Abstract

There is presented a smoking article (1) comprising a smoking article rod portion (2) comprising a longitudinal end surface (16) and a filter unit (3) coupled onto the longitudinal end surface (16). The filter unit (3) comprises a surface (23) configured to at least partially face the said longitudinal end surface (16) of the smoking article rod portion (2); and, a seal (100) extending over at least part of the surface (23) of the filter unit (3) and configured to restrict the ingress of air (30) into the smoking article (1). Also presented is a filter unit (3) arranged to be coupled to a smoking article (1). Also presented are: a smoking article (1) comprising a filter unit (3) and a smoking article rod portion (2); a smoking article (1) comprising a filter unit (3), seal (100) and a smoking article rod portion (2); a smoking article rod portion (2) comprising a seal (100); and a method for forming a filter unit (3).
