Description
EASY OPENABLE AND RECLOSABLE «FLOW-PACK» TYPE WRAPPING
PACKAGE
Field of the invention
The invention relates to packaging of piece articles such as candies, wafers, ice-cream, boiled sweets, baked goods, chewing gum, refreshing and vitamin tablets, etc. «Flow- pack» type wrapping package must provide not only protection of the packed article from mechanical damages but from direct influence of harmful environmental factors, such as sunbeams, precipitations, dust, water vapors, and harmful gases.
Prior art
«Flow-pack» type wrapping package with one longitudinal and two transverse seams (see "YnaKOBKa" (Upakovka) 2012, No. 6, pp. 25 - 29) has been widely used for piece articles. Such package is easy in manufacture, cost efficient, and provides a good protection from external actions. However, the drawback of the mentioned «Flow-pack» type wrapping package is that it does not provide for easy, safe reclosing while providing for easy opening. The known flexible materials used in manufacture of «Flow-pack» type wrapping packages are usually multilayered non-oriented and oriented films and laminates of several materials such as oriented polypropylene, oriented polyethylene terephthalate - polyethylene, oriented polypropylene - polyethylene, etc. Such films and laminates are easily welded or glued but they do not ensure safe reclosing of «Flow-pack» type wrapping packages, for example, by means of torsion of a package's open end.
The closest prior art document to the given invention, by the set of features and the result to be achieved, relates to a package with a reclosure function is RU 2404905 C).
The known wrapping package is characterized in that:
it has one longitudinal and two transverse seams;
it is made of a polymeric film, on which a permanent adhesive (cold-seal) is applied;
- the applied permanent adhesive streak is re-attachable to another streak to close a package.
The mentioned package can be easily opened and reclosed afterwards thereby coupling the applied streaks of permanent adhesive. The applied adhesive enables to close a package only several times.
Drawbacks of the known solution include:
potential blotting of the packaged article with permanent adhesive, which can spoil the article and create a danger for consumers;
considerable cost of permanent adhesive and a complicated technology of its application;
complicated equipment necessary for the manufacture of packaging material; necessity of applying an antiadhesive layer to a reverse side of the packaging material bearing the permanent adhesive (to exclude potential gluing of a rolled material); contamination of an adhesive layer, which can result in unsatisfactory reclosing of the packaging material;
lowering strength of the adhesive seam with every reclosing of the «Flow-pack» type wrapping package, which may eventually result in failure of reclosing;
impossibility of avoiding tampering of the «Flow-pack» type wrapping package. Summary of the invention
The aim of the proposed invention is to avoid potential contact of an article with a permanent adhesive, to simplify manufacturing of packaging films and to lower its final costs.
The above aim is achieved by that the multilayered polymeric packaging material (MPPM) used for the manufacture of «Flow-pack» type wrapping packages has an outer sealing layer, which facilitates opening of the package, and inner layers that facilitate reclosing the opened portion of the «Flow-pack» type wrapping package by torsion. Inner layers of MPPM can consist of several layers of polystyrene with a copolymer, and layers of crystallizable polymers, for example: a layer in the center of MPPM is made of crystallizable polymer, and surrounding layers are made of polystyrene and 25-85 wt.% copolymer obtained by polymerization of 20-35 wt.% styrene and 65-80 wt.% butadiene.
The use of MPPM with a welded or glued seam having no residual adhesive capacity will provide for prevention of tampering, contact of adhesive with the product and removes other drawbacks related to the use of permanent adhesive, and combination of material layers will provide for reclosing the opened portion of the «Flow-pack» type wrapping package by torsion.
Industrial applicability
The invention can be widely used in packaging of piece articles, in particular, chewing gum and candies, etc., the «Flow-pack» type wrapping package is easily opened, for example, by tearing off a part of a package, or pulling apart a welded seam, and can be repeatedly closed by twisting aportion of the package, which became free after removal of the product.

MPPM for «Flow-pack» type wrapping package is obtained by the known method described in Patent UA40580C2, namely by extrusion of at least three layers of molten polymers, combining such layers into one MPPM, wherein the inner layer of MPPM is obtained by extrusion of a molten polymeric composition (15-55 wt.% polystyrene and 25- 85 wt.% copolymer obtained by polymerization of 20-35 wt.% styrene and 65-80 wt.% butadiene) with cooling and stretching the film, and outer layers of MPPM having a thickness of 10-35 % of the total composition thickness are made of high-pressure polyethylene or polypropylene. Several films obtained by the proposed method can be placed between outer layers of MPPM, sharing layers of high-pressure polyethylene or polypropylene. The technology of producing MPPM does not provide for particular orientation of its structure after extrusion or coextrusion to acquirethe necessary properties of retention of bending or torsion deformation, thereby substantially simplifying the process. The particularly important property of the obtained MPPM is substantial absence of deformation (torsion) of edges, which substantially lowers the rate of defective products in machine packaging of small piece food products, thereby increasing technological effectiveness of the process and reliability of packaging machine operation.
