- the plurality of quantum dots of the pixel are excited by blue excitation light supplied from the outside of the polymer layer to generate light of a specific color corresponding to each of the quantum dots. Display panels have been proposed.
- each pixel has red, green, and blue sub-pixels, and the liquid crystal droplets of the red sub-pixels have quantum dots that are excited by blue light to generate red light.
- the liquid crystal droplets of the green sub-pixel have quantum dots that are excited by blue light to generate green light, and the liquid crystal droplets of the blue sub-pixel have no quantum dots.

When the light passes through the liquid crystal droplet, the quantum dots in the liquid crystal droplet are excited.
- the quantum dot is excited by blue wavelength light to generate red wavelength light
- the quantum dot is excited by blue wavelength light to generate green wavelength light. Therefore, only red light is radiated through the red sub-pixel, only green light is radiated through the green sub-pixel, and no blue dot is present in the blue sub-pixel, so that blue wavelength light is passed through and blue light is radiated. .
- Patent Document 1 since the liquid crystal droplets contain quantum dots that generate light of a specific color, color display is performed even without the color filter described in Non-Patent Document 1 (FIG. 4). - Non-Patent Document 1 since the light from the color filter 106 is polarized and output by the second polarizing plate 107, the viewing angle may be narrowed.
- polarized sunglasses are used in car navigation such as an automobile, there is a possibility that the user may recognize the image as a color tone different from the actual image.
- the conventional liquid crystal display device as described in Non-Patent Document 1 uses a white light source for the backlight unit 115, so that the light use efficiency is extremely low, and a desired contrast cannot be obtained. There are various problems such as narrow corners and inferior color visibility.
