Description
PRODUCTION OF CAST WHEEL RIM BY PUMPING METHOD
DESCRIPTION
The Related Art
The invention relates to production of wheel rims by a pumping system, which are produced in the prior art applications with the help of increasing air pressure in a furnace. The Prior Art
In the prior art, wheel rims are manufactured by low pressure casting method. In the low pressure casting method, the metal is fed from below, from a chamber where the temperature is controlled. Low pressure (about 0.1 MPa) is applied above the chamber in order to allow the metal to fill into the mould that is found at a higher position than this chamber. Usually air is used for this pressure and therefore this air may occasionally cause formation of oxides. And this negatively affects liquid metal quality. Some other reasons for oxide formation are listed below:
1 ) Formation of turbulence during transfer
2) Oxidation of the metal in the furnace that is continuously in contact with air 3) Difficulty of cleaning the furnace
4) Difficulty of ensuring circulation of old metal
5) Formation of refractories
Even though oxide formation is at very low levels in this method, oxidation still occurs due to the above given reasons.
In the abstract page of the similar application with No. TR200302063, encountered as a result of prior art research, it is disclosed that: "The invention is a method for manufacturing a threaded cast wheel rim by means of casting in a casting tool made of a light metal, wherein production of the product is performed by placing a pre-shaped metal foam core part in the casting tool and fixing therein with the help of positioning components, and then casting around it with light metal". This application also covers the machine by which this method is applied. As a result, the above said drawbacks and the inadequacy of the prior art solutions about the subject have necessitated an improvement in the related technical field.
Purpose of the Invention
The primary purpose of the invention is to eliminate possible errors, problems, and failures during production due to air pressure, by means of preventing entrance of air into the mould. A purpose of the invention is to ensure filling of the mould by means of a pump system, instead of filling it via pressure by providing air.
Another purpose of the invention is to prevent possible oxidation by preventing contact of hot metal with air.
Another purpose of the invention is to prevent formation of particles as a result of oxidation, in addition to solving the oxidation problem.
In order to achieve the above said purposes, the invention comprises a metal pump which ensures filling of metal into the mould, a metal retention workbench used for routing the metal into the mould, a feeder tube ensuring transfer of metal within the foundry, a driver control system ensuring operation and control
of the pump, and an operator panel on which parameters and conditions are entered.
The structural and characteristic features of the invention and all of its advantages shall be understood better with the figures and the detailed description given below in reference to the figures, and therefore, the assessment should be made by taking into account the said figures and detailed explanations.

Detailed Description of the Invention
Figure 1 shows a schematic view of the wheel rim production system (1 ) comprising a mould body (6.1 ) where the desired wheel rim form is given and
which consists of an upper mould (6.2) and a lower mould (6.3), and a dispatch station (8) from where the raw material is dispatched to said mould body (6.1 ). It comprises a feeder tube (3) ensuring dispatch of raw material to said mould body (6.1 ) and a pump (7) ensuring pumping of raw material to the mould (6) by means of said feeder tube (3).
It comprises a driver control system (4) ensuring operation and control of the pump (7) according to the invention and an operator panel (5) on which predetermined parameters in accordance with said mould (6) are entered by a user. On the other hand, it comprises a metal retention workbench (2) in which said pump (7) and feeder tube (3) are configured and raw material is retained.
The operator panel (5) covers all production parameters. Parameters are entered by the user in accordance with the wheel rim casting mould (6) connected to the system. The entered parameters include speed, time, cooling, temperature, and filling data. The parameters also vary according to the types of wheel rims. These data are then sent to the driver control system (4) through the operator panel (5). These data are converted to correct data by the driver control system (4). The operating speed of the pump (7) is set according to the received data. The pump (7) starts to operate and directs the metal found at the metal retaining workbench (2) to the feeder tube (3). The metal feeder tube (3) advancing with the operation of the pump (7) raises and fills in the mould (6). Afterwards, it is kept in the metal mould (6) for a suitable period of time to the parameters entered to the operator panel (5). After the casting operation is complete, it is discharged back into the metal retention workbench (2) found in the feeder tube (3) with the help of the pump (7), the wheel rim mould (6) is opened and the product is obtained.
