DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
Before explaining at least one embodiment in detail, it is to be understood that the subject matter is not limited in its application to the details of construction and the arrangement of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The subject matter is capable of other embodiments or of being practiced or carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting. In
discussion of the various figures described herein below, like numbers refer to like parts. The drawings are generally not to scale.
For clarity, non-essential elements were omitted from some of the drawings.
In accordance with a preferred embodiment, a 2D structure is provided to be placed adjacent to a wall, wherein the structure comprises a plurality of parts, wherein at least some of said plurality of parts are configured to be separated from the 2D structure and be connected so as to form a 3D structure, and vice versa.
Fig. 1 illustrates a picture hung on a wall, according to an exemplary embodiment. The subject matter was built and is shown as follows: Picture 10 is built of a baseboard (cannot be seen in Figure 1 since it is concealed, but will be shown in Figure 2 and 3) that forms a base onto which parts 12 are attached to. Parts 12 are preferably made of any material that is rigid enough so as to be transformed into firm furniture. The parts are preferably made of boards of the foresaid material having a thickness that will suffice the firmness of the furniture. Optionally, the width f the board is preferably between 10-20 mm.
Examples of materials that are rigid enough to form the parts are wooden boards, plastic boards, metallic boards and/or a combination thereof.
Preferably, the 2D structure and the parts that build it are flat; however, some curvature can be made to the structure.
Preferably, the boards are having straight surfaces without any protrusions; however, optionally, small protrusions can be formed on appropriate parts of the board.
Preferably, the parts are cut from one complete and single board from which parts 12 are cut and frame 14 stays intact and attached to the base board.
Parts 12 can be attached to the base board using various techniques such as magnetic techniques, scotches, clips, connectors without limiting the scope of the present subject matter. The connecting techniques should take into account the weight of the parts that should be hung and influenced by gravitational forces.
It should be noticed that the picture is a 2D picture that can be hung on a wall.
Reference is now made to Figure 2 illustrating a user removing one of the parts of the picture, according to an exemplary embodiment. One of parts 12 is being dismantled from the baseboard by a user, exposing baseboard 11. Part 12 has slits 18 shaped and carved in a way that will assist the user to build up furniture as will be shown herein after. The remaining of the slit stays on the baseboard as will be shown in the next figure.
Reference is now made to Figure 3 illustrating a baseboard of the picture as left on the wall, according to an exemplary embodiment. Baseboard 11 that carried the parts 12 (one of which can be seen disassembled), is being exposed and vacant from the parts. Remaining attached to baseboard 11 in a permanent connection are the frame 14 and protrusions 16. The protrusions are portions carved of the board, which comprises the picture, that fill the slits when the picture is assembled onto baseboard 11.
After all the parts 12 are disassembled, they can be built into 3D furniture.
Reference is now made to figures 4 and 5 illustrating two options of 3D furniture built out of some or all of the parts that form the picture, according to exemplary embodiments. In Figure 4, a relative low table is built. As can be seen, slits 18 are designed to have a width that accord the width of the parts or the whole board from which the parts and the slits are carved. In this way, parts 12 can be interconnected to form firm-enough furniture. As seen in the figure, parts 12A and 12B are threaded through the X shaped slits 18 in the table board so as to form legs onto which the table is supported.
In Figure 5, another configuration of table is produced in which the table is relatively higher. The parts 12A and 12B again form legs that support the table formed from part 12, however, on all parts 12A and 12B length. Additional support can be provided in this case in order to form a firm table.
Reference is now made to Figure 6 illustrating a picture according to another exemplary embodiment. Similarly to the other embodiment shown herein before, 2D picture 20 is made of carved parts 22 configured and designed to form 3D furniture as will be shown hereinafter. Parts 22 are provided with carved slits 26 that will be used in order to connect
parts 22 when assembled into the furniture, in a similar, however, different manner than in the previous shown embodiment. In this case also, the width of slits 26 accords the width of the board from which parts 22 are made of. Reference is now made to Figure 7 illustrating the picture shown in Figure 6, colored to form artistic picture. The 2D picture shown in the figure is the same picture shown in Figure 6, however, optionally, the parts and the frame can be colored in an artistic manner that can disguise the fact that the picture is intended to be disassembled in any manner and to be transformed into something else than a 2D picture. It provides the impression that the picture is indeed an artistic picture to hang on a wall.
It should be emphasized that it is optional to use magnetic force in order to hold parts 22 onto the baseboard. Preferably, the baseboard is made of a metallic material that can attract magnets or a layer of magnetic material can be attached to the board. The parts can be provided with attached straps of magnetic material that will hold the parts on the baseboard.
Optionally, magnetic material can be embedded or attached to or within the material from which the board is made of so as to stick to the baseboard. Other connection methods can be employed without limiting the scope of the subject matter.
Reference is now made to Figure 8 illustrating furniture built of the parts that form the picture shown in Figure 6.
Firm table 30 and chair 32 are formed from the parts of the 2D picture shown in Figure 6. The parts are connected using edges of the parts that enter the designed slits so as to form a firm structure that can be used preferably by children. It is appreciated that certain features of the subject matter, which are, for clarity, described in the context of separate embodiments, may also be provided in combination in a single embodiment. Conversely, various features of the subject matter, which are, for brevity, described in the context of a single embodiment, may also be provided separately or in any suitable sub combination.
Although the subject matter has been described in conjunction with specific embodiments thereof, it is evident that many alternatives, modifications and variations will be apparent to those skilled in the art. Accordingly, it is intended to embrace all such alternatives, modifications and variations that fall within the spirit and broad scope of the appended claims.
