angle in relation to the top face (4) of the toilet rim (3);
Fig. 2 a cross-sectional view of the mounting means (1 ) and a toilet cleaner (2) using such on a toilet rim (3); the inner face (5) of the toilet rim (3) having an angle other than a right angle in relation to the top face (4) of the toilet rim (3);
Fig. 3 a cross-sectional view of the mounting means (1 ) and a toilet cleaner (2) using such on a toilet rim (3); wherein the L-shaped section (1 1 ) faces the top face (4) and the outer face (6) of the toilet rim (3);
Fig. 4 a cross-sectional view of the mounting means (1 ) and toilet cleaner (2) with a reservoir (18) facing the outer face (6) of the toilet rim (3) and a toilet cleaner component (9) facing the inner face (5) of the toilet rim (3).
All figures are schematic and simplified so that the invention can be better understood. For instance, the toilet cleaner components are shown as a circle (9,13), and the commonly known dispensing means such as nozzle or openings for receiving and delivering flush water are not shown. Note that reference "4" points at the top face of the rim and not at the mounting means, which rests above the top face of the rim.
Figure 1 shows a cross-sectional view of the mounting means (1 ) and a toilet cleaner (2) using such on a toilet rim (3). The inner face (5) of the toilet rim (3) is facing the inner side (16) of the toilet bowl (15). The outer face (6) of the toilet rim (3) is facing away from the inner side (16) of the toilet bowl, in other words, it is facing the outer side (15). The mounting means (1 ) comprises a rigid section (7) to be placed on the top face (4) of the toilet rim; and a flexible section (8) attached to the rigid section (7). In Fig. 1 , the rigid section (7) is an L-shaped section (1 1 ) and is supporting one toilet cleaner component (9), preferentially comprising a dispensing means (13). The L-shaped section (1 1 ) is facing the inner face (5) of the toilet rim (3) and the component (9) is located in the inner side (16) of the toilet bowl (15). The mounting means (1 ), and consequently the toilet cleaner (2), are fixed to the outer face (6) of the toilet rim (3) by the fastening means (10), in this case a suction cup. Since the flexible section (8) is provided between the L-shaped section (1 1 ) and the fastening means (10), the distance between the inner face (5) of the toilet rim (3) and the L-shaped section (1 1 ) can be adjusted according to the position (h) of the fastening means (10) at the toilet rim (3). In this case, the flexible section (8) is able to be accommodated along the outer side of the rim (3), which is, in this case, part of the top face (4) and part of the outer face (6).
Due to the flexibility of the flexible section (8), a user can choose a desired position (h) for the fastening means (10). Preferably, the user would leave no gap between the L-shaped section (1 1 ) and the inner face (5) of the rim, so that the toilet cleaner is secured in place, on one side by the L- shaped section (1 1 ), and on the other side by the fastening means (10). The maximum span width (12) of the mounting means (1 ) is such that it can be mounted on toilets with a rim width (19) up to 700 mm.
Figure 2 shows a cross-sectional view of the mounting means (1 ) and a toilet cleaner (2) using such on a toilet rim (3). The figure 2 is similar to figure 1 . In Figure 2, the inner face of the (5) of the toilet rim (3) is angled, i.e. the angle between the inner face (5) with the top face (4) is not a right angle. Because the L-shaped section (1 1 ) facing the inner face (5) of the rim, the mounting means (1 ) is very versatile and can be mounted on such an angled rim as well.
Figure 3 shows an alternative embodiment of the invention. Fig. 3 shows a cross-sectional view of the mounting means (1 ) and a toilet cleaner (2) using such on a toilet rim (3). The mounting means (1 ) comprises a rigid section (7) to be placed on the top face (4) of the toilet rim; and a flexible section (8) attached to the rigid section (7). The rigid section (7) is an L-shaped section (1 1 ) which is facing the outer face (6) of the toilet rim (3). The flexible section (8) is supporting one toilet cleaner component (9), preferentially comprising a dispensing means (13), which component (9) is located in the inner side (16) of the toilet bowl (15). The mounting means (1 ), and consequently the toilet cleaner (2), are fixed to the outer face (6) of the toilet rim (3) by the fastening means (10), in this case a suction cup. Since the flexible section (8) is provided between the L-shaped section (1 1 ) and the fastening means (10), the mounting means (1 ) can be attached to toilet rims (3) with different widths (19). Due to the flexible section (8), the vertical position of component (9) will change according to the width of the rim, such that the component (9) be always positioned close to the rim.
Fig .4 shows a cross section view of a toilet rim (3) with an outer face (6), a top face (4), and an inner face (5). The inner face (5) is facing the inner side (16) of the toilet bowl (15). The outer face (6) is facing the outer side (17) of the toilet bowl (15).
A toilet cleaner (2) with a reservoir (18) and a dispensing means (13) is mounted to the toilet rim (3) with a mounting means (1 ). The mounting means comprises a rigid section (7) which is an L- shaped section (1 1 ) facing the inner face (5) of the rim. The L-shaped section (1 1 ) holds the dispensing means (13) on the inner side (16) of the toilet bowl (15). A flexible section (8), facing the outer face (6) of the rim, is attached to the rigid section (7). The reservoir (18) is attached to the flexible section (8). Due to the flexibility of the flexible section (8), a user can choose a desired position (h) for the fastening means (10). Preferably, the user would leave no gap between the L- shaped section (1 1 ) and the inner face (5) of the rim, so that the toilet cleaner is secured in place, on one side by the L-shaped section (1 1 ), and on the other side by the fastening means (10). The maximum span width (12) of the mounting means (1 ) is such that it can be mounted on toilets with a rim width (19) up to 700 mm.
The toilet cleaner (2) according to fig. 4 comprises a connection, such as a pipe, which supplies the liquid chemical formulation (14) from the reservoir (18) to the dispensing means (13), so that it can be dispensed is the toilet bowl (15).
The figures are simplified schematic representations, not showing all commonly known details of toilet cleaners, but only the features necessary to the understanding of the invention.
