Description

Insert for water distribution in a toilet bowl
The invention relates to an insert for water distribution in a toilet bowl, and more particularly in a rimless toilet bowl.
As compared to the conventional toilet bowls with rims, rimless toilet bowls are more hygienic and are easier to clean. In the conventional toilet bowls with rims, flush water first flows under the ceramic rim, and then flows out of the rim to flush the bowl and clean excrement. In the rimless toilet bowl water flows directly out of a certain part of the bowl, and then flushes the whole surface of the bowl to clean excrement.
The European patent EP2602391 discloses an insert for water distribution in a rimless toilet bowl, which is designed to divide an inlet water jet into three outlet jets, two of which are directed to the sides of the toilet bowl, while the remaining one flushes downwardly. Said insert is open from the bottom, and as a result it can be only applied in dedicated bowls, where the water duct is appropriately narrowed at the bottom, which means, that its bottom part is designed to provide suitable flush of water in the insert.
There is therefore a need to provide an insert for water distribution in the rimless toilet bowl, which could be applied in different types of bowls provided with a wide water duct.
The object of this invention is to provide the insert for water distribution in the toilet bowl, comprising outlet side openings and an outlet central opening, characterized in that the insert has a body having the form of a single sleeve forming water duct, wherein on its one there is provided an inlet flange, whose central point determines the insert axis, while its other end is provided with the outlet side openings located above the insert axis and with the outlet central opening located below the insert axis. Preferably, stabilizing protrusions are provided on the outer surface of the water duct body of the insert.
Preferably, a cut-out is provided in the flange.
Preferably, the width of the outlet side openings is greater than their height, Preferably, width of the outlet central opening is greater than its height,
Preferably, on its outlet face said insert is ended with a wall being inclined between 1 10 to 130 degrees, preferably 123 degrees from the upper edge of the water duct body of the insert.
Preferably, a fixing catch is provided in the upper part of the outlet face,
Preferably, the said insert is made of plastic material.
The present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures wherein, Fig. 1 illustrates part of the toilet bowl with the assembled insert for water distribution, showing the insert in cross section; Fig. 2 illustrates part of the toilet bowl with the insert for water distribution, showing the insert in the longitudinal section; Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the insert as seen from the bottom; Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the insert seen from the top; Fig. 5 shows the views of the insert for water distribution.
Fig. 1 and 2 illustrate insert 14 for water distribution applied in the toilet bowl 42 comprising the inner part 20 and the outer part 10 being separated from each other with the upper edge 22 forming the surface, where a toilet seat is positioned, The back part of the toilet bowl 42 may be provided with a cover 24 covering an outlet 12 of the water duct and the insert 14, so that only narrow opening 26 for water discharge from the insert to the inner part 20 of the toilet bowl is provided. Flush water is supplied through the outlet 12 of the water duct in the bowl to the insert 14, where it further flows through the water duct 16 formed by the single (i.e. lacking any openings between the flange 18 and the outlet openings 30, 31 , 44) sleeve to the three outlet openings 30, 31 , 44 in the insert 14. The bottom part of the water duct 16 (near the outlet openings 30, 31 , 44) in the insert 14 is upwardly inclined in the direction of the water flow, forming this way a narrowing 38 in the insert, which increases the speed of the water jet flowing through the duct and directs the water jet towards the outlet openings 30, 31 , 44, where the water flows out to the inner part 20 of the toilet bowl 42. The flange 18 deternnines how deep said insert is positioned in the water duct of the toilet bowl.
Position of the insert 14 in relation to the toilet bowl is determined by the cut-out 36 (Fig. 3) in the flange 18 of the insert, which engages with a corresponding protrusion provided in the toilet bowl 42 (not shown in the drawing). Additionally, stabilizing protrusions 28, which stabilize position of the water duct 16, are provided on the outer surface of the body the insert 14. A fixing catch 40 (Fig. 4) stabilizing the outlet part of the insert 14 in the toilet bowl, is provided in the outlet part in the upper part of the insert 14.
In the Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 direction of the water flow through the insert 14 is indicated by arrows. The water flows into the water duct 16 and flows out through two outlet side openings 30, 31 and the outlet central opening 44.
Outlet side openings 30, 31 can have a shape of a regular polygon, for instance a rectangular or a trapezium with rounded corners, or an ellipse with its width (s1 ) greater than its height (hi ) (Fig. 5). The outlet central opening 44 can have a shape of a regular polygon, for instance a rectangular with rounded corners, whose width (s2) is greater than its height (I2) (Fig. 5). On the outlet face the insert 14 is ended with the wall 34 being inclined between 1 10° do 130° (degrees), preferably 123° (degrees) from the upper edge of the water duct 16 body of the insert 14, which guarantees best downward direction of the water flow. Outlet side openings 30, 31 are located in the upper part of the insert 14, wherein their main part, and preferably the whole of the openings, being positioned above the insert axis O (Fig. 5) (wherein the axis O runs through the centre of the flange 18), while the outlet central opening 44 is located in the bottom part of the insert 14, with its main part, and preferably the whole of the opening, being positioned below the insert axis O.
The whole insert 14 can be made of plastic material, for instance polyethylene. The insert according to the invention complies with the requirements for ceramic bowls specified in EN997 standard. Side jets of water are designed to completely flush the bowl's surface, the side openings being so designed (with their suitable shape, surface area and location), so that about 30% of supply water flows through each of them, which makes it possible to thoroughly clean the toilet bowl's surface and prevents the water from flowing outside the bowl, Central jet of water, flowing out of the central opening of the insert, comprises about 40% of the total supply water amount and flows directly to the central part of the bowl's siphon, which guarantees, that toilet paper and excrement in the bowl are immediately wetted and drained to the siphon,
The insert according to invention is an one-element design and can be manufactured by injection moulding in an injection mould, with guarantees reproducibility of its dimensions and precise manufacture. It is designed to be used with tanks of 3 to 6 I capacity. It can be easily assembled in the toilet bowl, Thanks to the design of the water duct 16 formed by a single sleeve, the insert can be applied in different types of toilet bowls while still guaranteeing similar parameters of the water outflow. This eliminates the need to monitor the toilet bowl's dimensions, since the insert can act as the main member providing complete functionality of the water duct in the toilet bowl. The insert has stiff structure, so it can be manufactured using common and inexpensive plastic materials such as polyethylene.
