Description

ONSHORE WAVE ENERGY CONVERTER
DESCRIPTION
This invention relates to an Onshore/dry place Wave Energy Converter and methods for using the force of sea wave on a weighted float on a lever/crane, on sea bed, for producing power, electricity and other useful output, on dry land/place.
Machines for useful output are known, but suffer from the disadvantage of being expensive to run as most require input energy that is not easily and continuously available.
An objective of this invention is to provide an Onshore/dry place Wave Energy
Converter, using a unique mechanical combination of known simple elements and the free force of sea waves, which can be portable or fixed, easy and cheap to manufacture and operate. .
Accordingly, this invention provides a weighted float on waves, on lever/crane on seabed, pulling on cords wrapped round ratchets wheels on either sides of the axle of a flywheel, which in turn, turns a generator, geared with a belt, for producing power, electricity and other useful output on dry land/place, the device comprising of:
a flywheel on horizontal axle;
ratchet wheel on either side of axle;
generator;
cords;
lever/crane; weighted float.
Plurality of elements of the Onshore/dry place Wave Energy Converter may be used to achieve desired output.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
1.Flywheelheel(l) on horizontal axle(2) on fix stand(4) on dry land/place, away from sea.
2. Ratchet(3) on either side of Wheel(l) axle, both turning flywheel(l) in the same direction
3. Rotor of Electric generator(5) .geared by belt(6) to outer rim of flywheel(l).
4. Lever/crane arms(8) pivots on fix stand(7) on sea-bed at distance on sea.
5. Cord(9) connnected to one end of crane arm(8), wrapped round ratchet wheel(3) and pulley on stand(7) and connected at the other end to small weight(lO).
6. Cord(12) connected at one end to opposite crane arm(8) and at the other end to weighted float( 1 1 ) resting on waves.
7. Once the installation of the Onshore/dry place Wave Converter is complete, weighted float(l 1) will heave up and down with the motion of the waves, which will pull on cord(12), crane arms(8) and cord(9) turning ratchet wheels(3) and wheel(l) while pulling weight(lO) turning ratchet wheels(3) and flywheel(l) in the same direction.
The resulting effect will convert the up and down motion of the waves into a
unidirectional rotary motion of flywheel(l), turning generator(5) and other useful power output devices.
8. Obviously, numerous variations and modifications can be made without departing from the spirit of the present invention. Therefore, it should be clearly understood that the form of the present invention described above and shown in the accompanying drawing, is illustrative only and is not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.
