Abstract

Implementations described herein generally relate to methods for transient testing of subterranean reservoirs and oil wells containing both water and hydrocarbons, and more particularly to transient testing completed with a water-cut meter, which determines reservoir and well parameters for improved well productivity. According to one implementation described herein, a method (200) for producing a well is provided. The method comprises (210) inducing a step-rate change in a total liquid flow rate (qt) of a multiphase reservoir fluid, (220) measuring a water-oil ratio (WOR) transient following the step- rate change using a water-cut meter, (240) defining a total liquid rate-WOR sensitivity model using the water-oil transient and (260) generating wellhead performance curves based on the total liquid rate-WOR sensitivity model.
