Description
실시예는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치에 관한 것이다.
헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(head-up display)란, 조정사나 운전자의 시선 이동을 최소화하기 위해 조정사나 운전자의 주시선 위치에 주행에 필요한 다양한 정보를 외부 시야와 함께 중첩시켜 허상으로서 표시하는 전방 시현 장치이다.
헤드 업 디스플레이 장치는 표시부, 광학계, 홀로그래픽 컴바이너(holographic combiner) 등으로 구성되며, 현재 차량의 속도, 위치 등의 주행정보를 표시부를 통해 소정의 이미지로 형성하고, 형성된 이미지는 광학계를 사용하여 차량의 전면 유리창인 윈드실드(windshield)에 부착된 홀로그래픽 컴바이너에 투사한다. 그리고, 차량 전방의 허공에 소정의 이미지가 결상되어 운전자는 결상 된 이미지를 통해 시야를 돌려 계기판을 확인하지 않고도 현재 차량의 위치나 속도 등의 주행과 관련된 정보 등을 볼 수 있도록 한다.
이러한 헤드 업 디스플레이 시스템에서 현재까지는 차량 주행과 관련된 정보를 소정의 이미지로 표현하기 위한 표시부로 CRT(Cathode-Ray Tube)나 LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) 등을 사용하고 있다.
영상 패널을 통과한 영상 정보를 획득한 빛이 미러(mirror)나 윈드실드를 통하여 운전자에게 제공되는데, 영상 패널로 입사되는 빛의 분포가 일정하지 않을 수 있으며 따라서 운전자에게 제공되는 영상의 광균일도가 낮을 수 있다.
특히 발광부에는 발광소자(Light Emitting Diode) 등이 사용되나, 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치에서의 영상 품질을 개선하기 위해서는 발광 소자에서 방출된 빛의 광 손실을 최소화하면서도 균일한 광이 영상 패널로 공급되도록 하는 것이 필요하다.
실시예는 휘도가 향상된 허상을 헤드 업 디스플레이할 수 있고, 광균일도가 고른 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치를 제공하고자 한다.
또한, 실시예는 광원과 영상 패널 사이에 복수의 광학 부재를 배치하여 광 균일도를 개선하여 고품질의 영상을 얻을 수 있는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치를 제공한다.

도 1은 실시예에 따른 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치를 장착한 차량을 나타낸 도면이다.
도 1에 예시된 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(100)는 광원부(110), 광학부(120), 영상 패널(130) 및 제어부를 포함할 수 있다.
광원부(110)은 광을 방출하며, 적어도 하나의 광원(112) 및 기판(114)을 포함할 수 있다.
기판(114) 위에 적어도 하나의 광원(112)이 배치될 수 있다. 기판(114)은 광원(112)에 전기적 연결을 위한 전극 패턴이 형성될 수 있으며, 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트(PET), 유리, 폴리카보네이트(PC), 실리콘(Si)으로부터 선택된 어느 한 물질로 이루어진 PCB(Printed Circuit Board) 기판일 수도 있고, 필름 형태로 형성될 수도 있다.
또한, 기판(114)은 단층 PCB, 다층 PCB, 세라믹 기판, 메탈 코아 PCB 등을 선택적으로 사용할 수 있다.
제어부는 기판(114)을 통해 적어도 하나의 광원(112)을 구동시키는 역할을 한다. 여기서, 적어도 하나의 광원(112)은 복수의 광원을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 적어도 하나의 광원(112)은 발광 다이오드(LED:Light Emitting Device) 또는 레이저(Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation)일 수 있으나, 실시예는 광원(112)의 종류에 국한되지 않는다.
적어도 하나의 광원(112)은 측면 발광형(side view type) 발광 다이오드 또는 상면 발광형(top view type) 발광 다이오드일 수 있다.
광원(112)이 발광 다이오드 칩(LED chip)일 경우, 발광 다이오드 칩은 블루 LED 칩 또는 자외선 LED 칩으로 구성되거나 또는 레드 LED 칩, 그린 LED 칩, 블루 LED 칩, 엘로우 그린(Yellow green) LED 칩, 화이트 LED 칩 중에서 적어도 하나 또는 그 이상을 조합한 패키지 형태로 구성될 수도 있다.
여기서, 화이트 LED는 블루 LED 상에 옐로우 형광체(Yellow phosphor)를 결합하거나, 블루 LED 상에 레드 형광체(Red phosphor)와 그린 형광체(Green phosphor)를 동시에 사용하여 구현할 수 있고, 블루 LED 상에 옐로우 형광체(Yellow phosphor), 레드 형광체(Red phosphor) 및 그린 형광체(Green phosphor)를 동시에 사용하여 구현할 수도 있다.
만일, 적어도 하나의 광원(112)이 복수의 광원을 포함할 경우, 복수의 광원은 서로 다른 파장을 갖는 광을 방출할 수도 있고 서로 동일한 파장 대역을 갖는 광을 방출할 수도 있다. 이때, 제어부는 기판(114)을 통해 복수의 광원(112) 중 적어도 하나의 광원의 발광 여부를 제어하여, 복수의 광원(112)이 교대로 작동하도록 제어할 수도 있다.
또한, 복수의 광원(112)이 적색, 녹색 및 청색 성분의 광을 방출할 경우, 헤드 업 디스플레이될 허상을 컬러로 표현하기 위해, 제어부(150)는 이러한 복수의 광원(112)의 점멸을 기판(114)을 통해 제어할 수 있다.
도시된 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(100)가 복수의 광원(112)의 위치를 가변시키는 모터(미도시)를 포함할 경우, 제어부는 적어도 하나의 광원(112)의 위치를 제어하기 위해 모터를 구동시킬 수도 있다.
또한, 헤드 업 디스플레이될 허상의 휘도를 조절하기 위해, 제어부는 광원(112)에서 방출되는 광의 밝기 정도를 제어할 수도 있다. 이로 인해, 야간 또는 강하고 직접적인 태양광 등이 존재하는 주간에 높은 품질의 광이 제공될 수 있도록 한다.
광학부(120)는 제1 광학 부재와 광학 시트 및 제2 광학 부재로 이루어질 수 있으며, 후술한다.
도시되지는 않았으나, 광원부(110)과 광학부(120)의 사이에는 광 가이드가 배치될 수 있다. 광 가이드는 광원(112)의 광축 상에 배치되어 하나의 광원(112)으로부터 방출된 광을 광학부(120)로 가이드한다. 광 가이드부는 예를 들어, PMMA(Polymethylmethacrylate)와 같은 아크릴 수지 계열, PET(polyethylene terephthlate), COC(Cyclic Olefin Copolymers), PEN(polyethylene naphthalate), PC(Polycarbonate), PS(Polystyrene), 또는 MS(Mathacylate styrene) 수지 중 어느 하나를 포함할 수 있지만, 실시 예는 광 가이드부의 물질에 국한되지 않는다.
영상 패널(130)은 정보를 갖는 영상을 생성하고, 예를 들면 액정 표시 장치(LCD:Liquid Crystal Display), DLP(Digital Light Processing) 또는 LCoS(Liquid Crystal on Silicon) 중 적어도 하나를 포함할 수 있지만, 실시 예는 영상 패널(130)의 종류에 국한되지 않는다.
예를 들어, 영상 패널(130)이 LCD일 경우, LCD에 포함되는 액정 패널은 2장의 판 유리 사이에 액정을 주입받고 소자 패턴 즉, 배선에 구간되는 도트(픽셀)이 형성되고, 각 픽셀은 얇은 막 트랜지스터(TFT)에 의해 제어된다. 이와 같이, LCD는 화상 표시가 이루어지는 주지의 화상 표시 장치이다.
제어부는 정보를 갖는 영상 데이터를 영상 패널(130)로 제공하고, 영상 패널(130)은 제어부로부터 받은 영상 데이터를 이용하여 영상을 생성한다. 이를 위해, 제어부는 외부의 차량 정보 제공부(미도시) 등과 전기적으로 접속하여, 영상 데이터를 받을 수 있다. 예를 들어, 차량 정보 제공부는 자동차를 위한 여러 가지 기능을 실행할 수 있는 소프트웨이가 담긴 일종의 컴퓨터인 ECU(Electronic Control Unit)를 포함할 수 있다.
또한, 제어부는 실시 예에 의한 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(100)에서 필요로 하는 전원을 공급하는 역할을 수행할 수도 있다.
헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(100)는 주로 차량이나 항공기 등에 배치될 수 있는데, 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(100)는 윈드실드유리(202) 아래에 배치될 수 있지만, 실시 예는 차량(200) 내에서 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(100)의 위치에 국한되지 않는다.
도 1에서 차량(200)은 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(100), 윈드실드유리(windshield glass)(202) 및 광 합성부(combiner)(204)를 포함할 수 있다. 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(100)는 윈드실드유리(202) 아래에 배치될 수 있지만, 실시 예는 차량(200) 내에서 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(100)의 위치에 국한되지 않는다.
도시되지는 않았으나, 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(100)는 영상 패널(130)에서 방출된 광을 광 합성부(204) 방향으로 전달하는 반사 부재를 더 포함할 수 있다.
영상 패널(130)에서 투사된 허상은 광 합성부(204)로 조사될 수 있는데, 허상이 광 합성부(204)로 조사될 경우, 광 합성부(204)는 조사된 광을 회절시켜 운전자(210)에게 허상(190)이 인식될 수 있도록 할 수 있고, 운전자(210)는 허상(190)으로부터 전달되는 이미지(184)를 관측할 수 있다. 광 합성부(204)는 윈드실드유리(202) 위에 배치될 수 있는 홀로그램(hologram)(미도시)을 포함할 수 있으며, 경우에 따라 생략될 수도 있다.
도 2는 도 1의 광원과 제1 광학 부재를 나타낸 도면이다.
광원부(110)는 기판(114) 상에 배치되는 5개의 광원(112, a1~a5)을 포함하고, 제1 광학 부재(122)는 몸체(122a) 상에 곡면(122b)이 배치되는데, 곡면(122b)는 광원(a1~a5)의 개수와 동일하게 5개의 곡면(b1~b5)을 포함할 수 있다. 이때, 각각의 곡면(b1~b5)는 각각의 광원(a1~a5)으로부터 방출되는 광(점선으로 도시됨)의 광축 상에 배치될 수 있다.
5개의 광원(a1~a5)들이 배치된 방향과 제2 광학 부재(124) 내에서 제1 면(S1)과 제2 면(S2)가 배치된 방향은 동일할 수 있다.
제1 광학 부재(122)는 광원부(110) 방향의 제1 면(S1)과 반대 방향의 제2 면(S2)를 포함할 수 있는데, 곡면(b1~b5)은 제2 면(S2)에 형성될 수 있다. 그리고, 5개의 광원(a1~a5)들이 배치된 방향과 제2 광학 부재(124) 내에서 제1 면(S1)과 제2 면(S2)가 배치된 방향은 동일할 수 있다.
각각의 곡면(b1~b5)의 단면의 적어도 일부는 타원일 수 있고, 상세하게는 각각의 곡면(b1~b5)의 단면의 적어도 일부는 아래의 수학식 1로 정의되는 형상을 가질 수 있다.

도 3은 도 1의 제1 광학 부재와 광학 시트 및 제2 광학 부재를 나타낸 도면이고, 도 4는 도 3의 제2 광학 부재의 사시도이다.
제1 광학 부재(122)에서 경로가 변경된 광은 광학 시트(124)를 통과하여 제2 광학 부재(126)로 전달될 수 있다.
광학 시트(124)는 디퓨저 시트 또는 프리즘 시트일 수 있고, 광학 시트(124)는 제1 광학 부재(122)로부터 방출되어 제2 광학 부재(126)로 향하는 빛의 주된 전달 방향 내지 광축에 수직일 수 있다.
제2 광학 부재(126)는 광학 시트(124) 방향인 제1 방향의 제1 면(126a)과 도시되지는 않았으나 영상 패널 방향인 제2 방향의 제2 면(126b)을 포함하고, 제1 면(126a)과 제2 면(126b)은 각각 곡면일 수 있다.
제1 면(126a)은 광학 시트(124) 방향으로 볼록하고 제2 면(126b)은 제1 면과 반대 방향으로 볼록한 형상일 수 있다.
제2 광학 부재(126) 내에서 제1 면(S1)의 곡률은 15 내지 30일 수 있고, 제2 면(S2)의 곡률은 -30 내지 -15이며, 제2 광학 부재(126)의 중심에 대하여 제1 면(S1)과 제2 면(S2)는 대칭일 수 있다.
도 5는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치의 일실시예의 배치를 상세히 나타낸 도면이다.
도 5에서, 제1 광학 부재 내의 곡면(122b)의 곡률은 아래의 수학식 2를 만족할 수 있다.

제2 광학(126)의 제1 면과 제2 면의 곡률(R1, R2)는 각각 -22.5와 +22.5일 수 있고, 제1 광학 부재(122)의 두께(t1)은 5.7 밀리미터일 수 있고, 제2 광학 부재(126)의 내부 폭(t2)는 10.7 밀리미터일 수 있다.

도 6a 및 도 6b는 실시예에 따른 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치에 따른 영상의 광균일도를 종래와 비교한 도면이다.
도 6a의 실시예에 따른 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치에 따른 영상은 광원들 사이의 이격 공간인 부분이 줄어들어서, 광 균일도가 도 6b의 종래의 광균일도에 비하여 개선된 것을 알 수 있다.
도 7은 제2 실시예의 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치의 구성을 나타낸 블록도이다.
제2 실시예의 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(300)는 광원부(310), 광 가이드부(320), 영상 생성부(330), 허상 광학부(340) 및 제어부(350)를 포함할 수 있다.
광원부(310)는 영상 생성부로 공급되는 광을 방출하며, 복수의 광원(312) 및 기판(314)을 포함할 수 있다.
복수의 광원(312)은 기판(314) 상에 배치될 수 있다. 기판(314)에는 광원(312)과 전기적 연결을 위한 전극 패턴이 형성될 수 있으며, 도 1에서 설명한 기판(114)과 동일하 할 수 있다.
제어부(350)는 기판(314)을 통해 복수의 광원(112)을 구동시키는 역할을 할 수 있다.
복수의 광원(312)은 예를 들어, 발광 다이오드(LED:Light Emitting Device) 또는 레이져(Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation)일 수 있으나, 실시예는 광원(312)의 종류에 국한되지 않는다.

또한, 헤드 업 디스플레이에서 디스플레이될 허상의 휘도를 조절하기 위해, 제어부(350)는 광원(312)에서 방출되는 광의 밝기 정도를 제어할 수도 있다. 이로 인해, 야간 또는 강하고 직접적인 태양광 등이 존재하는 주간 등 주변 환경에 맞게 높은 품질의 광이 제공될 수 있다.
한편, 광 가이드부(320)는 복수의 광원(312)의 광축 상에 배치되어 광원부(310)로부터 방출된 광을 영상 생성부(330)로 가이드 할 수 있다.
영상 생성부(330)는 정보를 갖는 영상을 생성하고, 광 가이드부(320)에 의해 가이드 된 광에 의해, 정보를 갖는 영상을 '영상 광'으로서 투사할 수 있다.
예를 들어, 영상 생성부(330)는 액정 표시 장치(LCD:Liquid Crystal Display), DLP(Digital Light Processing) 또는 LCoS(Liquid Crystal on Silicon) 중 적어도 하나를 포함할 수 있지만, 실시예는 영상 생성부(330)의 종류에 국한되지 않는다.
제어부(350)는 정보를 갖는 영상 데이터를 영상 생성부(330)로 제공하고, 영상 생성부(330)는 제어부(350)로부터 받은 영상 데이터를 이용하여 영상을 생성한다. 이를 위해, 제어부(150)는 외부의 차량 정보 제공부(미도시) 등과 전기적으로 접속하여, 영상 데이터를 받을 수 있다. 예를 들어, 차량 정보 제공부는 ECU(Electronic Control Unit)일 수 있으며, 제어부(350)와 ECU는 전기적으로 연결될 수 있다.
ECU는 차량의 운행 및 자동차의 장치에 관한 정보를 저장 및 제어할 수 있으며, 제어부(350)는 이러한 정보 데이터를 수신받아 이를 영상 정보로 구현하도록 영상 데이터로 변환하는 역할을 할 수 있다.
예를 들어, 제어부(350)는 자동차의 내부 시스템인 ECU 등에서 전달되는 주행정보를 디스플레이가 가능한 데이터로 변환하는 프로세스를 실행할 수 있다.
그 밖에도 제어부(350)는 제2 실시 예에 의한 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(300)에서 필요로 하는 전원을 공급하는 역할을 수행할 수도 있다. 예를 들어, 제어부(350)는 기판(314) 및 영상 생성부(330) 각각에 전원을 공급할 수 있다.
허상 광학부(340)는 영상 생성부(330)로부터 투사되며 영상을 획득한 영상 광으로부터 허상을 생성하여 출력단자(OUT)를 통해 출력할 수 있다.
허상 광학부(340)는 적어도 하나의 반사 미러를 포함할 수 있으며, 적어도 하나의 반사 미러의 위치를 조절하는 위치 조절부와, 위치 조절부를 제어하여 적어도 하나의 반사 미러의 반사 각도 또는 회절 각도 중 적어도 하나를 조절하는 구동 모터부를 더 포함할 수 있다.
예를 들어, 적어도 하나의 반사 미러는 평탄형, 오목형, 볼록형 또는 맞춤형 프리 폼 형태의 미러 중 어느 하나를 포함하는 것일 수 있다.
반사 미러는 Al(Aluminum), Ag(Silver), Au(Gold) 중 적어도 어느 하나로 이루어지는 반사층을 표면에 포함하여 형성될 수 있다.
또한, 적어도 하나의 반사 미러는 공급된 영상 광의 투사 방향을 바꾸는 방향전환 미러를 포함할 수도 있다.
이하, 전술한 도 7에 예시된 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(300)의 이해를 돕기 위해, 차량(400)에 장착된 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(300)에 대해 설명한다. 그러나, 도 8에 예시된 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(300)는 도 8에 예시된 차량(400) 이외에 비행기 등 다양한 탈것에 장착될 수도 있다.
도 8은 도 7에 예시된 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(300)를 장착한 차량(400)의 일 실시예를 나타내는 도면으로서, 도 1의 제어부(350)의 도시는 생략되었다.
도 8을 참조하면, 차량(400)은 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(300), 윈드실드유리(windshield glass)(402) 및 광 합성부(combiner)(404)를 포함할 수 있다. 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(300)는 윈드실드 유리(402) 아래에 배치될 수 있지만, 실시예는 차량(400) 내에서 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(300)의 위치에 국한되지 않는다.

도 9는 도 8에 도시된 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(300)에서 광원부(310), 광가이드부(320), 영상 생성부(330) 및 허상 광학부(340)의 구성에 대한 측단면도를 나타낸 것이다.
도 9의 도시를 참조하면, 광원부(310)와 영상 생성부(330)사이에 광 가이드부(320)가 배치될 수 있다.
광 가이드부(320)는 광원부(310)에 인접하여 배치되는 제1 광학부재(322)와 영상 생성부(330)에 인접하여 배치되는 제2 광학부재(326)를 포함할 수 있다.
제1 광학부재(322)는 베이스 기판(322-1)과 렌즈부(322-2)를 포함할 수 있다. 렌즈부(322-2)는 베이스 기판(322-1)에서 돌출되어 형성될 수 있다.
이때 베이스 기판(322-1)은 복수의 광원과 마주보고, 렌즈부(322-2)는 제2 광학부재(326) 방향으로 돌출되도록 배치될 수 있으며, 베이스 기판(322-1)은 광원부(310)의 광축(O1, O2)과 수직되도록 배치될 수 있다.
제2 광학부재(326)는 제1 광학부재(322) 상에 배치될 수 있으며, 복수의 광원을 포함한 광원부(310) 방향으로 볼록한 곡면을 갖는 광입사면(326-1)과 광입사면에 대향하며 영상 생성부(330) 방향으로 볼록한 곡면을 갖는 광출사면(326-2)을 포함할 수 있다.
또한, 광 가이드부(320)에는 중간부재(324)를 더 포함할 수 있다.
중간부재(324)는 제1 광학부재(322)와 제2 광학부재(326) 사이에 배치될 수 있다. 중간부재(324)는 제1 광학부재(322)를 통과하여 집중된 광원의 빛을 확산시키는 것일 수 있다.
예를 들어, 중간부재(324)는 확산판(Diffuser Sheet)일 수 있다.
중간부재(324)는 제1 광학부재를 통과한 광원의 빛을 확산시킴으로써, 중간부재를 통과한 광의 휘도 균일도(Uniformity)를 향상시킬 수 있다.
예를 들어, 중간부재(324)를 광 가이드부에 포함함으로써 광원의 중심부와 가장자리의 휘도 차이에서 기인한 광원 얼룩을 감소하여 균일한 광을 얻을 수 있다.
또한, 중간부재(324)는 프리즘시트(Prism sheet) 또는 DBEF(Dual Brightness Enhancement Film) 중 적어도 하나를 더 포함할 수 있다. 프리즘 시트 또는 DBEF를 포함하는 경우 중간부재를 통과한 광원의 휘도는 증가될 수 있다.
한편, 광원(312)의 광축과 제1 광학부재 렌즈부(322-2)의 광축이 일치하도록 렌즈부(322-2)의 중간부가 광원(312)의 광축(O1, O2) 상에 위치할 수 있으며, 또한 제2 광학부재의 광입사면(326-1)의 중심부와 광출사면(326-2)의 중심부도 광원(312)의 광축(O1, O2) 상에 위치하도록 배치될 수 있다.
도 9에 도시된 실시예의 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치에서 복수의 광원(312)은 2개의 행으로 배열된 것일 수 있다. 예를 들어 도 9의 실시예는 6개의 광원을 포함하는 경우일 수 있지만, 실시예는 광원(312)의 개수에 국한되지 않는다. 즉, 제2 실시예에 의한 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치(300)의 광원부(310)는 6개보다 더 많거나 더 적은 광원(312)을 포함할 수도 있다.
예를 들어, 도 9의 실시예에서 6개의 광원은 x축 방향으로 3개의 광원이 정렬되어 배치되고, 하나의 행을 이루는 3개의 광원이 y축 방향으로 2행으로 배치된 경우일 수 있다. 즉, 실시예에서 6개의 광원은 2행 3열로 배열될 수 있지만, 복수의 광원의 배열 형태는 도시된 실시예에 한정되지 않으며, 다양한 형태로 배치될 수 있다.
도 10a 내지 도 10b는 제1 광학부재(322)에 대한 일 실시예들을 나타낸 도면이다.
도 10a 내지 도 10b의 도시를 참조하면, 제1 광학부재에서 렌즈부(322-2)는 반구형 또는 반타원구형의 형상일 수 있다. 즉, 베이스 기판(322-1) 상에 반구형 또는 반타원구형의 렌즈부(322-2)가 돌출되어 형성된 것일 수 있다.
이때, 렌즈부(322-2)는 광원을 덮을 수 있는 크기이며, 렌즈부(322-2)가 베이스 기판(322-1)과 만나는 면에서의 단면의 면적은 광원의 단면적 이상일 수 있다.
도 10a의 (a)는 제1 광학부재의 평면도를 나타낸 도면이고, (b)는 (a)도면에서 AA`선으로 절단한 단면을 나타낸 도면이고, (c)는 (a)도면에서 BB`선으로 절단한 단면을 나타낸 도면이다.
각각의 광원에 대응하여 배치되도록 형성된 렌즈부(322-2)는 이웃하는 적어도 하나의 렌즈부와 외곽 영역이 중첩되어 형성될 수 있다.
예를 들어, 도 10a를 참조하면 도면에서 행 방향으로 이웃하여 배치되는 렌즈부는 서로 이격되어 배치되나, 열 방향으로 이웃한 렌즈부는 서로 이웃하는 외곽영역이 중첩되도록 형성될 수 있다.

또한, 복수의 렌즈부에서 서로 이웃하는 렌즈부끼리 외곽영역이 모두 중첩되도록 형성될 수도 있다.
이때, 렌즈부(322-2)의 배치 간격은 대응하는 광원의 배치 간격에 따라 달라질 수 있다.
도 10b에서 렌즈부(322-2)의 수평 단면은 타원형일 수 있으며, 예를 들어 렌즈부(322-2)는 반타원구 형태로 베이스 기판(322-1)상에 형성되는 것일 수 있다.
도 10b의 (a)는 제1 광학부재의 평면도를 나타낸 도면이고, (b)는 (a)도면에서 AA`선으로 절단한 단면을 나타낸 도면이고, (c)는 (a)도면에서 BB`선으로 절단한 단면을 나타낸 도면이다.
복수의 렌즈부(322-2)는 서로 이격되어 배치되는 것일 수 있다. 예를 들어, 도 10b를 참조하면 도면에서 행 방향으로 이웃하여 배치되는 렌즈부뿐 아니라 열 방향으로 이웃한 렌즈부도 서로 이격되어 배치될 수 있다.
도 10b에서는 수평 단면의 형상이 수직 방향으로 장축을 갖는 타원형의 실시예를 도시하고 있으나, 렌즈부(322-2)의 형상은 도시된 실시예에 한정되지 않으며, 수평 방향으로 장축을 갖는 타원형의 수평 단면을 갖거나 또는 원형의 수평 단면을 가질 수 있다.
도 10a 내지 도 10b에 도시하여 나타낸 일 실시예의 제1 광학부재는 영상 생성부 방향으로 돌출되어 형성된 렌즈부(322-2)로 인하여, 복수의 광원에서 방출된 빛이 렌즈부(322-2)를 통과하면서 영상 생성부 방향으로 집중되도록 하는 효과를 가질 수 있다.
따라서, 복수의 광원의 배치가 달라지는 경우 제1 광학부재에서의 렌즈부의 배열 형태도 이에 상응하여 다르게 형성될 수 있다.
도 11은 제1 광학부재의 일 실시예에 대한 도면들을 나타낸 것이다.
도 11의 (a)는 제1 광학부재의 평면도를 나타낸 것으로, 도 11의 실시예에서 제1 광학부재의 렌즈부(122-2)는 y축 방향의 지름이 x축 방향의 지름보다 큰 타원형일 수 있으며, y축 방향, 즉 열 방향으로 이웃한 렌즈부는 서로 인접한 부분에서 중첩되도록 형성될 수 있다.
도 11의 (b)는 제1 광학부재의 사시도이고, (c)는 도 11의 (a)에서 AA`선으로 절단한 면에서의 정면도이고, (d)는 도 11의 (a)에서 BB`선으로 절단한 면에서의 정면도에 해당한다.
예를 들어, 도 11에 도시된 제1 광학부재 실시예는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치에 포함된 광원의 개수가 6개이고, 복수의 광원이 2행 3열로 배열된 경우에 사용되는 광학부재일 수 있다.
도 10a 내지 도 11에서 도시된 실시예의 제1 광학부재는 광원 상에 대응하여 렌즈부가 배치되도록 형성되어 광원에서 방출된 빛이 제1 광학부재를 통과하면서 집중되어 방출되도록 할 수 있다.
즉, 제1 광학부재를 광원부 상에 배치하여 광원에서 방출되어 확산되는 빛을 집중시킴으로써 영상 생성부 방향으로 향하는 광의 휘도를 증가시켜 광원부의 광 효율을 향상할 수 있다.
도 12는 제2 광학부재의 일 실시예에 대한 도면들이다.
도 12의 (a)는 제2 광학부재의 평면도를 나타낸 것으로, 점선으로 나타난 부분은 제2 광학부재의 중심부(C)로서 광원의 광축 상에 배치될 수 있다. 즉, 제2 광학부재의 중심부(C)는 수평 기둥의 형상에서 곡면 중 가장 돌출된 부분일 수 있다.
도 12의 (b)는 제2 광학부재의 사시도이고, (c)는 도 12의 (a)에서 AA`선으로 절단한 면에서의 정면도이고, (d)는 도 12의 (a)에서 BB`선으로 절단한 면에서의 정면도에 해당한다.
즉, 제2 광학부재는 광입사면을 이루는 제1 곡선(326-1a)과 광출사면을 이루는 제2 곡선(326-2a)이 서로 연결되어 형성된 수직 단면을 가질 수 있으며, 이러한 단면이 x축 방향으로 연장되어 형성된 수평 기둥 형상일 수 있다. 이때, 제2 광학부재의 수직 단면은 yz면에서의 단면일 수 있다.
한편, 제2 광학부재는 원기둥 중 일부분만을 포함하도록 형성된 입체 형상일수 있다. 즉, 제2 광학부재는 원형의 밑면 원주 중 일부분만을 포함하도록 높이 방향으로 절단된 원기둥이 xy평면을 기준으로 양측으로 대칭되어 형성된 입체 형상일 수 있다. 또한, 제2 광학부재는 이러한 입체 형상이 y축 방향으로 중복되어 배치되는 것일 수 있다.
예를 들어, 2행으로 배열된 광원에 대응하여 제2 광학부재는 2개의 입체 형상이 y축 방향으로 중복되어 배치된 형태를 가질 수 있다.
이때, 제2 광학부재에 포함된 입체 형상에서 곡면의 중심부가 광원의 광축 상에 배치될 수 있다. 도 6의 (b)는 두 개의 입체 형상으로 이루어진 제2 광학부재의 사시도를 나타낸 것이다.
도 13은 제2 광학부재(126)의 다른 실시예를 나타낸 도면이다. 도 13(a)는 제2 광학부재의 사시도이고, 도 13(b)는 도 13(a)에서 BB`선으로 절단된 제2 광학부재의 단면도이다.
도 13(b)를 참조하면 제2 광학부재는 광입사면을 이루는 제1 곡선(326-1a)과 광출사면을 이루는 제2 곡선(326-2a) 및 제1 곡선과 제2 곡선을 연결하는 직선(326-3a)으로 이루어진 수직 단면을 가질 수 있다.
또한, 도 13(a)를 참조하면, 제2 광학부재는 이러한 도 13(b)에 도시된 수직 단면이 x축 방향으로 연장되어 형성되는 수평 기둥의 입체 형상을 가질 수 있다.
즉, 도 13에 도시되어 설명되는 일 실시예의 제2 광학부재는 광입사면과 광출사면이 각각 x축 방향으로 연장되어 있고, 두 개의 곡면인 광입사면과 광출사면 및 광입사면과 광출사면의 양 끝점을 서로 연결한 측면으로 형성되는 입체 형상일 수 있다.
도 12 내지 도 13의 실시예를 참고하면, 제2 광학부재에서 광입사면은 제1 광학부재 방향으로 볼록하게 형성된 곡면이고, 광출사면은 영상 생성부 방향으로 볼록하게 형성된 곡면형상을 가질 수 있으며, 이러한 제2 광학부재의 곡면 형상으로 인하여 광원에서 방출된 빛의 상하 방향 즉 y축 방향의 빛이 좀 더 집중되도록 할 수 있다.
한편, 상술한 도 10a 내지 도 13의 일 실시예의 제1 광학부재(322)와 제2 광학부재(326)는, 상술한 제1 실시예에 따른 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치에 구비되는 광 가이드부와 동일한 재료로 이루어질 수 있다.
또한, 제1 광학부재(322)에서 베이스 기판(322-1)과 렌즈부(322-2)는 동일한 물질로 구성될 수 있으며, 예를 들어 베이스 기판과 렌즈부는 일체(一體)로 형성될 수 있다.
도 14는 광학부재를 포함한 광가이드부(320)의 일 실시예를 나타낸 도면이다.
도 14의 (a)는 광가이드부(320)와 영상 생성부(330)의 배치를 평면도로 나타낸 것이고, 도 14의 (b)는 사시도, (c)는 도 14의 (a)에서 AA`선으로 절단한 면에서의 정면도이고, (d)는 도 14의 (a)에서 BB`선으로 절단한 면에서의 정면도에 해당한다.
도 14를 참조하면, 광 가이드부(320)는 광원부에 인접하여 배치되는 제1 광학부재(322), 제1 광학부재 상에 배치되는 중간부재(324) 및 중간부재 상에 배치되는 제2 광학부재(326)를 포함하는 구성을 가질 수 있다.
한편, 도면에 도시되지는 않았으나, 광 가이드부(320)는 제1 광학부재(322), 중간부지(324) 및 제2 광학부재(326)를 포함하여 배치하는 하우징부를 더 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 하우징부에서 제1 광학부재, 중간부재 및 제2 광학부재는 적층되어 배치될 수 있으며, 또한 하우징부에는 제1 광학부재, 중간부재 및 제2 광학부재가 일정 간격을 유지하여 배치될 수 있도록 각 광학부재들을 고정하는 홀더부가 더 포함되어 형성될 수 있다.
이때, 광 가이드부(320)는 광원부에서 공급되는 빛을 제1 광학부재(322)에서 영상 생성부(330) 방향으로 집중되도록 하고, 이후 중간부재(324)를 거치며 집중된 빛이 균일하게 분포되도록 할 수 있으며, 다시 제2 광학부재(326)에서 상하방향인 y축 방향의 빛을 좀 더 집중시켜 광원부에서 영상 생성부로 공급되는 광 효율을 개선시키는 효과를 가질 수 있다.
도 15a 내지 15b는 광원부에서 공급된 광이 영상 생성부에 공급되어 출력된 영상에 대한 시뮬레이션 결과를 나타낸 도면이다.
도 15a는 광 가이드부가 포함되지 않은 경우의 영상 출력 결과이고, 도 15b는 제2 실시예의 광 가이드부를 포함하는 경우에 대한 영상 생성부의 영상 출력 결과에 해당한다.
실시예의 광 가이드부가 포함되지 않은 도 15a의 경우, 광원의 배열에 따라 광원이 위치하는 부분과 광원들 사이의 이격 공간에서 출력되는 빛의 편차가 생겨 광원 얼룩이 발생할 수 있으며, 출력 영상의 전체적인 휘도도 낮게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있다.
이와 비교하여 제2 실시예의 광 가이드부가 포함된 경우인 도 15b를 참조하면, 광원이 있는 부분과 광원들 사이의 이격 공간인 부분의 휘도의 편차가 줄어들어 광원 얼룩이 줄어들며, 전체적인 휘도 또한 개선된 것을 알 수 있다.
즉, 제2 실시예의 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치의 경우 광 가이드부에 복수의 광학부재를 포함함으로써, 광원으로부터 방출된 빛을 집중시켜 생성되는 허상의 휘도를 향상시킬 수 있다. 또한, 중간부재를 광 가이드부에 포함함으로써 집중된 광을 균일하게 확산시킴으로써 광 가이드부를 통하여 공급된 광을 이용하여 생성된 허상의 광학 특성을 개선할 수 있다.
이상에서 실시 예를 중심으로 설명하였으나 이는 단지 예시일 뿐 본 발명을 한정하는 것이 아니며, 본 발명이 속하는 분야의 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 본 실시 예의 본질적인 특성을 벗어나지 않는 범위에서 이상에 예시되지 않은 여러 가지의 변형과 응용이 가능함을 알 수 있을 것이다. 예를 들어, 실시 예에 구체적으로 나타난 각 구성 요소는 변형하여 실시할 수 있는 것이다. 그리고 이러한 변형과 응용에 관계된 차이점들은 첨부된 청구 범위에서 규정하는 본 발명의 범위에 포함되는 것으로 해석되어야 할 것이다.
실시예에 따른 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치는, 차량이나 기타 비행기 등의 다양한 탈 것에 장착될 수 있다.
Claims (20)
- 광을 방출하는 적어도 하나의 광원;상기 광원으로부터 방출된 광의 경로를 변경하는 제1 광학 부재;상기 제1 광학 부재로부터 방출된 광을 하기의 제2 광학 부재로 전달하는 광학 시트; 및상기 광학 시트로부터 전달된 광의 경로를 변경하고, 상기 광학 시트 방향의 제1 면과 하기의 영상 패널 방향의 제2 면을 포함하고, 상기 제1 면과 제2 면이 각각 곡면인 제2 광학 부재를 포함하는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1 항에 있어서,상기 제2 광학 부재에서 방출된 빛의 경로를 변경하는 반사 부재를 더 포함하는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1 항에 있어서,상기 제1 광학 부재는, 복수 개의 곡면으로 이루어지는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제3 항에 있어서,상기 제1 광학 부재 내의 곡면의 개수는 상기 광원의 개수와 동일한 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제3 항에 있어서,상기 제1 광학 부재 내의 각각의 곡면의 단면은 타원인 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제3 항에 있어서,상기 제1 광학 부재 내의 각각의 곡면의 단면의 적어도 일부는 다음의 수학식으로 정의되는 형상을 가지고, (x2/A2)+(y2/B2)+(z2/C2)=c2, 여기서 3<A<10, 3<B<10, 3<C<10인 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1 항에 있어서,상기 광학 시트는, 상기 제1 광학 시트로부터 상기 제2 광학 시트로 향하는 빛의 주된 방향에 수직인 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1 항에 있어서,상기 제2 광학 부재 내의 제1 면은 상기 광학 시트 방향으로 볼록하고 제2 면은 상기 제1 면과 반대 방향으로 볼록한 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제8 항에 있어서,상기 광원은 복수 개가 배치된 방향과, 상기 제2 광학 부재 내의 제1 면과 제2 면이 배치된 방향은 동일한 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 정보를 갖는 영상을 생성하는 영상 생성부;광을 방출하는 복수의 광원;상기 복수의 광원의 광축 상에 배치되어 상기 복수의 광원으로부터 방출된 광을 상기 영상 생성부로 가이드하는 광 가이드부; 및상기 영상 생성부에서 생성되어 투사되는 상기 영상을 허상 영상으로 생성하는 허상 광학부; 를 포함하며,상기 광 가이드부는상기 복수의 광원 상에 배치되며, 베이스 기판과 상기 베이스 기판 상에 돌출되어 형성된 렌즈부를 포함하는 제1 광학부재; 및상기 제1 광학부재 상에 배치되고, 상기 복수의 광원 방향으로 볼록한 곡면을 갖는 광입사면과 상기 광입사면에 대향하며 상기 영상 생성부 방향으로 볼록한 곡면을 갖는 광출사면을 포함하는 제2 광학부재; 를 포함하는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제 10항에 있어서, 상기 광 가이드부는 상기 제1 광학부재와 상기 제2 광학부재 사이에 배치되는 중간부재를 포함하며,상기 중간 부재는 확산판인 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제 11항에 있어서, 상기 중간부재는 프리즘시트 또는 DBEF 중 적어도 하나를 더 포함하는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제 10항에 있어서, 상기 베이스 기판은 상기 광축과 수직되도록 배치되고,상기 복수의 광원은 x축 방향 또는 상기 x축과 수직되는 y축 방향 중 적어도 하나의 방향으로 상기 베이스 기판 상에 배열된 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제 10항에 있어서, 상기 베이스 기판은 상기 복수의 광원과 마주보고 배치되고, 상기 렌즈부는 상기 제2 광학부재와 마주보고 배치되는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제 10항에 있어서, 상기 렌즈부는 복수 개이고,상기 복수의 렌즈부는 상기 복수의 광원에 각각 대응하여 배치되는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제 15항에 있어서, 상기 복수의 렌즈부는 서로 이격되어 배치된 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제 15항에 있어서, 상기 복수의 렌즈부는 이웃하는 적어도 하나의 렌즈부와 외곽 영역이 서로 중첩되어 배치된 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제 10항에 있어서, 상기 제2 광학부재는 상기 광입사면을 이루는 제1 곡선 및 상기 광출사면을 이루는 제2 곡선을 연결하여 형성된 수직 단면을 갖는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 제 18항에 있어서, 상기 수직 단면은 상기 제1 곡선, 상기 제2 곡선 및 상기 제1 곡선과 상기 제2 곡선을 연결하는 직선을 포함하는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
- 정보를 갖는 영상을 생성하는 영상 생성부;광을 방출하는 복수의 광원;상기 복수의 광원의 광축 상에 배치되어 상기 복수의 광원으로부터 방출된 광을 상기 영상 생성부로 가이드하는 광 가이드부; 및상기 영상 생성부에서 생성되어 투사되는 상기 영상을 허상 영상으로 생성하는 허상 광학부를 포함하고,상기 허상 광학부는 적어도 하나의 반사 미러;상기 적어도 하나의 반사 미러 위치를 조절하는 위치 조절부; 및상기 위치 조절부를 제어하여 상기 적어도 하나의 반사 미러의 반사 각도 또는 회절 각도 중 적어도 하나를 조정하는 구동 모터부; 를 포함하는 헤드 업 디스플레이 장치.
