Abstract

The manhole lock is designed in such a manner as to secure any undesired opening of the road manhole with the aim of preventing terrorism act and theft of the cover. It is constructed in such a manner as to secure unhindered passage of vehicles and it is protected against penetration of water and any impurities. As safety element it has a seal visible from the passing vehicles.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
TECHNICAL FIELD
This invention relates to the lock primarily designed for locking the carriageway manhole covers, but it can also be used in other situations when a heavy lock with safety seal is needed.
According to the International Patent Classification (IPC) in the technical field E05B it is defined as the device for unlocking or locking any part for which a key or permutation mechanism is required.
TECHNICAL PROBLEM (for solution of which patent application is requested)
Technical problem is to make a lock to be installed in the manhole cover, which will solve the following problems:
• Bearing capacity (to endure pressure which might be caused by a wheel passing over a manhole);
• Watertightness (not to permit water, salt and any other filth to enter the lock mechanism);
• Sealing (to be sealed in such a manner that it is impossible to establish whether somebody has tried to unlock the lock);
• Visibility (the seal to be visible from a car passing by the manhole).
BACKGROUND ART (illustration and analysis of the known solutions for the defined technical problem)
Today different types of locks are in use, but neither of them with its structure solves above mentioned problems. Browsing the patent register of the State Intel lectual Property Office (SIPO) for the enquiry "lock" 39 records have been found.
DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION (in such a manner that the technical problem and its solution can be understood, and specifying technical news of the invention compared with the previous Background Art)
Drawing 1 shows the lock with the following basic elements: lock seal 1 , with the removal handle 2, lock body 3 and slide valve 4.
In the lock body 3 there is lock rotor 5 (Drawing 2) having on it a triangular lug 12 and coaxial grooves 13. In the grooves 13 of the rotor 5, there are sliders 7, having on them lugs 8. Sliders 7 are pushed by the spring 1 1 and because of that they are in upper position. By their lugs 8, sliders 7 are inserted into grooves 9 placed at the internal side of the lock body 3 and they are coaxial with the body. Lock rotor 5 cannot be swivelled relative to the lock body 3, because the sliders 7 with their body are placed in the grooves 13 of the rotor and with its lug 8 simultaneously in the body grooves 9.
The lock key 14 (Drawing 2) has a triangular whole 15 on it, which with its shape and size corresponds to the triangular lug 12, on the lock rotor 5. The triangular lug 12 of the lock rotor 5 can enter the triangular whole 15 of the lock key 14. On the lock key 14 there are also grooves 16, having various length. The grooves 16 are positioned in such a manner that when lock key 14 is put on the lock rotor 5 it pushes sliders 7. The grooves 16 have exactly such length allowing them to push sliders 7 into such position that grooves 8 come into rotary groove 10 of the lock body 3. Rotary groove 10 is dug from the internal side of the lock 3 and it is vertical to its axis. Owing to the fact that grooves 8 of the slider 7 have come to the space of groove 10, it is possible to swivel the lock rotor 5 relative to the lock body 3.
Any other key 14, whose grooves 16 are not having adequate length, cannot unlock the lock.
When lock rotor 5 is rotated by the key 14 into its initial position and key 14 is taken out, the lock is locked again. Springs 1 1 that are installed on the spring support 21 (Drawing 2) then lift the sliders 7 into initial position. Springs support 21 is fixed relative to lock rotor 5, so that it cannot be turned relative to it. Spring guides 22 are embedded into the spring support 21 , as can be seen in Drawing 3.
Securing against repeated unlocking is made by inserting the lock seal 1 into the lock body 3. Lock seal 1 has dual function. On the one hand it serves as a cover which prevents penetration of water, salt and any other impurities into the lock mechanism. On the other hand it secures that the lock cannot be reached by the key 14, in order for it to be unlocked. Namely, when with the aid of the seal handle 2, an attempt is made to take out the lock seal 1 from the lock body it is broken along spiral notch 20 on the body, as can be seen in Drawing 4. The seal 1 broken in such way cannot be put again into the lock body 3, without being seen that it is broken. This function of the lock seal 1 is significant on those manholes that, out of security reasons, before passing of the secured vehicle convoy must be inspected, locked and sealed.
Slide valve 4 from Drawing 1 is fixed to the lock rotor 5 and cannot be swivelled relative to the rotor 5. By swivelling the rotor 5 the slide valve 4 is also swivelled, thus locking manhole cover 17 relative to the manhole body 18, as can be seen in Drawing 5.

a) Detailed description of at least one of the modes for carrying out of the invention
The lock is primarily designed to serve for locking of carriageway manholes, as seen in Drawing 5. Locking of manholes is required to secure the manholes against terrorism acts and widespread thefts.
It is installed into the cover body 17, in such a manner to be below the level of its upper surface. This is done in order to make it impossible for the wheel pressure to be transferred to the lock. The cover body 17, as can be seen in Drawing 5, on the opposite side from the lock of the cover 17 has the hinge 23, by which it is tied to the manhole frame 18 or lug 19, thus making it impossible for the cover of the manhole 17 to be lifted at that side.

BEST MODE(S) FOR CARRYING OUT OF THE INVENTION
The invention is applied to carriageway manholes to enable locking thereof with the aim of preventing terrorism act and thefts. It can be also applied at other places where a heavy lock with or without a seal is needed.

Claims

1 . The lock characterised in that the lock rotor 5 is installed into the lock body 3, which on its top has triangular lug 12, and on its body it has coaxial rotor grooves 13, into which sliders 7 are placed, together with the lugs 8, pushed by springs 1 1.
2. The lock, as claimed in claim I, characterised in that the lugs 8 of the slider 7 are placed in the grooves 9 of the lock body 3, and can move across them up to the rotary groove 10, pushed by lugs of the key 16.
3. The lock, as claimed in claims I and II, characterised in that the lugs 8 on the slider 7 are positioned in such a manner that the key lugs 16, having various lengths, push them exactly to the position of the rotary groove 10 of the lock body 3, thus enabling the lock rotor 5 to swivel relative to the lock body 3 and the lock to be unlocked.
4. The lock, as claimed in claims I, II and III, characterised in that it has the seal 1, with spiral notches 20 and the handle for seal removal 2 installed into the lock body 3, in such a manner that it is broken when taken out and cannot be installed any more.
