Abstract

The air sprayed by the fan with high flow rate and pressure provides the spraying of the liquid, which is pushed to a nozzle at the end of a pipe by the motor or manual pump as small particles. For an effective spraying, the sprayer is made to rotate in every direction and/or different ranges of angle in a regular manner. The electrostatic loading can be added so that the sprayed liquid effectively reaches to a plant and especially underside the leaves, or the system can also be used without electrostatic loading. The liquid mixer starts to operate for a while before the spraying is initiated. After the spraying is finished, only the air is sprayed out for some time.

Description

DESCRIPTION
Electrostatic Rotating Spraying This invention, is related to a rotating and/or electrostatic machine, which sprays very small particles for the purpose of spraying pesticides and fertilization.
Present systems have either single head or several heads; therefore they can spray only specific area. To spray the whole area, manual rotation of machine is both difficult and time consuming, and the user under the risk of staying in the sprayed area.
Furthermore, in case of non-electrostatic spraying machines, the sprayed particles are suspended in the air, or these particles cover only the upper surface of the leaves. However, the pests and diseases are usually located underside the leaves. The liquid can reach and stick to the underside of the leaves as well as the upper surface as a result of spraying made with electrostatic machine.
The purpose of my invention is to solve all these problems and to make an electrostatically loaded, air blast, fogging sprayer which is rotatable to any direction (from 0°to 360*), for to use in spraying pesticides, fertilizers, growth regulator and/or all kinds of liquid spraying applications.

The operation of the machine, whose block diagram is shown in Figure -1 , is as follows: The liquid in the liquid tank (21), passing through the filter (28), hose (23) and leak proof joint(5), is sent to the nozzle(2) by the pressure generated by the manual pump(20) or by the electric pump (25), whose rotation speed can be adjusted by the control system (26), Furthermore, the amount of flowing liquid is adjusted by the valve (24). Depending on this, the size of the sprayed particles is adjusted. The air is blown by the fan (14) with a high flow rate and pressure erupts after passing through the pipe rotating joint (13) and the rotating pipe (4). The blown air converts the liquid, reached to nozzle (2) to a smoke (fog) comprised of very small particles. The sprayer should be rotated in order to distribute the micro volumed liquid particles .sprayed with air, equally in the intended spray site. The amount of this rotation can be 360° as well as only 180° or 90° or any other desired value.
The rotation is provided by the rotating joint (44) or by the eccentric component (45). The machine rotating joint (32) makes the whole machine rotate. Fan rotating joint (15) provides rotation of the fan. Pipe rotating joint (13) provides rotation of the rotating pipe (4) at the fan's output. This is preferred because the loading is less. But a leakproof component (39) is used to avoid the leaks in the air from the fan (14). During the rotation, the fan can be operated at the regular or adjusted power as well as it can be operated at full-power in the 1st rotation speed, at half-power in the 2nd rotation speed, and at a lower power in the 3rd rotation speed, i.e. meaning different power levels can be applied at different rotation speeds. Thus, near, medium and far distances can be sprayed completely. The motor of the fan(14) may be electrically driven, petroleum or gas fired.
The electrostatic is applied in order to make the sprayed particles to reach the target surfaces and covering the whole parts of the target surface instead of suspending in the air. The battery (8) charged by the charging socket (9) feeds the static electric generator (7) through the switch. The output of the static electric generator is connected to the electrostatic loader (1) via the high voltage cable (3) through the amplifier, limiter (6). The sprayed particles are loaded by the electrostatic loader (1). The other polarity is connected to the machine, by this way to the ground using the ground cable (12). Static electricity can be added if desired. The system is insulated, although it is not dangerous to humans due to the low current. The system stops automatically as a result of no liquid indication from the level sensor (29) located in the liquid tank (21) or if the adjusted spray time is exceeded. Or it can be programmed to start and stop at desired time instants using the control system (26). The machine is moved using the wheels (30)(31) and the hand holder (19). If the machine is intended to be used at a fixed location, the fixing legs can used instead of wheels. The machine can be used at a fixed location or moved manually or it can transported on another vehicle. It can be powered directly from the mains supply as well as its power can be supplied from a generator or an inverter with an accumulator. The adjustment to different elevations is performed through the height adjustment of a mechanism consisting of lower leg (22) and upper leg (17) by the fixing screw (18). Continuous stirring of the chemical liquid in the tank is provided by the recirculator or mixer (27) or by a propeller rotating in the liquid. The spraying starts after the operation of the recirculator or mixer (27) for a duration of 0,1 to 500 min. After the spraying is over, only the air is sprayed out for a duration 1min to 10 h so that the spray is delivered to a longer distance. The operation of rotating joint whose block diagram is shown in Figure- 2 is as follows:
The rotating joint ensures a rotated spraying. The rotation is obtained by a low speed motor (36) with a toothed pulley or a worm gear at its output, which rotates the gear or pulley (37) mounted to the joint upper part (34). The rotating joint (44) consists of two components. A) joint upper part may have one or more leakproof component (39) providing sealing, piston ring or gasket. The channel (40) prevents the separation of the two components during motion, the screw (41) entering this channel (40) holds the two parts together. B) Upper leakproof rotating joint: The part desired to be rotated and gear or pulley is connected to this joint. The operation of the eccentric joint whose block diagram is shown in Figure- 3 is as follows: Eccentric joint provides the back and forth motion of an arm (47) via the bearing (46) connected to low speed motor (36) and mounted to the eccentric component. This motion rotating pipe (4), fan (14) or the whole machine. Using stepper motors provides better results, except for full rotation. With fan rotating joint (15) and machine rotating joint (32), the fan and the whole machine rotates, respectively. Leak proof joint (5) providing air tightness is additionally present only in pipe rotating joint. This machine can be used without electrostatic. But agricultural pesticide, which is sprayed, reaches both upper and lower sides of the leaves thanks to the electrostatic feature, therefore, static feature is very important. The position information is taken from the sensor (42) and sensor reader (43) and this information is used as a reference for rotation. The control system (26) provides 180 degrees, 90 degrees or the desired amount of rotation using this reference. According to the dimensions of the site, the amount of sprayed liquid is set at each turn. In the first figure in the first page, the cables are shown by the dotted lines. The arrow at the end of a line indicates the direction of flow of current or information.
This invention is especially for use in agricultural spraying pesticides and fertilization. It provides a practical spraying with a low cost. Since it provides very small micro spray particles, the most effective spraying is performed using less chemical substances. It also provides the spray particles reach to the lower side of the leaves and thus, the most influenced part from diseases is sprayed. Due to its practical usage, the more job can be done in the same time. Since it automatically stops when the agricultural pesticide is finished, no need to monitor during the spray process. It uses very little liquid. The spraying made with 100-1000 L of water with classical systems can be made with only 16 L water by this machine. Moreover, the risk of degradation of spraying liquid due to some materials present in the water is not significant. Therefore, it contributes significantly to the economy in a areas, such as, agricultural spraying, fertilization, plant growth regulator application, pest control.
