Abstract

The object of this invention is a tool for removing fastening elements with a head on a shank. The tool for removing fastening elements according to this invention consists of an inner clamping barrel, on which gripping elements are located on its one end (inside the outer housing) and outer clamping holders are mounted on the other end. The device has been additionally equipped with a rack and ratchet system that locks the clamping of a gripper on a head of screw.

Description

TOOL FOR REMOVING FASTENING ELEMENTS
Known are the tools of this type to remove fastening elements, the use of which requires an additional tool to make it into action, such as a hammer or a wrench. There are no devices that may act unassisted.
Polish Patent No. PL 185793 B1 presents a tool to remove headed fastening elements, that includes an extended member with its end that has a pair of tips to be coupled with heads of fastening elements, wherein a clamping barrel is connected to the stem; the clamping barrel is equipped with a first set of jaws for embedding and for slipped mounting of clamping barrel on the stem, and the second set of jaws that extend along the ends of the stem, adjustable to these ends.
From the description of US Patent No. 2 103 944, known is a tool to drive fasteners that takes a form of a screwdriver with an elongated stem ended with a socket equipped with grooves that match the teeth on the heads of fasteners.
From the description of US Patent No. 4 4 800 787, known is a tool to drive fasteners that takes a form of a screwdriver with an elongated stem ended with a socket equipped with a thread that fits a thread that projects on fringes of fastener heads.
From the description of US Patent No. 4 429 599 , known is a tool to drive fasteners that takes a form of a screwdriver with an elongated stem with an end equipped with a pair of wedge-shaped tips that match the protrusions on the heads of fasteners.
From the description of US Patent No. 3 735 650, it is known a tool to remove tool fastening elements that takes a form screwdriver with a long shank that has three clamping tips at its end, acting under the effect of an external force (e.g. a wrench) on a clamp bold located on the other end of the device.
All the above-described tools are characterised by very minor application versatility, because they require either a specially designed mounting component, or the use of an additional tool to actuate the primary device.
The tool for removing fastening elements according to the invention consists of an inner clamping barrel, favourably made of steel, located inside the outer housing, to which outer coupling holders are mounted that are made of steel profiles bent of both sides. These holders are coupled with the inner clamping barrel with plates and pins in a manner that allows the barrel to be moved alongside the axis inside the outer sleeve, on the end of which a gripper of fastening elements has been located, favourably equipped with longitudinal notches to grasp the head to be removed. Inner barrel movement initiates the action of gripper that triggers clamping it on the head of the fastener that is to be removed. The gripper tips have been equipped with notches on all of the ends which allow efficient and effective gripping of a fastening piece - the head. Additionally, the device has been additionally equipped with a rack and ratchet system that locks the clamping of gripper on the head of screw. Such solution causes that the user will not have to act on the tool with a constant power, but only clamp it at the right time, and the latch locks the grip in a relevant position. The device clamped in such way grips the head of extracted element and allows it to be removed effectively. Unlocking your device takes place by releasing the lock. The return to the initial state, i.e. the open gripper, is triggered by an additional spring located between the inner barrel and the outer housing.
The device according to this invention is a universal solution. It has a wide range of possibilities and applications as a tool for the removal of the different types of fasteners: screws, nails, threads etc. It is favourably made of hot dip galvanised steel powder coated to any colour, which provides rigidity and stability of the structure. The presented invention modifies in a significant way the standard solution by introducing the ability to use with the appliance with one hand, while locking the system in the clamped position. This tool is designed to remove fasteners with diameter head from 5mm to 10mm.
The object of this invention is illustrated in exemplary embodiments, where: Fig. 1 shows axonometric views of the tool for removing fasteners in its open position, Fig. 2 shows axonometric views of the tool for removing fasteners in its closed position, Fig. 3 illustrates the axonometric view broken down into the individual system components, Fig. 4 presents a side view of the tool in its open position, Fig. 5 presents a cross-section of the tool in its open position, Fig. 6 shows a cross-section of the tool through its rack and ratchet system in the open position, Fig. 7 is a side view of the tool in its closed position, Fig. 8 is a cross-section of the tool through its rack and ratchet system in the closed position, Fig. 9 presents a cross-section of the tool in its closed position, Fig. 10 presents a front view of the tool in its closed position, Fig. 11 illustrates a front view of the tool in its open position.
The tool for removing fastening elements according to the invention consists of an inner clamping barrel [1] located inside an outer housing [4] (both made preferably of hot dip galvanised steel), to which outer coupling holders [5] are mounted. These holders [5] are attached to the inner clamping barrel [1] using plates [6] and pins [7] and mounting bolts (8) in a manner that allows the barrel to move axially inside the outer housing [4], on the end of which a gripper of fastening elements [2] has been located, favourably ended with grooves [12]. Inner barrel movement [1] initiates the action of gripper [2] that triggers clamping the outer elements with grooves [12] on the head of the fastener to be removed. The gripper tips [2] have been equipped with grooves [12] on all of the tips that allow efficient and effective gripping of a fastening piece. Additionally, the device has been additionally equipped with a rack and ratchet system that locks the clamping of gripper on the head of screw. This system is equipped with a linear rack [13] located on the inner barrel [1], a system of trigger (10) attached to the outer housing [4and to the trigger alone [9]. Such solution causes that the user will not have to act on the tool with a constant power, but only clamp it at the right time, and the latch locks the grip in a relevant position. Unlocking the device takes place by releasing the lock by trigger [9]. The return to the initial state, i.e. to the open gripper, is triggered by an additional spring [3] located between the inner barrel [1] and the outer housing [4].
