- IEEE 802.11 Since IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 802.11 supports the initial wireless LAN technology using the 2.4GHz frequency, various standards of technology are being put into practice or being developed.
- IEEE 802.11b supports communication speeds up to 11Mbps while using frequencies in the 2.4GHz band.
- IEEE 802.11a commercialized after IEEE 802.11b, reduces the impact of interference compared to the frequency of the congested 2.4 GHz band by using the frequency of the 5 GHz band instead of the 2.4 GHz band. Up to 54Mbps.
- IEEE 802.11a has a shorter communication distance than IEEE 802.11b.

- FIG. 6 illustrates a carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) / collision avoidance (CA) method used in WLAN communication.
- CSMA carrier sense multiple access
- CA collision avoidance
- the terminal performing the WLAN communication performs carrier sensing before checking data to check whether the channel is occupied. If a wireless signal of a predetermined intensity or more is detected, it is determined that the corresponding channel is busy, and the terminal delays access to the corresponding channel. This process is called clear channel assessment (CCA), and the level for determining whether a corresponding signal is detected is called a CCA threshold. If a radio signal having a CCA threshold or higher received by the terminal uses the terminal as a receiver, the terminal processes the received radio signal. On the other hand, if a wireless signal is not detected in the corresponding channel or if a wireless signal having a strength smaller than the CCA threshold is detected, the channel is determined to be idle.
- CCA clear channel assessment
- each terminal having data to be transmitted performs a backoff procedure after a time such as Arbitration IFS (AIFS) or PIFS (PCF IFS) according to the situation of each terminal.
- AIFS Arbitration IFS
- PCF IFS PIFS
- the AIFS may be used as a configuration to replace the existing DIFS (DCF IFS).
- DIFS DIFS
- Each terminal waits while reducing the slot time corresponding to a random number allocated to the corresponding terminal during an interval of the idle state of the channel, and the terminal which has exhausted the slot time attempts to access the corresponding channel. Done.
- the interval in which each terminal performs the backoff procedure is called a contention window interval.
- the terminal may transmit data through the channel.
- each collided terminal receives a new random number and performs a backoff procedure again.
- the random number newly allocated to each terminal may be determined within a range (2 * CW) of twice the random number range (competition window, CW) previously allocated by the corresponding terminal.
- each terminal attempts access by performing a backoff procedure again in the next contention window section, and each terminal performs a backoff procedure from the slot time remaining in the previous contention window section. In this way, each of the terminals performing WLAN communication can avoid collisions with each other for a specific channel.
- FIG. 7 illustrates a method of performing a distributed coordination function (DCF) using a request to send (RTS) frame and a clear to send (CTS) frame.
- DCF distributed coordination function
- each terminal having data to be transmitted performs a backoff procedure by decreasing the backoff counter (or a backoff timer) of a random number assigned to each terminal after the time of AIFS.
- the transmitting terminal having the expired backoff counter transmits a Request to Send (RTS) frame to inform that the terminal has data to transmit.
- RTS Request to Send
- the STA1 having the advantage in the competition with the minimum backoff may transmit the RTS frame after the backoff counter expires.
- the RTS frame includes information such as a receiver address, a transmitter address, and a duration.
- the CTS frame includes information such as a receiver address and a duration.
- the receiver address of the CTS frame may be set to be the same as the transmitter address of the corresponding RTS frame, that is, the address of the transmitting terminal STA1.
- the transmitting terminal STA1 receiving the CTS frame transmits data after the time of SIFS.
- the receiving terminal AP transmits an acknowledgment (ACK) frame after the time of SIFS to inform that the data transmission is completed.
- ACK acknowledgment
- the transmitting terminal considers the data transmission successful.
- a response frame is not received within a preset time
- the transmitting terminal considers that data transmission has failed.
- neighboring terminals that receive at least one of an RTS frame and a CTS frame during the transmission process set a network allocation vector (NAV) and do not perform data transmission until the set NAV expires.
- the NAV of each terminal may be set based on the duration field of the received RTS frame or CTS frame.
- the transmitting terminal STA1 which transmits the RTS frame, considers that data transmission is impossible, and receives a new random number to participate in the next competition.
- the newly allocated random number may be determined within the range (2 * CW) of twice the previously set random number range (competition window, CW) as described above.
- the BSS includes an AP and a plurality of STAs STA1, STA2, STA3, and STA4 coupled thereto.
- the block shown with each terminal represents the channel state measured by the corresponding terminal.
- the shaded blocks represent channels occupied and the white blocks represent channels idle.
- one wireless communication terminal may simultaneously transmit data to a plurality of wireless communication terminals. Also, one wireless communication terminal can receive data from a plurality of wireless communication terminals at the same time. For example, multi-user downlink transmission in which an AP simultaneously transmits data to a plurality of STAs, and multi-user uplink transmission in which a plurality of STAs simultaneously transmit data to the AP may be performed. have.
- OFDMA Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access
- MIMO Multi Input Multi Output
- a usage channel and a transmission start time of each STA performing uplink transmission must be adjusted.
- the measured channel states may be different according to the location of each terminal even within the same BSS. That is, depending on the influence of the adjacent external BSS of each terminal, the channels that can be connected to each terminal may be different.
- whether each STA has data for uplink transmission is changed in real time. Therefore, for efficient scheduling of multi-user uplink transmission, state information of each STA needs to be delivered to the AP.
- information for scheduling of multi-user uplink transmission may be indicated through a preamble of a packet and / or a predetermined field of a MAC header.
- the STA may indicate information for multi-user uplink scheduling through a preamble or a predetermined field of the MAC header of the uplink packet and transmit it to the AP.
- the information for multi-user uplink transmission scheduling may include at least one of buffer status information of each STA and channel state information measured at each STA.
- the buffer state information of the STA may indicate at least one of whether the corresponding STA has uplink data to transmit, an access class (AC) of uplink data, and information about a size (or transmission time) of uplink data.
- AC access class
- the multi-user uplink transmission process may be managed by the AP because a plurality of terminals must transmit data at the same time. Therefore, in order to allocate resources and prevent data collision, the AP should acquire buffer status information of each STA before the start of multi-user uplink transmission and transmit accurate transmission time information to each STA.
- the buffer status information of the STA may indicate at least one of whether the corresponding STA has uplink data to transmit, an access category of uplink data, and information about a size (or transmission time) of the uplink data.
- Information transmission of each STA may be performed through an initialization step S210 and a scheduling step S220 for multi-user uplink transmission.
- a scheduling step (S220) for multi-user uplink transmission is performed first so that relevant information is collected, and an initialization step (S210) may be performed when a specific condition is satisfied.
- the initialization step S210 may be performed first according to a temporal condition, and then the scheduling step S220 may be performed to collect related information.
- the initialization step (S210) and the scheduling step (S220) include a process of exchanging information on channels available to the AP and the STA.
- the AP may first transmit channel information available to the plurality of STAs, and the plurality of STAs may feed back channel information available for the STA among the channels available to the AP to the AP.
- a specific operation method of the initialization step S210 and the scheduling step S220 is not limited thereto.
- the initialization step S210 and the scheduling step S220 may be performed in an integrated operation.
- the multi-user uplink data transmission step S230 is performed.
- At least one STA allocated a channel or subchannel from the AP simultaneously transmits uplink data at a time point designated by the AP.
- the STA may perform uplink data transmission in units of 20 MHz channels or wideband channels.
- the non-legacy STA may perform uplink data transmission in units of subchannels smaller than 20 MHz.
- the term resource may be used to mean a channel or a subchannel allocated to an STA.
- the AP which receives the uplink data from the STA, transmits an acknowledgment (ACK) in response thereto (S240).
- ACK acknowledgment
- a plurality of STAs may transmit uplink data on one channel.
- the AP may transmit a group ACK on the corresponding channel and transmit ACKs for a plurality of STAs that have transmitted uplink data.
- channels available to each terminal may be different according to the geographical location of the wireless terminal. Therefore, the number of terminals capable of transmitting data for each channel may be different.
- an air time for performing substantial uplink data transmission may be different for each channel.
- STAs using a channel with a short air time may wait for ACK reception by performing zero padding until a time point of uplink data transmission of the channel with the longest air time is terminated (S250). That is, padding is performed on uplink data transmitted through at least one channel, so that multi-user uplink data transmission in each channel may be terminated at the same time.
- the AP transmits a multiplexed group response accordingly (S244).
- the AP may transmit the multiplexed group response to the first channel having the longest air time among the plurality of channels on which the multi-user uplink transmission is performed.
- the first channel with the longest air time may be a main channel of the corresponding BSS.
- the STAs allocated to channels other than the first channel as the uplink data transmission channel set an ACK timer at the end of uplink data transmission of the corresponding channel, and wait for ACK reception until the set ACK timer expires (S242).
- the other channel may be a channel other than the first channel having the longest air time, that is, a subchannel of the corresponding BSS.
- the ACK timer of each channel represents the time from when the uplink data transmission of the corresponding channel is completed until the multiplexed group response is transmitted. In order to configure the ACK timer, each STA must obtain information on the transmission time of the multiplexed group response.
- Transmission time information of the multiplexed group ACK may be delivered to each STA to perform uplink data transmission in the above-described initialization step (S210) and / or scheduling step (S220).
- the STA in which the ACK timer is set may perform power saving by switching to a sleep mode until the corresponding timer expires.
- each subchannel may be returned immediately after the uplink data transmission ends. Therefore, terminals of the external BSS that use the corresponding subchannel as the primary channel can access the channel and transmit data at an earlier time. As a result, spectral efficiency across the network can be improved.
- FIG. 11 illustrates a NAV setup method for multi-user uplink transmission according to an embodiment of the present invention.
- the same or corresponding parts as those of the embodiment of FIG. 10 described above will be omitted.
- the NAV setup frame may be transmitted to protect the multi-user uplink transmission process.
- the AP transmits a first NAV configuration frame at the start of multi-user uplink transmission (S310).
- the actual transmission length of the multi-user uplink transmission may vary depending on the uplink data length of the STAs and the resource allocation result. Therefore, the duration field value of the first NAV setting frame may be set as a period of an initialization step and a scheduling step.
- an RTS or a CTS of a preset format may be used as the first NAV setting frame.
- any one of a predefined multi-user RTS, RTS-to-self, CTS-to-self, and CTS-to-group may be used for the first NAV configuration frame.
- a second NAV configuration frame is transmitted for NAV configuration during a period in which multi-user uplink transmission and multiplexed group ACK transmission are performed (S320).
- the second NAV configuration frame may be simultaneously transmitted by a plurality of STAs that are allocated resources and participate in multi-user uplink data transmission.
- the plurality of STAs and the AP may simultaneously transmit the second NAV configuration frame.
- the second NAV setting frame may be configured in a CTS frame format. In this case, the second NAV configuration frame transmitted simultaneously by the plurality of STAs and / or the AP may be set to the same waveform.
- NAVs of neighboring terminals are set based on the first NAV setting frame and the second NAV setting frame transmitted as described above (S330 and S340). Since the second NAV setup frame having the same waveform is simultaneously transmitted in 20 MHz channel units, neighboring terminals including the legacy terminal may configure the NAV by receiving the second NAV setup frame. When the second NAV setting frames transmitted simultaneously have the same waveform for each channel, the second NAV setting frame may have duration information reflecting the air time of the corresponding channel. Accordingly, the terminal of the external BSS having obtained the NAV information set in the specific channel may access the channel immediately after the corresponding NAV time expires.
- STAs that transmit uplink data through the subchannel receive the multiplexed group response through the primary channel. If the STAs set the NAV only for the subchannels transmitting uplink data, the UEs of the external BSS adjacent to the STA may perform access to the main channel by considering the main channel as idle. In this case, the STA transmitting the uplink data through the subchannel may not receive the multiplexed group response transmitted through the primary channel.
- STAs transmitting uplink data through the subchannel transmit the second NAV configuration frame through the main channel and the subchannel.
- the main channel through which the second NAV configuration frame is transmitted is the main channel of the BSS to which the corresponding STA belongs.
- the subchannel through which the second NAV configuration frame is transmitted is a subchannel through which the corresponding STA transmits uplink data.
- STA4 and STA5 transmitting uplink data through the subchannel transmit the second NAV configuration frame not only through the subchannel but also through the main channel (S320).
- the STAs additionally perform protection for the main channel through which the multiplexed group response is transmitted as well as the subchannel through which uplink data is transmitted.
- the duration field value of the second NAV setup frame transmitted on the primary channel is set to the point at which transmission of the multiplexed group response is completed.
- the duration field value of the second NAV setting frame transmitted on the subchannel is set to the time when uplink data transmission of the corresponding subchannel is completed.
- STA1, STA2 and STA3 transmitting uplink data through the main channel are not required to transmit additional second NAV setup frame to a channel other than the main channel.
- a frequency masking technique is used to minimize the influence of mutual interference when different terminals communicate through adjacent channels.
- Frequency masking is implemented by intentionally reducing the transmit power at the boundary frequencies (i.e., minimum and maximum frequencies) of the channel currently in use. Therefore, the frequency masking form is different depending on the bandwidth over which the data transmission is performed. That is, the spectral mask 410 of the packet transmitted through the 40 MHz channel is different from the spectral mask 420 of the packet transmitted through two adjacent 20 MHz channels.
- each of the spectral masks 410 and 420 has a difference in the presence or absence of the guard band 430 in the center frequency portion of the 40 MHz channel.
- FIG. 13 illustrates a guard band setting method according to an embodiment of the present invention.
- FIG. 13A illustrates a situation in which data 440 is transmitted to a channel of a first band and data 440 is transmitted only to a channel of a second band after a specific time point.
- the second band has a narrower bandwidth than the first band.
- the first band may represent a 40 MHz bandwidth
- the second band may represent a 20 MHz bandwidth.
- the transmission bandwidth may be changed during the transmission of the data 440 according to the scheduling of the data transmission and the resource allocation result. Even if the transmission bandwidth is changed in this way, the spectral mask of the RF chain can be maintained in its original form.
- the transmission band of data when the transmission band of data is changed from the first band to the second band, the data 440 having no guard band 442 may be transmitted.
- the terminal of the external BSS (OBSS) attempts to transmit in the idle band of the first band, interference may occur due to the absence of the guard band 442 of the data transmitted in the second band.
- OBSS external BSS

- the base band may be a 20MHz band, the present invention is not limited thereto. As such, by setting a resource not exceeding the basic band to be allocated to a single terminal, the guard band 450 of the basic band unit may be formed.
- each terminal when multi-user data transmission is performed, each terminal may be allowed to allocate data of a wide bandwidth exceeding a basic band. However, the terminal may perform nulling on a frequency component corresponding to the guard band 450 of the basic band unit among the broadband data, thereby preventing interference with an external BSS terminal.
- the terminal may transmit the data by setting the guard band 450 based on the changed second band. . That is, when the transmission bandwidth is reduced during data transmission, the terminal transmits the data by setting a spectrum mask based on the reduced transmission bandwidth.

Description
IEEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 802.11은 2.4GHz 주파수를 이용한 초기의 무선랜 기술을 지원한 이래, 다양한 기술의 표준을 실용화 또는 개발 중에 있다.

일반적으로 BSS는 인프라스트럭쳐 BSS(infrastructure BSS)와 독립 BSS(Independent BSS, IBSS)로 구분될 수 있으며, 도 1은 이 중 인프라스트럭쳐 BSS를 나타내고 있다.

도 6은 무선랜 통신에서 사용되는 CSMA(Carrier Sense Multiple Access)/CA(Collision Avoidance) 방법을 나타내고 있다.
도 7은 RTS(Request to Send) 프레임과 CTS(Clear to Send) 프레임을 이용한 DCF(Distributed Coordination Function) 수행 방법을 나타낸 도면이다.
레거시 프리앰블은 레거시 단말에서 디코딩 가능하며, L-STF(legacy short training field), L-LTF(legacy long training field) 및 L-SIG(legacy signal field)를 포함한다. HE-SIG-A(HE signal A field), HE-SIG-B(HE signal B field), HE-STF(HE short training field), HE-LTF(HE long training field)
레거시 프리앰블과 논-레거시 프리앰블은 논-레거시 PSDU(PHY Service Data Unit)의 앞부분에 삽입된다.
또는, AP는 일반적인 프레임에 비해 트리거 프레임에 대해 강인한 MCS(Modulation and Coding Scheme)를 적용할 수 있다.
