一実施形態に係る電池モジュール10は、ケース20に収容される。電池モジュールは、複数の電池セル50と、複数の電池セル50の各々に対して設けられており、複数の電池セル50を放熱させるための複数の伝熱部材70と、を備える。複数の電池セル50は、電池セル50の第1側面553と交差する方向に並設されている。複数の伝熱部材70の各々は、電池セル50の第2側面であって第1側面553と交差する第2側面551に対向すると共に、電池モジュールが収容されるケース20の第1内壁面215aに熱的に接触する第1伝熱部72と、第1伝熱部72に熱的に接続されており、電池セル50の第3側面552に対向すると共に、上記ケースにおける第1内壁面と交差する第2内壁面211aに熱的に接触する第2伝熱部73と、を含む。

Description

電池モジュール及び電池パック
 本発明は、電池モジュール及び電池パックに関する。
 従来より、並設された複数の電池セルを含む電池モジュールと、複数の電池モジュールを収容する筐体(ケース)とを備える電池パックが知られている。
 例えば、下記特許文献1に記載された電池パックでは、放熱性を確保するため、隣り合う電池セルの間に、伝熱プレートが介装されている。伝熱プレートは、電池セルに接触する本体と、本体の両端から本体の厚さ方向に向かって延びる一対の延設部とからなる。一対の延設部のうちの一方の延設部は電池パックのケース内に露出し、他方の延設部は電池パックのケースに接合されている。

 特許文献1に記載された電池パックでは、電池セルで発生した熱は、伝熱プレートの本体によって吸収される。伝熱プレートの本体の熱は、伝熱プレートのうち電池パックのケースに接合された延設部を介して上記ケースに伝導し、電池パックの外部に放出される。このように特許文献1の技術においても電池モジュール(具体的には、電池セル)の熱を放熱可能であるが、近年、更なる放熱性能の向上が求められている。
 本発明は、放熱性能の向上が可能な電池モジュール及び電池パックを提供する。
 本発明の一側面に係る電池モジュールは、ケースに収容される電池モジュールであって、複数の電池セルと、複数の電池セルの各々に対して熱的に接続される複数の伝熱部材と、を備え、複数の電池セルは、電池セルの第1側面と交差する方向に並設されており、複数の伝熱部材の各々は、電池セルの第2側面であって第1側面と交差する第2側面に対向すると共に、ケースの第1内壁面に熱的に接触する第1伝熱部と、第1伝熱部に熱的に接続されており、電池セルの第3側面であって第1及び第2側面と交差する第3側面に対向すると共に、ケースにおける第1内壁面と交差する第2内壁面に熱的に接触する第2伝熱部と、を含む。
 上記電池モジュールでは、複数の電池セルは、電池セルの第1側面と交差する方向に並設されている。各電池セルには、電池セルを放熱させるための伝熱部材が熱的に接続されている。伝熱部材は、第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部の2つの伝熱部を含む。第1伝熱部は電池セルの第2側面に対向しており、第2伝熱部は、第1伝熱部に熱的に接続されていると共に、電池セルの第3側面に対向する。よって、前述したように、第1側面に交差する方向に電池セルが並設されていても、第1及び第2伝熱部は、電池モジュールにおいて露出し得る。よって、電池モジュールをケースに収容する際、伝熱部材の第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部の各々が、そのケースにおける互いに交差する第1及び第2内壁面に熱的に接触するように電池モジュールをケースに収容できる。その場合、電池モジュールの放熱経路として、熱が伝熱部材の第1伝熱部を通って第1内壁面に伝導する経路と第2伝熱部を通って第2内壁面に伝導する経路との2つの放熱経路が形成される。このため、例えば放熱経路が1つの場合よりも、電池モジュールの放熱性能を向上できる。
 上記伝熱部材の第1伝熱部は、第2側面に熱的に接触していてもよい。これにより、電池セルで発生した熱が伝熱部材の第1伝熱部によって吸収される。そして、第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部は熱的に接続されているので、第1伝熱部で吸収された熱を第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部を介して放熱できる。そのため、電池モジュールを好適に放熱できる。
 上記伝熱部材の第2伝熱部は、電池セルの第3側面に熱的に接触していてもよい。これにより、電池セルで発生した熱が伝熱部材の第2伝熱部によって吸収される。そして、第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部は熱的に接続されているので、第1伝熱部で吸収された熱を第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部を介して放熱できる。そのため、電池モジュールを好適に放熱できる。
 上記伝熱部材は、電池セルの第1側面に熱的に接触する第3伝熱部をさらに含み、第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部は、第3伝熱部を介して接続されていてもよい。この構成によれば、第3伝熱部が第1側面に熱的に接続されているので、電池セルの熱を第3伝熱部で吸収できる。そして、第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部が第3伝熱部を介して接続されているので、第3伝熱部で吸収された熱は第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部から放熱し得る。すなわち、第3伝熱部で吸収した熱を、第3伝熱部から第1及び第2伝熱部を通る2つの放熱経路で放熱可能である。そのため、電池モジュールの放熱性能を向上できる。
 上記第1伝熱部、第2伝熱部及び第3伝熱部は板状であり、第1伝熱部は、第3伝熱部が第1側面に接続された状態において、第3伝熱部における第2側面側の縁部から第3伝熱部の板厚方向に立設されており、第2伝熱部は、第3伝熱部が第1側面に接続された状態において、第3伝熱部における第3側面側の縁部から第3伝熱部の板厚方向に立設されていてもよい。この場合、第3伝熱部に対して第1及び第2伝熱部が上記のように設けられているので、第1伝熱部は第2側面と対向し、第2伝熱部が第3側面と対向する。第3伝熱部が板状であるため、第1側面との熱的な接触領域を大きくできる。そのため、第1側面からの熱を第3伝熱部で効率的に吸収し易い。第1及び第2伝熱部が板状であることから、第1及び第2伝熱部から効率的に放熱できる。よって、電池モジュールの放熱性能の向上が一層図られている。
 上記第1伝熱部、第2伝熱部及び第3伝熱部は一体に形成されていてもよい。これにより、第1伝熱部、第2伝熱部及び第3伝熱部の間の熱伝導効率を高め、電池セルの放熱性能をさらに向上できる。各伝熱部が一体に形成されていることによって、伝熱部材の作製も容易である。
 上記電池モジュールは、電池セルの第1側面が露出するように複数の電池セルをそれぞれ保持する複数のホルダをさらに備え、伝熱部材は、電池セルの第1側面に熱的に接続される第3伝熱部をさらに含み、第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部は、第3伝熱部を介して接続されており、伝熱部材は、第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部が、伝熱部材に対応する電池セルを保持するホルダの外側に位置するように、電池セルに対して設けられていてもよい。このように伝熱部材が設けられることによって、電池セルがホルダに保持されていても、伝熱部材の第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部の各々は、電池モジュールにおいて露出し得る。よって、電池モジュールをケースに収容する場合、そのケースにおける互いに交差する第1及び第2内壁面に第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部が熱的に接触するように電池モジュールをケースに収容できる。よって、電池モジュールの放熱性能を向上できる。
 電池モジュールが上記ホルダを備える場合も、第1伝熱部は、第3伝熱部が第1側面に接続された状態において、第3伝熱部における第2側面側の端部から第3伝熱部の板厚方向に立設されており、第2伝熱部は、第3伝熱部が第1側面に接続された状態において、第3伝熱部における第3側面側の端部から第3伝熱部の板厚方向に立設されていてもよい。第1伝熱部、第2伝熱部及び第3伝熱部は一体に形成されていてもよい。
 上記ホルダは、第2側面と接する第1側板と、第1側板に交差しており第3側面と接する第2側板と、を有し、第1伝熱部は、第1側板に対して第2側面と反対側に位置しており、第2伝熱部は、第2側板に対して第3側面と反対側に位置していてもよい。この構成では、電池セルは、第2側面が第1側板と接すると共に、第3側面が第2側板と接するように配置されることで、第1側板と第2側板とで保持され得る。そして、第1伝熱部は、第1側板に対して第2側面と反対側に位置しており、第2伝熱部は、第2側板に対して第3側面と反対側に位置していることから、電池モジュールにおいて、第1及び第2伝熱部は露出している。よって、第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部から熱を放熱できる。
 上記ホルダは、第2側板における電池セルと反対側の外面に設けられた突出部を有し、第3伝熱部において、第2伝熱部が接続される縁部は、第2側板から外側に突出しており、第3伝熱部において、第2側板の外面から第2伝熱部が接続される端部までの長さは、第2側板の板厚方向における突出部の長さと同じであってもよい。この場合、第2側板に突出部が設けられていても、第2伝熱部が確実にケースの内壁面に接触し得る。
 上記ホルダは、第2側板における電池セルと反対側の外面に設けられた突出部を有し、第2伝熱部は、第2側板の板厚方向における突出部の長さと同じ厚さを有してもよい。この場合にも、第2側板に突出部が設けられていても、第2伝熱部が確実にケースの第2内壁面に接触し得る。
 本発明の他の側面に係る電池パックは、上記電池モジュールと、電池モジュールを収容するケースと、を備え、電池モジュールは、伝熱部材の第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部の各々がケースにおいて交差している第1内壁面及び第2内壁面に熱的に接触するようにケースに固定されている。この電池パックによれば、先に説明した電池モジュールを備えているので、電池モジュールの放熱性能を向上できる。
 本発明によれば、電池モジュールの放熱性能を向上可能である。

 以下、図面を参照しながら、本発明に係る実施形態を説明する。可能な場合には、同一の部分には同一の符号を付して、重複する説明を省略する。説明中、「上」、「下」等の方向を示す語は、図面に示された状態に基づいた便宜的な語である。各図面における寸法、形状は、実際のものとは必ずしも同一ではない。
[第1実施形態]
 図1は、電池パックの概略構成を示す一部切り欠き斜視図である。図1では、電池パック1の上面を一部破断して、電池パックを示している。
 図1に示したように、電池パック1は、複数の電池モジュール10と、ケース20とを備える。電池パック1は、例えば、自動車及びフォークリフトなどの車両において、バッテリとして機能する。複数の電池モジュール10は、ケース20内に固定されている。図1中において、4個の電池モジュール10を模式的に示しているが、電池モジュール10の数は4個に限定されない。電池モジュール10については、後ほど詳述する。
 ケース20は、四角箱形状を有し、複数の電池モジュール10を収容する収容部材である。ケース20の材料の例は、金属であり、例えば、鉄である。ケース20は、ケース本体21と、ケース蓋22とを含む。
 ケース本体21は、板状の底壁211及び板状の4つの側壁212,213,214,215によって形成され、上部が開口された箱形状を有する。底壁211の平面視形状は四角形状(例えば、矩形又は正方形)である。以下、説明の便宜のため、図1に示すように、ケース20における底壁211の内壁面(第2内壁面)211aの法線方向をZ軸方向とし、内壁面211aをXY平面としてXYZ座標系を設定する。側壁212~215は、底壁211の4つの縁部にそれぞれ立設されている。
 ケース蓋22は、ケース本体21の開口部分を塞ぐように、ケース本体21の上に、ケース本体21の底壁211と対向して配置され固定されている。
 次に、図2~図5を参照して、電池モジュール10の詳細について説明する。図2は、電池モジュール10の詳細構成を示す斜視図である。図3は、電池モジュール10に含まれる電池セルユニット12の構成を示す分解斜視図である。図4は、図2のIV-IV線に沿った断面図である。図5は、図2のV-V線に沿った断面図である。図2では、電池モジュール10がケース20内に固定されている状態を模試的に示している。よって、図2~図5を参照して電池モジュール10を説明する場合においても、前述したXYZ座標系を使用して説明する場合もある。図4及び図5において電池セル50の断面構成を模式的に示している。
 まず、電池モジュール10について説明する。図2に示したように、電池モジュール10は、複数の電池セルユニット12を含む。この例では、電池モジュール10は7つの電池セルユニット12を含むが、電池セルユニット12の数はこれに限定されない。複数の電池セルユニット12は、一方向に並設(或いは配列)されている。以下、説明のために複数の電池セルユニット12の並設方向を並設方向Aと称す。この例では、並設方向Aは、X軸方向である。複数の電池セルユニット12は、バスバーBといった導電部材によって電気的に接続されている。この接続形態としては、直列接続でもよいし、並列接続でもよい。図2では、直列接続の場合を例示している。
 図2に示したように、電池モジュール10において、並設された複数の電池セルユニット12は、一対の拘束部材30,30によって、並設方向に加圧され拘束されている。一対の拘束部材30,30の例は、エンドプレートである。拘束部材30は、鉄等の剛性が高い材料により形成されている。一対の拘束部材30,30は、並設方向Aに延在するボルト32及びボルト34が一方の拘束部材30、電池セルユニット12及び他方の拘束部材30に挿入され、他方の拘束部材30側でナット(不図示)により締結されることで、固定されている。電池モジュール10は、固定部材40を介して、ケース20に取り付けられ得る。固定部材40の例は、図2に示したように、L字状の固定ブラケットであり、一対の拘束部材30,30及びケース20にボルトなどで締結される。図2では、固定部材40はケース本体21の側壁215に締結されているが、底壁211に締結されてもよい。
 図3~図5に示したように、電池セルユニット12は、電池セル50と、ホルダ60と、伝熱部材70とを含む。
 電池セル50は、例えば、リチウムイオン二次電池などの非水電解質二次電池といった蓄電池である。電池セル50は、電極組立体52と、ケース54と、一対の電極端子58,58とを含む。電池セル50は、非水電解質二次電地に限定されない。
 電極組立体52は、正極、負極及び正極と負極との間に配置されたセパレータを有する。正極、負極及びセパレータは、例えばシート形状を有しており、その場合、複数の正極、負極及びセパレータが交互に積層されていてよい。他の例では、セパレータ付き正極として、正極の両面に2枚のシート状のセパレータが各々接合され、ユニット化された正極を用いてもよい。セパレータは袋状であってもよく、その場合には袋状のセパレータ内に、複数の正極及び複数の負極が、セパレータを介して交互に積層され得る。
 ケース54は、有底角筒状のケース本体部55と、ケース本体部55の開口を覆う蓋板56とを含み、電極組立体52を収容する。ケース54内には、電極組立体52と共に、図示しない電解液が充填される。ケース54の材料の例は、導電材料(例えばアルミニウム)である。電解液としては、例えば有機溶媒系又は非水系の電解液等が挙げられる。
 ケース本体部55(の外表面)は、5つの四角形状(例えば、図3に例示したように矩形、又は正方形)の側面551~555を有する。このうち、側面551、側面553、側面554及び側面555の4つの側面が、側面552の4つの辺から、側面552と直交する方向に向かって延びている。
 側面(第1側面)553及び側面554は対向しており、側面(第2側面)551及び側面555は対向している。上記構成では、側面(第3側面)552は、ケース本体部55の開口側(蓋板56が設けられる側)と反対側に位置しており、側面551,側面553、側面555及び側面554を接続する面である。よって、側面552は、ケース54における底面でもある。
 蓋板56は、ケース本体部55の開口を塞ぐように配置され固定される。蓋板56の固定方法は特に限定されないが、例えば、溶接により蓋板56がケース本体部55に固定されればよい。
 一対の電極端子58,58は、電池セル50の電極組立体52の電力を外部に取り出すための端子である。一対の電極端子58,58の一方は、電極組立体52の正極に電気的に接続された正極端子である。一対の電極端子58,58の他方は、電極組立体52の負極に電気的に接続された負極端子である。各電極端子58は、その一端部が蓋板56から外部に突出するように、蓋板56と絶縁された状態で、蓋板56に固定される。
 ホルダ60は、電池セル50を保持する。本実施形態では、ホルダ60は、電池セル50のケース本体部55の側面553及び側面554が露出するように、電池セル50を保持する。ホルダ60の材料の例は、樹脂である。ホルダ60は、枠体62と、仕切部64と、一対の端子収容部66,66と、ボルトガイド部68,69とを含む。
 枠体62は、底板(第2側板)621と一対の側板(第1側板)622,622とを有する。底板621は、電池セル50が載置される部材である。底板621は、電池セル50がホルダ60に保持された状態で、電池セル50のケース本体部55の側面552と接する。本実施形態では、ケース本体部55の底面としての側面522が接する板状部材を、便宜的に底板621と称しているが、底板621は、枠体62の側板でもある。
 一対の側板622,622は、底板621の一対の縁部から立設されている。一対の側板622,622のそれぞれは、電池セル50がホルダ60に保持された状態で、対応する側面551,555と接する。従って、例えば、側面552が矩形状である場合、底板621も矩形状であり、一対の側板622,622は、底板621の長手方向の両端から立設されている。底板621と一対の側板622,622とのなす角度は、通常、90°である。以下、説明のために一対の側板622,622を区別する必要がある場合、側面551に接する側板622を側板622Aと称し、側面555に接する側板622を側板622Bと称す場合もある。
 一実施形形態において側板622Aの幅(並設方向Aの長さ)は、側面551の幅と実質的に同じであり、側板622Bの幅は、側面552の幅と後述する吸熱部71の厚さとの合計と実質的に同じとし得る。
 仕切部64は、底板621の板厚方向(側板622の延在方向)において、側板622の中間部分に設けられており、一対の側板622,622を接続している板状部材である。仕切部64は、側板622の幅方向(図3においてX軸方向)における一方の縁部に接続されている。底板621の板厚方向(図3においてZ軸方向)における底板621の上面から仕切部64の上端までの距離は、例えば、電池セル50の側面552から蓋板56の上面までの長さとし得る。底板621の板厚方向における仕切部64の長さは、側面553の長さより短い。これにより、電池セル50をホルダ60に保持した状態で、側面553が露出する。前述したように、仕切部64は、側板622の幅方向における一方の縁部側に設けられているので、側板622の幅方向における他方側は開放されている。よって、電池セル50をホルダ60に保持した状態で、側面554が露出する。
 一対の端子収容部66,66は、電池セル50の一対の電極端子58,58をそれぞれ収容する。一方の端子収容部66は、仕切部64における側板622A側に設けられ、他方の端子収容部66は、仕切部64における側板622B側に設けられている。端子収容部66は、互いに直交する第1周囲壁661及び第2周囲壁662を有する。第1周囲壁661は、仕切部64の上端に設けられており、第1周囲壁661の一端は、対応する側板622に接続されている。第2周囲壁662は、第1周囲壁661の他端に側板622と対向するように設けられている。
 ボルトガイド部68は、第2周囲壁662に隣接して設けられており、第2周囲壁662に沿って、すなわち、図3においてX軸方向に延びている。一対のボルトガイド部68,68は、前述のボルト32を案内する。
 ホルダ60において、底板621における一対の側板622,622が立設されている縁部の外側には、それぞれボルトガイド部69が設けられている。よって、ボルトガイド部69は、底板621から外側に突出した突出部である。ボルトガイド部69は、図3においてX軸方向に延在している。ボルトガイド部69は、前述のボルト34を案内する。
 伝熱部材70は、電池セル50を放熱させるための部材である。伝熱部材70の材料の例は、アルミニウムである。伝熱部材70は、複数の電池セル50の各々に対して設けられている。伝熱部材70は、吸熱部71と、放熱部72と、放熱部73とを含む。放熱部72及び放熱部73は、吸熱部71を介して接続されている。
 吸熱部71は、電池セル50のケース本体部55の側面553に熱的に接続され、伝熱部材70において電池セル50からの熱を主に受ける板状の部分(第3伝熱部)である。熱的な接続は、例えば、両面接着テープを用いた接合によって実現される。吸熱部71は、第1領域711と第2領域712とを有する。第1領域711は、側面553に熱的に接続される領域であり、吸熱部71の板厚方向からみた場合、矩形又は正方形といった四角形状を有する。一実施形態において、第1領域711は、ホルダ60から露出される側面553全体を覆う大きさを有し得る。一実施形態において、吸熱部71における並設方向Aと底板621の板厚方向に直交する方向の長さは、実質的に側面553の長さと同じである。
 第2領域712は、第1領域711が側面553に接合された状態で、ケース54の側面552側に突出する領域であって、第1領域711と、放熱部73とを連結する領域であり、吸熱部71の板厚方向からみた場合、矩形形状を有する。第2領域712は、ホルダ60に保持された電池セル50に伝熱部材70が取り付けられた状態で、底板621から外側に突出する。すなわち、第2領域712のうちの第1領域711が接続された一縁部と反対側の縁部は、底板621の外側に位置している。具体的には、例えば、第2領域712のうち底板621の外面から突出した部分は、ボルトガイド部69の厚さ(底板621の板厚方向において、ボルトガイド部69の最大長さ)と実質的に同じ長さを有する。
 放熱部72は、吸熱部71からの熱を放熱する板状の部分(第1伝熱部)である。放熱部72は、吸熱部71の第1領域711において、側面551側(或いは、側板622A側)の縁部から並設方向A(吸熱部71の板厚方向)に立設されている。これにより、吸熱部71と放熱部72とはL字状を呈しており、放熱部72は、電池セル50のケース本体部55の側面551と対向する。放熱部72と吸熱部71とは、例えば、直交している。放熱部72は、ホルダ60に保持された電池セル50に伝熱部材70が取り付けられた状態で、ホルダ60の枠体62の一方の側板622Aを挟んで、側面551の反対側(つまりホルダ60の外側)に位置している。これは、吸熱部71の大きさ又は吸熱部71の側面553への接続位置を調整することで実現され得る。一実施形態において、放熱部72は側板622Aに接する。
 放熱部73は、吸熱部71からの熱を放熱する板状の部分(第2伝熱部)である。放熱部73は、吸熱部71の第2領域712のうちの第1領域711が接続された一縁部と反対側の縁部から、並設方向Aに立設されている。これにより、吸熱部71と放熱部72とはL字状を呈しており、放熱部73は、電池セル50のケース本体部55の側面552と対向する。放熱部73と吸熱部71とは、例えば、直交している。放熱部73は、ホルダ60に電池セル50に保持された電池セル50に伝熱部材70が取り付けられた状態で、ホルダ60の枠体62の底板621を挟んで、側面552の反対側(つまりホルダ60の外側)に位置している。これは、吸熱部71の大きさ又は吸熱部71の側面553への接続位置を調整することで実現され得る。
 一実施形態において、放熱部73は、電池セル50がホルダ60に保持された状態で、一対のボルトガイド部(突出部)69,69の間に配置される。この場合、一方のボルトガイド部69から他方のボルトガイド部69に向かう方向(図3において、Y軸方向)における放熱部73の長さは、ボルトガイド部69間の距離に実質的に等しい。よって、第2領域712の長さ(長手方向の長さ)もボルトガイド部69間の距離に実質的に等しく、第1領域711の対応する方向の長さより短くし得る。
 伝熱部材70の作製方法は、上記構成が実現できれば特に限定されないが、例えば、吸熱部71及び放熱部72,73が一体に形成されている場合、次のようにして作製され得る。すなわち、一枚の四角形状の金属板(例えば、アルミニウム板)を切り欠いて、伝熱部材70の展開状態の板状部材を形成する。その後、吸熱部71と、放熱部72及び放熱部73との境界部分を折り曲げることによって、作製され得る。
 電池モジュール10は次のようにして作製される。すわち、電池セル50をホルダ60の底板621上に載置してホルダ60で保持した状態において、上記構成の伝熱部材70が有する吸熱部71の第1領域711を例えば両面接着テープで電池セル50の側面553に接合する。これにより、電池セルユニット12を組み立てる。吸熱部71を電池セル50に接合する際、放熱部72及び放熱部73がホルダ60の外側に位置するように、伝熱部材70を電池セル50に対して配置する。その後、電池セル50が有するケース54の側面553の法線方向に複数の電池セルユニット12を並設した後、前述したように、一対の拘束部材30,30で複数の電池セルユニット12を一体化して電池モジュール10を得る。
 各電池セルユニット12は伝熱部材70を有するため、隣接する電池セル50間に伝熱部材70、より具体的には、吸熱部71が介在している。隣接する電池セルユニット12のうちの一方の電池セルユニット12が有する伝熱部材70と、他方の電池セルユニット12の電池セル50の側面554とは、更に両面接着テープで接合されていてもよい。放熱部72及び放熱部73がホルダ60の外側に位置するため、電池モジュール10において、放熱部72及び放熱部73は露出している。
 以上説明した複数の電池モジュール10を、図1に示したように、電池パック1のケース20のケース本体21における互いに交差する2つの内壁面で構成される角部に配置して、ケース20内に収容することで電池パック1が得られる。具体的に、図4及び図5を参照して説明する。図4及び図5に示したように、電池モジュール10をケース20に収容する際、伝熱部材70の放熱部72及び放熱部73の各々が、電池パック1が有するケース20のケース本体21における互いに交差する(図4及び図5に示した例では互いに直交している)内壁面(第1内壁面)215a及び内壁面(第2内壁面)211aに接触するように固定する。図4及び図5では、内壁面215aと内壁面211aとで構成される角部に配置される電池モジュール10を例示しているが、側壁213の内壁面(第1内壁面)213aと内壁面(第2内壁面)211aとで構成される角部に配置される電池モジュール10についても同様である。これにより、電池パック1において、放熱部72及び放熱部73は、交差する2つの内壁面に熱的に接触していることになる。
 次に、電池モジュール10及び電池パック1の作用効果について説明する。以下、特に、断らない限り、図4及び図5のように、内壁面215a及び内壁面211aに放熱部72及び放熱部73が接触している電池モジュール10に着目して説明する。
 電池モジュール10では、各電池セルユニット12が有する電池セル50に伝熱部材70が接続されている。伝熱部材70は、電池セル50の側面553に接続される吸熱部71と、側面551に対向する放熱部72と、側面552に対向する放熱部73とを有する。伝熱部材70は、放熱部72及び放熱部73が、電池セル50を保持するホルダ60の外側に位置するように、電池セル50に対して設けられている。放熱部72及び放熱部73がホルダ60の外側に配置されているので、電池セルユニット12が、側面553と交差する方向(例えば、直交する方向)に並設され一体化されていても、放熱部72及び放熱部73は電池モジュール10において露出している。よって、吸熱部71で受けた電池セルユニット12の熱を2つの放熱部72,73を介して放熱できる。その結果、電池モジュール10を効率的に放熱可能である。
 前述したように、放熱部72及び放熱部73が電池モジュール10において露出していることから、電池パック1では、電池モジュール10における放熱部72及び放熱部73の各々が電池パック1のケース20(ケース本体21)における互いに交差する内壁面215a及び内壁面211aに接触するように、電池モジュール10をケース20に収容できる。この場合、電池セル50の放熱経路として、伝熱部材70の放熱部72を通る第1の放熱経路(放熱部72を介して内壁面215aに至る経路)と、伝熱部材70の放熱部73を通る第2の放熱経路(放熱部73を介して内壁面211aに至る経路)との2つの放熱経路が形成される。このため、例えば放熱経路が1つの場合よりも、電池セル50の放熱性を向上できる。
 伝熱部材70において、放熱部72及び放熱部73は、吸熱部71を介して接続されている。このため、吸熱部71は、上述の第1の放熱経路及び第2の放熱経路によって放熱される。とくに、電池セル50のケース本体部23の側面551が、側面552及び側面553よりも大きい面積を有しているような場合には、側面551に接触する吸熱部71は、電池セル50で発生した熱を効率よく吸収できる。よって、電池セル50を好適に放熱できる。
 吸熱部71は、板状を呈しているので、側面553と熱的に面接触できる。よって、吸熱部71と側面553とのより広い熱的な接続領域を確保できる。そのため、効率的に電池セル50の熱を吸熱部71で受けられる。そして、放熱部72及び放熱部73も板状を呈していることから、吸熱部71からの熱を効率的に放熱できる。板状の吸熱部71及び放熱部72,73は、一体的に形成されているので、伝熱部材70の作製も容易である。吸熱部71、放熱部72及び放熱部73が一体に形成されているので、吸熱部71、放熱部72及び放熱部73の間の熱伝導効率を高め、電池セル50の放熱性能をさらに向上できる。例えば、吸熱部71、放熱部72及び放熱部73を個別に電池セル50に取り付ける場合と比べて、伝熱部材70を電池セル50に容易に取り付けることができる。
 先に説明したように、ホルダ60において、底板621の外側には、突出部としてのボルトガイド部69が設けられている。そのため、ホルダ60の底板621のうち電池パック1のケース20の内壁面211aと対向する外面(底板621の外面)と、底壁211との間には、隙間ができる。すなわち、底板621の外面における一対のボルトガイド部69,69の間の領域は、内壁面211aから離間した離間領域である。
 伝熱部材70の吸熱部71は、電池セルユニット12において、底板621から外側に突出する第2領域712を有し、その第2領域712に放熱部73が接続されている。そして、第2領域712のうち底板621の外面から突出した部分は、底板621の板厚方向におけるボルトガイド部69の長さと同じ長さを有し、その第2領域712の縁部に放熱部73が接続されている。この場合、上記のように、内壁面211aに対向する外面(底板621の外面)との間に隙間があっても(つまりボルトガイド部69が設けられていても)放熱部73が確実に内壁面211aに接触する。
 次に、第1の実施形態の変形例について説明する。例えば、図3及び図5に示した形態では、第2領域712のうち底板621の外面から突出した部分は、ボルトガイド部69の厚さと同じ長さを有していたが、これに限定されない。
 例えば、第2領域712は、底板621の外面から突出した部分を有していればよい。この場合、第2領域712と放熱部73とのなす角度θが90°より大きく180°より小さければよい。このように、第2領域712と放熱部73とのなす角度θが鈍角であれば、電池モジュール10をケース20に固定する際、ボルトガイド部69が内壁面211aに接するように載置することで、放熱部73が内壁面211aに接し得る。
 第2領域712と放熱部73とのなす角度θが鈍角である場合の放熱部73の大きさ及び形状は、ボルトガイド部69が内壁面211aに接した場合に、放熱部73が内壁面211aに接するものであれば特に限定されない。例えば、放熱部73は、ボルトガイド部69が内壁面211aに接した場合に、内壁面211aに当接する第1板状部と、第1板状部と第2領域712とを連結する第2板状部とを有すればよい。この場合、第1板状部と第2板状部とのなす角度は鈍角であり、放熱部73は屈曲形状を有する。或いは、放熱部73は、平板状でもよい。この場合、例えば、放熱部73は、ボルトガイド部69の先端部(すなわち内壁面211aと当接する端部)を含み底板621と平行な仮想平面まで延びていてもよいし、或いは、その仮想平面から突出していてもよい。放熱部73が、上記仮想平面から突出している場合、放熱部73は吸熱部71に対して屈曲可能であることが好ましい。この場合、電池モジュール10をケースに固定すれば、放熱部73は、底板621側に押圧されるので、放熱部73と内壁面211aとの接触がより強固になる。
 上述の第1実施形態においては、例えば、放熱部73は、側板622Aから側板622Bに向かう方向(図3において、Y軸方向)において、ホルダ60の幅とほぼ同じ長さを有していてもよい。この場合、例えば、放熱部73がボルトガイド部69の外側に配置されるように、第2領域712の長さを調整しておけばよい。吸熱部71がボルトガイド部69にガイドされるボルト34を阻害しないように、吸熱部71の第2領域712の図中のY軸方向の長さは、図3の場合と同様でもよいし、或いは、第1領域711のY軸方向の長さと同じでもよい。例えば、Y軸方向において、第2領域712が第1領域711と同じ長さを有する場合、第2領域712において、ボルトガイド部69と対向する部分には、ボルト34を挿通する孔を形成しておけばよい。
 例えば、吸熱部71は第2領域712を有するとしたが、第2領域712を有しなくてもよい。この場合、例えば、放熱部73は、離間領域と内壁面211aとの間の距離と同じ厚さ(板厚)を有していてもよい。この場合、底板621と内壁面211aとの隙間は、放熱部73によって埋められる。このようにしても、放熱部73と内壁面211aとの接触を確保できる。
[第2実施形態]
 次に、第2実施形態に係る電池モジュールについて、図6及び図7を参照して説明する。図6は、第2実施形態に係る電池モジュール10Aを、電池モジュール10の代わりにケース20に収容した電池パックの一部を拡大して模式的に示している。以下の説明において、電池モジュール10Aを用いた電池パックを電池パック1Aとも称す。
 図6及び図7に示したように、電池モジュール10Aは、電池セルユニット12の代わりに電池セルユニット12Aを備える。電池セルユニット12Aは、ホルダ60を有さない点、および伝熱部材70に代えて伝熱部材70Aを有する点において、電池セルユニット12の構成と相違する。この相違点を中心に第2実施形態について説明する。
 電池セルユニット12Aは、電池セル50と、伝熱部材70Aを有する。伝熱部材70Aは、吸熱部71Aと、放熱部72Aと、放熱部73Aとを含む。吸熱部71Aは、伝熱部材70における吸熱部71のような第2領域712を有さず、電池セル50の側面553と同じ大きさで有り得る。吸熱部71Aは、吸熱部71の場合と同様にして側面553に熱的に接続されている。放熱部72Aは、吸熱部71Aにおいて、側面551側の縁部から並設方向A(吸熱部71Aの板厚方向)に立設されている。図6及び図7に示した形態において、放熱部72Aは、側面551に接触している。放熱部73Aは、吸熱部71Aにおいて、側面552側の縁部から並設方向A(吸熱部71Aの板厚方向)に立設されている。図6及び図7に示した形態において、放熱部73Aは、側面552に接触している。
 電池モジュール10Aは、上記構成の複数の電池セルユニット12Aが、側面553に交差する方向(図6に示される例では、直交する方向)に並設されると共に、それらが一体化されて構成されている。複数の電池セルユニット12Aは、例えば、両面接着テープで接合されることで一体化されてもよい。この構成では、複数の放熱部72Aが電池モジュール10Aの一側面を構成し、複数の放熱部73Aが電池モジュール10Aの底面を構成している。
 電池モジュール10Aをケース20に固定する際には、例えば、図6に示したように、並設された複数の電池セルユニット12Aのうち並設方向Aにおける両端の電池セルユニット12Aに、取り付け用の補助板30Aを接合しておけばよい。補助板30Aは、例えば電池セルユニット12Aに両面接着テープで接合され得る。この補助板30Aに、第1実施形態と同様に、固定部材40を取り付けることで、電池モジュール10Aを、電池モジュール10の場合と同様にして、ケース20に固定できる。図6では、固定部材40はケース本体21の側壁215に締結されているが、底壁211に締結されてもよい。
 電池モジュール10A及び電池パック1Aにおいても、放熱部72A及び放熱部73Aがそれぞれ、ケース20における互いに交差する2つの内壁面、例えば、内壁面215a(第1内壁面)及び内壁面211a(第2内壁面)に熱的に接触する。よって、電池モジュール10A及び電池パック1Aにおいても第1実施形態の場合と少なくとも同様の作用効果を有する。すなわち、吸熱部71Aで受けた電池セルユニット12Aの熱を2つの放熱部72A,73Aを介して放熱できる。その結果、電池モジュール10Aを効率的に放熱可能である。
 電池セルユニット12Aにおいては、伝熱部材70Aの放熱部72A及び放熱部73Aが、電池セル50のケース本体部23の側面551及び側面552に接触した構成とされる。これにより、電池セル50で発生した熱が、伝熱部材70Aの吸熱部71Aだけでなく、放熱部72A及び放熱部73Aによっても吸収され且つ放熱されるので、電池セル50を好適に放熱できる。
 次に、第2実施形態の変形例について説明する。電池モジュール10Aにおいては、伝熱部材70Aが吸熱部71を有さない構成でもよい。この場合、放熱部72A及び放熱部73Aのうちの少なくとも一方を、例えば、両面接着テープで、対応する側面551及び側面552に接合すればよい。これにより、放熱部72A及び放熱部73Aが側面551及び側面552に熱的に接触した状態で、放熱部72A及び放熱部73Aからなる伝熱部材を電池セル50に熱的に接続できる。この形態でも上述のように、放熱部72及び放熱部73が吸熱部としても機能するので、電池セル50を放熱できる。
 以上、本発明の種々の実施形態及び変形例を説明したが、本発明は上記実施形態及び変形例に限定されるものではなく、発明の趣旨を逸脱しない範囲で種々の変更が可能である。例えば、伝熱部材70,70Aの形状は、これまで例示したものに限定されない。例えば、伝熱部材70は、吸熱部(第3伝熱部)と、吸熱部を介して接続される放熱部(第1伝熱部)及び放熱部(第2伝熱部)を備え、それら2つの放熱部(第1及び第2伝熱部)が、ケース20の内壁面215a及び内壁面211aにそれぞれ熱的に接触する構成であればよい。伝熱部材70Aは、ケース20の内壁面215a及び内壁面211aにそれぞれ熱的に接触する2つの伝熱部を有し、それらが熱的に接続されていればよい。
 これまで、側面551及び側面552をそれぞれ第2側面及び第3側面として説明した。しかしながら、側面552及び側面551が第3側面及び第2側面であってもよい。この場合、放熱部72,72Aが第2伝熱部に対応し、側板622Aが第2側板に対応し、内壁面215aが第2内壁面に対応する。第1内壁面及び第2内壁面は、第2伝熱部及び第3伝熱部がそれぞれ熱的に接触し、互いに交差する2つの内壁面であればよい。よって、第1内壁面は内壁面215a及び内壁面213aに限らず、第2内壁面は、内壁面211aに限らない。
 第1実施形態では、拘束部材30,30の例をエンドプレートとし、固定部材40の例を固定ブラケットとし、それぞれ別部材として説明した。しかしながら、拘束部材30と固定部材40とは一体に形成された一つの部材でもよい。同様に、第2実施形態における補助板30Aと固定部材40とは一体に形成された一つの部材でもよい。
 第1実施形態において、伝熱部材70と、ケース20との間には、伝熱シートとしてのTIM(Thermal Interface Material)が配置されてもよい。すなわち、放熱部72は、TIMを介して(TIMが介在する状態で)側壁215等に接触してもよく、放熱部73は、TIMを介して底壁211に接触してもよい。同様に、第2実施形態において、伝熱部材70Aとケース20との間にTIMが配置されてもよい。

Claims (13)

  1.  ケースに収容される電池モジュールであって、
     複数の電池セルと、
     前記複数の電池セルの各々に対して熱的に接続される複数の伝熱部材と、
     を備え、
     前記複数の電池セルは、前記電池セルの第1側面と交差する方向に並設されており、
     前記複数の伝熱部材の各々は、
     前記電池セルの第2側面であって前記第1側面と交差する前記第2側面に対向すると共に、前記ケースの第1内壁面に熱的に接触する第1伝熱部と、
     前記第1伝熱部に熱的に接続されており、前記電池セルの第3側面であって前記第1及び第2側面と交差する前記第3側面に対向すると共に、前記ケースにおける前記第1内壁面と交差する第2内壁面に熱的に接触する第2伝熱部と、
     を含む、
     電池モジュール。
  2.  前記伝熱部材の前記第1伝熱部は、前記第2側面に熱的に接触している、請求項1に記載の電池モジュール。
  3.  前記伝熱部材の前記第2伝熱部は、前記電池セルの前記第3側面に熱的に接触している、請求項1又は2に記載の電池モジュール。
  4.  前記伝熱部材は、前記電池セルの前記第1側面に熱的に接続される第3伝熱部をさらに含み、
     前記第1伝熱部及び前記第2伝熱部は、前記第3伝熱部を介して接続されている、請求項1~3の何れか1項に記載の電池モジュール。
  5.  前記第1伝熱部、前記第2伝熱部及び前記第3伝熱部は板状であり、
     前記第1伝熱部は、前記第3伝熱部が前記第1側面に接続された状態において、前記第3伝熱部における前記第2側面側の縁部から前記第3伝熱部の板厚方向に立設されており、
     前記第2伝熱部は、前記第3伝熱部が前記第1側面に接続された状態において、前記第3伝熱部における前記第3側面側の縁部から前記第3伝熱部の板厚方向に立設されている、請求項4に記載の電池モジュール。
  6.  前記第1伝熱部、前記第2伝熱部及び前記第3伝熱部は一体に形成されている、
    請求項5に記載の電池モジュール。
  7.  前記電池セルの前記第1側面が露出するように前記複数の電池セルをそれぞれ保持する複数のホルダをさらに備え、
     前記伝熱部材は、前記電池セルの前記第1側面に熱的に接続される第3伝熱部をさらに含み、
     前記第1伝熱部及び前記第2伝熱部は、前記第3伝熱部を介して接続されており、
     前記伝熱部材は、前記第1伝熱部及び前記第2伝熱部が、前記伝熱部材に対応する前記電池セルを保持する前記ホルダの外側に位置するように、前記電池セルに対して設けられている、
     請求項1に記載の電池モジュール。
  8.  前記第1伝熱部、前記第2伝熱部及び前記第3伝熱部は板状であり、
     前記第1伝熱部は、前記第3伝熱部が前記第1側面に接続された状態において、前記第3伝熱部における前記第2側面側の端部から前記第3伝熱部の板厚方向に立設されており、
     前記第2伝熱部は、前記第3伝熱部が前記第1側面に接続された状態において、前記第3伝熱部における前記第3側面側の端部から前記第3伝熱部の板厚方向に立設されている、
    請求項7に記載の電池モジュール。
  9.  前記第1伝熱部、前記第2伝熱部及び前記第3伝熱部は一体に形成されている、請求項7に記載の電池モジュール。
  10.  前記ホルダは、
     前記第2側面と接する第1側板と、
     前記第1側板に交差しており前記第3側面と接する第2側板と、
     を有し、
     前記第1伝熱部は、前記第1側板に対して前記第2側面と反対側に位置しており、
     前記第2伝熱部は、前記第2側板に対して前記第3側面と反対側に位置している、
    請求項7~9の何れか一項に記載の電池モジュール。
  11.  前記ホルダは、前記第2側板における前記電池セルと反対側の外面に設けられた突出部を有し、
     前記第3伝熱部において、前記第2伝熱部が接続される縁部は、前記第2側板の外側に位置しており、
     前記第3伝熱部において、前記第2側板の前記外面から前記第2伝熱部が接続される端部までの長さは、前記第2側板の板厚方向における前記突出部の長さと同じである、
    請求項10に記載の電池モジュール。
  12.  前記ホルダは、前記第2側板における前記電池セルと反対側の外面に設けられた突出部を有し、
     前記第2伝熱部は、前記第2側板の板厚方向における前記突出部の長さと同じ厚さを有する、
    請求項10に記載の電池モジュール。
  13.  請求項1~12のいずれか1項に記載の電池モジュールと、
     前記電池モジュールを収容するケースと、
     を備え、
     前記電池モジュールは、前記伝熱部材の前記第1伝熱部及び第2伝熱部の各々が前記ケースにおいて交差している第1内壁面及び第2内壁面に熱的に接触するように前記ケースに固定される、
     電池パック。
