이하, 첨부된 도면들을 참조하여 본 발명에 따른 '감지 장치'를 상세하게 설명한다. 설명하는 실시 예들은 본 발명의 기술 사상을 통상의 기술자가 용이하게 이해할 수 있도록 제공되는 것으로 이에 의해 본 발명이 한정되지 않는다. 또한, 첨부된 도면에 표현된 사항들은 본 발명의 실시 예들을 쉽게 설명하기 위해 도식화된 도면으로 실제로 구현되는 형태와 상이할 수 있다.
한편, 이하에서 표현되는 각 구성부는 본 발명을 구현하기 위한 예일 뿐이다. 따라서, 본 발명의 다른 구현에서는 본 발명의 사상 및 범위를 벗어나지 않는 범위에서 다른 구성부가 사용될 수 있다.
또한, 어떤 구성요소들을 '포함'한다는 표현은, '개방형'의 표현으로서 해당 구성요소들이 존재하는 것을 단순히 지칭할 뿐이며, 추가적인 구성요소들을 배제하는 것으로 이해되어서는 안 된다.
또한, '제1, 제2' 등과 같은 표현은, 복수의 구성들을 구분하기 위한 용도로만 사용된 표현으로써, 구성들 사이의 순서나 기타 특징들을 한정하지 않는다.
실시예들의 설명에 있어서, 각 층(막), 영역, 패턴 또는 구조물들이 기판, 각 층(막), 영역, 패드 또는 패턴들의 “상/위(on)”에 또는 “하/아래(under)”에 형성된다는 기재는, 직접(directly) 또는 다른 층을 개재하여 형성되는 것을 모두 포함한다. 각 층의 상/위 또는 하/아래에 대한 기준은 도면을 기준으로 설명한다.
어떤 부분이 다른 부분과 "연결"되어 있다고 할 때, 이는 "직접적으로 연결"되어 있는 경우뿐아니라, 그 중간에 다른 부재를 사이에 두고 "간접적으로 연결"되어 있는 경우도 포함한다. 또한 어떤 부분이 어떤 구성요소를 "포함"한다고 할 때, 이는 특별히 반대되는 기재가 없는 한 다른 구성요소를 제외하는 것이 아니라 다른 구성요소를 더 구비할 수 있다는 것을 의미한다.
도 1a, 도 1b, 도 1c는 종래 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 감지 장치를 나타내는 구성도이다.
도 1a를 참조하면, 종래의 감지장치는 벌크 형태의 발광부와 수광부를 PCB 기판에 실장(mounting)한 뒤에 커버기판을 씌워 조립하는 형태로 구현되었다. 한편, 일반적으로 감지장치를 제조하는 공정상 PCB기판과 커버기판 사이에 공간이 발생하는데, 도 1a에 나타난 것과 같이 발광부(130) 또는 수광부(140)와 커버기판(120) 사이의 간격(Air gap; 142)이 존재하게 된다. 그러나 이러한 간격은 발광부로부터 조사된 빛이 수광부에 이르기까지의 경로, 즉 센싱 거리의 증가로 이어져 감지장치의 정확도를 감소시킴과 동시에 감지장치의 구동 전력도 많이 소모하게 되는 문제점들을 야기한다.
특히, 발광부로부터 조사된 빛은 여러 경로를 통해 수광부에 도달할 수 있는데, 위와 같이 PCB 기판과 커버기판 사이에 간격이 존재하는 경우, 상기 커버기판의 하면에 반사된 빛이 수광부에 도달할 수도 있게 된다. 그러나 이러한 경로를 따라 수광부에 도달한 빛은 소위 크로스토크라 일컬어지는 잡음신호(도 1의 점선 화살표)에 해당하는 것으로, 대상물에 반사된 뒤 수광부에 도달한 빛과 달리 감지시 배제되어야 할 신호에 해당한다.
또한, 도 1b, 도 1c를 참조하면, 종래 발명의 감지 장치는 커버 기판과 수광부를 박막으로 일체화 하여 구현하거나, 수광부에 광 차폐층을 형성하여 발광부로부터 입력되는 노이즈를 차단하는 감지 장치를 사용하고 있었다.
그러나, 종래의 감지 장치의 경우, 기존의 실리콘 계열의 포토다이오드는 적용 면적과 형상 제어에 한계가 존재하여, 발광부와 수광부 간의 공간 분리가 필요하며, 발광부와 수광부 간의 거리가 길기 때문에 광 신호의 손실이 발생하는 문제점이 존재하고 있었다
본 발명의 감지 장치는 기판(210, 310, 410), 발광부(230, 330, 430), 수광부(240, 340, 440)를 포함할 수 있다.
기판(210, 310, 410)은 배선을 변경할 수 있는 전기 회로가 편성되어 있는 판으로, 절연기판 표면에 도체 패턴을 형성할 수 있는 절연 재료로 만들어진, 프린트, 배선판 및 절연기판을 모두 포함할 수 있다. 또한, 수광부(240, 340, 440)가 형성될 수 있는 투명 기판은 기판(210, 310, 410)의 일부분에 포함될 수도 있고, 기판(210, 310, 410)위에 별도의 투명 기판층을 형성하여 수광부가 위치하도록 할 수 있다.
상기 기판(210, 310, 410) 또는 투명 기판은 리지드(rigid)하거나 또는 플렉서블(flexible)할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 기판은 유리 또는 플라스틱을 포함할 수 있다. 자세하게, 상기 기판은 소다라임유리(soda lime glass) 또는 알루미노실리케이트유리 등의 화학 강화/반강화유리를 포함하거나, 폴리이미드(Polyimide, PI), 폴리에틸렌 테레프탈레이트(polyethylene terephthalate, PET), 프로필렌 글리콜(propylene glycol, PPG) 폴리 카보네이트(PC) 등의 강화 혹은 연성 플라스틱을 포함하거나 사파이어를 포함할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 기판 또는 투명 기판은 광등방성 필름을 포함할 수 있다. 일례로, 상기 기판은 COC(Cyclic Olefin Copolymer), COP(Cyclic Olefin Polymer), 광등방 폴리카보네이트(polycarbonate, PC) 또는 광등방 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트(PMMA) 등을 포함할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 기판 또는 투명 기판은 부분적으로 곡면을 가지면서 휘어질 수 있다. 즉, 기판은 부분적으로는 평면을 가지고, 부분적으로는 곡면을 가지면서 휘어질 수 있다. 자세하게, 상기 기판의 끝단이 곡면을 가지면서 휘어지거나 Random한 곡률을 포함한 표면을 가지며 휘어지거나 구부러질 수 있다.
또한, 상기 기판 또는 투명 기판은 유연한 특성을 가지는 플렉서블(flexible) 기판일 수 있다. 또한, 상기 기판 또는 투명 기판은 커브드(curved) 또는 벤디드(bended) 기판일 수 있다.
한편, 본 발명의 기판(210, 310, 410) 또는 투명 기판은 PCB(인쇄 회로 기판; printed circuit board) 또는 세라믹 기판으로 이루어질 수 있다. 이 때, PCB 기판은 회로 설계를 근거로 회로부품을 접속하는 전기배선을 배선 도형으로 표현하며, 절연물 상에 전기도체를 재현할 수 있다. 또한 전기부품을 탑재하고 이들을 회로적으로 연결하는 배선을 형성할 수 있으며, 부품의 전기적 연결기능 외의 부품들을 기계적으로 고정시켜줄 수 있다.
또한, 본 발명의 감지 장치는, 커버 기판을 더 포함할 수 있다. 커버 기판은 기판 위에 형성되며, 사용자의 터치 신호 또는 심박 신호 등 여러 입력 신호들을 입력 받을 수 있다. 이러한 커버 기판는 기판(210, 310, 410) 위에 바로 형성될 수도 있고, 커버 기판과 기판 사이에 발광부, 수광부, 그외 여러 반도체 소자 등 감지 장치에 필요한 부품들이 포함될 수도 있다.
또한, 커버 기판은 기판(210, 310, 410) 위에 형성되는 별도의 격벽에 의해 지지되어 고정될 수도 있다. 이 때, 격벽은 발광부에 의해 조사되는 빛이 곧장 수광부로 도달하는 것을 차단할 수도 있으며, 또 다른 용도로서 격벽은 상기 기판과 상기 커버기판 사이에 위치하여 상기 발광부 또는 상기 수광부가 배치될 수 있는 공간을 형성할 수도 있다.
발광부(230, 330, 430)는 기판 상에 형성되며, 광 신호를 조사하는 역할을 수행한다. 이 때, 발광부는 기본적으로 모든 방향으로 빛을 조사하는 기능을 하며, 이렇게 조사된 빛은 커버기판 상에 존재하는 대상물에 의해 반사된다. 이 때, 발광부는 발광 다이오드(LED), 유기 발광 다이오드(OLED), 적외선 발광 다이오드(Infrared Emitting Diode), 레이저 다이오드(Laser Diode) 중 적어도 하나를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
또한, 발광부(230, 330, 430)는 감지장치가 포함하는 전자 장치로부터 전력을 공급받아, 받은 에너지를 특정 파장의 빛으로 방출하며, 나아가 상기 발광부(230, 330, 430)는 조사하는 광 신호의 파장을 필요에 따라 변경하기 위하여 다양한 재료를 사용할 수 있다.
수광부(240, 340, 440)는 기판 또는 투명 기판상에 형성되며, 발광부가 조사하는 광 신호가 대상물에 흡수 또는 반사되는 경우, 흡수 또는 반사된 광 신호를 수신한다. 이 때, 수광부(240, 340, 440)는 상기 흡수 또는 반사된 광 신호를 수신하고 광전류 신호를 생성한다. 이 때, 수광부(240, 340, 440)는 광 다이오드(Photodiode), 광 전자 증배관, 광 트랜지스터(Phototransistor) 중 적어도 하나로 구현될 수 있다. 특히, 수광부(240, 340, 440)는 유기 박막 포토다이오드로 이루어지는 것이 바람직하다. 수광부 재료가 유기 박막 포토다이오드로 이루어지는 경우, 면적과 형상의 제약이 없이 수광부의 구조 설계가 가능하게 된다.
유기 박막 포토다이오드는 유기 재료를 기반으로 하며, 광 검지기를 대체할 수 있는 소자이다. 이러한 유기 박막 포토다이오드는 카메라 등 전자 장치의 광 민감도를 향상시키며, 균일한 색상 조성으로 디스플레이가 될 수 있는지 조사할 때 사용될 수 있다. 또한, 유기 박막 포토다이오드는 무기 물질들과 비교하여 매우 가볍고, 생산하는데 비용이 적게 들며, 유연한 응용분야에 사용될 수 있는 장점을 가진다.
유기 재료는 특히, 유기 재료의 소재에 따라서 특별한 파장 영역(ex; 적색 광, 녹색 광, 청색 광 등)에서만 민감성을 가질 수 있으므로, 사용처에 대한 적절한 재료를 선택하여 광학 센서의 스펙트럼 민감도를 조절할 수 있다. 또한, UV로부터 IR까지 흡수 스펙트럼이 좋은 특징을 가지며, 높은 photogeneration yield, 무기 재료와 비교하여 상대적으로 낮은 온도의 공정 능력을 통한 거의 대부분의 기판 공정 수용이 가능한 점 등 많은 장점을 가진다.
또한, 본 발명의 발광부(230, 330, 430) 또는 수광부(240, 340, 440)는, 기판 또는 투명 기판에 밀착하여 형성되는 것을 특징으로 한다. 이 때, 바람직한 실시예로서 상기 수광부(240, 340, 440)는 박막 형태로 기판 또는 투명 기판의 상면 또는 하면에 밀착하여 형성될 수 있다. 수광부(240, 340, 440)가 기판(210, 310, 410)의 상면에 형성되는 일 실시예로서, 상기 수광부(240, 340, 440)는 페이스트 상태의 물질을 소성 공정에 의해 소결시키는 방식으로 기판(210, 310, 410)의 상면에 형성시킬 수 있다.
더 구체적으로, 상기 수광부는 진공증착법, CVD, 인쇄공법 중 적어도 하나의 방법을 이용하여 상기 기판의 상면에 밀착하여 형성될 수 있다. 이와 같이 진공 증착이나 패터닝 등을 이용하여 기판 위에 매우 얇은 피박인 박막을 형성하는 경우 커버기판과 기판 사이의 간격을 최소화할 수 있으며 센서를 포함하는 전자 장치 자체의 두께를 얇게 하며 무게를 가볍게 만들 수 있는 장점이 있다.
수광부(240, 340, 440)가 기판(210, 310, 410)에 밀착하여 형성되는 경우, 커버기판 위의 대상물과의 센싱 거리가 가까워지므로, 수광부(240, 340, 440)의 감도(sensitivity)가 증가할 수 있다. 또한, 종래의 감지장치와 동일한 구동전압으로 감지 효율을 높일 수 있으므로 낮은 구동전압으로 기존과 동일한 성능을 구현할 수 있게 되는 효과가 있다.
도 2는 본 발명의 감지 장치 수광부가 유기 박막 포토다이오드로 구성되는 예시도이다. 수광부가 유기 박막 포토다이오드로 구성되는 경우, 종래의 수광부 대비하여 더 얇은 두께를 가질 수 있고, 종래 수광부 대비 더 작은 면적으로도 효율적인 수광부를 구현할 수 있는 장점이 있다.
도 2를 참조하면, 유기 박막 포토다이오드로 구성되는 수광부(240, 340, 440)는 상기 기판 상에 적층된 제1 전극(245), 활성화 층(244), 제2 전극(243, 247)를 포함할 수 있으며, 활성화 층 및 제1 전극 사이에 적층된 버퍼층(246) 또는 제2 전극 상에 적층된 보호층(242)을 더 포함할 수도 있다. 수광부(240, 340, 440)는 발광부가 형성되는 기판(210, 310, 410)에 적층되는 것이 바람직하나, 별도의 투명 기판(241)을 기판(210, 310, 410) 위에 형성하여 수광부의 제1 전극, 활성화 층, 버퍼층, 제2 전극, 보호층을 형성할 수도 있다. 이 때, 유기 박막 포토다이오드를 형성하는 방법은, 기판 상에 제1 전극을 형성하고, 표면 처리 후 버퍼층과 활성화 층을 형성하고, 제2 전극을 형성하게 된다.
또한, 제2 전극(243, 247)은 하나의 전극으로 이루어질 수도 있으며, 제1 서브 전극(243), 제2 서브 전극(247)을 포함하여 이루어질 수도 있다. 이 때, 제1 서브 전극(243)은 제1 전극(245)과 같이 글라스 위에 형성될 수 있으며, 제2 서브 전극(247)은 제1 서브 전극(243)과 연결되어 전극의 역할을 수행함과 동시에, 제1 서브 전극(243)을 산화/부식 등으로부터 보호하는 역할을 수행한다. 또한, 제2 서브 전극은 이 때, 제1 서브 전극(243)과 제2 서브 전극(247)의 일함수 차이가 큰 물질을 포함할 수 있도록 형성될 수 있으며, 제1 서브 전극(243)은 LiF, 제2 서브 전극(247)은 칼슘(Ca), 알루미늄(Al)등의 물질을 사용하여 형성될 수 있다.
먼저, ITO 패턴을 설계하고 마스크를 제작하여 기판 또는 유리(Glass) 위에 제2 전극(245)을 형성한다. ITO(Indium Tin Oxide)는 인듐 주석 산화물을 말하는 것으로, 보편적으로 사용되는 도전성 투명 전극이다. 이러한 ITO는 가시광선 영역에서는 투광 영역이 나타나며, 적외선 영역에서는 반사 특성이 우수하며 낮은 전기저항을 갖는 산화물이다. 또한, ITO 패터닝 시, 레이저 프린트(Laser Writer) 패터닝, 마스크(Mask) 적용 패터닝의 방법을 사용할 수 있다.
이어, 제1 전극(245)의 표면을 세정하고 친수 처리한다. 이 때, 아세톤과 알코올을 이용하여 세정하고, 플라스마(Plasma) 처리하여 코팅성을 확보할 수 있다. 이 때, i)세제(detergent)와 증류수를 혼합한 용액에 음파처리(sonication)하고, ii)아세톤(Acetone) 용액에 가열(heating)하며, iii)IPA 용액에 가열하며, iv)자외선-오존(UV-ozone) 처리한다.
또한, 제1 전극(245) 위에 버퍼층(246)를 형성할 수 있다. 버퍼층은 제2 전극 위에 PEDOT:PSS(PolyEthylene DiOxy Thiophene:PolyStyrene Sulfonate)을 코팅하여 형성할 수 있으며, PEDOT층은 전도성이 높은 고분자 물질로 내열성과 내광성 등의 화학안정성이 뛰어나다. 또한, 버퍼층을 형성하는 인쇄 공정에서 스핀 코팅(Spin Coating)을 사용할 수 있다. 이 때, i)스핀 코팅을 실시하고, ii)Hot Plate 에서 열처리(baking)한다.
이어, 활성화 층(244)을 형성할 수 있다. 이 때, 활성화 층에 사용되는 유기물을 합성하고 활성화 층을 코팅한다. 활성화 층은 빛을 직접적으로 흡수하여 감지하는 층으로, 스핀 코팅(Spin Coating), 잉크젯 프린팅(Ink Jet Printing), 슬롯 다이 코팅(Slot Die Coating) 등의 인쇄 공정을 사용하여 형성할 수 있다. 또한, 활성화 층(244)은 플로렌 계열의 고분자 물질을 사용할 수도 있고, PC60BM, PC70BM 등 여러 물질을 사용할 수 있다.
이 때, i)스핀 코팅을 실시하고, ii)Hot Plate 에서 열처리(baking)한다. iii)이어, 활성화 영역 이외의 부분을 아세톤(Acetone)을 이용하여 제거한다. 활성화 층 용액을 제조하는 경우, P3HT와 PC60BM을 1/0.7 중량비와 ODCB(1, 2-dichlorobenzene)로 용해한 후 교반한다.
활성화 층(244) 형성 이후, 제2 전극(243, 247)을 형성할 수 있다. 제2 전극을 증착하고 형성하여 마이크로전극을 제작할 수 있으며, 증착시에는 섀도우 마스크(Shadow Mask)를 사용하여 증착할 수 있으며, 제2 전극의 재료에는 Ag, Ca/Ag, Al 등 전극에 사용될 수 있는 모든 재료가 가능하다. 이어, 캡슐화된 글래스층을 형성할 수 있다. 이 때, 자외선 타입 레진인 에폭시 계열 레진을 사용할 수 있다. 또한, 상술한 바와 같이, 제1 전극(243, 247)은 하나의 전극으로 이루어질 수도 있으며, 제1 서브 전극(243), 제2 서브 전극(247)을 포함하여 이루어질 수도 있다.
제2 전극을 형성하는 경우, i)LiF층, Al층을 금속 용착(metal deposition)하고, ii)어닐링(Annealing)하며, iii)글래스층에 배리어 시트(Barrier Sheet)를 장착하고 자외선 레진(UV resin)을 글래스층에 바른 후 자외선(UV) 처리를 실행한다. 또한, 제2 전극이 제1 서브 전극 및 제2 서브 전극으로 이루어지는 경우, 제1 서브 전극(243)은 LiF층, 제2 서브 전극(247)은 칼슘(Ca)층 또는 알루미늄(Al)층의 물질을 사용하여 형성될 수 있다.
이 때, 제1 전극은 양극으로, 제2 전극은 음극으로 사용될 수 있다. 또한, 상기 제1 전극과 상기 제2 전극은, 전극을 구성하는 재료의 일함수 차이가 0.5 내지 1.5 eV 인 것을 특징으로 한다. 제1 전극과 제2 전극을 구성하는 재료의 일함수 차이가 크면 클수록 효율이 높아진다.
도 3는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 감지 장치를 나타내는 구성도이다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 감지 장치는, 이와 같이 종래의 포토다이오드가 가지고 있는 단점을 해소하기 위하여, 기존의 근접 센서의 편향된 수광 영역을 광원을 기준으로 하여 전 영역으로 확장하고, 수광부의 면적을 증가시켜 수신 감도를 증가시킬 수 있는 감지 장치에 관한 것으로서, 이하 도 3을 참조하여 상세히 살펴보기로 한다.
도 3을 참조하면, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 감지 장치는, 기판(210), 발광부(230), 수광부(240)를 포함하고, 수광부(240)는 발광부(230)를 둘러싸는 형태로 구현될 수 있다. 이 때, 수광부가 발광부보다 면적이 더 넓어직 되므로, 수광부의 면적이 증가하고 수광영역이 확장되어 광 신호의 수신 감도가 증가될 수 있다.
또한, 360도 원형 수광부(도넛 형태)를 사용하는 경우, 제조상의 용이성이 증대되어 감지 장치의 생산성이 증가하는 장점이 있다. 그러나, 수광부의 형태는 원형과 도넛 형태에 국한되는 것은 아니며, 삼각형, 원형, 사각형, 육각형, 평행사변형 등 수광부가 발광부를 둘러싸는 가능한 모든 형태로 구현될 수도 있다.
한편, 본 발명의 감지 장치는, 수광부와 기판 사이에 형성되는 광 차폐층(260)을 더 포함할 수 있다. 도 3의 감지장치를 살펴볼 때, 수광부(240)는 그 광차폐층으로 도포되어 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 이는 발광부로부터 조사되는 광 신호가 직접 수광부에 닿는 것을 방지하기 위함이다. 이러한 신호들은 모두 결과적으로 크로스토크에 해당하는 신호들로서 향후 노이즈 신호로 분류되므로, 위와 같은 문제점을 극복하기 위하여, 수광부(240)의 일부를 광차폐층(260)으로 도포하여 원천적으로 발광부(230)로부터의 직접적인 광 신호를 차단하게 한다.
도 4a는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 감지 장치의 발광부와 수광부를 수직으로 내려다본 예시도이다.
도 4a를 참조하면, 본 발명의 수광부(240, 340, 440)는 발광부(230, 330, 430)의 중심축으로부터 기 설정된 거리 이내에 위치할 수 있다. 수광부가 발광부의 중심축으로부터 가까운 거리에 위치하게 됨으로써, 수광부와 발광부 사이의 거리가 감소하게 되므로 반응시간이 훨씬 더 단축될 수 있다. 이 때, 수광부의 중심축과 발광부의 중심축이 동일할 수도 있고, 제조 공정에서 설계할 때 가장 효과적인 거리를 설정하여 해당 거리만큼 이격되어 위치할 수도 있다.
또한, 발광부는 도 4a와 같이 원형으로, 수광부는 도넛 형태로 구성될 수 있다. 도 4a는 발광부와 수광부를 수직으로 위에서 내려다본 그림에 해당하며, 발광부의 크기가 수광부의 내부 공간의 크기와 동일할 수도 있고, 내부 공간의 크기보다 클 수도 있고, 내부 공간의 크기보다 작을 수도 있다.
도 4b는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 감지 장치의 수광부를 일정 영역으로 분할한 예시도이다.
도 4b를 참조하면, 본 발명에 따른 감지 장치는 제어부를 더 포함할 수 있는데, 제어부는 수광부가 생성한 광전류 신호를 수신하여, 기 설정된 조건에 따라 광전류 신호를 분석할 수 있다. 이 때, 제어부는 센서를 포함하는 전자 장치의 목적 및 사용 방법에 따라서 광전류 신호를 용도에 맞는 적절한 분석을 수행할 수 있다.
예를 들어, 발광부와 수광부를 포함하는 센서가 심박 센서인 경우, 발광부가 조사한 광 신호가 커버 글래스커버 기판 위에상에 위치하는 손가락/손목/팔목에서 흡수/반사되면, 흡수/반사된 광 신호를 수광부가 수신하여 수신한 광 신호의 세기에 따라서 광 전류를 발생하게 된다. 이 때, 심박 신호 센싱의 경우 발생된 광 전류 신호가 맥박에 따라서 강/약을 반복하게 되므로, 제어부는 광전류 신호의 강약 주기에 따라서 맥박을 측정할 수 있다. 이러한 제어부는 바람직하게는 상기 기판(210)에 구비된 집적회로(ASIC. Application Specific Integrated Circuit)의 형태로 구현될 수 있다.
또한, 본 발명의 감지 장치의 수광부는 기 설정된 일정 영역으로 분할하여, 상기 흡수 또는 반사된 광 신호를 수신한 영역 정보를 상기 제어부로 전송할 수 있으며, 제어부는 상기 영역 정보를 수신하고, 상기 수광부의 광 신호 수신 위치를 확인할 수 있다. 이 때, 수광부가 기 설정된 일정 영역으로 분할하는 경우, 사용자가 제어부를 이용한 제어로, 수광부를 적절한 모양으로 나눌 수 있다. 예를 들어, 사각형, 삼각형, 도넛 모양의 수광부를 3분할할 수도 있고, 4분할, 5분할, 2분할 등 사용자의 감지 장치 사용에 따라서 적절하게 분할할 수 있다.
예를 들어, 수광부(240)를 기 설정된 영역으로 나누어, 수광부 상층(271), 수광부 하측(272), 수광부 좌측(273), 수광부 우측(274)로 나눌 수 있다. 또한, 발광부(230)로부터 조사된 광 신호가 대상물에 반사되어 수광부 상층(271)에 감지되는 경우, 수광부 상층에 감지되었음을 나타내는 영역 정보를 제어부로 전송하고, 제어부는 수광부 상층에 광 신호가 수신되었음을 바로 확인할 수 있다.
한편, 도 5, 도 6은 본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른 감지 장치를 나타내는 구성도이며, 감지 장치의 발광부와 수광부를 수직으로 내려다본 예시도이다.
도 5, 도 6을 참조하면, 본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른 감지 장치는, 기판(310), 커버 기판(320), 발광부(330), 수광부(340)를 포함하고, 수광부는 발광부가 조사하는 광 신호가 통과할 수 있는 통과 영역을 포함할 수 있다. 수광부와 발광부가 수직으로 형성됨으로써, 공간적인 측면을 줄일 수 있으며, 발광부와 수광부 간의 거리를 짧게 하여 광 신호의 손실을 막을 수 있다. 이를 위하여, 발광부가 수직으로 조사하는 광 신호가 수광부를 꿰뚫고 지나갈 수 있도록 비어있는 통과 영역을 형성하도록 한다. 이 때, 통과 영역은 수광부 내부에 형성될 수도 있으며(ex; 도넛 모양), 수광부의 일정 부분을 파낸 모양(ex; 초승달 모양)으로 형성될 수도 있다.
또한, 기판 또는 커버기판의 상면 또는 하면에서 볼 때, 수광부는 발광부를 둘러싸는 형태로 배치될 수 있다. 자세하게, 수광부는 발광부와 오버랩되는 영역이 존재할 수 있다. 구체적으로 수광부 영역의 일부 또는 전부가 발광부의 영역과 오버랩 될 수 있다. 한편 수광부 영역은 발광부 영역과 오버랩되지 않을 수 있다. 구체적으로 수광부 영역은 발광부 영역 외에 존재할 수 있다. 또한 수광부 영역은 발광부 영역의 경계선에 닿아 형성될 수 있다.
한편, 본 발명의 감지 장치는, 광 차폐층(360)을 더 포함할 수 있다. 도 5 감지장치를 살펴볼 때, 수광부(340)는 그 광차폐층으로 도포되어 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 또한, 광 차폐층은 발광부로부터 조사되는 광 신호가 직접 수광부에 닿는 것을 방지하는 역할을 수행할 수 있다.
구체적으로, 도 5의 감지장치에 의하면, 수광부(340)는 대상물에 의해 반사된 광 신호뿐 아니라 발광부(330)에서 조사된, 반사되지 않은 광 신호까지도 직접 수신할 수가 있는데, 이러한 신호들은 모두 결과적으로 크로스토크에 해당하는 신호들로서 향후 노이즈 신호로 분류된다. 위와 같은 문제점을 극복하기 위하여, 수광부(340)의 일부를 광차폐층(360)으로 도포하여 원천적으로 발광부(330)로부터의 직접적인 광 신호를 차단하게 한다.
한편, 수광부(340)는 일부가 광차폐층(360)으로 형성되어, 더 구체적으로는 수광부(340)의 커버기판(320)과 마주보는 면 이외에 다른 면들이 광차폐층(360)으로 싸여 구현될 수도 있다. 다만 이 때 상기 수광부(340)를 이루는 세부구성 중 패드와의 연결을 위해 연장되어 커버기판(320)상에 형성된 전극층 영역에는 광차폐층(360)이 도포가 되지 않음을 이해해야 할 것이다.
도 6은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 감지 장치의 발광부와 수광부를 수직으로 내려다본 예시도이다.
도 6을 참조하면, 본 발명의 수광부(340)는 발광부(330)의 중심축(331)으로부터 기 설정된 거리 이내에 위치할 수 있다. 이 때, 수광부 및 발광부의 중심축은, 도 6에서 수직으로 내려간 중심축(331)과 같이, 기판을 위에서 수직으로 내려다 본 상태에서의 중심축을 말한다. 수광부가 발광부의 중심축으로부터 가까운 거리에 위치하게 됨으로써, 수광부와 발광부 사이의 거리가 감소하게 되므로 반응시간이 훨씬 더 단축될 수 있다. 이 때, 수광부의 중심축과 발광부의 중심축이 동일할 수도 있고, 제조 공정에서 설계할 때 가장 효과적인 거리를 설정하여 해당 거리만큼 이격되어 위치할 수도 있다.
또한, 기 설정된 거리는 발광부의 중심축으로부터 수직한 방향에서 설정된 거리를 말하며, 기판과 평행한 면에서 기 설정된 거리를 가지고 수광부가 위치할 수 있다. 이는 후술하는 바와 같이, 수광부가 통과 영역을 형성함으로써 일정한 부분을 비워 놓은 상태에서 형성되어야 하기 때문에, 일정한 거리를 두고 위치하는 것이 바람직하다.
또한, 발광부는 도 6과 같이 원형으로, 수광부는 도넛 형태로 구성될 수 있다. 도 6은 발광부와 수광부를 수직으로 위에서 내려다본 그림에 해당하며, 발광부의 크기가 수광부의 내부 공간의 크기와 동일할 수도 있고, 내부 공간의 크기보다 클 수도 있고, 내부 공간의 크기보다 작을 수도 있다. 또한, 수광부는 도넛 형태에 국한되지 않고 가능한 모든 형태로 구현될 수도 있다. 또한, 상기 수광부의 면적은, 상기 발광부의 면적보다 더 넓은 것을 특징으로 하며, 수광부의 면적이 더 넓게 되므로 광 신호의 수신 효율과 감도가 증가하는 효과가 존재한다.
도 7은 본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른 감지 장치를 나타내는 구성도이다.
도 7을 참조하면, 본 발명의 감지 장치는, 레진층(370)을 더 포함할 수 있다. 이 때, 레진층은 발광부와 수광부 사이에 형성되며, 상기 커버 기판, 상기 발광부, 상기 수광부, 상기 레진층은 일체화하여 형성되어 발광부와 수광부 사이의 거리를 감소시키고 반응시간을 단축시킬 수 있다. 또한, 레진층은 커버 기판 상에 형성되는 수광부를 지탱해 주는 역할을 수행하므로 고장의 빈도를 더욱 줄일 수 있는 장점이 있다.
도 8은 본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른 감지 장치의 수광부를 일정 영역으로 분할한 예시도이다.
도 8을 참조하면, 본 발명에 따른 감지 장치는 제어부를 더 포함할 수 있는데, 제어부는 수광부가 생성한 광전류 신호를 수신하여, 기 설정된 조건에 따라 광전류 신호를 분석할 수 있다. 이 때, 제어부는 센서를 포함하는 전자 장치의 목적 및 사용 방법에 따라서 광전류 신호를 용도에 맞는 적절한 분석을 수행할 수 있다. 또한, 도 8은 도 4b와 같이 감지 장치의 수광부가 일정 영역으로 분할하여 감지 영역을 판단하고, 영역 정보를 제어부로 전송하도록 한다. 이에 대한 상세한 설명은 도 4b를 참조하기로 한다.
예를 들어, 발광부와 수광부를 포함하는 센서가 심박 센서인 경우, 발광부가 조사한 광 신호가 커버 글래스커버 기판 위에상에 위치하는 손가락/손목/팔목에서 흡수/반사되면, 흡수/반사된 광 신호를 수광부가 수신하여 수신한 광 신호의 세기에 따라서 광 전류를 발생하게 된다. 이 때, 심박 신호 센싱의 경우 발생된 광 전류 신호가 맥박에 따라서 강/약을 반복하게 되므로, 제어부는 광전류 신호의 강약 주기에 따라서 맥박을 측정할 수 있다. 이러한 제어부는 바람직하게는 상기 기판에 구비된 집적회로(ASIC. Application Specific Integrated Circuit)의 형태로 구현될 수 있다.
한편, 도 9, 도 10a, 도 10b, 도 10c, 도 10d, 도 11은 본 발명의 또다른 실시예에 따른 감지 장치를 나타내는 예시도이다.
본 발명의 또다른 실시예에 따른 감지 장치는, 이와 같이 종래의 포토다이오드가 가지고 있는 단점을 해소하기 위하여, 기존의 근접 센서의 편향된 수광 영역을 광원을 기준으로 하여 전 영역으로 확장하고, 수광부의 면적을 증가시켜 수신 감도를 증가시킬 수 있는 감지 장치에 관한 것으로서, 이하 도 9를 참조하여 상세히 살펴보기로 한다.
도 9, 도 10a, 도 10b, 도 10c, 도 10d를 참조하면, 수광부(440)는 발광부(430) 상에 형성되어, 발광부(430)가 대상물에 조사하는 제1 광 신호(431)가 통과할 수 있는 광 투과 패턴 및 제2 광 신호(432)를 수신하는 수광 패턴을 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명의 수광부는 유기 박막 포토다이오드로 구성되며, 유기 박막 포토다이오드는 투명 기판 상에 여러 개의 전극과 활성화층, 버퍼층 등으로 형성하게 되는데, 전극에 제2 광 신호가 도달하게 되면 광전류 신호가 생성되어 감지하게 되는 것이다. 이 때, 이러한 전극의 형상이 여러 모양의 수광 패턴으로 형성될 수 있어, 수광부의 수광 패턴을 자신이 원하는 모양으로 형성할 수 있다.
또한, 투명 기판 상에 전극이 형성되지 않은 부분은 그대로 투명 기판으로 남게 되는데, 이 부분은 별도의 패턴을 형성하지 않더라도, 수광 패턴의 형성에 따라 투명 기판의 남은 부분이 패턴 모양처럼 보이게 된다. 예를 들어, 도 10b를 참조하면, 투명 기판에 메쉬 형상으로 수광 패턴(441)을 형성하게 되면, 수광 패턴이 없는 다른 부분은 그냥 투명 기판 그 자체이지만 정사각형이 행렬을 이루어 정렬된 모양으로 광 투과 패턴(442)을 형성하게 되는 것이다.
따라서, 수광부의 투명 기판에 제1 전극, 제2 전극 등 여러 전극의 형태를 통해 이루어지는 수광 패턴과, 투명 기판에서 수광 패턴을 형성할 때 형성되는 투명 부분이 광 투과 패턴을 형성하게 되며, 수광 패턴과 광 투과 패턴은 여러 형태를 만들어낼 수 있다. 따라서, 발광부에서 제1 광 신호를 조사하면 수광부의 광 투과 패턴을 거쳐 대상물에 도달하게 되고, 대상물에 흡수 또는 반사된 제2 광 신호가 다시 수광부에 도달하여, 수광부의 수광 패턴에 의하여 빛을 감지하게 된다.
이 때, 수광부의 수광 패턴은 이격된 다수의 패턴 조각을 포함하여 일정한 간격과 형상을 가지고 배열될 수도 있으며, 패턴 형상이 랜덤 또는 의사-랜덤으로 이루어져 불규칙적인 간격과 형상을 가지고 배열될 수도 있다. 또한, 수광부의 수광 패턴은 메쉬 형상으로 형성되어, 메쉬 형상의 개구부를 통하여 제1 광 신호가 통과하도록 할 수도 있다. 이로 인하여, 발광부와 수광부 사이의 거리가 감소하고, 광 신호의 수신 감도 및 센싱 반응 속도가 증가될 수 있으며, 제조상의 용이성이 증대되어 감지 장치의 생산성이 증가하는 장점이 있다.
수광 패턴은 수광부의 투명 기판상에 형성되는 제1 전극 및 제2 전극으로 이루어질 수 있으며, 전극을 통하여 제2 광 신호를 수신함으로써 감지할 수 있다. 또한, 광 투과 영역(442)는 수광부가 형성되는 투명 기판 또는 그 외 기타 광 투과성 물질로 이루어지므로, 발광부가 대상물에 조사하는 제1 광 신호가 통과할 수 있다.
도 10a를 참조하면, 본 발명의 감지 장치는 수광부(440)의 수광 패턴이 이격된 다수의 패턴 조각을 포함하여, 이 때 다수의 수광 패턴간 이격되어 있는 패턴을 통하여 제1 광 신호가 통과할 수 있다. 다수의 패턴 조각은 도 10a와 같이 행렬 형태로 각각이 분리된 형태를 형성할 수도 있으며, 감지 장치의 설계자가 필요로 하는 구성에 따라서 규칙적/불규칙적인 이격 영역을 형성할 수도 있다.
도 10b, 도 10c, 도 10d를 참조하면, 본 발명의 감지 장치는, 수광부의 수광 패턴이 메쉬 형상이며 메쉬 형상의 개구부를 통하여 제1 광 신호가 통과할 수 있다. 메쉬 형상의 개구부(442)는, 실질적으로 제2 광 신호를 감지하도록 하는 수광 패턴(441)이 수광부(440)에 형성되지 않은 영역(442)을 말하며, 도 10b와 같이 삼각형 형태, 도 10c와 같이 정사각형 또는 직사각형 형태, 도 10d와 같이 육각형 형태로 이루어질 수 있다. 또한, 메쉬 형상의 개구부가 각각 서로 다른 모양을 가지고 이루어질 수도 있고, 사각형/삼각형의 복합 패턴 등 감지 장치의 설계자가 필요로 하는 다양한 메쉬 개구부의 형상을 사용하여 이루어질 수 있다.
한편, 본 발명의 감지 장치는, 수광부와 기판 사이에 형성되는 광 차폐층을 더 포함할 수 있다. 본 발명의 감지장치를 살펴볼 때, 발광부가 수광부를 통과하여 제1 광 신호를 조사하게 되므로, 수광부가 제1 광 신호를 직접 감지하게 되는 문제점이 생길 수 있다.
이러한 신호들은 모두 결과적으로 크로스토크에 해당하는 신호들로서 향후 노이즈 신호로 분류되므로, 위와 같은 문제점을 극복하기 위하여, 수광부(440)의 일부 또는 바람직하게는 수광부의 수광 패턴에 해당하는 영역을 광차폐층으로 형성하여 원천적으로 발광부(430)로부터의 직접적인 광 신호를 차단하게 한다.
도 11은 본 발명의 또다른 실시예에 따른 감지 장치의 수광부가 일정 영역으로 분할되어 제어부가 감지 영역을 판단하는 구성을 나타내는 예시도이다. 도 11은 도 4b 및 도 8과 같이 감지 장치의 수광부가 일정 영역으로 분할하여 감지 영역을 판단하고, 영역 정보를 제어부로 전송하도록 한다. 이에 대한 상세한 설명은 도 4b를 참조하기로 한다.
한편, 본 발명은 심박 센서에도 적용될 수 있다. 이 때, 심장이 뛸 때마다 피부 속에서 피가 움직이기 때문에 손가락/손바닥/신체의 투명도가 조금씩 변하게 되며, 제2 광 신호가 달라지게 되므로 수광부가 생성하는 광전류 신호의 크기가 달라지게 되어, 심장이 얼마나 빠른 속도로 뛰고 있는지 계산할 수 있다.
위에서 설명된 본 발명의 실시 예들은 예시의 목적을 위해 개시된 것이며, 이들에 의하여 본 발명이 한정되는 것은 아니다. 또한, 본 발명에 대한 기술 분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 본 발명의 사상과 범위 안에서 다양한 수정 및 변경을 가할 수 있을 것이며, 이러한 수정 및 변경은 본 발명의 범위에 속하는 것으로 보아야 할 것이다.

Claims (10)

  1. 기판;
    상기 기판 상에 형성되며, 광 신호를 조사하는 발광부;
    상기 기판 상에 형성되며, 상기 발광부에서 조사되어 대상물로부터 흡수 또는 반사된 광 신호를 수신하는 수광부;
    를 포함하고,
    상기 수광부는, 상기 발광부를 둘러싸는 형태의 유기 박막 포토다이오드인 감지 장치.
  2. 제 1항에 있어서,
    상기 수광부와 상기 기판 사이에 형성되는 광 차폐층;
    을 더 포함하는 감지 장치.
  3. 제 1항에 있어서,
    상기 발광부 또는 상기 수광부가 배치될 수 있는 공간을 형성하는 격벽;
    을 더 포함하는 감지 장치.
  4. 기판;
    상기 기판 상에 형성되는 커버 기판;
    상기 기판 상에 형성되며, 상기 커버 기판에 광 신호를 조사하는 발광부;
    상기 커버 기판 상에 형성되며, 상기 발광부가 조사하는 광 신호가 상기 커버 기판 상의 대상물에 흡수 또는 반사되는 경우, 상기 흡수 또는 반사된 광 신호를 수신하는 수광부;

  5. 제 4항에 있어서,
    상기 발광부는 대상물에 제1 광 신호를 조사하며,
    상기 수광부는 상기 대상물로부터 흡수 또는 반사된 제2 광 신호를 수신하며,
    상기 대상물은 상기 수광부 상에 위치하며,
    상기 수광부는 상기 제1 광 신호가 통과할 수 있는 광 투과 패턴 및 상기 제2 광 신호를 수신하는 수광 패턴을 포함하는 유기 박막 포토다이오드인 것을 특징으로 하는 감지 장치.
  6. 제 5항에 있어서,
    상기 수광 패턴은,
    이격된 다수의 패턴 조각을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 감지 장치.
  7. 제 5항에 있어서,
    상기 수광 패턴은,
    패턴 형상이 랜덤 또는 의사-랜덤인 것을 특징으로 하는 감지 장치.
  8. 제 1항 또는 제 4항에 있어서,
    상기 수광부는,
    상기 기판 상에 적층된 제1 전극;
    상기 제1 전극 상에 적층된 활성화 층;
    상기 활성화 층 상에 적층된 제2 전극; 및
    상기 활성화 층 및 상기 제1 전극 사이에 적층된 버퍼층;
    을 포함하는 감지 장치.
  9. 제 1항 또는 제 4항에 있어서,
    상기 수광부는 일정 영역으로 분할하여, 흡수 또는 반사된 광 신호를 수신한 영역 정보를 제어부로 전송하는 감지 장치.
  10. 제 1항 또는 제 4항에 있어서,
    상기 수광부의 중심축과, 상기 발광부의 중심축은 동일한 감지 장치.
